Ghost Trick’s cohesion is why it is so special. The gameplay connects cleanly into its story, which ties together neatly and wraps up so well with an unforgettable, heartstring-pulling twist. I vividly recall beating the game and tearing up while in a parking lot a decade ago, and it’s nice to re-experience these emotions on the big screen. This is a lovely port of a timeless classic that deserves to be played by all, so change your own fate by picking it up since it’s a special game from start to finish.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is, simply put, a masterpiece. If you're at all interested in adventure games, this one is a must-play.

Ghost Trick is a game where every fantastic detail comes together to make something even greater than the sum of its parts — and those parts are plenty great on their own. This is an experience worth checking out for just about anyone, and with a modest price tag and a free demo, there’s absolutely no excuse to pass.

First-class puzzling that feels like little else, beautifully presented, wonderfully planned, and with a gripping story to boot. Don’t let this case grow cold. [Issue#30, p.92]

As with most ports, Ghost Trick is mainly going to appeal to those that hold it in esteem since its first iteration. For them, this is the perfect port. For the uninitiated, however, there’s no reason not to dive into the unknown if one enjoys their kooky, off-the-wall puzzle-adventures. With added spirit(s).

It’s a really unique game that I think plays best in this release, particularly because of how good it looks. If puzzle games with good stories and colorful art styles sound interesting, then this is probably a game you should pick up.
  7. Ghost Trick’s surprisingly enticing story gradually pulls you in, and its unique approach to puzzle solving remains fresh throughout the roughly 10-hour run time. The script is brilliant, and the updated visuals and soundtrack are equally impressive. Even after 13 years and with minimal changes, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is one of the smartest, most enjoyable narrative puzzlers around.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a must-play mystery adventure that sticks the landing with its gameplay design, compelling mysteries, and character writing. The soundtrack is also quite catchy. If you’re someone who missed out on the game’s original DS release, then you owe it to yourself to give this remaster a shot, especially if you’re an Ace Attorney fan. I’m thrilled Capcom decided to give this title another chance, so here’s hoping it excels this time around.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was a fantastic DS remaster candidate for several reasons, including its acclaim and low reliance on the top DS screen. It stands to reason that a modern console and PC refresh would be met with excitement from both fans of the original and those who never got to play it the first time around, but to say that expectations were exceeded would be an understatement. If you’re even remotely curious about the title or want to see how 3/DS remasters should be done, it’s really no mystery that you should pick up Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.

When all is said and done, the HD remaster of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an ideal way to check out this fantastic title. Though it might still suffer from some awkward puzzle logic, those that give it a chance will find a game bursting with creativity and originality they won't soon forget.

Ghost Trick: The Phantom Detective from Capcom is a challenging and creative puzzle game that casts the same logic-driven shadow as its gaming cousins in the Ace Attorney series. It offsets its incredibly large amount of difficulty with a strong story that has sprinkles of humor in it, while still maintaining its murder mystery mission to deliver an overall entertaining experience.

The murder mystery puzzler makes the jump to PlayStation as Capcom successfully revives Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. Captivating characters, an engrossing mystery, and inventive puzzles ensure Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective's appeal is alive and well in 2023.

If you have never played it before, this new version of Ghost Trick: Detective Ghost is the perfect opportunity to discover a must-have from the catalog of Capcom and Shu Takumi (Ace Attorney). Satisfying gameplay, a gallery of eccentric characters, comical situations and a well-stocked plot make this detective adventure a treat during its ten hours of play. If you're looking for a game to take on vacation this summer, go for it.

For many, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a chance to experience a game (and franchise) that was tragically shortlived. The DS original has made an effortless transition to modern consoles, and the core experience is every bit as good as it was 12 years ago. Not all puzzles carry their weight, and the game doesn’t exactly stick the landing, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a mystery with the wry wit and subtle charms of Ghost Trick. If you’re a mystery buff, don’t miss this caper.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective reconfirms itself as a gripping detective story, characterised by unique ideas and mechanics and populated by razor-sharp situations that will keep your attention until the end credits. After that you are unlikely to replay it, not least because of its linear structure, but while it lasts it remains a highly recommended experience, today as in 2010.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an interactive tale that immerses us in a shadowy and humor-filled narrative right from the start. With its distinct style of creatively unraveling puzzles, it keeps us engaged from beginning to end. Retaining the game's original essence while enhancing its visual appeal was a commendable choice. This version serves as a deserving tribute to a truly original game that went unnoticed during its initial release.

A good mystery should hook you right from the beginning. Solving your own murder is a juicy hook, to say the least. Better still, there’s a fascinating narrative beyond that elevator pitch. The mechanics are unique and engaging, the graphics are slick, and the writing keeps you plugged in until the very end. While I wasn’t a perfect fit for the puzzle design, that’s alright. Players more interested in a tense experience will find a lot to love here. I still appreciated the mix of frustration and elation, even as it burrowed into my brain. If you’re looking for a unique, puzzling mystery, definitely give Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective a shot.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective isn't looking to overhaul what made the original version so memorable. It offers sleeker HD visuals and rearranged music while retaining the same great music, writing and characters. Some of the newer features feel superfluous, but the game's core is still strong.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a high-definition re-release of a cult game from the Nintendo DS era, which in this high-definition version has one more chance to be appreciated by fans of the mystery stories and puzzles typical of the works written and directed by Shu Takumi. This ambitious game is highly recommended for Ace Attorney fans and anyone who wants to get involved with the rich cast of eccentric characters that populate its dark mysteries.

For fans of puzzle games and visual novels, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a bit of a treat. It’s a stylish and humorous affair that’s a pleasure to look at and has a fun soundtrack. Only the odd frustration is likely to sully your impression of it, as having to watch the same scenes play out multiple times until you strike it gold with the solution can get a bit tiresome. But overall, these moments are far outweighed by the many bouts of joy you feel as you overcome challenges and unfold the game’s engaging tale.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective has long deserved a second chance at life, and in this form, it’s easily at its most definitive. Making new friends while saving their lives as a friendly ghost never gets old and only makes you feel deeper and deeper in love with everything the game has to offer as you progress. Embrace death, make friends with dogs, and delight in a brand of chaos you won’t find anywhere else in the medium.

After more than 10 years, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective resurrects on relevant platforms. Fortunately, it's always been a great game, with some intriguing puzzles, a unique premise, and a mystery that builds and builds right to the very end. Fans of point-n'-click adventures, visual novels, or both should absolutely give it a look, and if you've played it before, this is the definitive version. It's a cult hit that's been granted a second chance at life, and deservedly so.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an intelligent puzzle game that brings considerable improvements compared to the Nintendo DS version, especially in the visuals. Unfortunately, Capcom fell short in providing additional content. With unappealing modes and narrative linearity, Ghost Trick offers fans only a few reasons to revisit or stay engaged.

Ghost Trick is both another brilliant little game from another era and another lazy remaster that doesn't add anything really new to it. It is still recommended to anyone who never played the original, yet it's a bit on the pricey and the short side.

This game puts a spin on the adventure genre and brings it out of the shadows. It's a clever game with unique puzzles and a noir story that unfortunately retains some issues from the original version. In some sections it has new features, but they were too limited.

This new version does not bring many changes, beyond adapting the controls to the new platforms as well as the resolution of its graphics, but it is enough to show why it was a mistake to ignore it at the time. [Recommended]

Updated visuals and an orchestrated soundtrack (with an option to switch to the original), An art gallery that unlocks as you progress through the game, and a good story with likeable characters. It is well worth it!
Only cons I would say are having no physical release outside of Japan, and not having an optional 16:9 mode like the Onimusha remaster. But I think it was kept in 4:3 only for narrative reasons. Also the framerate is inconsistant with no way to change it on the Switch version.

Fantastic aesthetic which looks exceptionally good in HD. Animations look even smoother thanks to the higher frame rate. Rearranged soundtrack is sharp while maintaining the spirit of the classic. Strong narrative with well-written characters. Possession and puzzle mechanics still feel very solid, even after all these years.

    Bad-
Some puzzles can still be frustrating in their trial-and-error, especially when you need to rewind to previous save points (which disrupts the otherwise great pacing). Not much replay value after finishing the story. Additional features like Challenges and Ghost Puzzles don't add much.

    Thoughts-
Even with its nags and quirks, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a great experience. The narrative is genuinely enthralling, deftly mixing tension and levity, and the characters are a blast. The gameplay is intriguing, with some fun mechanics, even if the experimentation factor is limited. The revamped visuals and rearranged soundtrack help bring it alive, adding even more to an already charming experience.

It’s still the same game, and I can’t help but want a sequel that further builds on these mechanics and explores them in brand-new ways (perhaps on a larger scale). However, for now, Ghost Trick is worth checking out, whether you’re a new player or a fan of the original.

This is so an amazing game. It's so sad. It has been stuck on the DS for so long, but I'm so happy we can now play it on our new systems.

The story is one Hill of a rush you just go through so many emotions and fist and turns into story but the characters are so likeable that you are just sitting at the edge of your seat.

I love the art style so much. It's so stylish, and it's so good puting characters on show just by looking at them.

The puzzles are really fun and good and the way you have to think about time and place is the best part of it and just the event of ways to get the s*** done.

One of the best puzzle games with one of the most lovable set of characters, it is truly amazing, please play it.
