No GT mode in GT Sport is what defines the deception. You've a lot less cars, tracks and modes than Forza Motorsport 7 and Project Cars 2. This industry is setting aside the ones who dont want to play online, it's a shame.

Rented this game. What a smart decision. Lots of money saved. This game is absolute trash. GT6 was great but screw this. Going to buy PCARS 2 instead. Bye bye GT you were king in PS2 days but absolute trash in PS4 days. Horrible game.

    Very disappointing.
Loved the GT series but nothing like old GT.
This is only for people who want to go online race and pay a subscription to play.
Limited game play for single players, poor lineup of cars and very few tracks to choose from.

Desperately needs more cars. This library of cars is downright pathetic. Its so great we get an whole screen (in the car section btw, wtf?!) dedicated to some guy who makes watches...and has nothing to do with cars or racing, but the entire car library looks to be about 20 cars, if you don't include the variants of the same car, which is 90% of them. Online racing is good, people don't wreck too much because there is a good "Sportsmanship" system in place, which I do really appreciate. The racing is good, the cars handle great, the online racing is actually enjoyable (because people aren't slamming into you all race)....but with 2 whole cars I'm interested in driving, I'm bored after 1 day.

sorry Sony & sorry GT, but I'm more than happy to stick with my PS3 & GT 6 for now, and God i really miss GT 2 & 4, tears running down my face lol sigh...

sadly the new generation of racing car users who no nothing of GT 2 OR 4, wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about & they have entered the gaming experience in its online content version, so they will most likely be happy with that, which means we may never see the likes of GT 2 or 4 in the future & that's really sad...

oh well, it's just my opinion...but i hope sony & GT bring back an upgraded combined version of what we all loved about GT 2 & 4

peace & love to u all, but u just lost out on a sale from a veteran...

Makes me think that other developers arent pushing the PS4 at all. The sound has surely been enhanced and for the first time sounds decent enough that its worthy of your surround sound system. The handling is on point for the most part as is the feel of speed but a few cars do feel oddly out of touch with the rest of the game.

Now i will get to what i dont like, Online online online. Yes PD has put some offline features in with patches but overall they still require a connection or none of your hard work can be saved. Nothing is worse than getting a game you cant really use if the servers go down and even if they do and you decide to play the offline stuff you still cant save it. Offline saves must become a thing and i will bump it up another point.

Its a must buy for any racing fan on PS4 but just make sure you know it relies on Sony/PD to keep it alive with the servers.

Then came GT 2 to 6 and it continued on from there, but even though the car library increased to over 1k they got lazy with the detail and also that recycled 'Hoover vacuum cleaner' sound for every car engine. GT Sport may not have that many cars but the detail and individual car engine noises gives it back that sense of realism.

The only reason I dropped the score is the missing real 'Campaign' mode. The single player challenges and track mastery challenges are fun but that's not the whole GT. GT to me like in the original was to get my license, buy a cheap a$$ car for less than 10k, grind race wins and upgrade and eventually get my Toyota Supra RZ (back in the day).

The new Sport mode has a cool way of matchmaking with other races. Each online race has a real time schedule where you must prepare and use the count down timer to do some qualifier laps to get a position for the race. You're matchmaking is determined by 2 things. Driver skill, how well you do in the race. The other is sportsmanship rating, bumping and pushing cars out of the way will reduce that rating and next time will match you with other 'unsportsman like' racers.

Bit lazy so I'll state the below:

    Pros:
    - Mind blowing visuals and sound
    - Brought back the car lore in the menus
    - Calendar Real time race schedules
    - Sportmanship rankings included with Driver skill matchmaking (if you're bumper car driver, you'll be matched with other bumper car drivers)
    - Endless car decal customisations creations and sharing and you can add you're own on the GT website
    - Global and Friend Leaderboards for challenges, time trials license tests etc.

    Cons:
    - No traditional GT Campaign mode
    - No way to party up with friends apart from creating private lobbies (it'll be good to party up Sport mode)
    - Limited cars and tracks (but GT being GT, we'll expect some more cars and tracks and also a Campaign mode I hear)
    - No weather changes (a big one for me, weather is a big game changer in a long race). Loved it on Project Cars.
    - Too much emphasis on Hyper Cars for my liking.

Not a bad game, but I sort of understand the change to cater for the E sports scene, which I think it will be very good at. But this will divide the fans, hopefully we get some extra content to cater the masses.

It is kind of let down not to have so many cars and tracks and not to drive against AI for money to buy a new car and get upgrade parts for it. But I knew it before i bought the game so i knew what to expect. The biggest problem with GT Sports that it tries so hard to be an online racer but doesnt accomplish on that part. The game for me was fun in the beginning but since i started online racing its been just frustrating to the part that i decided, it´s better not to play it anymore. And i gave the game really a fair chance i played 24 hours and i´m level 25. Driver Rating on the edge to B und sportsmanship C. But besides online play there is not much to do and online play is so painfully frustrating i can´t take it anymore. You either crash in the back of other cars because they don´t know what they´re doing or you get pushed out of the track both actiossn decrease your sportsmanship rating. It is generally just no fun in it. I like to drive comepetitevely also i enjoyed some of the racer and some drivers drive clean but the majority does not. So get ready to be pushed around while lowering your sportsmanship rating so you get in a class where you get pushed around even more. Sorry this is NOT Sport! Expand

I was wary when I found out there would be no classic campaign like GT titles in the past. However after finally beating the campaign I have to say I like what they're trying to do with this game. This game is more about racing than collecting cars. Casual players like me might find it harder to win some races in the sports mode but I can see myself improving if I race more often because I'd then gain time faster and making less mistakes.

GT Sport consist of Arcade Mode for some offline racing against AI, Campaign Mode where you go through Driving School, Mission Challenges and Circuit experience to improve your driving. And then there is Sport mode where you race real players online in daily races and championships. Scapes mode for the camera loving people (my least used mode but you could create some stunning photos with this mode if that's your thing) also Lobby for online lobby. And that's pretty much it. This game looks to cater the online-only gamers, however it should be noted that offline mode called GT League is coming this December for all the offline players for free.

You buy cars from the Brand Central, however, you'd be rewarded with free cars if you finish the campaigns and play the game often (Because most rewards are random you could end up with double or triple of a same car). Basically if you play this game often, you won't need to buy cars (unless you really want the car that you never got as reward). Car selection is lacking if you compared it to GT6 (approx 150 cars at launch). And Track selections are limited as well. Thankfully, PD promised more cars and tracks are coming soon. For free.

You could still tune your cars but not the same as previous titles. You'll be able to change/design your car's livery, performance wise though you can't upgrade exhaust, manifold, intake, etc. You'd just trade in your Mileage points (another currency in the game besides credits) to upgrade your car's performance and weights. During sports mode the performance upgrades are irrelevant though because all cars would have fixed tune to make the race more balanced. (Gr.4 category is quite unbalanced sadly. The hot hatches are quite OP).

Graphics are stunning, the driving mechanics are fun but I'm a little disappointed that dynamic weather and day/night cycle doesn't return. I hope they will be added in future updates that would be epic.

The online racing is pretty good. You have Driver Ratings and Sportmanship Ratings. Basically if you drive like an a-hole you'd be paired with other a-holes. If you start playing you'd be paired with these aggressive drivers with low ratings. But as you get better and improve both ratings, I've seen some solid clean racing. It's not perfect though. The penalty system is pretty flawed and encourages dirty driving sometimes. Which is why I think PD should've implement damage physics. In my opinion if there is proper damage, it will deter those aggressive players screwing around other people who wants to race properly. Also they could've use the stop and go or drive thru the pits as penalties. However it's better than nothing (cough cough forza 7).

Sound is much improved. Every car doesn't sound the same (doesn't sound like vacuum cleaner anymore!) and has its own characteristics. They also sound different depending on which camera view of the car. The sounds are not exaggerated like the Forza series and not as brutal as Assetto Corsa but now you could alter with the sound volumes to your liking (increase engine sound, transmission shifts, tyres, etc). The soundtracks however, not as memorable as GT titles of the past (no famous bands, etc).

Pros of GT Sport: Excellent driving, stunning graphics, sounds are very good, sport mode is addicting, free updates! (No expansion passes, paid dlc, loot boxes), You unlock all the cars just by playing the game, you could compare time with other friends who play the game (you could even see how the fastest drivers do their lap to improve your own lap), has penalty sytem.

Cons of GT Sport: Limited tracks atm (more tracks incoming - I want Spa, Monza, Circuit deLa Sarthe, Yas Marina! ), limited cars selection atm (500+ more cars incoming in the future - I want more supercars and hypercars!), limited modes (GT League is coming soon), damage is disappointing, flawed penalty system, no day/night cycle, no dynamic weather (hopefully all this will be added/fixed in the future), tuning not as in depth such as Assetto Corsa or PCars 2, soundtracks not memorable (you could make your car's engine as your personal soundtrack though turn it all the way up!).

You may see me more cons than pros from me but this is just me a GT loyalist since the days of PS1 nitpicking. If all the cons are fixed/ updated than it would be a 10/10 title for me (except the soundtracks, it's unnecessary). If this is your first GT game you will definitely have fun with it. I'm loving this game despite the flaws.

The cycle of gameplay is: race cars in 2D, earn money and daily gift car, go into VR to admire recently acquired cars and then take them for a test drive. Rinse and repeat. I'm totally hooked on this routine.

The graphics, sound, music and presentation are all pristine too.

In summary GT Sport maintains the high standards of the series and the VR implementation takes it to a whole new level.

This game got me into cars. It's the most fun you'll ever have driving virtual cars in a video-game. The online mode is outstanding and the issues re: lack of content have more or less been addressed at this point. Plenty of fun to be had. I've been playing it for over a year now and have no reason to stop.

But penalty system its just polyphony. They changed penalty system to a total disaster.
You receiving penalties for BEING HIT! Only really serious hits are counted, but still hitted car gets penalty for hitting, for loosing the track, and need to start over. For putting other car to the fence you get MAYBE a 3s penalty and some MR points deducted, but that's nothing compare to the car on the fence which will loose about 10s :)
That game is a serious scam.
Go for project cars insteed, dont look at gt sport. ever.

Think of it this way, it's a Gran Turismo spin-off game that was initially all about online racing. Do not buy this expecting it to be exactly like a main-line Gran Turismo games which are primarily focused on their vast career modes and car lists. I will try to tell you all about this game in my review. To begin, over this games life, it has received MANY content updates which increased the car and track configuration list from 168 cars and 29 track configurations to 328 cars and 82 track configurations as of this review. they have also since added a more traditional career mode known as GT League. while the are many events in the GT Leauge as of this review it's obviously not as big as the GT Modes in main-line GT games. Other elements of the career mode include Driving School (Licence Test basically. However, you don't get a digital licence), Mission Challenge (A variety of challenging missions, pretty self-explanatory), and finally Circuit Experience (A very helpful and challenging mode which has all the tracks in the game divided up into mission that take place over sectors so that you can learn the tracks individually at your own pace.). All of the career mode events minus GT Leauge have in-game video tutorials to help guide you through the events, which is quite helpful especially if you are have trouble completing the events. Now let's talk about the driving experience. Id classify this game as a casual simulator. it's not quite simple enough to be considered a simcade game, however, it not exactly a hardcore sim either. This game performs perfectly well on a controller and you can win races online using it. also, there is a motion control option available which is absolutely superb, especially if you aren't ready or wanting to use a driving wheel. it allows you to get a better feel for the car and drive smoother and more consistently. With a Force Feedback Driving wheel, this game really sings. you can feel the weight of the car shift so much better and the wheel has a resistance that you can feel when turning, and it feels different in pretty much every car. Now onto sound design and visuals. To begin sounds in this game have been MASSIVELY improved compared to all other GT games that had preceded it. the sounds of the cars have more depth, for example, The Mercedes McLaren SLR has a deep sounding V8 sound which is further enhanced by the supercharger whine that could even be heard a bit outside the car. The environmental sounds have also been improved you can hear cheering spectators birds and wind resistance noises. Visually the game is stunning, especially when playing on a 4K HDR TV. the colour accuracy is on point, it's not over or undersaturated and the colours pop when they should like during the dramatic sunsets at certain times of day, and it gett dark when it needs to. Nighttime at the Nurburgring 24 soo dark that you have to rely on the headlights of your car to see in some areas. Performance-wise the game target 60fps at all time in every performance mode. I have been playing since launch and the frame never drop low enough for me to notice. Finally, let's talk about online gameplay. First, there is Sport Mode the one the game is named after there is 3 Daily Race that runs for a whole week before being replaced then there are FIA Manufacturer and Nations Cup races that run on strict schedules that are different depending on the race season. Personally, I quite like the Daily Races as they offer easy to enter events where you can race competitively with other players which make for some great fun battles that take place over a race. There are Ranking that helps the game match you with similarly skilled players. These are known as Sportsmanship (SR how safe a driver you are) and Driver Ratings (DR how much you improve your qualified position during the race). The is one complaint that comes up with online racing, however. The penalty system in the game punishes players that hit others and cut corners by penalizing them with slow down penalties. Unfortunately, the system can sometimes punish the victim in a collision which can be frustrating. Never the less Sport Mode produces some epic on-track action that you won't be forging for a while after wars. When you finally get your first win it's an immensely satisfying feeling that you may never forget. Everything considered this is definitely one of the best racing games this generation and its definitely worth your time. Thank you for reading! Expand

Ranking system points is so unobvious that you can finish in top 3 but point will be removed. Only fun gameplay which game provide is sheduled races which will always have influence on your rankings. If you want to have fun that go to custom lobbies and find fun for yourself. Penalty system with all changes still not work. Part of penalties are truth but in 10% of all incedents. Ranking system is unobvious. You can finish in top 3 or gain more that 10 positions and recieve decreasing of raiting (including best lap). If we are talking about competitive game this is wors example. All scheduled races is raiting ones. To gain raiting only is grind in 3rd event. If you dont like it or other 3 events you need to wait next week. It is obviously good try but all main mechenicks are not working. All cars are more slipery comparing to other sims.

Score 1 is litery based on main concept and realisation of concept. GT Sport is not bat in solo mode but solo mode dont have a lot of content and it is literaly empty. If we are talking about competitive side it literaly bad. This litery main and worst part of GT Sport. With unobvios and not representative (exept high levels) ranking and penalties system ranking mathcmaking is bad. If you want to chill in racing game better spend time in any other sim.

    Pros:
    - Sim game on PS4 with stable online (in end of 2020 game with stable online)
    - Good livery desing editor

    Cons:
    - Bad simulation cars are more slipery that in other games.
    - Bad and unobvious ranking and penalties system.
    - All multiplayer scheduled races are ranked (Dayly ones too)
    - If you want to find fun find it by yourself (including other games)
    - No singleplayer content.
    - Some of penalties litteraly unfair and require a lot of grind to restore it.

As result main part of games is concentaited on spotsmanship and ranking multiplayer. Unfortunatly it is not working.

If you're a fan of the older games, just completely ignore this entry. It's a mediocre racing, "simulator" completely ruined by a ridiculous penalty system and a useless driver rating system. The most recent update made it so that the penalty system no longer tries to identify fault and just penalizes both players involved in the collision. Which means when little Timmy decides to ram you off your racing line you both get hit with a 5+ second penalty and it throws your entire race. You would think the sportsmanship rating system would prevent you from getting matched with people like this, right?

Well you would be wrong. I was SR S and still regularly got matched with people who would intentionally brake way too soon intentionally attempting to cause a collision or would dive turns at insane speeds attempting to overtake. Which would lead to massive pile-ups in turns and everyone getting penalized. Polyphony's justification for this crap is, well you should be doing everything in your power to avoid getting hit even if you have to slam on the brakes or go off the track. This is chimp brain logic that Polyphony is using here.

Thanks to the penalty system and how hyper competitive they designed the game to be, the online component(which is now 85% of the game) is a busted mess and is extremely frustrating. This brings me nicely to my next point which is that this game is basically online only now. Even when doing offline races without an internet connection, you get no less than 2 error messages telling you that you need to connect to the internet after every race. You also get error messages every single time you do literally anything that would sync data with their servers. Buy a car, get an error message. Change your driver livery, get an error message. Change your racing suit, get an error message. Speaking of customization there basically is none now.

You remember how Gran Turismo was basically built on being able to customize your cars? That's good because Polyphony sure doesn't. There are 0 performance customizations available here besides basic stuff like tires. If you're expecting the classic Gran Turismo experience of spending time in the shop customizing and tweaking your cars there's absolutely NONE of that in this game. There's a pretty rudimentary livery editor for the cars, but that's it. The race rotation suffers from an extreme lack of content as well.

There are 3 official sport races PER WEEK. The races used to rotate once every 24 hours, but Polyphony realized that this might accidentally cause someone to have fun. So they fixed the problem immediately and made sure that no one could possibly have fun with this game. While there are private lobbies, as far as I know these don't award SR or DR. So if you're trying to climb the ranks private games are basically useless.

In conclusion: No Tracks, No cars and No fun allowed.

Also, the engine sounds still suck.

Just because it holds the name GT doesn't mean it will have a career mode, and since its been clearly stated its an online racing game since the announcement but still dropping points off of the score because it lacks something that was said wont be included shows how careless the reviewers are. Another point is the lack of cars, which again is compared to older installments that had a list of 1000+ cars, while also knowing that they scrapped most of the models and started from scratch (building some of the most detailed models I've seen in any game) which was also known from early on during the development cycle. I have been playing it for a couple of days now and I have to say I have been enjoying it for what it is...sure I'm sad that there's no campaign mode but I knew for a fact that it wasn't going to be included and I would happily wait for a campaign mode in GT7 once its announced. Now if that game doesn't include a campaign mode I'll be more than happy to be among the first to flame the game for not including it, because its what is expected to be in there, not in an online focused spin-off that just shares the name. I haven't tried the FIA races because thats not till November but the doing the challenges in the singleplayer modes and aiming for gold has been both frustrating and enjoyable. Online lobbies to screw around with people and show off liveries has also been tons of fun and lastly having a split-screen mode in 2017, especially in a racing game, is the best thing about this game. The game isn't perfect, but picking on it for not being something that was clearly stated it won't be is the dumbest thing that I've ever seen. I'd say it deserves an 8.5/10 but i gave it a 10 in hopes of this being seen and to also try and balance all the negative reviews its been getting for the reasons I've stated. You can downvote this all you want because its not bashing the game but I hope you acknowledge what is mentioned. Expand

    I give this a 6, borderline 5 for a released game.

    Pros:
    Amazing graphics
    Great physics engine
    Decent menu system

    Cons:
Low original vehicle count (see details)

    Online play only
Lack of tracks from previous versions that I loved
    Annoying tuning menu for vehicles
Wheels and gear have to be purchased with special currency instead of credits earned.

    Details:

I can see why many gamers and old school GT players like myself are not happy with this release. As I listed above, I'm not overly happy with what has been brought to the plate. First the pros about the game.

Stability wasn't initially an issue, network crashes are now common!
The graphics and not just the cars are top notch and i'm not even running a 4k TV.
    Physics engine is spot on.
Menu system is an improvement over GT6, though GT5 remains my favorite menu setup.

Now to what I consider the cons.

Though the original download of 35+ gig seemed small, I was unpleasantly surprised that I had to wait another 7 hours for the other 55+ gig to finish and was basically teased with the promise that at some point I would gain access to the rest of the menu system and be able to accomplish something other than an AI race. I would have preferred them just make me wait for the entire install because it seemed the system took longer to finish the remaining amount of data than the transfer speeds were of the first 35 gig.

Logged into game today at 8 PM EST and game is having maintenance during a prime hour which is normally unheard of. Back to Arcade mode again because progress can't be made during offline mode. If that is the case, maintenance should be during off hours in the time zones where players are normally awake.

Most disappointing was the vehicle list. 162 is the official count. Remove all the vehicles with the word "Vision" in the name and that drops to 128. I haven't took the time to count, yet. However, I'd surmise that there might be half that number in original vehicles in the game or around 64. Vehicles that are OEM make up maybe a third of the total vehicles. Don't get me wrong, race vehicles are needed of course. But, those Vision Concept vehicles are not. As a typical gear head, I'm interested in the OEM vehicles and tuning them and racing them. I don't have the money to do it in real life, so I get my need from GT or at least I used to. Now I've had to purchase Forza 7 to continue having the chance to drive a GTX, a GNX, or even an old school racer. The Vision cars in GTS do not even exist even as a concept to my knowledge, a few might, but they are definitely not built as a production model. I never wanted that from GT. It was built on the fact that it had a large number of vehicles. I have no problem with them lowering the amount of vehicles, but don't replace the ones you do have with non-existent make believe garbage when there are real life cars just as cool that people want the chance to drive, even digitally.

Lack of tracks is another major annoyance. Since GT1 there has been a super speedway (not an oval) that I used to test cars on. Others include Monza and Laguna Seca. Not available on GTS. Now tracks are appearing that I've never even seen before. Though neat, should be added in favor of the classic track icons that are world renown.

Some reviewers have been lauding the audio in the game as improved over previous versions. To me, the sound is identical to all the previous games. I think the main problem is that the sound of the vehicle is only heard from the back. Drivers like me are either in the cockpit or the bumper cam. I can only hear the exhaust note in GTS if I'm on the roof cam or in 3rd person behind the car. Otherwise all the vehicles sound like they have a supercharger wine to them even when the vehicle doesn't have a SC on it. Its like they don't even think of those things when testing the game. Either that or they don't care.

The final con I'll comment on is the tuning menu. You can tell they put it in as an afterthought. It doens't even have its own menu system. You do it through the car tuning section that is accessed even before races. Now you just have levels, not parts and you use special currency (not credits earned from racing) to level up the performance of the vehicle.

There are plenty of pure racing games out there. What made GT exciting was how it included every day drivers all the way up to race cars. If they turn this game into just another pure racing game, then I guess I'll bid the series a fond farewell and become a Forza fanboy even though I hate Microsoft products. I hate to say it, but I'm highly disappointed in the game. I'll still play it for a while because I bought it. Once, I get bored, I'll probably keeps tabs on it hoping that they release more cars/tracks or patch it in some way that brings back the GT feel that the game was built on. Not, mimic single minded racing games like iRacing.

Yes, there is no rain (yet).
Yes, it is a small amount of tracks.
But it is simply the best racing game that I have played until today. The gameplay is absolutely perfect. The graphics are beautiful. The car behaves exactly how it is supposed to behave, playing with a controller or with a driving wheel.
This game is about online racing, no doubt about that. It is Player vs player. May the best man win.
Playing with the ghost system is a pure joy. No idiots ramming you to make the corner. It is amazing. Gran Turismo communities are much better than any other racing games which allow you to have a lot of fun with a lot of different people.
If you are more of a offline player then maybe this isn't for you. But honestly there is no better choice on PS4.
9/10 for now. When they add more tracks, cars and rain it will be a 10/10.

This game is a load of fun, and I have played every GT in the series. While I wish there were more tracks and cars, I understand what Polyphony was going for with this game before I bought it. That said, the game has become addicting. To me, it is the OverWatch a online sim-racing. I get home, relax, and then spend about 2 hours a day progressing through Arcade races, getting better at the Daily Online races, and earning credits to build my garage collection. I haven’t even started the “campaign”, and I have 8 hours in the game already. GT has always been about getting the best time on a track and beating the opponent. That means racing the same track over and over until you nail it. I am 3 hours into Suzuka with a GR.4 car, and I still have not hit 1st place on a Professional Arcade race. I am great at setting hot laps, but I need work knowing when to pass people legally, or get the most out of an apex. This game pushes for these things. I don’t need to beat AI over and over again when, instead, I could be getting closer and closer to 1st place against real people, who all try to race clean and fair.

If you enjoy GT physics, sounds, and presentation, then you will get that here. I came for the Time Trials and the fun online competition where people try to be good racers. I have done the whole campaign thing 6 times now, so I don’t need that here. But if you need the 100+ hours of campaign AI cups, then stay away from this iteration. This title is for people who want to prove they are the best out there, while staying clean, not ramming, and enjoying some of the best competitive cars you can get.

    Honest review 8/10

10/10 to counter some of these nostalgiac nay-sayers, who have not removed this game from the numbered Gran Turismo series.

The most well polished GT game ever with the second best/most realistic gameplay and force feedback on console (second only to Assetto Corsa), and a solid base for what could very well become the overall best racing game ever made.

We'll see what happens with post launch support but as a starting point, it's a 10/10 effort from PD and the most addictive game I've played since Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain.

They've done so many things to fix the problems of past GT games like poor sound, poor AI, poor online racing, poor UI, unpolished graphics, poor framerate (GT6), etc. and they've literally fixed all of those. All of those factors are now fantastic in GT Sport, as well as the things GT has always been known for.

Yet now you have people whining about something else proving you can never satisfy everyone. They said this was to be an online focused GT game, and it is. People came in expecting the traditional and overdone GT career mode, and it's there but shorter and different so they whine and cry about it. News flash idiots, EXPECTATIONS HAVE NO AFFECT ON REALITY. The game is what it is, you not doing your research into what this game would be does not change the legitimate quality of the game.

So many reviews on here are straight up lying as well. IT IS NOT AN ALWAYS ONLINE GAME. These people are being completely misleading and dishonest. It is playable offline. If you have no connection to the internet at all, I wouldn't recommend it because you'd be limited to only a few cars and 3 tracks, but it is still factually not an online only title.

This game Lacks Content, Cars, it takes 30 minutes to start a match, The game needs PS Plus, and Online to everything EVEN TO SAVE and it shuts down Everyday, and the "Campaign" Mode has over 200 boring, generic missions with the same track like 5 times thats due to to the low amount of tracks there are 16 tracks and there is no grand valley. and the campaign is only 4 hours. this game takes the cake for the worst dealership (yes a dealership) in gt6 all you had to do is select the automaker then the car and thats it but no this game you have to select the continent one by one 2 second wait time then you have to scroll down when you are trying to select the manufactuer because the made it so gaped then 4 second wait time to see 2 dealerships, museum and videos that have to connect from YT and the scapes scene I DONT CARE JUST TAKE ME TO THE DEALERSHIP. and when you click on the dealership you have to look at a scenery of the car while its moving like cant you just take me to the car and add a button to see the car in action instead like gt5 and gt6. and it has brands that arent even brands or car makers. like Lewis Hamilton thats a driver, and TAG Heuer a watchmaker. its like their trying to make it bad and you cant even go in the dealership still to this day mainly because they have videos that have to connect to Youtube which is Lazy, Dumb, and A waste of storage. the only good part about the online is the manufacturer series where you have to sign a contract with a automaker which is pretty interesting and realistic. there is a mileage exchange where you buy garbage with your second currency Mileage points yes there is a second currency for some reason all you can by is secret cars, wheels the only thing that you can customize from your car, paint for the livery editor, Helmets that look nearly the same and worst of all Poses, and DECALS. you cant even upgrade your car the livery editor has a suprising amount of detail although i with the can make it where you dont have to select a part like in Real Racing 3 but whats the point when you game is garbage and plus the game doesnt have community liveries unlike forza so good luck if you suck at making liveries like me. the handling is playable but your car feels like its riding on ice its bad when you get to the drift mode its better in racecars where they are supposed to have grip i dont mind arcade style handling but this game does it bad maybe because you character holds the wheel like their on a family trip in gt6 you character holds it like a normal person holding the wheel on the grip like a fist. and dont tell me that their going to put more content cars and tracks i dont care i shouldve been in the game since day one. and i hate how people are giving this game i high score and gaming trend went as far to call it the best game i have ever played HAVE YOU SEEN THE DEALERSHIP. 21 on eurogamers best game list and calls it the most enjoyable GT game since Gt3 HOW CAN YOU TELL ME HOW WHEN THERE IS COUNTLESS GAME WITH MORE CONTENT. the graphics are stunning not as good as driveclub but tbh GT6's trailers looked better to me. worst part is that there is no dynamic time or weather effects not a problem but it just feels lazy because gt5 and 6 had that and they were harder to make and this was "easier" to make. and plus they knew that they f***ed up because they made a dlc where they add a proper Campaign mode which is also boring maybe because i hate this game already. and adding older cars and iconic ones to and more. also tracks. like seriously who thought that partnering up with the FIA was a good idea they had to be on some class A drug. and plus they had to be under the influence of drugs because there is no was a sober person couldve looked at this and thought that it was worth releasing with the GT license and charging full price $60 FOR THIS PIECE OF SH*T that doesnt stop them from releasing a Limited edition and collectors edition. it feels more like a tech demo that a real game. and im sad for giving this game a 0 but i have to because the team at polyhony dont listen to people like gt6 was hated for its focus on online you would think that they would listen but no gave us the middle finger and just made the whole game online only. its like they forgot on how to make GT games Kaz thinks that people are more intrested on online and dont care about the cars and tracks but after this games release i hope they give us a proper GT game with all of the cars, tracks, more focus on offline, and a better soundtrack, simple, colorful menu like GT6, and they old handling from gt6 but easier to turn. yes the menu sucks they use music with lyrics which is not a problem but it doesnt fit in a gt game and opening tabs. and the race music plays the same song Expand

But why is there no real single player content? Only driving school "tutorial" missions is a bad joke. And why only 13 tracks and only 50 cars (with variations 160 cars)? GT Sport offers a fresh new exciting challenge for me, to race against real players and see how I perform. Never raced online before in previous GTs and FMs. It's tough, I've only won one online race out of about 30 played so far, but that win was more rewarding and satisfying than winning any "campaign" race against AI.
Yes it not got hundreds of cars and a ton of tracks but what is has is enough IMO.
The gameplay is great, the races are exciting and it looks stunning.
Handling model and physics are great, even when playing with a controller.
The driving school and mission challenges are also fun and are quite extensive, you could spend many hours completing them all. To say that GT Sport lacks content is unfair when the content is does have is so well done.
So if you fancy something different than the gameplay loop of previous GT and FM games then GT Sport might be worth picking up.

My brother now is focusing on Forza on the 360 while i am playing GT's and Driveclub on the PS4/PS3. i decided to finally play with my brother because of the NEW GT just because he wasnt interested in the GT6. now back to the review.

This is an Online only racing game which you can not save offline but you can play offline, but you are limited to Arcade and the Default selection of cars, you can not level up, or unlock/buy new cars. how ever this isnt a problem when during the development they have said Numerous of times its going to be focusing on Esports and online, which you can tell. A plus for this is that there is no micro-transactions so you are on an even playing field because of it being Online focused.

Arcade mode is the main offline mode, with quick races, Time trials (to practice), Drift trials, Custom races which is what you use to set up your own races and 2P split-screen which the screen is split into 2 small rectangles on opposite corners with your car info underneath/above of each screen in a black box. you can only race against each other which is annoying but eh. (i dont own VR so the vr modes i cant use). The Campaign mode is split into 3 segments, Driving school which is just like the old games to help you with certain aspects, with the Mission Challenges are for getting certain times on a small temp track or getting to the front of a pack on a segment of a track, while Circuit Experiences lets you do time trials on the various sections of each track till you do a full lap with a certain time. this is fine for a online only game. Online is split into Sport and Lobby, Sport lets you compete seriously in daily races which change each 10-20 minutes and the championships which are FIA races which are locked till next month. these races have penalties that impact your rankings on who you race with. with Lobbies you create an event, and you can qualify for a pole position, race afterwards or just drive showing off your car. these are fun but if the Host leaves the lobby closes (if they choose to make the Host not change automatically when they leave)

Scapes. The Photomode that places every car you own into a 4K backdrop photo with dynamic lighting is AMAZING, the features are in depth and better than you would need. there is over 1000 Scapes with various times of day or scapes in different spots of the one place... sadly there is no Australia. The Livery Editor is great and more in-depth than you think, it works well and is easy to use, it even lets you upload real decal that you create in Illustrator (limited to 15KB). the amount of Liveries that have been created so far is amazing, and the anime Liveries look spot on. this also lets you change colours for your suit and helmet. The Mileage Exchange lets you different paint effects or wheels which you use Mileage points (unlocked from various races and achievements) the second currency other than Credits. Underneath this is Discovery which lets you search for all the uploaded scapes, liveries, decals, outfits and photos that people have created, you can comment on them, like them, follow the creator or even add it to your online library which you can apply the liveries onto your cars, or use the decals. Now to the Graphics, tracks, cars and sounds. i just Hit Level 20 which unlocks the Nurgburgring Nordshcliffe and i have to say It Looks Beautiful at Sunset with the Haze, to fully appreciate the games looks go to this track. each of the tracks look great (some better than others) and are amazingly detailed from the asphalt to the grass next door. half the trees are 2D but when you are racing you wont notice it so its a pass. with the Cars there is just over 150 of them and each one looks 1:1 accurate from the colours to the minor details like the lights, even this time each car has a premium interior because everything in this game is 1000% new, nothing reused from previous titles and it shows. Now to the important part, the sounds, these are really good, from the slight crackle to the whine of the engine in the cockpit, that is not all though, each car has background noises, and when you hit bumps you can hear the car shake and rattle, i havent heard many games that do this in great detail like in GTS. GTS Is a brilliant racer

This game is exactly what I have been waiting for years.
With its brilliant match making system that casual gamer can compete with each other GT Sport is by far the best racing game ever in terms of possibility of accommodating both beginner and skilled gamer.
But this game is solely focused on motor sport and will give motor sport fans great pleasure. For those who want to enjoy

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There's a lot that Polyphony missed the Mark with on this game. Completely eschewing performancr customization of any kind which has been a staple since the 1st game is unforgivable. Does a allows and enhamces that experience. Any tuning options that are in the game are a far cry from GT 6 and I was very disappointed. You can't put turbos or anything on cars anymore. Hell the Gran Turismo series actually taught me quite a bit about tuning nd various car companies. Making a racing game that is now dummied down with pretty graphics will swear me off from buying anymore Gran Turismo games in the future if they do this crap again. Get back to your roots! Or enhance the car customization past making stupid ass decals. Expand

There are plenty of single player challenges as usual, perhaps not as much as old GT games but the future is online racing so don't understand the complaints here. As a bonus for the creative out there (me included) a photo mode and livery creation mode have been included. They are addictive, fun, educational and a relaxing break from brutal racing sessions. Overall, think its a 100% must for any racers out there, especially ones who are massively disappointed by PC2! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

I'm seriously annoyed at this game. Could have been so good, cars handle amazingly! The tracks are so boring and hardly any of them! Waited so long for this to come out and now I'm already selling on to not lose my money!
This should have not been full price just glad I brought on disk!

When I first got my PS3 many years ago, my first game was Gran Turismo. I adored the game, I loved to play online and show off my fancy juked out cars and have drag races with people on the Top Gear track. When it finally came around with a final release date, I preordered and started the instant I got it. I was disappointed. With the intro film, it's jaw-dropping with how beautiful the game looks and I was excited to just see the graphics. That's the big thing here. The game does look beautiful, it really blends the lines of real life and virtual. But that quickly goes away with how bare-bones the game actually is. Their carpool is minimal and just disappointing. The tracks are hidden between unlocking which just takes grinding to earn them. The game emphasizes on the idea of PvP and motorsport however that is ruined by servers which seemed to crash quite often. Nothing much to do offline. And that's the biggest problem. You need to be online to save. You need to be online and connected to do 95% of the game. That's ridiculous to me, and I feel as though it is for a lot of people. When the servers for Gran Turismo are done, this game is worthless, it loses it's value and just becomes a blank disc at that rate. To say the least, I was highly disappointed by this release. I can understand if it's for those who are into motorsport and realistic driving, but for those who wanted a racing game that looked great - no, sorry. Huge disappointment. Expand

GT Sport boasts an excellent driving model and superb car models, but primarily it’s a paramount step towards blurring the line between electronic entertainment and sport, and on a global scale. I just hope Polyphony continues working on the game until it reaches its full potential. [13/2017, p.42]

Standard online races built on proven-by-the-years core of the Gran Turismo series. However, it suffers from an acute lack of content. In addition, if you play solo you have to avoid Sport. [Issue#280]
