Jun 19, 2019Golem Gates is a clever mashup of real-time strategy and card game gameplay. Creating troops from the glyphs you draw and Ash you build up is a nice twist. Difficult situations and some potential crashes put a damper on the fun and may cause you to look elsewhere.

Jun 6, 2019It’s a little rough around the edges, but Golem Gates’ fantastic audio design and the fun deck building is enough to carry it through.

Jun 19, 2019With 15 story missions, a batch of time trials and a few online modes, Golem Gates has a lot to offer. Unfortunately, the online lobbies were about as lively as a can of air. If you’re a beginner to RTS or CCGs, Golem Gates might be worth a shot; however, those more experienced players to the genre may be annoyed by the lack of depth.

Jun 19, 2019Golem Gates is an RTS that tries to take a new approach with its card game deck-building mechanics, but they don’t go far enough in differentiating the game from all its similar rivals.
-
Jul 8, 2019Unfortunately, it falls on a fundamental aspect such as balancing, which destroys any strategic desire at the root, favoring a brutal approach with little tactical sense.

Jun 18, 2019Although the controls aren't exactly ideal, Golem Gates is a thoughtfully crafted title that blends RTS gameplay with some solid deck building. Forging new Glyphs, reorganising a deck to make it more optimal, or simply experimenting with deck types fit so naturally in the RTS genre that it's at times shocking how well realized all the core concepts are. Unfortunately, the title is also plagued by terrible performance issues that didn't seem to be present in its initial PC release back in 2018. Load times are often long, lag is a problem, and this is prone to downright crashing should players spend too much time customising their deck... in a title all about deck building! This is a legitimately good RTS. Just not on PS4 for now.
