    Giving Kratos a son was a masterful decision considering the emotional depth felt within each character and the entire story as a whole. Incredible graphics and combat run impressively on the PS4, boss fights aren't numerous yet great regardless, but the areas and exploration are truly what shine through for me. The perfect way to reboot a series that had run its course.

    There's no word to wat this gane meets to me. Instead of some people don't like the reboot for not been a Hack and Dlash. This the more complex story game of Norse mythology. You will enjoy what the creatures the lore the combat and God's are very indisputable to the crisis that are previous to Ragnarok. 100% recomend

    The story is incredibly well written, the combat system is perfect, you can both learn combos and just smash the same button. I reccomend playing it in Normal difficulty, it offers a decent challenge for the average player. The dub is amazing, it is graphically outstanding (on both ps5 and ps4) and Kratos is the coolest character in videogame's history. The only downside of the game may beThe story is incredibly well written, the combat system is perfect, you can both learn combos and just smash the same button.     This is one of my favorite games in all of history, every once in a while I play it again and it continues being a beautiful experience, a story that can't be told in a better way, characters that I really love, and a soundtrack that I love. makes me feel real good, makes me feel like the god of war

    Que decir de God of War, podría empezar alagando su aspecto técnico o que bien le ha sentado el reinicio a la franquicia pero creo que a esta altura todo quien haya investigado unos minutos lo tendrá mas que claro. Habiendo jugado a este titulo de lanzamiento en ps4 y luego en su versión de PC solo les puedo decir que si no jugaron a este titulo no se a que esperan.

    There is no doubt that it deserved the GOTY. The story is the most incredible when at the beggining Kratos doesn't deal with his son but along the plot there is an important turn which Kratos is able to change their feelings (it's very emotional). Another point to remark is the music. Without the band it wouldn't be God of War.

    Never quite understood the high praise for this. It's great but also pretty boring at parts. Some of the puzzle sections are so mind numbing and unwarranted. Ragnarok does everything better, from combat, to graphics, to music, to characters, to story, to environments, to content.

    I really enjoyed this game. It looked great and the combat was great. Loads to do. Very punishing killing the Valkyries and getting a platinum but a beautiful game. The trials drove me mental and the ravens,,,, those bloody ravens. But worth it in the end. I am hoping the next one unlocks the other realms? Loved it.

    When I first saw the game I had doubt the being a action adventure game not being able to jump would ruin it. But when I played the game they cleverly made level design that kind of makes you feel you don't need to jump, but as a player of previous games, I always wanted to jump whenever I wanted, wherever I wanted, and this is not possible since most of the stuff is contextual.

    Even with that complain the combat is really exhilarating and very fun. What makes you "kind of " don't feel the necessity of jumping is the change of camera, which is a nice chance since you can see all the detail SM putted in the environments and that was not possible in previous games of the franchise.

    Also the story is really amazing with great performance of the actors. The pacing is also great, you can do side-quests if you want to or just blaze your way through the main story. It depends on what you want.

    If you could jump and go wherever you wanted as you wanted this would be a 10/10 for me, because it would also increase the combat possibilities of the game. I really cant avoid the feeling that in every action game the main character MUST be able to jump.    … Expand

    On Ps4 it behaves really well, never had a problem or a bug, very stable frame rate, breathtaking views and spectacular animations.

    amazing soundtrack and general sound perfectly performed.

The overall story is predictable (except when it presents new pointless twists to prevent the player from reaching the main objective too fast in the game). The enemies are the same throughout the game, with some new skin to provide "variety". The gameplay is a mix of uninspired combat and fetch quests and those stupid puzzles (that aThe combat is repetitive. The puzzles are stupid. The overall story is predictable (except when it presents new pointless twists to prevent the player from reaching the main objective too fast in the game). The enemies are the same throughout the game, with some new skin to provide "variety". The gameplay is a mix of uninspired combat and fetch quests and those stupid puzzles (that a monkey could solve) as well as some climbing, in case you didn't grow tired of that in the Uncharted series.     I was never into the God of War franchise, but I like this reboot of the series. I think it's a great foundation for future exploration of this world. My favorite thing about the game was the relationship between Kratos and his son. They both seemed like real characters. I also like the themes presented and all the lore poured into the game. I wouldn't say its the best action game ever, but I can see why its highly regarded. The puzzles were overall pretty good and I was surprised how challenging they were. The only irritating thing about the puzzles were sometimes you had to spend a lot of time looking for things. I like the open world design of the game, but I wish there was more incentive to explore the world. The different loot you get didn't feel that special to me and also the side quests just seemed like busy work. That said, I really enjoyed exploring the world and doing the non story part of the game. Another thing that felt was missing was the lack of other characters in the game besides spirits, valkryies, etc. The world felt a bit empty. Hopefully, they populate the future games with more characters. Perhaps, they were just trying to get the structure up with this game. The production values are probably the best part of this game. The graphics and atmosphere are phenomenal. And its hard to stop playing because of how good it looks even if I didn't enjoy the fighting gameplay that much.     I'm new to the franchise... but, this ain't a favorite. nice story, fun combat... for the most part, a few nice armor sets, fun characters... minus Kratos, good humor, deep emotions... but nowhere near a masterpiece. so many situational strategic runic attacks which are rendered useless by the fact that you can't switch them mid-fight. traps are so half-assedly done that they kill youI'm new to the franchise... but, this ain't a favorite. nice story, fun combat... for the most part, a few nice armor sets, fun characters... minus Kratos, good humor, deep emotions... but nowhere near a masterpiece. so many situational strategic runic attacks which are rendered useless by the fact that you can't switch them mid-fight. traps are so half-assedly done that they kill you when they shouldn't--like the crushing walls that kill you if you're just touching them like the one in Ivaldi's workshop where the chest is but has no opposing wall. only a few nice sets out of the bunch with NG+ dwindling that already small number down to 2 with one being only a reskin of The Travel's set (Falling Ash) Tyr's was at lest left alone... could've been improved but I lack any faith in your team's ability to do so . the few annoying puzzles on a few chests-challenge is fine but some are just annoying. the multiple targeting system an annoying joke--most games let you select multiple targets to hit. the inability to switch perks around was also annoying as some gear that may look good.... but, had lousy perks.( Aris's and Zeus's, specifically). irrelevant healing bonuses to some of the gear to be too slow to be viable. the Valkyrie Queen felt like a feminist designed the fight mechcanics. though, it was nice to be able to switch all enhancement around at once--most convenient. I'm aware that there's 3 more passed games but to me, this felt like their first attempt at making a game I'm not known for leaving reviews unless the game is bad... though, this is the better game on a short list.     I tried playing this was back on the PS4 but wasn't partiarly invested. So it was refreshing playing that game again in 2020 on the PS5 with a locked 60fps. This did make the experience much more enjoyable.

    It's a great game, but defintely has some gameplay loops that need fixing. One particar enemy would spam attacks in a way where it wasn't challenging or partically balanced. More combo variety and more fluent combat animation would have also been nice. *also a better lock on camera* Overwise this is a really exellent video game that I am geninuely NOW excited to see what cames next within the francishe.    … Expand

    I can see why people like it and how would score it a 7, but it isn't revolutionary or even above average. I don't care for the characters, it isn't as fun to explore as Uncharted, the combat is nowhere near as good as devil may cry 5, I just don't get it.     Definitely game of the year for 2018. Hell it's the best game to be released on PS4.
    Not even a huge fan of the GOW series but the damn last 2-3 hours of the game are spectacular.
    Games usually don't make me upset but that damn ending was too cute and saddening that i bawled like a baby.
    GAME OF THE PS4 SO FAR.

    If i had some advice for new players, do not disable the music!     This was one of the absolute best games I have ever played. Just an absolute pleasure to play from start to finish. None of the pay to win loot boxes, no annoying multiplayer. Absolute focus on an amazing story coupled with addicting combat. Can't speak highly enough of God of War.

    some enemy you fight fly or jump and the camera stay grounded looking under them and making the locking mechanism pointless.

    +The color is used to enhance the world. Some scenes feel taken out of a Marvel movie.
    +In the midgame the fighting feels powerful (the start was awful though, we'll talk more about it later).
    +The Stranger character is well-designed and with an interesting and logical story.
    +The game works really smart with huge characters (especially the dead giant is cool).
    +When you finally get Blades of Chaos back - it's **** amazing.
    +Even generic foes have interesting attack patterns and I needed to adopt to each new battle.
    +At some points "Be better" felt like a post-modernist joke and I was laughing hard.
    +Atreus is a real help in the fights.

    -The world feels empty. With no humans in it I don't care about the story at all.
    -Kratos is an awful father. And it was painful to watch how writers failed to deliver an interesting father/son dynamic.
    -In general, the serious and emotional tone of the game didn't work well together with a simple story and characters.
    -Like first 6 hours of the game are slow and boring adaption to fighting system. I've almost dropped the game then. An then in the ending Kratos was overpowered and I felt "Press X to win". Like RPG system didn't work well for me.
    -In general, I hated RPG elements. I was spending so much time in different menus trying to choose between endless stats which by the end of the game I didn't understand anyway.
    -The game doesn't offer much of the new. It's a mix of Uncharted, Tomb Raider and Shadow of Mordor. I've seen all this gaming mechanics before. Yeah, they've implemented well. But nothing fresh here. I always felt that I was playing a game instead of immersing in it.    … Expand

    i can see why people are posing it as top 1 game ever, but for me it's not quite.
    the game is absolutely stunning, visually, it's really incredible. the old battle system was revised but it's actually all the same (thats not a bad thing) but the world(s) even tho they seem to be open and big and full of variety and freedom, is actually a lot limited and predictable. and for such a big game of such a big company, the check point and save game aspects are really, really a turn off.
    In a game where you'll probably die a (whole) lot, these 2, 3 seconds further away from the battle start can be really stressful.
    and the fact that Atreus only shoot that **** arrow when I press the action buttom really pisses me off. **** I already have to dodge 300 spells and block 500 yellow hits and dodge other 600 red hits, CAN YU JUST **** SHOOT THAT ARROw wITHOUT ME HAVING TO ASK YOU TOO???? jesus... and the grab move is really boring and repetitive most of the times, not to mention that they can be hard to hit, because of you having to hold the action buttom instead of just pressing it
    but it's ok, it's all worth, really. the storytelliing is magnificent. the different combos, the many gear pieces, the runes, anchantments, the dwarf brothers are too hilarious, and may i mention once more: the visual of the game is just plain incredible. cant even count how many screenshots i took or how many times i just stand still in a corner just to look at the screen for a while.

    Decent enough game but well overrated. I kept waiting for the moment it suddenly becomes this game that everyone's hyping up, but sadly it just remained run of the mill. Every one I know who's played it says the same thing. Prefer the original trilogy.

    A really great game to experience and a really a great upgrade from the God of war games from PS2 and PS3 era. Combat is really good and satisfying every time your axe lands its just feels awesome and sound awesome too. My only problem is too few bosses and you get to fight the same boss a lot.

    This is the best PS4 game. I played the whole saga on PS2, PSP and PS3 and this game can be better than all of that games. This is a Masterpiece. The story, the gameplay, graphics, the sound and Mimir.

    One of the easiest 10/10 scores I’ll likely ever give. This game is a masterpiece in design. I literally bought a PS4 pro for the sole purpose of being able to play it myself after hearing and seeing such good things. Worth every penny. If for some reason you haven’t played this yet, you owe it to yourself to do so. World class.

    Cory Barlog and his team achieved what many thought impossible – despite having changed almost everything Santa Monica managed to preserve that elusive spark that makes God of War game feel like a God of War game. They created one of the defining titles of the current generation and a technical marvel whose stunning beauty in motion words cannot describe. And there’s one more thing. Barlog’s touching reaction to his masterpiece’s scores shows that even in the world of huge budgets, micropayments, loot boxes and sales forecasts there still is a place for artists who pour their hearts into their work.
