    Played fifa 20 and have been playing fifa 21 for 2 months and have to say that i would have more fun going to the casino and playing slots and betting my life away because that is just like playing fifa these days, ea have made one of the worst games known to consumers, just for their greedy company , if i could i would give this game a minus 10

    The worst FIFA I have ever played in my life. Ultimate team is not too bad if you want to play squad battles and constantly smack your opponents 5-0 every game over and over again. However, career mode is a different story, one minute you’re winning too easily on legendary 6-0 then the opponents score 6 goals in 10 minutes because goalkeepers can’t save shots which are millimeters next toThe worst FIFA I have ever played in my life. Think again! The penalty taker places the ball on the exact right spot to hit the post and fire into the back of the net and cause you to be now drawing a game which should realistically be won. You’re honestly better off simulating each game or even better, find a game which properly replicates a real life football game and not a 13 goal thriller between Liverpool and Sheffield Utd where the score line ends with you only just beating your opponent 7-6 in the last few seconds. FIFA 21 is by far the most unrealistic, lazy, tragic and scripted FIFA that has ever been made. EA only care about money which is as obvious as a blonde’s fake tan.… Expand

    I won the first game vs my brother, then the second game he miraculously scores 5 goals by Jota and my defender jus running with him, its like he is part of the opposing team , overall this game is just a **** with their scripting and handicapped gameplay.

    You would think a game that came out every year could eventually get it right. Fifa has basically become a copy and paste from previous years, with minor changes. I'm not sure what game the professional reviewers are writing about, or is they have to say its good because it is very far from it.     You would think a game that came out every year could eventually get it right. Fifa has basically become a copy and paste from previous years, with minor changes. I'm not sure what game the professional reviewers are writing about, or is they have to say its good because it is very far from it.

    First up, the defence in this game is just...non-existent. They introduced more attacking "improvements" and once again have done nothing to make the defence any better. Often your players will just stand there and watch as the opposing players run past them, either with or without the ball. If you are playing with CM's then be prepared to have to control them ALL the time, otherwise the same above will happen, they will just stand there and rotate (not turn) as players walk past them. I cant even tell you how many times the ball has rolled only a few inches past them and they have done nothing, or had to watch as i control my cb to track a strikers run whilst my CM stands completely still as players walk past them.

    The game in an attacking sense is all about pace as well. Quicker players = better players. With the extremely over powered through ball combined with this pace and the inability to defend, it is next to impossible to defend, just sit back and hope for the best really. In about 95% of games i have played there has been over 5 goals in total. It becomes a game where literally every attack can lead to a goal.

    Goalkeepers may as well not be on the pitch, they are useless. Often they just fall under shots, and very rarely will actually save anything, let alone hold onto it. Most corners are punched out straight back to the opponent. If the ball goes back to a keeper from , say, an oppo bad through ball rather than being able to control the keeper they will normally slice the ball away for a throw in.

    Corners can be okay, but if the other team manages to win the ball it's very easy to score on the counter.

    In FUT (if you play that) the variety is gone. I remember the old fifas when this was about mixing teams up etc, now i rarely see a team i haven't played several times before (back 4 of mendy, varane, dijk walker).

    The matchmaking system is broken. It does not take into account the level of your team, only your skill rating, why not just combine the two? There is no point me with my average team constantly playing against people with in form ronaldo and other legends making up their team just because they have the same skill rating. The gap in sides you face negates the evenly matched skill rating. It also means there is no real point building any bronze/silver teams.

    And my final point, the broken mechanics of the game. A huge glaring one is kick off goals. For some reason after scoring, its very easy for the other team to simply run through your whole team and score a goal. Especially with the kick up "glitch", not necessarily a glitch but a player juggling a ball can travel from the halfway line through to the goal with relative ease. Its broken things like this that still have not been fixed, and ea probably wont bother until Fifa 22 comes out to do it.

    Before writing this i have played over 100 games, thinking that was a fair amount to give an honest and unbiased review of the game. It's completely broken. Defence as mentioned is pointless, the cpu off the ball do nothing to help anymore, instead just standing there and watching. Your best bet is basically to go for the all out attack. It isn't uncommon at all that i've found myself 3-0 down from 3 attacks in 20 minutes, only to win the game 8-3 in the end.

    I bought this used, for 10 euros, and I'm going to sell it on again after only +-10 hours of playing, because:

    I bought this used, for 10 euros, and I'm going to sell it on again after only +-10 hours of playing, because:
    - Keepers are still completely clueless, parrying shots central, diving with their head towards the goal instead of reaching to make a save, sometimes even just coming out just to do nothing and give the opponent a free goal...
    - The game changes my formation mid-game to the 'default' team formation, this happens in roughly 2 out of 3 season games I play.
    - Players make the most unnatural movements, there's still a lot of 50/50 tackles and defenders still lock onto the ball instead of it's trajectory when a long ball is played in.
    - Game still seems to fail to recognize tackles & draw cards accordingly
    - Scripting / Dynamic difficulty, or simply bugged gamestate if you don't like the previous 2 words, is still very much a thing,
    - Do I even have to mention the cover art?

    They cut down budget on almost everything, except for FUT features, because that's where the money is. All other features get neglected, including gameplay.

    These are only a handful of things that I came across during a few hours of playing, while only testing seasons. To the people that say the career mode's been improved, has it really though? Remember FIFA 20's simply wasn't playable, so the bar isn't set very high.

    As a developer myself, it blows my mind, how a game that is a live product continues to release in a broken state and have the company get away with it, year after year.
    If it was a one-hit release game, I'd give it a 6 maybe, but since it's a continuous game service, this state is simply inexcusable and shouldn't be accepted by it's consumer base.    … Expand

Gameplay wise, they fix a problem for next release only for 2 new ones to appear. And if you can look past the shoddy gameplay its just boring, career mode is just a copy-paste with different UI. Looking at Football Manager and PES you'd think the sky is the limit with different management interactions but its all rubbish. This game needs a complete overhaul of new ideas, or it needs to step aside and let another developer have a go. This EA monopoly needs to end and stop treating the players like fools.… Expand

    Online lag is terrible. No way to block players with bad connections. The game is unplayable when you keep having to play people across the world with bad internet. No way to avoid it. Easy fix but EA is a joke.

These guys need to be sued for fraudulent behavior and be made to refund all the money that any user has paid into it. It’s basically illegal. Garbage game and honestly the only reason I buy is cause of the footballing rights so I can play as my team. I don’t know how they’ve managed it but all your AI players are completely useless and just stand around watching the opposition attack. Midfielders will not come back and just stand there doing nothing. Defenders seem to back away from the strikers. This coupled with how hard it is to tackle makes theI can’t play this game.     I see a lot of people complaining that it's the same game as every year, it's not. It's much worse. This is the least balanced FIFA there has been for close to 20 years. Bottom line is, it's not even fun to play. It feels like a game that's been tuned specifically for esports competitions and it's not longer a game designed for people to enjoy.

The sad part is that no matter what is said in these reviews EA will continue to make billions of this franchise every year. The company is so morally bankrupt that I'm almost certain this game breaks multiple consumer laws. If you value your mental health or your relationships and your general life I would strongly recommend not buying this game. There is not a single redeeming quality about it. I wish nothing but pain and suffering upon everyone who uses varane and hope that every EA employee involved in making this game watch their children burn alive!

    An absolute garbage. As soon as you start playing you can feel the incompetence behind making this game. Passing system is terrible. Player lock system is not related to the in game situations. Laws of physics dont apply to the players. Tackling system most of the times overruns to the attacking positions so when you want to shoot, the player makes a tackle even though he actually is inAn absolute garbage.     Scripted BS - its not even subtle anymore, half time/full time goals, rebounds, blocks, defenders being actually (moved/slid) scripted out of position to leave huge areas for attackers to run into - whats the point....

    Gameplay absolutely horrendous! It is an absolute joke compared to FIFA 20 (which wasn't the best). Passing is absolutely stupid (a ball goes the whole lenght of the field like a hot knife through butter). Defending is terrible, and even if you used te be an absolute wall in FIFA 20, it doesn't matter. Overall a trash game!!

Please get more/better servers even though your gameplay mechanics are broken at least make the terrible game playable. You make enough money from lil kids to invest in better / consistent game play.     I’ve played fifa for a long time, this is by far the worst version I’ve played. The game play is shocking. Granted career mode has a couple of nice changes, but not enough to be mentionable. I find that I have to sim the games as if I play on my normal level (legendary or above) the game play is too awful. Midfielders don’t track back, goalkeepers always concede near post, the team don’tI’ve played fifa for a long time, this is by far the worst version I’ve played. The game play is shocking. Granted career mode has a couple of nice changes, but not enough to be mentionable. I find that I have to sim the games as if I play on my normal level (legendary or above) the game play is too awful. Midfielders don’t track back, goalkeepers always concede near post, the team don’t keep their defensive shape, players don’t intercept balls right next to them and the referees are beyond a joke. The slightest of contact inside the box will be given as a penalty, whereas outside of the box nearly no fouls are given. I honestly can’t believe how EA have been able to mess up the refereeing so much, it’s always been something that has been fairly solid but this years game has had the worst decisions I have ever seen (for and against me). In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend buying this game. Fifa has been in decline over the years anyway but this game is by far the worst.… Expand

It all about the money if you don't mean to buy fifa points don't play this game. Community is also really bad even in april lot of people still using same meta players and you will face same teams over and over again

It's what you deserve after ignoring your fanbase for so many years and having the audacity to charge full price. You could've been undefeated fit the next 20 years of you just did a bit of actual work and were innovative. RIP FIFA

    Fifa has tried to get around the scripting issues which were more blatant before by making player switching more unreliable so that you switch to the wrong player at key moments. The create your own stadia is a mess, pink lines, snowmen and birthday cake footballs shouldn’t be in the game. The whole mode is a complete cash cow. Players get nerfed after a period of time so you’re forced to upgrade and spend money on coins. To get the best players you either have to play at least 60 games per week so that’s a minimum of 15 hours just to be in with a chance to get some decent ‘pack’ pulls or you have to spend real money to buy packs which for icon players have about a 1% chance pull rate and for normal 88+ rated players it’s about 5% depending on packs. EA trying to clamp down on players buying coins from the black market so they are closing accounts at the slightest suspicion (hasn’t happened to me but I know plenty) so if you buy a player for more than they are worth by accident EA bans you from the transfer market. Players are constantly being hacked and coins gone and players sold etc. You contact EA and they assign a games specialist to investigate, 2 month later they look into it and claim that nothings wrong and you lose your coins etc and EA don’t operate an appeals procedure nor do they have any kind of complaints procedure so you cannot escalate anything. They are not bothered about the customer it’s only about the money. The servers are terrible, they always have been but you would think the popularity of the game that they would invest in this area. No not EA, you play a game with constant lag and often kicks you out for connectivity reasons even though your internet and your opponents internet are high with a low ping. The games broken. More about the cash cow rather than the gaming for EA. Very poor showing. I will not invest again next year. This is the last which is a shame… Expand

    Utter **** scripting is worse than it’s ever been, there is no such thing as smart A.I. and the play is clunky, Sunday league mistake after mistake. I thought they would have tried with some of the new rebranding but like EA this is hot garbage covering in the frustrations of nearly any player who has touched the game.

    Game for fans who either need to work online at FUT every day, or instead want to try a modified career mode, which is starting to really look like Football Manager. Otherwise, it's a decent update for the full price. [Issue#307]

    The FIFA series desperately needs a fresh start. Right now, it relies mainly on the Ultimate Team mode and marketing, while going around in circles. Instead of leaping into the future, FIFA 21 takes half a step forward and two steps sideways in an attempt to differentiate itself from its predecessor well enough to rationalize spending money. If you already own FIFA 20 and are not addicted to Ultimate Team, you can sit this one out. [12/2020, p.44]
