This is the first FF I finished. To be fair I am not so much keen on the series (just not too much of my type) but this one was just amazing. The characters, story, gameplay, combat system and soundtrack were great. I loved this game a lot and I highly recommend it.

I have a mixed feeling in regards with the story the side quests didn’t give me enough reasons to like them they are more like a padding to the game but that’s understandable though the main plot stayed faithful to the original up until the final chapter. And if it wasn’t for that Convoluted ending which reminds me of Nomura KH3 esque It could’ve been a perfect 10/10 nonetheless i will be looking forward to part 2 and this time in regards with the story people who played the OG already know the end and likely it will stay the same but the process of going there remains a mystery will It play out like the OG or not? Either way i will still be looking forward to the next part and FFVIIR Part 1 is a rather game that you must have. Expand

I'm a big fan of the original Final Fantasy 7 and I think that does elevate a lot of the reviews somewhat. The original characters are captured incredibly ~ better than even Advent Children did. The original characters are captured incredibly ~ better than even Advent Children did. The story is creatively fleshed out to a point where we are much more emotionally attached to the events in Midgar. However, if this wasn't FF7, it would be a considered a weak simplistic RPG. There isn't much more to character progression outside of levelling up your character and materia, and unlocking weapon abilities / stats using SP. They could have taken the liberty to expand the mechanics so much more, as they had done with the story. A seriously missed opportunity. And lastly, the hard mode. It's more of a chapter select / new game plus sort of thing. However, it falls very short and quite forced. You aren't able to use items and your MP does not regenerate at benches. This is fine, but it feels more like a gimmicky game mode more than a regular hard mode, as if they didn't know how else to make the game more difficult. It's a shame, since you spend the whole game hording items only to not be able to use them once you attempt to conquer hard mode. It would have better to have a separate hard mode playthrough where you start from scratch without your levels and materia, but it still allows you to use items and regen MP normally, but with the enemies stronger and with new abilities (as it is now). I do have faith that the team will make some improvements for the next game, as they'll be more focused on the game design itself, other than the fact that "it's an FF7 remake" and riding the nostalgia train.
I did still enjoy this game, and I recommend it to anybody who loves FF7 or Final Fantasy in general. I would not recommend it to those unfamiliar with the original, because of the above points. I still give this game a high score ~ the way they captured the characters and the world of Midgar is just that good, that it really does make one forget about it's gameplay issues.

First of all, I didn't play the original game and I only played FF15 (which I really liked) so we can say I'm not a FF veteran. Very good game,i really enjoyed the plot and gameplay in my opinion there magnificient! The Soundtrack is cool rearrangement of original ff7 ost,and ive gotta admit very detalied combat system and skills system.
But theres 2 small conses,in my personal opinion:
-Side Quests are boring and monotonous, but some of te quests are really cool.
-And for me there few boring bossfights like fight with Hell House,Arsenal and Scorpion Sentinel for me this fights are monotonous and disgustingly long. But fights with Reno,Rude,Rufus,Sephiroth,Airbuster, these fights are Perfect.

While I do feel some of the side quests feel more like fetch quests, and it does have a few annoying gameplay sections. It's still a great remake non the less. It's one of the best looking games I've seen on PS4, and the combat is super fun. It truly had me hooked for hours, and I truly can't wait for what comes next.

The initial Midgar section of Final Fantasy 7 is only 1/16th of the actual game. Was it a good idea to stretch that into a full game? I don't think so, but what we have is a very fun and nostalgic thrill ride full of great writing, characters, amazing action, and beautiful graphics. Hardcore original fans may think the changes have impacted the central narrative too much. I'm here to declare, staunchly, they haven't. The core story remains intact, narrative additions aside. This is a retelling of the original game, but it is very (very) faithful to the first one's ethos. Expand

I got this game on ps plus and was pretty surprised by what i played. However, the game does a good job explaining what is going on (most of the time). As soon as the whispers startedI got this game on ps plus and was pretty surprised by what i played. However, the game does a good job explaining what is going on (most of the time). As soon as the whispers started to appear i was expecting an explanation but i didn't have one until the very ending. The story is very good, the characters are AMAZING and i love seeing them together. I like the character development of Cloud, he starts to care about things after a certain point in the game, and i like the contrast of his personality opposed to Jhessy, Aerith, Biggs, Wedge etc. I feel like their personalities influenced Cloud's throughout the game, specially Aerith's.
The combat is the best combat system that i remember. It is very fun and strategic. Sometimes, i felt like i was playing an anime fight due to how the characters act and speak during these fights. The combat is a mix of turn based with hack and slash. You press square and triangle to slash enemies and when pressing x, the time slows down and a menu with options such as magic and items appears. And it's cool bcause they keep talking in their heads even after the time freezes which gives the battle this anime feeling. The combat is suuuper fun, seriously. Btw you can switch between characters during the battle, and trust me, you will need to.
The A.I is ok i guess, the characters do a good job defending, but not that great when attacking the enemies. So when you expect to switch characters to see if they have enough atb to use, you will often see that they don't have, bcause you get atb by attacking the enemies.
The map is beautiful, specially indoors, but when it comes to sector 5 it gets really weird. There are low quality textures everywhere in sector 5 slums, which is weird to see, coz your character is super high quality with tons of polygons (srsly, it looks like a cgi character) but when you come closer to a wall of sector 5, there is this big contrast of quality, its like you're playing on a ps2 stage. But as i said, that happens only in sector 5 as far as i remember.
The music... man the music is a 10/10. My favorite is the one that plays in sector 5 when you're exploring the map.
    NOW WHAT BOTHERED ME:
The sidequests are meh, like ok, but not great. I feel that what saves the side quests is the combat itself that is super fun. I'd say that the greatest side quest in this game is compared to the most mediocre in Yakuza 0, which to be fair, is the case of 90% of games nowadays.
Another thing that bothered me was the overly anime way that the characters act. Sometimes feels unnatural, specially the anime grunting. I am used to anime, and it's ok if characters do that in Persona 5 for instance which is an anime game, but when you put this in a game where characters have human facial expressions it gets weird, specially the theatrical way Tifa moves sometimes, it's kinda cringy and childish. But this is a final fantasy thing after all, so its probably ok for the og fans.

Aside from the anime thing and the lack of good side quests, everything else was good or phenomenal. The boss fights are I N S A N E, the main missions are hype and the bond that is built with the avalanche members is really something special. The cut scenes in this games feel like a reward, bcause they are so well made and the dialogues were made with so much attention and care. Indeed, i liked this game so much that i bought the original on steam and started playing it. I played the whole Midgar section of the original, and seriously, what a great job they did with this remake, bcause in the original, you don't get to know 20% of these characters and world lore (through the Midgar section) and that makes me even more hyped about the next games, cuz if they did all what they did only in Midgar, which tbh, is the my least favorite part of the og game so far, imagine what they are going to do when the game expands! I can't wait. I give it a 9, the game is incredible but there are things that bother me a little.

Square really took the time to serve us a quality remake with amazing detail and jaw dropping action. What makes this game so much more enjoyable is the new game mechanics implemented in this new version. They took a big risk on doing so but I think it pays off. I did platinum this game on hard mode and I loved every minute of it. It still has the same charm that made the original game so iconic. Although I know the ending is going to be divisive between the FF7 community, I appreciate what direction the writers are aiming for and it makes me excited to see what is in store for the next installments of FF7. Final Fantasy VII Remake is what I had dreamed of for the last 15 years. The original being my favourite game of all time, meant that my expectations going in were quite big while also being realistic due to Square Enix's recent disappointing releases.

The game visually is absolutely gorgeous, with probably the best looking character models for the main characters I've ever seen in a video game. The areas recreated in 3D have been done with a lot of love and faithfulness. I often had to stop to look at how beautiful the world was, not believing what I was seeing. Despite running on my PS4 Pro, I thought people could be excused if they thought this was a next gen game. There were however some visual issues in certain areas of the game through the form of texture bugs. Some textures really looked like it belonged in last gen and compared to a high quality character model, it really showed off. I hope that this can later be fixed with patches or with a PS5 release.

Being a fan of RPGs, this is the best combat system I've ever come across in any game. The perfect mixture of action and strategy was a blend that absolutely blew me away. The materia system is back which makes gameplay as customisable as in the original. Summons do work differently but now they fight alongisde me and I can issue them commands; great choice! The switching of characters is seemless and the ATB system encourages you to do so. This means that you are using all of your characters in a fight. What excites me is that this combat system is already excellent and yet there is still room for improvement. The aerial battle needs improvement. It does not happen often but when it does, it is a pain. The AI for characters could be better when you aren't using them and having given roles like healer, tank or DPS given to those AI controlled characters would make sure they act the way you desire. Having set Materia loadouts that you can swap to mid fight would also be helpful.
Like most Final Fantasy games the story is one of its best qualities. The story of the game is about 90-95% faithful and was quite an emotional ride of nostalgia for me. The added story content was also welcomed for me as I enjoyed exploring more of the world and its characters. The final part of the game deviates quite a bit from the original, a change that will determines which path the future games take. I know that many did not like the change, I am personally optimistic about them and I'm excited to play the next games not fully knowing what to expect plot-wise.

The voice-acting for all the characters were absolutely top-notch, something that is quite rare in JRPGs. This meant that the intended strong character development and connections were delivered in an exceptional manner. I have never been as emotionally connected to the characters of this world as I am after playing the remake. I found myself caring for many of the minor characters too.

The game's side quests could be better entrenched in the story but were still fun to do, especially the wall market ones. The many mini games, the colosseum, enemy assessing and battle simulator were all welcomed additions. Replaying the game on Hard mode deserves a chance after your first playthrough. It does not only makes the game harder but forces you to make the most of the battle system. The boss battles are considerably different with new moves to give you a deserving challenge.

I spent 130 hours on this game and I can clearly say that this was my favourite Platinum and now my overall favourite game on PS4 and of this generation. I am hoping for a next gen version and obviously can't wait for the next installments.

First of all this game is unfinished as story and if you didn't played original game you will get confuse about what going on about story and characters, game play is fine and game have new mechanics but sometimes it get really hard to tolerate in defending coming attacks, graphics are good too but side quests are so silly and musics are clumsy and boring.

The rhythm is handled perfectly, I never felt boring around the 50 hours that I spent completing story, battle missions, secondary missions, etc.

It's so funny and enjoyable that I felt the 50 hours were pretty short.

I only have one complain about this game, it's about performance in some specific moments and some textures that are not rendered properly. But trust me that will not affect your game experience.

Also, it's important to know, that this game, it's a remake but is not a remake at the same time. It's a remake because makes me feel the same way I felt playing the original. On the other hand, is a new adventure that preserves the legacy of the original but make some changes that invite us into a new unknown journey.

I can't wait to play ff7 part 2 and see how everything will continue. If you are a new player, I will recommend you to play the original game first, because you will not understand this game at all, seems like it's made for people who played the original first. This game is clearly a sequel.

Thanks, Square Enix, I'm enjoying this game as never before, I'm so excited about future. I will get platinum trophy that's for sure.

The first good FF game since PS2. Square Enix is finally - starting - to come back.

FFVIIR is a good game, enjoyable as hell, yet not great. The reason?
    It's inconsistent:
-Dialogues are mostly great, but often mediocre and anime-like. I hope the next time we Italians will have subtitles based off the English dub...
-Story pacing is mostly great, but often mediocre or forced due to padding.
-Main missions are mostly great, but sidequests are almost entirely mediocre and/or uninspired fetch-quests.
-Graphics are mostly great, but with tons of technical issues - way too many for a tripleA game.
-Characters' models are great, but NPCs are almost entirely stock-quality-level - and with a different art style.
-Characters' personalities are very much flashed out, yet filled with inconsistencies - like when Tifa is shocked about Cloud willing to kill an enemy... but it's a trait she immediately loses the next second.
-The music is stellar. Period. 10/10.
-The last portion of the game is suddenly KingdomHearts-like and makes heavy uses of meta-narrative. This is not a bad thing per se...
But in this case, it messes with everything FFVII has ever been. It really feels like you're playing a different game... and not in a good way, a choice that can very well ruin future installments. I'm not surprised that OG fans are pissed about this (Even if leaving 0/10 reviews is childish, please don't).

The only consistent aspects of this game are:
    - The soundtrack. Beautiful, beautiful soundtrack.
    - The battle system.
At first I was not sure about this but the more I explored it... the more I fell in love with it.
To the point where I almost earned the Platinum Trophy even if, as said, I think this is a game that barely misses being an 8/10.

    Worth the money.

    Brilliant remake of legendary game.

    + Great mortal system
    + Wonderful plot
    + Best characters
    + Interesting hard mode

    - Just a part of story
    - Low graphic setting
    - Sometimes story may have some filler moments. Even full chapters sometimes

The story is good so far - close to the original, except the ending, which is a bid off and feels tacked on. But still, I really enjoyed this game so far and hope the future remake parts will do the original justice!
I do NOT like the 'whispers' or the third-wall-breaking that happens with them sometimes, I think if they wanna make it clear to the player that there might be big changes in the future games, they could have done that better.

It's just more of that same nonsense where you close your eyes and press the attack button until its over. On the boss fights you're forced to use that awful domino style where you plan and store your moves and wait for a moment to fire them all, Then do it again until it's over. It's just horrid.

Combat aside, someone got high and decided that FF7 needed annoying MMO-style quest hubs filled with kill quests and fetch quests. My heart aches.

Their take on the materia and summons are also terrible. They better fix that mess before the next installment, but I know this is just wishful thinking.

Anything positive I might say about this game is completely dwarfed by these massive flaws. This game will certainly never replace the real FF7 (no matter how much we wanted it to).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was my first ever Final Fantasy game; I have since gone on to play FFX, FFX-2, FFXIV (ARR to SHB), FFVII, FFVI and BD. The character writing is exceptional, voice acting is astounding; the graphical quality is truly something to behold, and the soundtrack is an amazing adaptation - not replacement - of Uematsu's original masterworks; along with the amazing action-RPG combat, these are qualities in which FF7R-1 speaks for itself.
I agree with FF7R-1's development team's answer to the philosophical nightmare of "remaking" art: we cannot make the same old machine with new cogs; rather, we should aspire to make an all-new machine with the old cogs. FF7R-1 is a damn good new machine.
FF7R-1's largest failure, though, is it's side-quests, which - with the exception of one side-quest in Chapter 14 with a thrilling optional boss - all frankly suck. This is the area with by far the largest room for improvement.
Also, maybe they could have made it more clear this was not the full game (series), and just the first part of it?

I'm the type to choose warrior, and it sucks that when spec out toward just melee you still don't do a whole lot. Didn't have much problem beating it on normal, but it just feels silly that every enemy in the game takes quite a few hits to beat. Boss battles felt right though, the flying house with all its resistances was more annoying than challenging. I literally got bored and was dosing off during that fight. All in all, had fun and felt the purchase price was worth it. I do hope that the combat isn't so magic favored in the future games. First off the story. Yes, it's just the Midgar section of the original. And Yes, it's still a full fledged 40 hour-ish game. Which creates a lot of opportunities to enrich the experience for players and hold them back at the same time.
All the characters that we know and love have been fleshed out and brought to life, but I can't help but feel that the story telling suffers because we only see a snapshot of the overarching plot. The key moments from the original are beautifully told with some solid voice acting and visuals. But overall, there are so many references to the main plot of the original that it creates this mystery that comes across as weird and convoluted for anyone walking in with fresh eyes. Not to mention the amount of filler in between chapters that really disrupts the flow of the story as we move from section to section.

The visuals and sound are absolutely stunning of course. The music contains one of the best scores in a video game I have heard in years. Add those two elements to the new real time/turn based game-play, plus min-games, there is fun to be had. Not to mention the character progression along with the equipment management system is a breeze to use. So amongst the hit and miss structure of the journey itself, FF7 remake does provide an enjoyable experience through its exceptional presentation and game-play.

Look, this remake swings very very hard! And with that, it hits some major home runs, but misses a lot of big throws too. If you have never played FF7, please pick up the original. It is rough to look at these days, but it is a great adventure and story that will not disappoint. If you start with the remake, you would be forgiven for feeling a little lost.
For those FF7 lovers out there, you will be rewarded with a AAA experience that will hit you in the nostalgia nostrils. But even with the improved game-play, you might be left wanting even just a little after the journey is done.

The story twists allow for unpredictable storylines that I'm completely open to. = I'm really glad this is a story continuation based on the original game experience and not a simple 1:1 remaster. I hope our heroes and heroines can reshape/remake the future for the better - as the original ending was way too bleak and tragic for me. (Hopefully the ending can be shaped based on player decisions).

Part one of the FF7 remake already gave me one of the best gaming experiences I've had in my life. I love the soundtrack, the characters, their design and story interactions with each other, and also the new real-time group combat system.
The few texture issues should be gone with the PS5 upgrade. (I have yet to replay the game on that system).

Down-sides; I wish, there was an official costume option for the characters. ^^
There are 4 costumes for Aerith, Tifa and Cloud - but only cheat modules enable you to wear them outside of the indended scenes - PS4.
And I would also have liked an option to turn off the green filter during the slow-mo skill selection. (I prefer the original colors).

So far, I've replayed the game 4 times in 3 different languages, and I can't wait for the next installments. I simply want to spend more quality time with the characters I adore - and I thus also appreciate the decision to make this story bigger. And I also couldn't have wished for a better fight system. There's room for improvements (group dynamic / espers / air combat) - but it's nonetheless my fav among all rpgs. 10/10

Now I just end up hating square for selling out and hate myself for buying into another Final Fantasy. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Though not perfect, Final Fantasy 7 Remake delivers on remaking the jrpg icon and adding its own spice, however not all of these changes and additions are necessarily good. To start things off, lets discuss the Whispers, ghost-like entities and Arbiters of Fate that interrupt the story and only ever serve to disrupt, while I can appreciate the 'Fanon' explanation that they're representations of the fans, trying desperately to stop Square from making any changes and keep the game as close to the original as possible, the Whispers themselves are nothing short of nuisances, they show up randomly to slow down the game and remind you **** different". I can only hope Cloud and Co killing their boss at the end is a meta commentary saying "screw the fans, we're doing what we want" And we won't be seeing them again.

Moving on from that, the other changes this game makes are mostly all very nice, like mission you go on with Jessie, Biggs and Wedge, in this short section, you team up with aforementioned characters and venture to the Sector 7 plate to Jessies house so that you can get a Shinra keycard and infiltrate one of their bases, this section alone includes character development for Jessie, a pretty fun Bike sequence, a new character who I love named Roche, a pretty fun action scene where Biggs and Wedge both have their time to shine in combat, and development between Cloud and his Avalanche buddies, we also see that Avalanche is a far bigger organization that in the original, having multiple Sects, some of which are very well outfitted with military equipment, unlike Barrets group who've always been very ragtag.

Among the good however, there is always bad, and unfortunately, there is a scene which has gained my ire, not for its content, but its placement. Much like the original, after being thrown into the sewers by Corneo, you must pass the Train Graveyard, unlike the original however, it's far too long and tonally feels very out of place, given Tifas anxiety over Shinra dropping the sector 7 plate, which seems totally dropped in this section, and awkwardly picked back up immediately after, it feels odd and out of place.

To roll things back a little to when I mentioned Corneo, the Wall Market scene is pure bliss, I loved every second of this part, from Aeriths amazing dialogue, where she requests "permission to kill" when Corneo's men are speaking about her looks, to the Coliseum where you fight The Monster House in a boss fight, and finally to the dance minigame which had me smiling from ear to ear the entire time. I'm certain they knew how much everybody loved the scene where Cloud is forced to put on a dress and they went ham on it to make it an absolute spectacle, and they succeeded.

On to the characters, they're amazing, new and old. returning favourites like Barret, Tifa and Aerith are filled with love and care, I already loved these characters, but I'll be damned if this game didn't increase my love for them tenfold, absolutely amazing. Even side characters like Jessie, Biggs and Wedge have been given new life, what were once characters who existed only to die during the Sector 7 Plate incident, are now fully fleshed out people with a range of emotions, and in Biggs' and Jessies cases, a REALLY hot redesign. There are even new characters who are just as loveable, like Leslie, a Corneo grunt who's secretly trying to get back at Corneo for making Leslie's fiancée his bride and her subsequent disappearance, there's then the new Trio of people needed to gain access to Corneo, Madam M, Sam and Andrea Rhodea, the final of which is my personal favourite, even the Squatting guys are given this treatment with a new character named Jules, then there's Tifas landlady, The Angel of the Slums and her granddaughter Kyrie, Johnny, there's simply too many to count, and they're all so entertaining, they make Side Activities worth the trouble.

Lastly I need to be a Grinch again, because I did not enjoy the gameplay here, more specifically the Combat, and the sole reason my score isn't higher. The combat in this game is dreadful, it may trick you initially into thinking it's fun because of how visually stunning it is, complete with insane particle effects and bright vibrant colours, but by the end you'll realize how shallow and boring it really is. For starters, let's discuss the Dodge... why is it even there? It's largely useless and I spent the better half of my 30 hour run trying in vain to dodge attacks, I later found out I was simply doing it wrong, apparently the Dodge is for big boss attacks and for regular fights you're meant to use the Block, the Block... does not Block, you still take damage, just kind of reduced. Cloud has a unique ability to Counter, but using it makes you incredibly slow and vulnerable to ranged attacks. Then there's stun lock... it's everywhere... Screw stun lock.

Overall a good game far from perfect but worth your time. Also Zack :)

The story got me hooked from the first moment and the protagonists are some of the best written characters I´ve seen in this generation. Midgar really felt like a real place to me and the gameplay felt like the perfect mix of real time combat with turn based combat (I hope the rest of Final Fantasy games from now on use the same combat style). The only negative point are some low res textures here and there and a quite small map, but I never felt like these things detracted even a bit from the experience. Can´t way to play the rest of the series when they release them. Expand

Fun battle system that is a fresh spin on the original games turn based and materia one. Iconic locations and music that bring a smile to your face. Linear stage design and it too often feels you are trapped in a corridor. All in all an enjoyable experience.

To put it simply I'd give the game a 95/100. This is my first Final Fantasy game, It has 2-3 problems. The first is the side quests, they just don't seem to have any depth and aren't interesting. The second is the level design, sometimes it just feels like the game is made the way it is just so it takes more time to do basic things. The third is chapter 6, it should be maybe 60% of the length it actaully is. There are several things that clearly only exist to slow you down and make you take more time, and they are just no fun to deal with. However the characters are amazing and I felt instantly attached to them. During combat at least for me there was no clear best character, they all had a roll to fill and could do it well.
The graphics are great, and the game ran pretty much perfectly. Like I said this is my first Final Fantasy game and I loved the story, from what I've seen online the ending was kind of controversial because it deviates from the origional, so I want and got a little run down of the origional's story, and honestly the origional's story seems good, but I'm happy with the direction the remake went. The world is also amazing. It seems so real, they did a phenomenal with world building. I generally liked the battle system, but there were a few moments where it was a little frustrating, especially with flying enemies, but there were other moments where the system just seemed perfect and it was some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Outside of 1 boss fight in chapter 17 while you are on the motor cycle all of the boss fights are good. The game was well worth the money, and I will buy the second part of the remake within the first week or two of it's launch (I don't preorder or buy games launch day).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

When you consider that the price tag for the first and likely for each episode is the same as full priced game, it seems like Square-Enix wants you to pay several hundred dollars for the whole game.
Even so, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to bite the bullet.
I ended up loving the new take and direction on the classical FF7 story and, without getting into spoilers, the episodic approach does make more sense now that I have finished the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game itself is great! I don't know why the user reviews are small, and prolly it's because it was review bombed, or the ending wasn't that great for Final Fantasy newbies/ Karens that want a 1:1 with the Original even though it is a 'Remake' not a Remaster, Trolls, and much more. This game deserves universal acclaim just like Ghost of Tsushima, or at the same level with The Last of Us II which is hot garbage. Final Fantasy VII Remake is a gem, whether or not you've played the Original or not, but it's better if you did.

Moving on, the combat is purely. A masterpiece. I enjoyed every piece of it when I battle someone or something in-game, it is a blend of FFVII's turn-based ATB System (Turn-based combat getting older and less used imo) + the modern action-based combat system just like in FFXV. Simply put, the Old meets the New. Fantastic. Seems like the devs from previous Final Fantasy really thought of something new to create this from their past mistakes. What is only a bit of disappointing though is the Aerial Combat, but it doesn't outweigh my love for this game. In Aerial Combat, you can't cast skills and characters need to charge up momentum to jump high and attack flying enemies. This is realism though, this is both good and a bit.. meh. Still love it. The combat is complete, with attack/counter/defend/etc. commands, but with the limit of ATB so no button spamming. Hard Mode tried my patience, you will completely renew your strategy. Plus, Jules will make you cry lol.

The graphics in-game. The cutscene quality. The Shin-Ra presentation on Chapter 17. Very, very astounding visual quality especially the latter example. They really put forth a lot of effort in this game, and you can't say it's cheaped out on and/or rushed. The animations in-game is good, when you step on a rock, when you step up, run the stairs, etc. but it lags matching up with the levels most of the time, but it quickly matches up on what level your foot is on the stairs. This is VERY MINOR and not a problem, just my observation. Also, Cloud's sword sometimes seems to glitch out on objects when he tries to sit on benches. Again, not a big problem. However, there are engine bugs (they say) that causes texture issue. A very noticeable example is the door at Stargazer Heights (Chapter 3), where the door is almost just colored and left without further details. Also, some things are 2D and blurry, go closer and they will become more detailed. I hope this issue gets resolved with a patch on the future, or an update in PS5 and PC/Xbox releases. People hating on these issues giving it a 5 or lower must sure be fun to talk to, huh? Not quite, they'll brag about how sharp their eyesights are. Some cutscenes, such as the Honeybee Inn in Chapter 9, is just fabulous.

The OSTs. Oh, you know what to expect. Masterpieces. Nobuo Uematsu + Hamauzu and others? Really love it. You will hear remade music from the original for most parts of the game, even though the music in the original did not play on Midgar, Remake played various remade songs from FFVII OG outside Midgar. I truly appreciate the work they put on remaking Orchestral/Electronic versions of almost every song there is on the Original.

This is where most haters/trolls/kids/first-timers of Final Fantasy/ KH Haters hate on - The ending of the game. Many people left confused, with those uninterested to further seek or dive deeper to what happened rating this game 5, or maybe even 3, lower or just plainly 0. The ending leaves so many questions, keeping ORIGINAL Final Fantasy VII fans questioning. It is indeed intriguing, and we're in for a ride for the 2nd part. The concept of the Remake being episodic is also a factor people hate this project. They're expecting a 'whole Remake' for a game that is released naturally long spanning 3 disks (Discs 1/2 were longer than the last, because the last only contains the last remaining bosses of the game). I see this having benefits - The devs can learn from their mistakes on this Part making Part 2 have greater quality. People also complain of them spending $60 every episode is out. You don't need to be poor in order to play this episodic project. These people also prolly got blinded by the microtransactions made in their Online Games. Pathethic. Making it episodic also means the Devs are maximizing stuffs on fleshing out the lore of FFVII. In the Original, there were many parts where the screen flashes and little to no explanations were left, but in the Remake - a scene, or an AI-operated cutscene will explain it to you.

As far as I can say, FFVII Remake is a really good game. They fleshed out more unexplained parts from the Original, put phenomenal graphics, excellent gameplay and combat, and many more. This is easily one of the GotY Material games out there, along with Ghost of Tsushima II and many others. Would recommend this more to those who played FFVII Original, to lessen people whining that really didn't plat the original.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is the game we've been waiting for from Square Enix for so long. Atmospheric, interesting and exciting all your attention modern jRPG with an interesting story and spectacular battles. To achieve the ideal, the project only needs more even graphics and all the content from the original release. If you were waiting for a turn-based classic with new graphics you will most likely be disappointed, since the game has changed a lot. Everyone else is happy with the release of the first really powerful single-player release from the internal Square Enix studio for many years. Especially after the failure of Final Fantasy XV.

What matters is still intact, and that’s the heart and soul of one of the greatest stories in video game history. It’s a return to form that has felt a long time in coming, and what’s even better is that there’s still at least two more games of this quality to come...They can’t mess this up, can they?
