    "In rays of the Light" is a brief "walking simulator" which intrigued me with the imagery and atmosphere of its trailer. I was going to write"In rays of the Light" is a brief "walking simulator" which intrigued me with the imagery and atmosphere of its trailer. I was going to write a long review, but I really can't be bothered ... so I'll just do the pros and cons thing, which will speak for itself.

    PROS:
    * Good atmosphere
    * Some nice audio and visual effects
    * I liked the subtle ways that the pause-screen changed at some points during the game

    CONS:
    * broken camera controls (no dead-zone at all on the right stick, so constant drift)
    * a couple of needlessly obscure "puzzles" that stopped the game cold (I ended up solving them through trial and error rather than working them out legitimately)
    * untranslated Russian graffiti everywhere (maybe they're not important, but you feel like you're missing details that a Russian-speaker would get)
    * poorly-translated text, reminiscent of "all your base are belong to us"
    * stuff that aims for profound but only achieves pretentiousness
    * pointless items that feel like they were intended to have a use, but it wasn't implemented
    * an extremely abrupt ending that's as unsubtle and too on-the-nose as Watership Down.
    * frankly bizarre choices, like the way the ending screen just sits there forever with you thinking "Is it over, then?" until you get bored and quit out manually, and the fact there's no way to start a new game (to get the alt ending) without manually deleting the game's save-file from your PS4.

    My main issue with the game, though, is that the imagery which appears in the trailer - aeroplanes just hanging there in the sky in a spooky way, like time was frozen; the imagery that actually drew me in to want to play the game - never actually happens in the game.

    Summary: The game's cheap and I did enjoy the atmosphere for the couple of hours that it lasted, but in truth most of my enjoyment came from anticipation of that stuff from the trailer happening ... so when the credits rolled with that stuff never actually happening, my lingering final impression of the game was one of disappointment and feeling somewhat conned by the trailer.

    Yeah all the mystery from the trailer is pointless because it has so little pay off you almost can't spoil it. The game's ending is so abruptYeah all the mystery from the trailer is pointless because it has so little pay off you almost can't spoil it. The game's ending is so abrupt and lame. It took me about 2 hrs to beat but if you knew what you were doing you could probably finish it in under 30 minutes. There were a few puzzles and some repeating corridor type action but that's about it. The ending was lame as **** and the title was the only correlation there's actually no real mystery to this game. The only real mystery is how it still ran so poorly looking like a ps3 game Expand
