Thanks Avalanche. You know what you are good at and don't pretend to make this game something it isn't. It's good, stupid fun. And I've been waiting for this since JC2.

Love the game. I didn't think of this game being repetitive at all. It's fun on the PS4 muck more than star-wars battlefront which i received a full refund and purchased this game. Very smart on my part. At least you don't get a half game and boring game play like most games. Keep up the good work Square Enix! This is a sleeper hit.

This game is great. It is true to Just Cause 2's fun style, and any repetition is because people aren't seeing that this game has such an open physics model that allows you to beat stages in unlimited ways. If you choose to use the same strategy for every mission, it will be repetitive. It was never supposed to be a GTA level of detail in story, gameplay, or even complexity of missions. This game is great. People seem to want to hold it to that standard, which isn't realistic. GTA needs to raise the bar of open world with every new release, this was never supposed to be that.
The bugs aren't horrific, and people don't seem to understand that games/operating systems/software are released as a 'beta' these days and then patched.
Load times aren't unbearably slow, but will seem so due to slow physical media disc drives and HDs, not to mention the complex game data & graphics. The PS4 is a 5400 rpm hard drive, upgrade it to a 7200 and this loads faster than GTA does now, better yet get a SSHD.
This game is fun now, and will get lots of patches. Its beautiful to look at, and I haven't been let down.

The just cause series have gotten better with each game. Yes there's not much to it but its so much fun doing cool stunts, explosives and destruction. This game is like a cross between James bond, Red and the A team more leaning on the latter. if you like them then you'll probably like this. Its a game you switch off to and have pure gameplay fun. p.s love the intro song

The writing isn't great. The voice acting seems like it was recorded without anyone in the same room. Sometimes when you set off a huge chain of explosions, the frame-rate dips a bit. Just think of it as slow-motion. But having said all that, the whole of the game is just plain goofy fun. It's not a game to obsess over, but rather the kind of thing to put on

But having said all that, the whole of the game is just plain goofy fun. It's not a game to obsess over, but rather the kind of thing to put on when you don't want to worry about resource management or slow, plodding traversal. This game wants you to grapple onto an attack helicopter, kick out the pilot, blow up a bunch of conveniently red-colored explosive barrels and towers, jump out of the helicopter, free-fall to within a few feet of the ground, grapple to the ground without splattering into a bunch of giblets, and watch as flaming mayhem falls from the sky as you slow-walk away.

It's a playground, and a damn good one at that. Great for a relaxing game session.

Just Cause 3 creates a realistic nation with an oppressive government and then let's you right that wrong. There are however drawbacks to a world that's perhaps too realistic/ immersive. There are big open spaces that can be annoying to traverse. The cities are very similar looking which is also accurate to how must of earth is but it can also make them boring.

Despite those limitations, it's an immensely satisfying experience. Every time I liberate a city or destroy a military base I feel a little bit closer to overthrowing the government. It's that kind of compelling game play that can make an afternoon vanish into thin air.

My only real complaint is the online login. So far it doesn't seem to have any use other than showing me comparisons between some achievement I made and those of other players. But it has caused the game to pause several times while it attempts to reconnect. Minuscule benefit, significant inconvenience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the first game I've played in a while that feels like a game. It is oodles of fun to pick up and relax with, for there are virtually no limits. Surprisingly enough, I like this game more than JC2. Just Cause 2 was great, but had problems with some repetitive missions, a terrible problem with de-spawning vehicles that you order, and a pretty much useless grapple tether that broke whenever you tried to pull something (at least in the PS3 version) but other than that, JC2 was a blast to play with a huge, beautiful world and loads of stuff to blow up. Just Cause 3 does that and more. JC3 is innovative over JC2 in it's own right, for JC3 has introduced us to the Wingsuit, which is a blast to play with, and the multiple grapple tethers with retract function allows for limitless possibilities for causing chaos. The story isn't anything special, in fact, its a little worse than Just Cause 2, but by no means does the story bog down the experience. People new to the JC series need to understand that you should go in expecting a game, not a cinematic, immersive story. Gamers and critics alike who write the game off as mediocre because of a bad story have little imagination when it comes to games, and need to get through any game with a strong story. I also see some people saying that the world isn't detailed, which is completely false. JC3's map has so much more depth to it than JC2. There are numerous cliffs and caves, and huge mountains to explore. Here in JC3, you don't need a story, all you need is your parachute and wingsuit, unlimited C4, varied and creative weapons, and explosions to have a great time as you're dropped into this massive, beautiful map.

Most people's complaints about this game other than the story stem from the games performance and repetitive nature, which I disagree with. My PS4 hasn't had much trouble with this game, and even though it lags when a huge explosion is set off, that lag clears soon enough as to not hinder your fun. I have never had massive frame rate drops when I'm simply flying around the world, and even though the frame rate stumbles sometimes, it doesn't detract from my experience.
Secondly, people say the game is repetitive, which I disagree with. The amount of tools at your disposal is akin to Metal Gear Solid 5, you can approach any situation any way you want to, except for stealth, and blow everything up in unique and creative ways. The grapple's retract function really lets you play with the physics, and it's time like this when the game is at it's best. I mean, come on! You can attach two soldiers to each other and make them hug! You can get a gun that shoots nukes! The over-the-top absurdity present in JC3 is matched by it's total freedom and limitless ways to cause chaos and explore. Buy this game, you will have a good time. I have played for about 40 hours as of now, and I'm still having a blast.

Or maybe I like this game because blowing **** up never gets old to me. Whatever.

Just Cause 3 also offers you many ways. Do you want to call in an airstrike? Do you want to have a fighter jet dropped off to you at the push of a button, and then bomb it from above? Do you want to enter the base and plant C4 everywhere and detonate them? Or do you want to blow it up from a distance without even stepping foot inside the base at all? The choice is yours. Also, you will never see a copied and pasted military base in Just Cause 3. It's also very easy to get lost in the world of Just Cause 3, and how often does that happen in game worlds? Not very often. Just Cause 3's world is vast. INCREDIBLY vast. Although it's a bit shallow, lifeless, and empty, it's very, very varied. One minute, you could be in icy mountains, the next you could be in an arid desert, the next you could be in a forest, the next you could be at the bottom of the sea. The world is also limitless. Even right from the start, you can explore the entire map. No invisible walls, no boundaries, just a vast, limitless world of 400 square miles, waiting to be explored. Exploring is also fun, with the help of the wingsuit and grappling hook. The wingsuit and grappling hook combination has real physics and momentum, and with the right type of terrain, you can cover massive distances very quickly. Just Cause 3 is a must-play this generation. It's an explosive sandbox playground. Just Cause 3's downsides (mediocre storyline and narrative, bad writing, voice acting, sub-par graphics, lack of attention to detail) are outweighed by its upsides. Expand

The game is great, not perfect and has its faults, but it has a great open world and the freedom to destroy things is isana, it makes the game a lot of fun.
For me it was not as cloying as they say because I wanted to play more and more, but obviously, a lot of people think differently.

I've sat and played this game for hours and hours, it is so incredibly addicting to play. Granted, the story is pretty uninteresting, and voice acting is.. meh.. but I love flying around and blowing stuff up. I love the cars, I love the jets, and I love the explosions. My favorite thing to do in the game is fly in the wing-suit. Play this if you're looking for a good time.

Story isnt the strongest thing in this game but whos gonna buy Just Cause for the story, what Jc done great is World, Destruction, Physics, Proggresion and weapons variations, but where JC lose is bugs and sometimes FPS drops.
If you love Open World games dont miss JC 3 because for me is better than GTA 5

Another game I hadn't been aware of till recently. I loved the open world and gameplay despite the repetition. A bit OTT at times but doesn't jump the shark like the Saints Row series did. Scratches the GTA V itch.

What a positive surprise this game was.
I got this at PSN for 4 bucks, figure why not, I've never played any of the previous 2 games, but I'll try this. The player movement is so damn fun, you basically get your parachute, glider and grappling hook. With these 3, the combinations are endless. Recommended

In a season where Black Ops 3 and Battlefield 4 are my go-to games, Just Cause 3 fills a space well. There are a couple of weird things. The actions slows down in some of the more hectic gameplay. Also, the load times are pretty long. I've been playing JC3 in the mornings and can scarf down breakfast in the time it takes to load the game from the start screen. It becomes a bigger hassle when retrying a challenge - it's enough to make me give up on the challenge altogether rather than wait. I hope they have a way of patching this because the game is outrageously fun. It's a great game in a season of solid releases and it deserves attention - a class act. Expand

Mindless fun. 2 words that sum up Just Cause 3.

Yes it has it's faults. The frame rate is very dodgy & the control system is a pain in the arse but who cares when you can tie 2 goats to a gas tank and launch them into the stratosphere. The graphics are good for an open world game and the range of vehicles, weapons and destructible items are vast.

The main point of the game is not the story or the side quests, it's just to have fun and be as creative as you can. As an example I latched a car onto a helicopter, flew it over a few gas tanks and dropped it. BOOM! Although the explosion did blow up my helo but what the hell, it was fun.

It's these sort of moments that make JC3 stand out from other similar games.

If you want to have fun and can see past the dodgy frame rate and the decade long load times, then JC3 is one of the best games of this gen.

Just cause 3 is a 3rd person action adventure gamewhere you play as rico rodriguez, set out to liberate the massive island you’re on...
You do this equipped with some guns, a parachute, and a grappling gun…
Just cause 3 is hilarious, and never takes itself seriously... it knows it’s a ridiculous videogame and it makes fun of itself the entire way…
You’re going to have a blast for the first few hours of this game...
There’s seemingly so much to do...
There are cars to collect... missions to do... towns and bases to liberate, and challenges to conquer
plus basically the entire world is destructive
unfortunately, this becomes stale very quickly…
Apart from the hilarious cut scenes, there’s nothing special about the campaign, it’s your typical fight your way to the bad guy story, get the things he’s after before he does…
what I found pretty clever though is that a couple missions require you to liberate sections of the map before they will unlock..
This forces you to do the best parts of the game in my opinion...
Liberating can be fun... at least the military bases...
You basically go in and destroy all of their goods while they try and stop you…
and this is the meat of the game…
it’s a clean the map game which again is fun for a while, but is massively repetitive…
I feel like the staleness comes from the restrictions the game puts on you…
For starters as you complete missions and get stars from missions you’ll unlock vehicles and guns…
the great thing is you can request these items from a drop box anytime at all
the problem is you need a beacon to do this…
This is bad because you’ll find yourself in the middle of nowhere many times after a mission with no beacons or a helicopter in sight... causing you to have to grapple way 8,000 km to your next way point
Sure infinite beacons would’ve made just cause 3 much easier.. But more importantly I feel like it would make the game much more fun...
more about causing destruction and mayhem and less about forcing you to traverse a massive but empty world….it isn’t a game you play for challenge anyway or really a game you play to explore…
the same issue can be found with fast travel..
You can only carry 1 flare at a time and you need this flare to fast travel to a location…
I would’ve much rather had fast travels be endless but limited to liberated bases...
This would’ve given me incentive to liberate beyond the minimum to complete the story…
but while you are creating havoc, almost everything you do is tied to a score so you can try to outdo your friends in craziness…
you can of course opt out and play offline. .but annoyingly every time you go to check the map or pause the game it tries to log you in stopping all flow and immersion of the game...
This is by far the greatest sin the game commits…
I had games downloading in the background so it would attempt to log in for minutes, causing me to get distracted numerous times by something else… only to remember oh yeah, I was playing just cause 3…
When I enter offline mode, please keep me there until I opt in to online...
    don’t try to force it
while there are hours of fun to be had in just cause 3
I didn’t really find the journey to be worth it all in the end…
There’s a good time here, just no real substance
    I give just cause 3 an 8/10

Little touches like this and others slow down the pacing to a crawl at times, not to mention the un-optimized state the game engine is in largely due to a last minute on line component.

Gameplay wise, the game is top notch with frenetic action and very impressive explosions including visible shockwaves (if you look close) that can send your enemies and yourself flying! Also, to me anyways, a much improved driving physics. One down note however, there is one glaring omission, a very truncated version of vehicle mantleling where by you could overpower the occupants via a shoot out like you could in JC2.

Also, you get texas steers instead of Scorpions. How lame is that?!

My only real complaint is that the game did not ship with a 3D mode. JC2 had support and while it may require some extra time and extra processing 3D would have put this game at a 9 or a 10. I hope over the coming months they optimize the codebase to run faster and add 3D support.

Time flies while soaring above the mountains, valleys and towns, trying to perfect the tricky-to-master wingsuit. But it is extremely satisfying to stay in the air for several minutes at a time when you finally get the hang of winching in the grappling hook to keep yourself airborne.

The game is far from perfect (occasional frame-rate issues, ridiculous loading times, sometimes getting the "this is all a little repetitive" feeling), but I can't in good conscious give this anything lower than an 8 when it gives me this much enjoyment!

Just Cause 3 is your typical open world-game, and feels like a cross between GTA and Far Cry.
At first I was a bit confused as what to do in the game, as it gives you almost too much freedom to the point where it's too overwhelming to decide what to tackle next.
But after some time I started to enjoy it still.
The open world-map is HUGE! Not only is most of it environment destructable, it's also beautiful to look at. And if you don't feel like blowing stuff up, there's plenty other stuff to do, like collecting different vehicles or flying around in your wing suit, taking in the beautiful scenery.
The frame rate has a tendency to drop quite low from time to time, and it can get a bit annoying, but not enough to affect the game play, at least for me.
The only down side's to this game is that the story is very generic and quite boring, and most of the missions and tasks get repetetive, but not nearly as repetitive as they get in Mad Max.
All in all, Just Cause 3 is a fun game, and well worth a go if you are into open world-games and blowing stuff up, or enjoy a nice-looking game.

Yeah, it's plot is no better than your standard Bollywood movie, but its obvious that that was not the focus for Square Enix. I'm about 13 hours into the game and I'm proud to say it hasn't left me a dull moment, even the traveling from point a to point b is exhilarating with the sheer magnitude of transportation methods. The characters are simple, yet somehow memorable, with characteristics that make happy to know them, even if they aren't exactly groundbreaking in depth. with that out of the way, this is the most raw fun i've had playing a game in years. it's basically the fast and furious of games -- ridiculously over the top stunts, only you, the player, get to take part in creating them. yes the missions are repetitive and annoying, but there's enough fun to be had just gliding around town liberating outposts and coming up with wacky ways to blow things up. the physics of tethering two things together works very well, and the wingsuit feels great once you've mastered the controls.

    Now, on with the review.

Just cause 3 is a wonderful edition to the series as it fixes various problems that made just cause 2 almost unbearable. One of my biggest gripes with just cause 2 was always how repetitive the process of [Enter village] > [Kill enemies and destroy chaos objects] > [Find collectibles] was. All villages were practically the same and there were far too many. The balance between doing missions and discovering new locations was completely tipped to one side constantly and it made playing the game a chore after a while. Let it be said that i did beat the main story of Just Cause 2 and i beat most of the other missions in the game as well, but i still hadn't completed the game 50% at that point and there was literally nothing else to do but find collectibles and discover villages.

Now where just cause 2 fails in that regard, Just Cause 3 shines like a newly born sun.
This game perfectly balances the discovery/collectible hunting with the in game missions and the challenges are such a welcome addition I'm actually willing to forgive this games framerate issues.
In just Cause 2, you get weapons and vehicles by purchasing them with money made through destruction and completing missions. In Just Cause 3 there is no money, instead you get access to something called a 'rebel drop' and a limited number of flares (which are used to summon the rebel drops) which you can restock from military bases once you've conquered them. These rebel drops will allow you to summon any of the vehicles or weapons in the game as long as you've completed the necessary requirement for unlocking them (such as conquering certain military bases or doing certain missions or in some cases, finding all collectibles in a region). This is (in my opinion) a far better method of obtaining gear and vehicles than the currency system in the 2nd game.

To make up for a lack of discoverable locations this game introduces challenges into the mix from which you receive 1 to 5 'gears' for 'gear mods' (explained below) based on your score/time in the particular challenge. Challenges range from air, sea and vehicle racing to destruction and shooting gallery. All are unique and offer actual challenge.
The result of your hard work in these challenges earns you gears, which will unlock 'gear mods' once a specific amount of gears are gotten in there relative challenge. Gear mods are another fantastic edition to this series, as they give you a real sense of achievement and progression as you complete each challenge and unlock more upgrades for your characters abilities.
Almost every single tool at your disposal has gear mods, be it vehicles or your own tether and bombs.
This is by far one of my favourite editions to the franchise.

The story and characters in this game are absolutely wonderful and memorable and the dialogue is just as cheesy as it has always been in these games. Di Ravello is a great villain and his tapes (which are collectibles scattered all over the map) are some of the creepiest things I've listened to. Rico is a great protagonist as he always is, and Sheldon is just as crazy as always. There are plenty of other great characters in this game that i wont spend the next 1000 words talking about.

The amount of features this game adds as well as the many it has fixed from its predecessors is beyond incredible and speaks to the level of dedication that Avalanche went to for it's community to make this the best game it could be for them.

I have had a lot of fun with this game so far and From what I have seen and played, I would honestly be doing the creators a disservice if I gave this game less than a 7. A feel an 8 perfectly represents my personal opinion of this game as I see it, so there it is.

The story wasn't outstanding but I thought it was more then acceptable to help make you podder your way through the world. The wingsuit allows for some thrilling tactics when attempting to take over bases and allows for some really fun experimentation. This game is just screaming for multiplayer!! It's a silly, Hollywood style action game, plenty of explosions and action. Pretty generic storyline though no complaints on the execution. The wingsuit has a learning curve for a little while, but i guarantee you give it a few hours and you will be gliding across the air like Peter pan. in the early stages it is a little simple yet warms you up to the mechanics with the wingsuit. when you start unlocking upgrades for it, it feels amazing and i love this addition. you can easily glide around the whole map using the wingsuit without ever touching the ground with enough time put into mastering the wingsuit system.

While the story isnt the best, the introduction to the wingsuit and grappling hook was very nice and a very memorable moment when you finally get your feet wet. Explosions, gliding, tethering multiple things together and just causing chaos with even being able to have a nuke launcher at your disposal. gliding around while blowing things up never gets old and how fluid the wingsuit system is when mastered feel amazing.

The story could use some work as it doesnt really feel like enough was put into it,it is not glitchy either. i have the original ps4 and i ran this just fine with frame rate drops from time to time but that was the worst of it from my experience. People who put alot of time and effort into this game will feel very rewarded with its mastering of mechanics.

Some negatives. It feels as if we can do so much more with the grapple system it feels somewhat limited, having small features like having it top vehicles when tethered from opposite sides or even turning it into a wire that you can walk across would have been amazing to include. The flare system could use some work as having to wait 30min or more to call another vehicle is a little annoying, if chaos was a currency like the 2 where you could buy vehicles or even take the flare time off by paying chaos of some sort would have been a nice addition to make things more immersive and more of a incentive to blow things up. The weapon system is ok but droping a weapon and replacing it by accident can mean you lose that gun forever, especially if its a unique gun. We need more of a incentive for vehicles as well, with the wingsuit system being so fluid and fast you dont really feel like using vehicles unless its to have fun with them with the tether system or with explosions ( which may have been the reason )

add coop or multiplayer in this game and it would increase the fun factor by a unbelievable scale.

This title is as mindless as it gets - the AI is downright stupid, your character is a bullet sponge who can't die unless you really try and the open world itself never feels anything approaching real (more akin to Saints Row than GTA here) - but all that is a good thing if you're looking for a title you can pick up and play for an hour, wind down and have a blast with, because sending a deer flying off a cliff with a slingshot rope is bizarrely therapeutic!

Summary: Despite some serious flaws and pointless features, this game has just enough going right for it to be really fun. I hope to play a more polished Just Cause 4 in the future!

    Breakdown:
Gameplay: 8/10. The grapple, parachute, wingsuit combination is INSANELY FUN, especially with upgrades. Add to that airplanes, fighter jets, helicopters, boats, cars, and motorbikes, you have many options and travelling around the world is very enjoyable. This game has some sandbox elements that lend themselves to some hilarious moments, and makes for a good pass-the-controller game with friends. That said, the motorbikes have terrible handling, like not even fun. Also, there aren't as many options as in JC2, notably jetboats with guns on them. It also seems strange that there is no underwater locomotion beyond basic swimming, since underwater is beautiful. A submersible vehicle or diver propulsion vehicle would have been fun. The camera gets a little janky here and it's mostly well executed.

Missions/Activities: 3/10. While there are a few progression missions, they mostly just boil down to annoying escort/protection missions. The open world encounters are mostly pointless and are often broken, in fact they are such a mess they should have been cut from the game. There are also "Daredevil jumps" which are terribly half-assed in their execution, no clear indication of what you need to do and a complete lack of failure/success states (I'm guessing their inclusion was forced by world artists and game design ran out of time to polish the experience). That said, the challenges (races, wingsuit runs, etc.) are really really fun, well though out, rewarding, and polished.

Presentation: 8/10. This world is gorgeous and colorful and compliments the locomotion mechanics really well. The explosions are very cool, not the best I've seen but still prove rewarding. The character models aren't the best, but they suit the overall style and tone well enough. The music is really good, though also very repetitive. The dialogue quality is mostly fine, but there are moments where important dialogue gets lost in the mix. The sound effects are good though not spectacular. The UI is simple, clean, and easy to navigate.

Metagame: 4/10. I really liked unlocking upgraded by completing challenges, it gives them a reason to be completed, and it helps that the challenges are fun. Clearing settlements, provinces, and regions is fun but very repetitive (which wasn't really bad for me personally, but may bore other players). Unlocking priests/churches as cooldown areas feels like a really pointless mechanic. It was strange that there are less main missions than there are provinces and the method of unlocking missions felt inconsistent. I wish missions were more dependent on clearing provinces since at the end of the game I still had settlements left to liberate, which seemed out of context from the story. The reward progression is fine, but there are some really good vehicles and weapons which are unlocked before less good ones. The thing that really bothers me is that there is no "New Game +" option (pretty standard these days) when completing the game, allowing you to start at the beginning with all your previous unlocks and upgrades intact. To be fair, you can "re-oppress" settlements, but you can only do this one at a time and are forced to fast travel each time, which involves a 30 second load. It's weird that there is not method to re-oppress bases in bulk because the current method is very time consuming.

Narrative: 5/10. Mostly harmless. The main character, Rico, is less interesting than in previous versions. He used to be a bad-ass anti-hero, but now he's a more suave and macho nice guy. I always assumed he was Mexican, but it this game he's more of a generic European gentleman. He used to be more like Batman, now he feels like Superman. The supporting characters are fine, but the most interesting character is Dimah, the scientist who crafts all of Rico's gadgets. She's really the only character with an arc. Aside from Dimah's part, the overall story felt rushed and shallow, with an ending that felt abrupt. To be fair, there is more to the story which you can discover by collecting audiotapes, but it's also where the real meat of the story is in terms of what motivates Rico and the sole antagonist DiRavello.

Online: 0/10. A complete broken mess. The game will often stall trying to connect to a server, even after you select offline mode. The online leaderboards do not work at all beyond people on your friends list, which is a shame because the challenges are so fun. It would have been better to cut online completely since it does more harm than good in the game. Also, this game screams for coop, but to be fair it isn't really something other open world games have figured out how to do well either.

Its a fun game with a lot to do but will leave no lasting impression. Nice whilst you're playing it but nothing inspires or exceeds expectations, its above average but cannot - in good conscience - be considered as a great.

    Positives;
Its Just Cause. If you want a ridiculous game with very few rules and even fewer ways to enforce them then look no further. As is series tradition the game allows truly crazy and awesome stunts from placing mines on a moving plane, jumping from it and swinging it into a petrol station for an enormous explosion to turning a vehicle into a battering ram bringing down enormous structured whilst dragging a cow from the tow bar. If you can think of something to do with the mechanics, chances are it's possible and in that respect the game has a great deal of freedom not arbitrarily imposing restrictions. The gunplay, aiming, movement and fluidity of controls is excellent as perhaps should be expected though for stupid people like myself, some of the controls can get confusing by their similarity. As open world sandboxes go, its well designed and has plenty to do which isn't restrained by a fantastic movement system which allows traversal of the map in minutes despite its considerable size.
The artistic choices are next, plain red for bad, blue for good however there are a lot of nice visual touches that really add to the game and it is highly appealing in its style. Having allies tag along is worthwhile for the extra chaos they add to the situation (unlike many other games where they become a frustration). Having them detonate a fuel tanker unexpectedly sending you spiralling across the base watching the war unfold below is just cause to a tee. The high health makes these mistakes add to the situation rather than become annoyances. Plus points for having tag alongs be enjoyable.
The amount of content itself is good and despite being the typical pointless disconnected nonsense, the levity of dialogue is enjoyable. This comedic element extends to the story and characters who are so over the top and genuinely amusing at times that they have infinitely more personality than perhaps could be expected and unusually this blends perfectly with the actual gameplay.
Finally the upgrades system is well implemented with points systems allowing progression through skill trees thus rewarding perks by skill which is an intriguing system.

    Negatives
Too limited in weapon choice. There are few choices available and you'll quickly have experienced every weapon in the game.
Story is weak both in telling and missions. If its not protect someone or something with a health bar its basically an open world activity again. There is no significant plot, no wow moments of spectacle or events that exceed the main game for the most part. In such a ridiculous game, a logical step would be to have a hundreds NPC strong battle with many rocket launchers, tanks and helicopters between them, the whole campaign is spent waiting for a payoff or crescendo of chaos which never comes. There is no proper development and no craziness substituted to make up for it, merely moments that remind you of the lost potential particularly as many missions are hoping and praying an NPC driver wont crash into a tree and freeze there until they inevitably get killed forcing a mission restart. Its a classic dictator v rebel story but doesn't seem to have the energy or effort to live up to the expectations it sets implicitly.
The open world is very similar to everything ever. grab bag of pointless and random quests with outposts to liberate, all in samey - albeit with a far lesser decline in fun value - fashion that does limit what time can be put into a single session.

    TL:DR/Conclusion
A solid base of good gameplay mechanics and fun let down in part by over similarity of concept as well as a lack of effort or wasted potential in the story missions both in terms of story and content.
