Apparently the people who developed Frozen Wilds paid no attention whatsoever to what people -
including me - liked about the original HZD. Sure, there's some exploration and story, but very little character development and you can totally forget about sneaking up on anything. The machines are all hyper-aware and almost all too strong to be killed with a single silent attack. Instead

The machines are all hyper-aware and almost all too strong to be killed with a single silent attack. Instead you'll often find yourself in an open arena surrounded by several enemies you'd seen and maybe a few stalkers you hadn't. Fun. Then there are the $#@! boss fights. Machines that take a hundred hits for you to kill, but they can kill you with only two or three, plus they're super-agile and 100% focused on you. Any companions are absolutely useless either for doing damage or for drawing aggro. So it's run and gun, run and gun, get killed, reload, run and gun, ad nauseam, until you get lucky and are allowed to proceed to anything remotely interesting. It's not worth suffering through that for the little dribs and drabs of secondary story on offer. Save your money and buy a game with a truly open world.

HZD is one of the best games I've ever played. Frozen Wilds is a big let down. The Banuk tribe is extremely boring and the dlc story is essentially a rehash of the less interesting line in the base game's plot (demonic AI corrupting machines). There are no interesting characters I can recall and, worse, the latent feminism in the base game, which didn't bother me, here blossoms into fullHZD is one of the best games I've ever played. There are no interesting characters I can recall and, worse, the latent feminism in the base game, which didn't bother me, here blossoms into full toxic gender war where all women are strong and morally impecable while men must be portrayed as flawed one way or another. Gameplay fun is seriously nerfed because most of the machines are "demonic" hence cannot be corrupted nor overriden and stealth opportunities are much more rare. Lots of glinthawks, imo the most annoying creatures in HZD, and here dealing with them is worse due to the steep terrain frequently blocking the view. Last but not least, the new bear robots are omniscient bullet sponges and a significant portion of the expansion playtime is grinding fights against them. Frozen Wilds gets a 4 from me because there are a couple of interesting side quests and some new equipment to buy, but I'd only recommend it for players who have finished the main game in the most difficult setting and need badly a final HZD fix. Specially social justice warriors who think men are the worst and should be put in their place. Expand

Ein schwaches Addon, leider war es für mich eine Geldverschwendung und außer guter Grafik blieb mir nichts, wenigstens der Schnee sah toll aus.

Yawn, what a snooze fest. If you were board with the main story, this wont wake you up. Flat dialog, terrible animations, visuals should be better for running a on a "PRO" system. Not worth the GB to download.

Boring DLC for an allready mediocre game, this game falls into the allready continued trend by sony to focus on "cinematic" experience, instead of focusing on gameplay. Subpar story combined with to tedious combat and horrendous voice acting, doesnt do this game any favours. Avoid at all costs.

This dlc is an expansion on the same wavelength as what plagues the main story...the continuation of the gender war. Aloy is once again granted power over a man, in which she takes the reigns of command away from him...despite being an outsider. After which, he becomes docile, and fixated on Aloy's every move within the wilds.

If you caught on to the gender war in the main story, and were irritated by it, then don't waste your money on this. As I mentioned above, this dlc follows the same direction. However, if you wish to ignore the narrative, the (only) benefit of the wilds is that the most powerful weapons are there. In that regard...it may be worth it to you to purchase the dlc. Since this dlc continues the unrelenting assault on the mind with it's gender war agenda, it gets the same score as the main story.

Так сложно сделать хорошую игру? Это просто не реалестично, как все в этой игре могут быть такими жирными если люди голодают? А? Still more of the same boring game with none of the issues (fun) being fixed.

Não gostei. Nem consegui terminar. Você só consegue jogar se tiver com um nivel muito alto no primeiro jogo... bem dificil. Nao sei nem dizer sobre a historia, mas ate o momento que cheguei, nao me cativou.

There's little to no story relevant to the main story line in this expansion pack, but towards the end they kept dragging on by giving you pieces of side quests not all at the same time so you have to waste time traveling back and forth.

The new monsters are a lot more aggressive and they tend to be up in your face. Add that to the poorly done third person camera in this game and you

A lot of time you really struggle to see what's going on because it's difficult to see the immediate surroundings with the camera.

This has really fun collectables, beautiful landscapes, but a really boring story with trash side quests and one of the worst side pieces ever: the hunting grounds. Almost twenty hours in the Horizon's world brings new fun. Anything that extends this great game is great, and The Frozen Wilds prove this completely. [Issue#282]

A solid expansion to a great game. It even managed to improve combat which originally already had the best design among all the open world games I’ve played. [01/2018, p.68]

This addon can defend its existence with its head raised. The Frozen Wilds add on comes only with little improvements and a weaker story than the original game. But it does not lose the excellent gameplay and in 10-15hrs gametime it offers a selection of the best.
