One of the best side scrolling shooter I've played, and the cover system brings some welcomed depth to the gameplay. It's not a very long game, but it's challenging enough to keep you busy for a while. From a technical viewpoint, the game is close to perfect.

"He was a man since he was a boy". This IS the best and most entertaining arcade shooter I've ever played! The graphics, music, sound effects and smooth game-play is excellent! It brings so many good memories back from my youth playing games in the arcades and watching badass action movies like Robocop, Blade Runner, The Warriors, Escape from NY, Terminator etc. Lots of great one liners"He was a man since he was a boy". This game is a must buy!

Huntdown is trying to achieve 80's/early 90's video game fun whilst being an homage to the culture of those times and still allowing for modern conveniences.

It succeeds in every way. Checkpoints are frequent, meaning there's little frustration but still a decent amount of skill required to progress. The only thing you need to do is complete a level completely to have progress

    It succeeds in every way.

Checkpoints are frequent, meaning there's little frustration but still a decent amount of skill required to progress. The only thing you need to do is complete a level completely to have progress saved. Perfect for dip in and out gameplay.

The gameplay itself is great - it's oldskool with an extra layer of sophistication due to the modern era, especially the bosses.

The humour is always present and fulfills the 80's style it promises, as does the gorgeous pixel graphics and soundtrack.

The bosses are much more interesting than anything I experienced back in the day and are a joy to overcome.

Get a bit drunk, remember the 80's, stick a controller in your hands and just enjoy the fun of it all.

I had lots of great time playing this and I heartily recommend it to anyone who loved the games of yesteryear.

there's 3 characters, they all play the same, same hp, same type of abilities, all enemies hit like trucks and gameplay is downright unfair, you basically have to play, memorize enemy patterns, repeat and find a way around them, finish the level, repeat again until you get all the level bonus.

Characters dont have any upgrades or special abilities and even the most basic enemy has more

Characters dont have any upgrades or special abilities and even the most basic enemy has more hp and damage than you, the only good thing going for you is that AI is dumb and repeats the same patters, but until you learn them it's die and die again.

doesn't feel at all you're playing like a badazz bounty hunter at all, they should have called the game letdown instead of huntdown

Well... it would have been fun when it came out in 2000.
Sounds like a boring game that shouldn't come out in 2020.

Greetings and Salutations everyone! It's your game reviewing MD here and I declare, if you like old school indie games, this indie ditty 'tis a gem. When I play indie shooters, I feel that I am always looking for a game that brings back the magic Hotline Miami 1 brought me, and while this game definitely isn't on that game's level, its an absolute treat I tell you!

Contra on the nes or for a more current game Broforce is a swell way to describe the way this game plays and I feel it is a better overall than both those games as well as more fun. I know you old school gamers will go to my Yelp page and review bomb my well respected and highly profitable medical practice for "blasphemy" I spoke about an all time classic, but that is how I dog-gone feel so don't read the riot act on me for Pete's sake!

Anywho, I think you should play this game on hard from the get go to experience the real gritty, onerous experience. One review below said this game is unfair and when my peepers saw that I almost spit up my steak'um sandwich allover my computer monitor. This game unadulterated fun mixed with strategy and a lot of trail and error. I also can be played with a friend or a lover or a friend that becomes your lover but alas, I did not get this chance.

Go out and get this game now you **** Make haste and play this now, and thank your favorite gaming medic later! Be gone!

P.S There is no physical version of this game and you can only download it so that last paragraph was only meant to galvanize all of you fine folks.

A modern retro 2D shooter with a cyberpunk setting and grungy art style. It reminded me of the Sega Genesis classic "Robocop Vs. Terminator". The game is challenging, but not ultra difficult. Enemy attacks are surprising and bosses can be tough. But there are several checkpoints and health refills in each level. While playing solo is fun, the two-player coop mode is terrific. POWERFUL music and hard game! It's really great in the vein of Katana Zero and Cybershadow. Those 3 games will give you your 8 bit feed for the soul as they're SUPER hard and if you survive you are one of the greats! Hotline Miami is also pretty good but it always felt kinda clunky with the overhead view

Grandisimo juego!

Huntdown has been out for a while, but it's a good, silly tonic for players looking for a nice distraction from all of the heavy and involved open-world adventuring out there. It'll scratch most of your action itches and, if you're a certain age like me, it'll bring back a few memories of a bygone era. It's not the worst thing to think about.

Huntdown is a tribute to eighties movies and games. It combines the action from titles as Streets of Rage and movies like The Warriors and Last Action Hero in a side-scrolling shooter, which is best enjoyed in co-op. That way the game really gets to shine and entertain you with all its glory. Shooting hundreds of enemies in four worlds never was so much fun together, even if there are a few things off balance at some moments.

It’s a cyberpunk dystopia, filled with every kind of throwback to what the 80’s thought the future would be, and it’s fantastic. You won’t need to Voight-Kampff me on this one, the sheer grin on my face will prove I’m human when I play this.
