A contemporary port of an ancient iOS game that's aged pretty well. League of Evil is cracking value and addictive with it.

There are 3 Star Timed Challenges that vary from 15-30 seconds. Each level has a Briefcase to collect. There are 6 different enemeis, 9 different hazards and 7 different backgrounds. Each background has it's own kick ass Rock chip tune. Though 1-2 of those sound similar.

The lack of variety will not be noticeable till you check out the level editor. Remedies, this with well placed enemies and hazards. Annoying placed hazards, will lead to your death so many times. I had 40+ retries on many of the stages. Going far up as 196.

There a little box in the game that tells your how many times you have tried in a row. Thankfully, retrying is instant. Best to try out a few levels a day if it becomes too stressful.

Some will breeze through 3 of the 4 story arcs in 2 hours. While some like myself might me stuck for hours.

There are 4 arcs to complete with 140 levels total. The controls are tight, but I did have trouble register double jumps when I came off a wall jump sometimes. Whenever I jumped off the edge of a wall, instead of going right. I jump back left and back to the point of the edge.

The difficulty is above some platforming games definitely below Super Meat Boy levels. (4th Arc probably comes close).

    4.99 USD ( Cross Buy, 2 Platinum's) Max Stack of 3

6/10 Difficulty (PSN requires just the first 3 arcs)

    6/10 Score

Enjoyment: Just the first few hours. Been playing 1-2 levels a day to keep the stress down.

With the massive success of hardcore platformers such as Super Meat Boy others soon followed it's footsteps in an attempt to bring somethingWith the massive success of hardcore platformers such as Super Meat Boy others soon followed it's footsteps in an attempt to bring something new to the table while trying to capture some of its success. One of such games was a 2011 mobile game called League of Evil, a more humble twitch reflex platformer where your goal is to get through challenging levels to get to the end and punch an evil scientist in his ugly evil face. League of Evil has recently been ported to consoles and the result is decent for a budget game but you could get something much more inspired by spending a tad more.

As previously mentioned, in League of Evil you have to get through bite-sized challenging stages to punch the evil scientist that awaits you at the end of every single stage. These have different backdrops and hazards but ultimately it all feels like it's been made with a bog-standard level editor making the whole experience a bit uninspired. You have a couple of extra objectives such as locating a briefcase that's hidden somewhere in every stage and beat each stage as fast as you can to obtain a three stars rank.

The gameplay in itself is fine, you can perform jumps, double jumps, walls jumps and punch enemies with ease. The feel of the game is adequate for a platformer of this kind and despite a few unfair level design choices such as most of the leaps of fate ending up with your character being impaled to death the gameplay might as well be League of Evil's strongest suit. The game has 140 stages plus a level editor for you to enjoy but not one of these 100+ stages stuck with me after I was done getting the platinum trophy in the game, which took about 4 hours. As a bonus the game features cross-buy between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, however, it does not feature cross-save between the two platforms.

League of Evil is a budget hardcore platformer that's more suitable for portable consoles or mobile devices because of its simplicity. If you have no issues with touch-based controls you can grab the free version for Android which has pretty much the same amount of content.

League of evil is a basic platforming game with 120 short levels lasting around 10-20 seconds to complete when mastered. If you enjoyLeague of evil is a basic platforming game with 120 short levels lasting around 10-20 seconds to complete when mastered. If you enjoy platforming games you may like this one but for myself who finds the good platformer games somewhat enjoyable it was not for me.

I found it very difficult at times due to poor controls. The character is overly sensitive to your movement which makes landing very difficult and the double jump ability which is essential to the game can be unresponsive. I found that after 20-25 attempts of the same level that the double jump option would stop working so I would have to quit out of the level and try again which would make it work again. This was very annoying when you were trying to master a level.

Summary : below average platform game, annoying music and glitchy controls
