    "INITIATING TELEPORT SEQUENCE

Fun dual joystick shooter held back by terrible netcode.

Lot of positive aspects. Graphics are quite nice. Gameplay is fluid with good framerate. Controls are responsive. Multiplayer aspect works perfectly (two were playing on the same console with me online). There's quite a nice range of diversified weapons and stratagems.

On the other hand, the missions/objectives and map design suck hard. The kind of empty sandbox square map where you have the same mini-objectives (most of the time stay in position while a countdown goes on) placed randomly that get repeated over and over again from one mission to another. The enemies just spawn randomly indefinitely instead of being placed at strategic positions. I was expecting more fleshed out quests, you know with exploration, waypoints, events, bosses and such. After tonight, I don't expect the game to evolve much more than what I already saw. A bit disappointing and overrated for this reason.

For right noe, i can only give this game a 7. I have been waiting for this game since i first heard about it coming to PS Vita in February 2013. So far I have only put about an hour into it on PS4, and after only 4 missions, i like the gameplay and mechanics. I love twin stick shooters, so this was a day one purchase for me, however, as of now I'm not a big fan of the short missions. TheFor right noe, i can only give this game a 7. I love twin stick shooters, so this was a day one purchase for me, however, as of now I'm not a big fan of the short missions. The first 4 missions that I have played have all consisted of completing 1 objective, like activating a SAM launcher, and then moving to the extraction point, and ending the mission. I do like the drop in/drop out multi-player, but so far of the missions I've played, players drop in right at the end, and dont really get to experience anything. So for now I've had to switch my lobby to private to stop from ruining everyone else's experience of dropping into my game when I have already completed the objective. I really hope that the more that I play, the better the missions will get, so that it really gives me an incentive to play multi-player. I'm sure it will, bit in the early missions its just not worth it to force would be teammates to join in just to view a loading screen. Expand

Hello everyone B-rod here again to review Helldivers Masters of the Galaxy. When Arrowhead Game Studios made this game what they were doing was writing a love letter to Starship Troopers. This game is like if you take Starship Troopers, the future part of Terminator, and Pandorum then just mixed into a blender. Sadly with the zero amount of story that is in this game we must just jump into graphics and sound.

The games sound is good for the most part. The guns is what really sticks out to me. Unlike most games where you can reload as often as you please. This game takes a realistic take on reloading where if you reload prematurely then you might lose half a clip. This is hard to overcome at first. The game uses a unique sound to tell you when you are almost out of bullets. Besides that the rest is fairly generic. The game looks good but desilent. The planets you go to might be different terrain but they all end up being the same. You never invade a planet with a base or town or anything really. The character models seem like they took Destiny's idea and just said, "how about we make that with more capes". The enemy design is at least unique, but unless you play on a harder difficulty you will rarely see variant of enemies.

The gameplay is the most team killing co-op game in its existence. Let me tell you what can kill you besides enemies. Players shooting, driving, players turrets shooting, player calling in supplies to help the battle, you calling in supplies, your own turret, not stopping a vehicle before you exit, and lets not forget a new player joining or just spawning. All that and more is trying to kill you. (and people say Dark Souls is for masochist) The game is a top down dual joystick shooter, which is a fun style of game but not lasting in my opinion. It has a level up system to make yourself more badass, but it seems like it takes forever to earn the points and when you fully upgrade a weapon I never saw much of a difference. The game has so many support options that you can call into battle to save your ass. Except if you are in a real pickle you don't have time to press up, up,down, left, left, right, for an air strike. The game is hard as hell and if you are like me and enjoy more of a single player experience then this game isn't for you. Hell as a co-op focused experience I wish it was easier to get rid of trolls. I had a couple of times I was almost done with a planet and people joined and spent the entire time killing each other ruining my reward.

Overall the game is long yet can get repetitive at the same time. If you have friends that own this I can see this being days of bug killing, robo-smashing fun. If you don't I'd honestly say don't bother because playing with random people can be frustrating and alone is kinda boring. I still like the game but could never recommend it to the average gamer. If you're looking for a co-op game to play with friend or girlfriend this is it. I give it a 3/5. I leave with a question. Why the hell can't we just get a Starship Troopers game already?

I'm giving it a 6/10 due to respect for the decent gameplay, graphics, and design. I, however, did not enjoy it and just find these top-down coop shooters that much fun. If you like these kinds of games, it might be decent.

    PS+ game February 2016:

Another freebie, and one that I was actually considering buying on it's release (but was released at a time of many good AAA titles!). Helldivers is an interesting game. It offers twin-stick shooter style action with multi-player chaos. What I wasn't expecting was the satire much alike star-ship-troopers. Which I absolutely loved. Organised chaos: Don't

Organised chaos: Don't expect to be a camper, sniper, or tactician in any way when you get into the multi-player. As swarms of enemies approach, you will do well just to organise yourself enough with others not to have cross-fire! It's manic. Expect a high death count. Expect to die from players re-spawning landing on you. But with this, expect a lot of fun!

The game feels familiar in combat and even the enemies, but the graphics are very polished and the sound is exceptional and very engaging. As a free game I think this may stay on my harddrive for a while

Multiplayer game. The game is semi fun with a partner, other it is a pretty basic game, and I cant really say it did much for me. Felt very repetitive.

Easy to learn, very nice co-operation game. Playing with this game is so fun, but this isn't a game in which I could spend more than 10 hours. Repetitive missions and the customization of your avatar is quite limited. If you like playing with friends, this game will be very fun and good for you.

This game is hard if your playing in parties of 1 - 3 so I would suggest you embrace the chaos and get filled up. Unfortunately it is really easy to kill teammates and draw attention to you and your team so surviving the mission is hard.

With some great cooperative mechanics, Helldivers is better when playing with friends, but repetitive missions and maps lacks experience.
