If you've played the Vita version, you know exactly what you're getting into. To this day, Gravity Rush is still my favorite PS Vita game. Included in the Remastered version is all the DLC from the original, along with the obvious resolution/framerate/etc boost. It looks better, runs better, and feels better.
Patiently waiting for Gravity Rush 2.

I guess those who enjoy awesome graphics might feel a bit disappointed, seeing that in terms of graphics, it is obvious the game is not a ps4 native. Said that, artistically speaking the game is fantastic, the design of both the areas and characters is great, although maybe could have been a bit better in terms of monsters, but still good. Story is decent, I would not say it is the strongest feature of the game but it is decent, my main criticism comes from the fact that the story poses a lot of questions but it doesn’t answer a lot, giving me a feeling that the story is left kind of unfinished. Good thing about this is that there is good foundations for an awesome story in gravity rush 2, a lot of mysteries will get solved I guess. Also, the main character is a bit too naive and light hearted maybe for my liking, but again, I guess it makes sense considering the game is about her not remembering anything about her past (not a spoiler really, because you learn about this in like the first minute of the game). Finally, I’d say the gameplay is the real strong point of this game, it is really fun to play and the gravity powers are awesome to play with. It gives you a freedom to explore the areas that is not very usual in this kind of games. Combat is smooth and works well and it is fast paced, I’d just summarise it by saying it is really nice and fun to play. You’ll need a bit of time to get used to the powers but once you do, you’ll realise the controls are really good and that makes you feel you’re in real control of the character.

Summarising guys, this game is quite good. I’d call it a “decaf” sandbox as there aren’t as many things to do and the map is kind of small compared to other games. That is not necessarily bad, as in my case, after playing MGSV, I wanted something a bit less massive but it might be a let-down for some people. Just to give you an idea, you can probably get platinum (easy one) in 25 hours or so. Still I think it is a really good game for a really good price, really good fun and lets you wanting for more. If you like this kind of game I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I've played so many games now that I often feel like its hard to find really the unique experiences. Gravity Rush has completely caught me off guard. This is an incredibly fresh and rewarding game. It has everything going for it; from the thrilling gameplay, to the stylish anime art, and an engaging story-line.

The wonderfully stylish art and the fairly lighthearted story mesh together very well. The world has a crisp anime look and takes inspiration from French art works. You experience the world through Kat. Kat wakes with amnesia but quickly finds she can manipulate gravity thanks to her mysterious cat Dusty. You find yourself in a floating city that is struggling to fend off an infestation of these monsters called Nevi. You quickly run into an officer named Syd who recruits you to help protect the city. Along you're journey you run into another shifter named Raven and its unclear a first what her intentions are but as you progress you'll find that she is in a difficult predicament.

The main aspect of this game that will suck you in and keep you coming back is the ability to control your own gravity. By just the press of a button Kat will start to float in the air. Then all you have to do is aim at where you want to go and press the same button to send Kat falling in that direction. It feels a lot like flying but its really more a change of perspective as you'll proceed to walk on walls and collect gems hanging beneath various structures. There are gems scattered all over the world and trying to find them all is incredibly addicting. You can use them to upgrade Kat's abilities such as increasing her ability to manipulate gravity or strengthen her combat powers.

The gameplay is divided between story missions, side quests, and challenges. All three will often be focused on combating the Nevi. You can use gravity to your advantage as you perform flying kicks and hurl objects by picking them up in a stasis fields. The challenges not only test you're combat prowess but test how well you can quickly manipulate your gravity for precision and speed in various time trials around the city. The side quests are mostly silly stories that require you to dress up in new outfits for tasks such as infiltrating a local gang or attempting to satisfy a grumpy house wife.

Everything about the game feels like it was crafted with a lot of passion by a team with a strong, united, vision. The gameplay and gravity manipulation feels absolutely amazing, there is nothing quite like it. The story has a lot of memorable characters that will have you smiling or gleefully scouring from the story's silly moments to the incredibly stubborn antagonists. Coming from someone that has played his fair share of games I must say Gravity Rush is a very unique experience and I couldn't be more happy I tried it. In my mind this is a must play for any one with a PS4 of Vita.

Gravity Rush was a great PS Vita launch game, and now it's been remastered on PS4.

It's an original IP by Sony's Japan Studio with a cute teenage heroine who can manipulate gravity at her will (well, actually her cat companion does that for her, but who cares?). The game is an open world with missions and side quests, set in a map consisting of 3 airborne "cities" connected with train rails while zeppelins roam free. The graphics are cel-shaded, and pretty nice. The story is good, too, and is presented as a comic book, with strips of frames which can be rotated a bit while tilting the Dualshock 4. Gameplay is robust but a bit constrained due to either a few strange design choices or the limitations of its original platform, the PS Vita. But the shifts of gravity are what will remain etched in your memory forever. You can freely reset the gravity at any point so that up is down, or left is down, and so on.

On PS4 the game has been remastered by specialists Bluepoint Studio and runs at 60 fps with 1080p resolution, while the Vita version run at 30 fps with a low resolution. It also contains the 3 DLCs in the package for free. Nice!

My score represents the game's originality and quality, despite some minor gripes of mine. Buy either the remaster on PS4 or the PS Vita version and you won't regret it. There is also a sequel on PS4. Let's hope this series continues even after Gravity Rush 2.

It's sad that one of the main exclusives of sony's handled is no exclusive anymore, but in the other hand this version plays better and also have all the dlc missions. I think is a bit expensive... 19.99 dls would be a better price IMO, nevertheless is a worth try.

To start, yes, the remaster could have been better, in terms of improving visual aesthetics. However, for anyone who has not played the original Vita version, this is a great buy. Solid 60 FPS makes the game combat much less tedious in terms of timing and learning enemy patterns, and the combat in general has been tweaked to better improve on the Vita's bothersome touchscreen combat. Angry Rant Incoming!!! (Do not read if you can't handle criticism)

I just finished Gravity Rush Remastered about 10 minutes ago, and was left in shock over how many features that are straight up missing, or just wasn't included due to corner cuts. For the record; I did not play the vita version. This is just me randomly buying the game on the Playstation Store, playing it all the way through, and then unleashing the frustration in this review over a "Remastered" game that quite frankly should have had more effort put into it. Yes, the Gravity feature is amazing! Yes, exploring an open world is fun to do at first. Yes, the platforming levels are exciting at times. But beyond that slice of pie is a raw hollowed out filling that might as well be taken back for a refund, especially at the $32 canadian pricetag. You can to do the math work to figure out how much money that is in your country if you're not from Canada. Either way, I feel like I was conned, and here's why...

Before I start bashing the game, here are a list of good things about it...

    - Interesting Story
    - Colourful Characters
    - Unique Gravity controls and concept (well maybe not, I haven't played many super hero games to know for sure)
    - The flight camera cooperates with the player reasonably well, and can easily be adjusted to the player's liking in the menu.
    - Multiple costumes to pick from.

Now for the rest, I made a list of all the bad things discovered within my first 5 minutes of playing. Here it is...

    - No English Dubs.
(Did you know that gaming companies have been hiring dub teams since the original playstation era? I'm sick and tired of playing foreign games that don't bother hiring english voice actors. When companies cut corners, it show's that they don't care about their product, and lack of english dubs is a pretty big oversight considering most of the sales, as well as Gravity Rush sales itself, come from america. Look it up. And no, French isn't a madeup language.)
    - Forced Tutorial.
(This is a terrible trend in today's gaming that makes gamers feel like idiots. Tutorials are great, but keep them in a different part of a menu! Do not shove them in a players face. I know how to f***in jump! Let me learn the controls on my own!
    - Rigid walking animations.
(If you can even call "jogging" a walking animation.)
    - No collision sound effects when you bump into people on the street.
    - Bumping into NPCs can bug them, causing them to awkwardly walk on the back of their heels.
    - No direction on how it wants to tell the story. It can't decide if it wants to use legit animations or storybook pages.
    - Hideous motion blur streetlights.
(This "Remastered" version didn't bother to fix up it's awful blur from streetlights... "Remastered" is the keyword.)

All of this found in 5 minutes!!! The open world idea was phrased in this review, but the reality is that Gravity Rush's world is completely barren. Even Grand Theft Auto III, a game that is more than a decade old, has more life & energy in it's civilians than the walking zombies you see in Gravity Rush. Gravity Rush tries to cover up this fact by spawning a lot of "precious gems" for you to collect during your free roaming, which are then used to power up your character. The power ups aren't necessary, just there. And once you tear off this mask, you begin to realize that the exploration in this game is utterly pointless, and you immediately go for the only thing that matters: which is the quests and time trials. This level of disappointment eventually transformed into pure unadulterated anger as I continued to uncover more questionable things that people in the User Score never stopped to think about. Here's the grocery list for all to see. Spoilers will be cut out for obvious reasons, but you can judge the rest...

    - Quest bugs can trigger, leading you in the wrong direction.
    - The Time Trials don't have a restart button. Made a mistake? Guess what! You have to quit the game and sit through 2 loading screens if you wanna try again! "Remastered" my ***!
    - Enemy variety is severely lacking. I can't say any more on the matter.
    - Only one boss battle is done decently, while the rest are....just boring, and predictable!
    - Copy/Pasted NPCs.
    - What's the point in interacting with a transportation vehicle if you can't even get in them!?! It doesn't even show a cutscene of the player riding it! >:(
    - Story quests constantly put you in your default attire, so you have to travel back home if you wanna put on your alternative costume again.
    - Terrible explosion effects.
    - Fetch quest spam!
    - The ending..... Are you serious!?! That's it???
    - Despite what you heard, the story can be completed in only 5 hours... ONLY 5 HOURS!?! The official world record is clocked in under 2 hours... Only 2 f***ing hours!?! Aughhh!!!!

The verdict is a 6 out of 10. I hated playing through this game because of all the missing elements and issues, but it's not a terrible game by all means. It's just wasted potential.

The game never felt too hard or too easy, which is a good thing. However, this is a highly technical game with a by-design learning curve. For example, if you stop too long to line up a target, you can be quickly overrun by a number of enemies during combat sections. In order to survive, you’ve got to keep flying and thinking on your toes. The graphics are superb, and the music is above average as well. - Style - we're all used to fancy cut scenes, so it's a bit of shock at first to see comic strips, but it makes sense and it's a great fit. Also the world and characters are cell shaded, so it all looks like an anime. The architecture has something from various European cities with slight variation between the 4 worlds.
    - Graphics - for a game remastered from Vita, it looks quite gorgeous. It's not up to par with games designed for PS4, but i feel they did a good job remastering whatever possible. I just with there was a bit of more color and more variation between the worlds.
Gameplay - that's the most unique thing about the game and the main selling point. Flying through the air, controlling gravity just feels awesome. The upgrade system makes sense and fully upgraded powers give you more freedom and power, so you will be driven to collect more gems. I have to admin i didn't invest in some upgrades as i never needed to.
Music - lovely music just adds to the whole atmosphere of the game
So what's bad? Some people might have difficulties with the camera and how the game controls. I got used to it pretty fast. The thing is that you are not flying in the game as it might seem, but you are falling all the time by controlling the gravity. So it looks uncontrolled and chaotic at first. For some the orientation on the battlefield might be cumbersome.
The story has it's strong points, but predictable to some degree and doesn't have a super satisfying ending. But hey, there's another game out already. This is again some point where some might like it and some not. If you like anime, you will love it.
If i consider the price/fun ratio, this is a solid 8/10. If this would be 50-60$ title, i would lower to 7/10. I'm approx. 3 hours into GR2 and i can already see they improved 90% of the stuff from the first game, but won't mix GR2 with GR Remastered for now.

This makeover of the 2012 original is worth playing, even for current owners of this essential Vita release. In spite of the somewhat simple gameplay, manipulating gravity is quite liberating.

It’s the game hardly anybody played, remade in such a way as to demand every respectable gamer's attention. Take the plunge. [April 2016, p70]
