No bad game but what really bugs me is that it is so overrated from critics. Probably the most overrated game series of all time. It doesn´t bring the gaming genre forward as it is just a very good big update to previous GTA Games. I also think it was a shame last year as this game had a higher metascore than The Last Of Us as that Game really revolutionized storytelling in gaming. This year it is the same again and i played both games again and GTA just feels a lot more repetitive and aged where i had still almost the same amount of fun with TLOU as last year. It is a good thing that metacritic has a user score but it is bad that it doesn´t get as much attention as the Metascore from critics. I think there should be a Meta-metascore where both are brought together because then we would finally see the real winner of 2013... Expand

Incredible attention to detail in the first person perspective is crazy, and each car and phone and whatever you interact with, is different in its own way and keeps your surroundings from becoming boring. This game is just as good, if not better than it was before and I am having a lot of fun reliving the Los Santos Heists, even though they STILL aren't in GTA Online. I would give a 9.5 out of 10 because I think full price for returning players is a little unfair, but all the same the game is fantastic. Expand

As if we were expecting anything more than a sheer masterpiece, Rockstar has managed to recreate 2013's Grand Theft Auto V with stunning visuals, a reinvented first person mode, and loads more to do. My only issues come from minor, minor drops in framerate in large areas, and driving in first person mode being a little stiff.

I also just want to say I'm sick of false reviewers who did not buy this edition of the game but come on throwing 0's 1s and 2s because they feel they have a right to throw mud at something. Useless people who probably get grumpy when the sun shines.

While overall a good release of an existing modern classic, it needed more optimisation. The frame drops while driving fast cars in the city are almost constant on the PS4, and since that's one of the main activities in the game more people should really have called them out on it.

This is the review of someone who bought it on PS3, and again on PS4. And yes it's a 10/10, and I'm not giving 10/10 easily

I'm now 20 hours in on PS4, I had already finished the game on PS3, and the first thing to say is that the First-person mode changes everything. They didn't just add a camera angle, they created many animations, it's a real first-person mode, and it's well done.

They didn't just add a camera angle, they created many animations, it's a real first-person mode, and it's well done. Playing the storyline in first person is a whole new experience. The story hasn't changed but we were aware of that.

There are more cars, more animals (including cats and dogs), but only in singleplayer mode. The online mode loads faster, there are 30 people on it, and it runs smooth. The graphics could be better but let's be honest, we're talking about a huge open world game, no loading screen when you enter a building, tons of npc's, tons of little details, and new easter eggs (check the peyotl plants).

Another good point nowadays : Rockstar. They learned from the online launch fiasco, there were some problems the first day but everything is gone now, They really solve your problems, with that little extra (I had not received my 500.000 cash bonus, they solved it in 3 days and added 200.000 GTA$ for the inconvenience. What else ?

This is just how a game comapny should behave. No DLC's but free updates and new content during the whole year, and comprehensive support team. 10/10

Most of the negative reviews are coming from the "PC master race", and they haven't played it yet, so there you go. I'm sure they'll do amazing mods but they need to calm down on the console reviews. If you haven't played it yet, go for it, you won't be disappointed. If you already played it, I would say it depends on how you feel with the first-person experience.

First person is a really cool addition, but you'll still be experiencing the same missions and locations just from a different perspective. There a few small reasons to pick it up though, new animals roam the wilderness and oceans, a few new missions and sidequests are available, along with new weapons and vehicles that you can use.

Multiplayer is very much the same, with the only improvement being the player count. 16 people was trouble enough but now you'll have to deal with 30 other sticky bomb throwing a**holes, which should create some interesting scenarios, especially because the same player count is available in races and deathmatches.

Overall it's very much the same as the original, with a few new cool gimmicks and additions, although i still feel there a obvious things missing that would make GTA V the complete package. None the less a great game and a good purchase to make if you've ran out of things to play on your new system.

But if you were going to buy this re-release for the long forgotten heist's....... you'll be disappointed.

Amazing game, if you bought the previous generation version, I don't see enough reasons for you to pay full price to upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One versions. As for PC, modding is a good reason to spend the money. I own the PS4 version, it runs and looks great, but has some Online connection hiccups, which brings it to a 9 out of 10 in my opinion.

The 1080p resolution makes a noticeable difference on its own. The jaggie edges etc from last gen have gone and everything looks crisp and clear. Then i noticed how much more vibrant it is compared to last gen. The colours pop more and the lighting effects are way better. The next thing i noticed was the level of detail has increased. Its lots of small details that add up to a big change. For instance. The cars are now shiny and reflect light. They are also more detailed. You can see more detail in break lights and such. Even chrome wheels look chrome and reflect light. Road surfaces etc have more detail in the way of cracks, moss, dirt etc. Its all had a texture bump to look more realistic. There is now more litter laying and even blowing around the game world. Plastic bags and things blow around. There is also bits of foliage and other debris blowing around all the time. It makes the whole game world feel more alive. The foliage system has been increased dramatically right across the game world. There are now more trees, flowers, grass and such. Some of the trees and foliage is the same as previous gen but with bumped up textures, but then there are a lot of new trees and foliage too. It looks great. Water has had a texture increase and now seems to be a bit more erratic in places. The waves seem more wild and the crash and splash against rocks is now more so. The rain effects have seen quite a drastic change. It looks much more realistic and even floods the game world by leaving puddles all over. And thanks to the new lighting system, lights, fire etc cast reflections in the puddles and ocean. You can even see rain droplets in the ocean. It looks very impressive and is probably the most drastic change of all. There are now more cars than ever before. Even cars from previous GTAIV and Episodes From Liberty City have been added, plus lots of new ones. The traffic has also been increased, but not so much it makes it difficult to get around. Its just about right. There is now an in car view too. Each car has its own in car dashboard view and interior. Some have gages, and some have digitial gages. It even shows the radio station and the name of the song that you are listening to on the radio. They even light up. It all looks great, but just don't expect the same level of detail as say Forza or Project Gotham Racing. You can see gages, lights, text on the radio, leather effect seats etc in clear detail though. There is also a first person view which makes it a whole different game. You can aim down the sites of your guns in different ways, roll, cover, everything. It makes for a new GTA experience. Personally i only really use the first person mode while driving and stay in 3rd person when out of the car. But you can do as you please. So its nice to have all the extra options. Character models, especially the main characters, all have a new level of detail and look even better than before. You can see scars, hairs, pigmentation and wrinkles in the skin. It makes them feel more alive. There are also more animals and insects than before. From cats, dolphins, moths, killer whales, hammer head sharks and more. Even older animals like dogs have been increased. Pedestrian numbers have also been increased. There are now more with more variety. AI of pedestrians has been increased too. They will try and steal your car and all sorts. Sounds have also seen a big increase and make the whole thing feel more alive and realistic. And 100 more songs have been added, as has new radio chatter. Damage to cars has also been upgraded a bit. I'm sure there is more that i've missed. The only problem i have with this game is that the story and missions are the worst in the GTA franchise. As a technical achievement it is a 10/10. But because of the story and missions i give it an 8. Expand

    PS4 VERSION:

Upon first impressions, I thought technically it's quite impressive that GTA5 runs reasonably well on PS4; however, not being able to maintain 30fps is a bit of a joke in this day and age. Yes, the map is large and there's stuff going on all around you, but when driving down a road and witnessing 22-23fps (which makes it's virtually impossible to drive well at speed) it's not impressive, it's actually irritating. The PS4 (and XB1) simply cannot achieve a solid 1080p/30fps with GTA5. Rockstar clearly had to make the game 1080p, otherwise it probably wouldn't have looked a significant amount better than the PS360 version.

It's no surprise to me that the latest generation of consoles can't manage 1080p/60fps in the bigger games, but if they can't run a game at a solid 30fps, then turn down effects; remove details; dial down draw distance; whatever, to maintain a SOLID 30fps. It'll still look better than the previous version and a SOLID 30fps (as exhibited perfectly by Forza Horizon 2) plays well enough.

So, if dipping frame rates bother you, driving anywhere slightly busy on the PS4 version of GTA5 will be an irritating experience.

Apart from that it's typical GTA fare. However, GTA5, to me, feels like the fun and interested stuff in GTA3/4 (you know, the things you could spend time on when not wanting to play the main story) have been stripped out and replaced with nothing. Maybe I've simply had my fill of GTA games (I'm 39 and been playing computer games for 30 years) and the childish repetition has finally smacked me in the face. I don't honestly know.

Whatever the issue, I find the game boring. Same old, same old. Nothing new here. Maybe the online gamers will find more pleasure from it.

As a newcomer, GTA5 is probably an amazing experience. I find it an average timewaster.

The graphics are considerably better than previous-gen versions of this game, but there is still some noticeable pop-up and pop-in from time to time. Which has been an ongoing thing with pretty much every GTA game since GTAIII, so most GTA fans won't care. Also, any people who have already decided they don't like the GTA series based on the gameplay and somewhat repetitive nature of the missions will NOT be won over by this game.

However, I still recommend this game if you do love the series and want to play the best incarnation of it yet. Especially if you never played it on previous-gen consoles.
