    This game made me like the original FFVII a bit more since I have always considered it an overrated game. I loved the combat system, I liked the story and the ending, although controversial, quite shocking in my opinion. For me the game of the year

    Well, I play it in April but now i wanna write the review :P it's an awesome remake to comeback FF7 in the actual and next gen consoles, a hybrid battle A-RPG with turn-based system really fun and satisfying. The story have a little changes but its really emotive.
    The only problem its the texture issues, i think that square publish so quickly the game, but well... I enjoyed a lot.     If anyone gave this game below at the min a 6 they are just straight Purists which they didnt get their shot for shot Remake or there mad its in episode SMH. Get over it Cry Babies. As a die hard fan I cant give this anything but a 10. The feels I felt for this game were like known other.     A remake of an iconic classic. Updated battle system, sound, and graphics. I would've given it a 10 had it been released as a complete game, but sadly they are releasing it in episodes. So a 8 or 9 is the max I can give this. Overall, a great remake of FF7. I recommend playing using the original Japanese dub with english subtitles since the nuances of emotion are better conveyed byA remake of an iconic classic.     The game is one of a kind and thankfully, in a good way!

    It provides an extremely memorable experience and is a ton of fun.

    It does have flaws but I believe it is a game that outweighs the sum of its parts.

    Flaws are mostly occasional old level design which aren't the most fun and small pacing issues. Pro's are almost everything else. A real gem.

    Never played the original .. just got a ps5 and it made sense to try this game out .. my jaw was on the floor .. what a great game, great characters and beautiful graphics. Just awesome !

Such an amazing game, didn’t think I would love it so much, such a great experience, from the graphics to the music and it’s story and characters, this retelling of the classic Final Fantasy 7 was done so well, even with the new additions to the game and it’s story, this was a near perfection for me, did have some issues but they were more minor issues such asHuge fan of the FF series.     An amazing story, and awesome gameplay, and graphics. All of the boss fights were action packed, and the game has some really difficult challenges that force you to adapt.

    I might have a little bias from being a fan of the original FFVII. I was beyond excited when I seen this announced. This game has been great and so good to see some of the familiar characters again. As long as Square Enix keeps up this level of polish I will be looking forward to the next chapters.

    A fan of the OG and loved every minute of Remake. The soundtrack is beyond incredible and is hands down one of the best OST of any video game. Play with the volume on blast please! A must play if you're new to FF7 or a fan of the OG. By far one of the best games to be released so far this year. Oh and Tifa...

    As a big fan of FF7 the Remake was everything I had hoped for and more!     Onto the positive; pretty much everything else about the game. Graphics, music, fully fleshed out story, voice acting - all superb.

    The gameplay - it is the best they have done and my favourite. Each character is unique and fun to play as. Although, the AI does need a bit of tweaking for the future games, particularly with their ATB gauge fill rate. One thing that I think FF15 did well, which would be good to include in future FF7R games, is the sense of commraderie that FF15 instilled in how the characters interacted and fought together (helping each other up, combo attacks, basically just having Aerith hi-fiving everyone please!). There is some significant changes to the story and parts of the game that people may have huffed about, but I can assure you that they were well needed and well-done changes.     Stunning visuals and snappy rhythmic combat make even the most run-of-the mill enemy fights a complete treat. If you loved the original game, give this one a look. If you didn't, but enjoyed recent RPGs like Persona 5 and Dragon Quest 11, you'll also find an immersive story to enjoy here.

    Perfect. But sometimes the textures doesn’t charge. But I think it’s a console problem. The game itself is gorgeous, characters are well made and this game deserves to being called “remake” i hope that Square Enix will continue the project. Waiting for part 2.

The animation is 10/10 and the battle style is final Fantasy at its best, combining Crisis cores, kingdom hearts and FF Xv game style for the best. The characters are all fleshed out in an interesitng way. The ending although questionable it leaves so many questions unanswered that i really really want to learn about.. So ffvii Pt2 Come out already :D.

When I heard about the 7Remake coming on ps4 I did buy the console and the game st D1. When I played the demo I was not sure about the combact system but the game was spectacular and everythign was alike the original. I have finished thr game in 48 hoursI have been played final fantasy till the X which is one of my favourite. Since then I' ve never been attracted by any other FF at all.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ce jeu est incroyable et m'a fait vivre de grande émotion ! Il vaut son pesant d'or et il est clairement dans mon top 3. Le fait d'avoir une fin différente de l'original amène un vent de fraîcheur et permet d'augmenter l'excitation en vue du prochain. La relation entre les personnages est naturelle et bien écrite. Les boss sont mémorables, particulièrement la maison et Sephiroth.

    Les seuls **** défauts sont parfois la facilité à laquelle on peut battre les ennemis de base en normal (Je n'ai pas encore joué en difficile), les combats aériens (il faut absolument les gérer avec Aerith ou Barrett si possible) et certaines quêtes annexes. Pour ce dernier point, je dirai que la majorité de celles-ci sont plaisantes à faire et dépende de vous.

    Dans mon cœur, c'est un 11/10, mais réalistement c'est 9/10. C'est pas si mal !     … Expand

It shot out like a canon ball and had my jaw drop at stunning locations / scenery, cry like the manchild I am at points, laugh at jokes and learn to love these characters even more.     I never played the original when I first bought FF7 Remake, so I was very surprised to how good this was after playing the original. The graphics aren't always the best and the some of the side quests are tedious, but it's one of my favorite games of 2020. The game has some of the best combat I have used, great voice acting, a great soundtrack, and many more things to offer.     If you see some early videos from 2015 and compare the final game, you can see that Square Enix did a serious effort to actually make a good game that lives up to the hype. When I first read this project would be lead by Tetsuya Nomura I could only prepare for the worst... Both FFXV and KH3 weren’t exactly a good game, in fact, both of them if they didn’t have the franchise name would be games nobody would played to begin with. So, when I first grabbed my control, and played the opening chapter was delighted to se that everything that was done bad in the past, this time was corrected.

    Many complain about battle system and I can imagine it’s people that didn’t played FF XV (the first with real-time combat). Everything that had issues, it’s fully functional, even the use of magic and items and the fact that only pressing the attack button will make you die, so that you actually have to use your head to think what’s convenient for you speaks really well on the effort in this regard.

    Oh the technical aspect, this game truly reaches the limit of PS4. Many textures really have bad quality, but the vast majority does not. Actually, the draw distance is IMMENSE and due to this many scenes have such an impact, also, the characters have so much detail so you can apréciate the effort to make them look so unique. Square Enix really took serious efforts in this regard, I do not particularly think graphics should be something to mention that much nowadays, but this game DO makes its pathway forwards recognition in this area. Every animation, scenario, cinematic, dialogue, OST is carefully crafted: there’s lots of quality in pretty much everything you see or do in this game. As I stated before since the first couple of trailers back on 2015 Square Enix had a clear idea on how to make this game, yet really polished the game so it would be so special.

    What about the plot? It’s interesting, but sometimes I get the feeling that storytelling looses its path. Many things take its time to settle and/or make sense. Speaking of which: this game is relatively short (about 40 hours). it doesn’t even cover 1/3 of the original game, so it makes me wonder how much time it will take to actually see the full story on remake. Despite enjoying this game, it’s not the full story and this game took 5 years to finally hit the shelves... how many years will have to wait?

    Another thing to mention is the fact that they’re selling this game again with some extra DLC... EXACTLY for this kind of things I rate this game with 9. This could be a 10 or the best game in the. Entire history, instead, we get a really good game.    … Expand

Разумеется, после приключений Ноктиса и компании как никогда захотелось и дальше получать удовольствие от номерных частей серии. И вот, - руки дошли до FF7 Remake. Если коротко, - бегите ее покупать или заберите    PS4 Slim

    Бесплатная демоверсия FF7 Remake заставила меня пройти FFXV . И, знаете, сделал я это не без интереса. 80 часов хорошего роуд трипа со своими минусами и плюсами.

    Разумеется, после приключений Ноктиса и компании как никогда захотелось и дальше получать удовольствие от номерных частей серии. И вот, - руки дошли до FF7 Remake.

    Если коротко, - бегите ее покупать или заберите сейчас в PS+ пока есть время)
    Это достойный проект с кучей юмора, интересных персонажей и увлекательных кат-сцен.
    И про геймплей не забыли! От боев получаешь драйв. При этом играешь вдумчиво, не просто бьешь по кнопкам, а порой выстраиваешь целые комбинации.

    Про сюжет говорить сложно, так как я, считайте, только-только познакомился с франшизой. И, если хотите узнать побольше: почитайте Wiki о вселенной FF, посмотрите видео на схожую тематику или на крайняк, - читайте в рецензиях других пользователей. Порой встречаются очень достойные ответы на Лор. Но поосторожней там... Cпойлеры!!! От себя добавлю, что все это очень интересно смотреть. Привыкаешь к персонажам, следишь за сюжетом. И главное, с повествованием у игры проблем нет.

    Графика достойная. На консольной железяке увидеть такую красивую экспозицию крайне приятно. Конечно, встречаются мыльноватые текстуры, подгружающиеся объекты, но, что поделать, - бывает. Все это не мешает наслаждаться общей картинкой.

    Несмотря на то, что игре уже почти год, - она все еще актуальна. Не бойтесь попробовать в нее поиграть)

    По моему субъективному мнению, твердая 9 из 10. Я очень рад, что поиграл в этот шедевр. И вам советую. Главное - начать.

    I feel the FF franchise has just wanted to make movies, and a lot of the gameplay and cohesion suffer greatly because of that (since FFX). The Remake has a lot of that movie studio polish and a new battle engine, but I found it enjoyable and engaging for *most* of the run.

    I have played this game almost 4 times through now and it has been out for almost 1 year. Where the game shines is the battle system, and how you can configure each character to your liking (though they still have their areas of excellence). Unfortunately the depth of the combat with weapons, accessories, and materia cannot be fully realized until Hard Mode is unlocked. I wish that depth could happen in a single play through, but I am no game developer and I wouldn't know how to make that happen.

    Playing through again on Hard Mode is all about the battle system and getting the most out of your play style. The Normal mode (or Easy or Classic) is there to engross you in the story. If you look at it this way, I think it's rather nice. Story first, then putting nose to the grind stone with a stronger battle mode.

    This game is far from perfect. Fortunately, or unfortunately, games lately, especially in the FF franchise, have been less than good. So the parts that are not great are still better or the same as other FF title issues.

    Some issues are the padded quests. They can get a little annoying for sure. There are also the mandatory shuffle-through-tight-space events. Really unnecessary. The textures issue is egregious, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping it is fixed for the PS5 release in June 2021. Another sad point is that one of the characters towards the end loses characterization and becomes the cryptic exposition machine that Square Enix loves. I want to give the game an 8.5, but since I cannot, I will give it a 9 for the magic it brought back to the characters and world of FF7.

    One stellar part of the Remake is how they treat and characterize Cloud. Much better job than the original. And their handling of Wall Market and the transformation was so well done and very socially aware. I know a lot were worried about this portion and I can't think of a better way of handling it than they did in the game. Bravo FF7R team.

    FFVII is why I got into games in the first place. You really think I would ever rate it low? The game is amazing, looks amazing, plays amazing. The story and music touch my soul. Anyone that doesn't like FFVII can jump off a bridge.

    I was personally very disappointed with the ending, but I don’t think it’s fair to change my score based on that. The game itself was amazing and I enjoyed the entire game up to that point. SE did an amazing job and they really did even better than I expected with this Midgar portion.

    The combat system is great and the direction they are going with the story is pretty neat, but overall was highly disappointed with everything else. Felt like a chore to get through everything. Also didn't like how Linear the game is. I Guess I can't fault it because its all in Midgar, but really cannot wait until it opens up in later installments.

Graphics for a PS4 game are well done sure some textures seem low res I dont know if its limits of a console or rush but they dont break you out of the game play. HDR looks great. Mini games are hard as hell. Someone said Normal is hard for no reason I personally did thing it was to hard. I did everything in the first play took about 35 hours. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to play FF7 for the first time or who played the old one.… Expand

The fact that those conversations are based on player actions just makes it even more rewarding.It’s a game with all those elements that clearly show that it’s a game, But it’s a movie as well. A really good movie by the way. Awesome storytelling that just makes me want to see what happens next. You must play this. So what did the Remake improve upon the original game except from the gameplay? Well, the characters are way better, they have more personality and development and they are more likeable. Many sections such as the Wall Market or Shinra Building include more cutscenes and are bigger than before, making them more fresh and modern, and they are just so awesome. This game feels so magical and nostalgic, it's like watching a spectacular animated movie, with breathtaking cutscenes and fantastic music playing in the background.     That was bold move, I don't know what to think about it, so I hold my judgement until next part.

    Guess I am worried what SquareEnix is going to do in next.

    Mayby this will crash train we are in, like many other old franchise (Star Wars, Star Trek or Last of Us)

    The gameplay is simply amazing, even better than the original ATB.

    There is also a few glitches on the graphics, but it is still beatifull.

One enemy would be a challenge but fun and the next would be downright impossible where I make absolutely no dent in their health, then the next enemy or boss would just be a fun challenge again.

    Aside from the combat, the story is not as close to the original as I would have liked. The further I got in the game the more i resented the filler in between the sequences I adore from the original. Then came that ending! One thing to me is certain, I cannot think of this as FF7 remake anymore. It is much more like FF7 reboot now, which I do NOT like.

    So why am I still giving this game a 10? For two reasons, first is to make up for trolls. Second reason I'm giving it a 10 is because what did I do when I finished this game? I immediately started it over again. No matter how much I want to dislike this game I don't. I've let my anger over the differences settle, and now that I know what to expect from the game I will probably enjoy it more the 2nd time around.    … Expand

    This is for FF7 fans. The gameplay is amazing, the world is beautiful and rich. The story might be contentious since it seems to be going in a different route from the old game. It's exciting to see. It looks like it's happening in its own canon.

    Looks fantastic, combat is great, but guys, it feels that you stretch 10 hours into 30 hours, its soooo long, nothing is going on with the script at all.
    Moreover half of the location are the same storehouses and facilities, totally the same. And those surprises with ghost in the plot-that is for 7 years old kids.

    I really don't have many negative experiences while playing the game. There are a few weird combat targeting and camera issues. But they are few and far between. It's not perfect, but still amazing. I would give the game a 9.5 but rounded up for my score.

    This game is really worth playing, and a trendsetter for future RPG's, not just JRPGS. I got a platinum trophy and I'm planning on playing through it again real soon!    … Expand

    The voice-acting is near perfection and I enjoyed the fleshed out dialogue between the main characters, accurately depicting their personalities and bringing their character development to a new level. They clearly put a lot of work in the presentation of the story. The combat is fun. I do enjoy that each character has their own unique core abilities and it does make for a more dynamic experience, but the materia system does seem a bit out of place here. The soundtrack is mostly very good with arrangements that add intensity to the major battles.

    But what makes this game less than great, and merely a good game, is the blatant padding. A significant portion of the 40 hours I played were spent doing fetch quests and backtracking through places looking for quest objectives. As many others have pointed out, most of these quests add nothing to the story and they do not give you any exciting items or provide you with rewarding challenges.

    I also do feel that the ending of the game is taking the series in the wrong direction. I got the whole "power of friendship" anime vibe at the ending, and the game has already revealed Sephiroth to be a godly powerful being. In the original, by the time we leave Midgar, we know that Sephiroth is a skilled warrior, but we do not even begin to fully understand what he is until Cloud breaks the news to the party in Kalm, and we do not understand his godly power until we fight him at the end of the game. Also at the end, the party has already overcome forces that seem to be greater than most of Disc 2 in the original. If they can beat Destiny itself and put up a fight against Sephiroth in his one-winged form, then how the hell are Shinra going to pose a threat to them?

    I do not think it was a good decision to release this game into multiple parts. It's going to kill the flow of the story and it will also make the transition into an open world much more awkward, if that is indeed their plan. Part of what made the original so great was exploring the world, that led to side quests which actually added to the story, provided new challenges, and rewarded you with lots of interesting items. This is not here in the first chapter of the remake, and I'm not sure how or if they will implement that in the next chapters. The only benefit to splitting this into multiple episodes is only for the company to make more money from it, and I feel that is precisely what Square Enix was aiming for with this release. What a shame.

    In summary, this is proving to be an inferior project compared to the original game. I do feel it is still worth playing, but it could have been something far greater.    … Expand

    in not short: high expectations and more anticipated than the second coming, Ff7 remake proves that a JRPG doesn't need to be "open world" to be good.

    I thought that ff7 1997 was good, and I could see why people loved it, but I preferred some later installments.
    In fact, the most memorable part of the game for me was the Midgar section, I always had fuzzy memories of what happens afterwards (except the end of disc 1 and the very very end).
    So, I guess it makes sense for the developers to focus on that part, although to me it felt like "we had no idea on how to translate the world map on a ps4".
    The end result both suffers and benefits from this, we all know is an incomplete story, but the remake offers a solid full game, well worth its price.
    Having said that, some areas of the game overstay their welcome and seemed to be stretched just for the sake of length.
    The highlight of the game for me was everything happening in wall market, where all the gameplay mechanics are used well and in ways I was not expecting.
    A great plus in this game is the combat system, long are the days of "press button to win": here there is a complex system of balancing equipment with skills and coordination with the party members.
    I actually died in this game a few times: boss fights were challenging but not frustrating, and showed how having the right Materia could make the difference between life or death.
    Replay value will be determined by how much people are invested in playing this game again, once they know the story.
    Speaking of story, I still have no idea what happened in the last section of the game, so I will pretend it never happened until we see the Part 2 sometime in 2120.    … Expand

    Cons:
    - uninspired level design (yes, I know it's a remake of an old game, I can still not like something. I also never played the original).
    - Gameplay/combat wasn't deep enough for a 30-40 long campaign, making the game feel extra drawn out.

From someone who played Resident evil 2 and Resident evil 3 which were really average remake. FFVII follow the original close enough while adding contents and modify the gameplay to feel new but also classic. I can't wait for Episode 2 and 3.     I never got into this at first as I never played the origional and have never been able to get through a Final Fantasy game. But once I got into FFVII R I was in love.. The characters, the story, gameplay, graphics, the girls ,EVERYTHING is perfect. I could not put it down from begining to end. The emotions from the love triangle and the friends Cloud makes is an experiance very few gamesI never got into this at first as I never played the origional and have never been able to get through a Final Fantasy game.     Had my reservations with this as I'm an OG FFVII player who wanted the turn based combat to remain, but pleasantly surprised I enjoyed the new style. Story was good & more detailed than the original.
    The only downside is the combat got a bit repetitive at times, especially going through that underground tunnel. Highly recommend though to anyone sitting on the fence.

    I am huge fan of original game and have played it numerous times on different platforms, so when this remake was announced I had a lot of doubts how can they transfer original spirit so many years later when FF series have been dying for so long.

    Well, Square did incredible job at refreshing this gem and I’m astounded it turned out to be great game that I really enjoyed playing.     Perfect remake of a classic. There's literally no flaws.
    10/10 music, story, characters, graphics, length and pacing are on point. Perfect conclusion. I just really hope they won't fail the 2nd part.

    This game is a true reimagining of the original game we all know and love. The music is insane, the story beats are all there and expanded, and they nailed the characters. I just hoped they had better side quests, they feel completely souless and the only reason to do them is to experience the great combat. This is the closest you can get to full turn based and it is glorious! You can't really ask for better bosses. Even a minor character shows up as a great boss. Just don't do all the side quests, just get a taste to how they feel in the first section (go ahead do them all), and you will know how bad they are (it never changes). I hate myself for doing almost all of the sidequests because it takes away from the game SO much. They are the worst mmo garbage quests in one horrible package. You get sick of it. So just do a third of them for each area and move on! The game would be a 10 without those, but remember, you don't have to do them (even the rewards are very bad). People are so childish, there is no gun to your head to make you do anything. The rest is just brilliant!… Expand

    To let you know the game is not 100% the same as the original PS1 game there are changes. I never played the original ps1 version It was a chance to experience the story with a blank slate. The environment and graphics of the game are some of the best I ever seen in a video game to date. The game play combat is a blast. At times the story can be top notch and very funny.     Didn't played the original so can't compare but this is best FF game since 12. Amazing graphics except in outside areas, the are so lower in resolution. Battle system is mix of ATB and action. Perfect modern style.

    I was one of the unlucky ones that didn't get to play the original. The remake was magnificent in every aspect. I've enjoyed playing it and was awed by the graphics. Nicely done.

    Final Fantasy VII Remake starts out breath taking and fun… everything about this game has been modernized to essentially feel more like a kingdom hearts game.. you have hack and slash elements mixed with hints of turn based roots, as youll be able to attach different spells and moves to each of your weapons and gear for all of your party.. all of course attached to magic points… so the potions and spell management is there to really engage you in this games combat… and this combat stays really fun and addictive from start to finish, though admittedly it does get a bit tiresome towards the end with regular enemies… I found them to be a bit too spongy and more of a nussance than a fun challenge after a while… thankfully the boss battles here prove to be exciting, challenging, and fun every time.. each boss having its own feel and strategy, different weak points and weaknesses… limbs you can chose to attack to take care of annoying attacks… the boss battles were my favorite part of this game and I wish there were twice as many and half as many random enemy ecounters.. another great aspect of final fantasy 7 remake is its story and character development, you get to know each character and their motives, their hearts throughout this story, really making you care to see this game through to its end… so much so that according to trophy stats, about half of the players that start this game finish it… which is insane considering again this is a nearly 30 hour long game… speaking of trophies… finaly fantasy 7 remake isn’t all greatness… for starts there are broken trophies here.. I have about 5 or so story related trophies that didn’t pop throughout my playthrough… and in terms of the world of finaly fantasy 7… this is the weakest aspect… everything id dark and grey and industrial and I hate it… I get plenty love settings like this but I need some color in my life… I can only take so many shades of grey, final fantasy 7 gives you all 50…. Also progressing through this world feels like a bit of a chore at times… don’t get me wrong most of the time I love the linear feel here.. up and down latters, through halways, fight enemies, do it again, fight a boss, occasionally get thrown into a cool sequence out of nowhere riding motorcycles or showing off your sick dance moves… but the chapters whre youre throwing switches or controlling a crane… they were awful.. thankfully theyre few and far between.. but I hated them…
    Overall that Final Fantasy 7 is a really great action game period, if youre a final fantasy fan or not… you owe it to yourself to experience Final Fantasy 7 Remake as an action or rpg fan.. or even if you like a good story with great characters.. the good outweighs the bad here…

    Final Fantasy VII Remake is everything you expect from a remake and it is glorious. This isn’t the complete package that every diehard VII fans were expecting, but our time in Midgar will keep us waiting for more whenever Square Enix is ready for Parts 2 and 3 to be released. If you’re new to RPG gaming and love anime, you will indeed love this game.

    Final Fantasy VII Remake is the game we've been waiting for from Square Enix for so long. Atmospheric, interesting and exciting all your attention modern jRPG with an interesting story and spectacular battles. To achieve the ideal, the project only needs more even graphics and all the content from the original release. If you were waiting for a turn-based classic with new graphics you will most likely be disappointed, since the game has changed a lot. Everyone else is happy with the release of the first really powerful single-player release from the internal Square Enix studio for many years. Especially after the failure of Final Fantasy XV.

    What matters is still intact, and that’s the heart and soul of one of the greatest stories in video game history. It’s a return to form that has felt a long time in coming, and what’s even better is that there’s still at least two more games of this quality to come...They can’t mess this up, can they?
