    Gameplay in this game is horrible, This game took a solid 10 steps backwards form Fifa 18, timed finishing is horrendous and the new right stick flicking feature while pleasant to look ruins the movement aspect of the game. Passing is slower and the new ways of receiving the ball means you HAVE to use all of the preset fifa skill animations rather than moving with the right stick and haveGameplay in this game is horrible, This game took a solid 10 steps backwards form Fifa 18, timed finishing is horrendous and the new right stick flicking feature while pleasant to look ruins the movement aspect of the game. Gameplay is ruined, I will be going back to FIFA 18 until fixed. The only improvement is the second player markers which are extremely helpful when switching.     I would describe myself as an avid fan of football games, and over the last 20 years have owned nearly all Fifa's and have spent many many hours playing them, however Fifa 19 in my opinion is the worse in the franchise since fifa 64, visually it's fantastic the presentation and graphics are second to none especially with the inclusion of CL and Europa League licensing.

    But that's where    I would describe myself as an avid fan of football games, and over the last 20 years have owned nearly all Fifa's and have spent many many hours playing them, however Fifa 19 in my opinion is the worse in the franchise since fifa 64, visually it's fantastic the presentation and graphics are second to none especially with the inclusion of CL and Europa League licensing.

    But that's where it ends, on the pitch where the game truly matters or to me should do it's found wanting, gameplay is unrealistic to say the least, the ball shoots around like a pinball, including hitting the post or crossbar 5 times a match if not more ,the Goalkeepers AI makes Massimo Taribi look like a world beater at times and 50/50's are about as effective as a chocolate teapot, there are so many other areas of the gameplay as well that it feels like an unfinished game (FYI I've spent about 25 hours playing this on my own and with others).

    If the above still leaves you undecided this might help, the Fifa franchise to EA sports is now quite clearly developed to be its cash cow, Ultimate Team which generates huge revenue for EA has been revamped but all other modes in my opinion have fallen to the waste side, an example of this is the career mode which has had no changes at all except everything now has a tinge of blue and the champions league music is in the game due to the new licenses.

    So in a summary, Fifa 19 is a repackaged Fifa 18 with poorer gameplay, lack of game updates especially career mode where there are none and slightly improved graphics    … Expand

    Gameplay. Well where do we begin? Defending is difficult, I found that players simply walked through my midfield despite my efforts to make plug up any holes. At any stage where its more effective to simply let the AI do the defending for you is bad news.     Well where do we begin? Defending is difficult, I found that players simply walked through my midfield despite my efforts to make plug up any holes. At any stage where its more effective to simply let the AI do the defending for you is bad news.

    Attacking is also equally difficult largely in part to changes in pace mechanics and passing mechanics which is a double edged sword. I get nerfing pace but in reality if I slip a through ball to a 90 odd pace player I do not expect him to be caught as easily as they will be caught in this game.

    Passing is a frustrating affair also with how pressure works in this game (It actually does work and you will be pressed hard) any erroneous pass will result in devastating counter attacks but while most of the time it was mostly my error, the trapping and lack of urgency when moving the ball quickly just makes simple A passes lead to the opponent countering.

    Creating chances is harder also but the lack of movement honestly kills me at times when trying to maintain possession you will have to keep the ball for an extraordinary amount of time before somehow one of the players decides to make a run through a defence to set up an opportunity. There's just no real flow.

    Deflections and bounces are varying degrees of unfair from mildly frustrating to controller snapping rageaholic. Whenever attempting some form of tackle the ball just bounces around and will end up in a dangerous position and it makes no sense, I hate the fact we have to charge a tackle, just tackle the ball and get it away not let it bounce several times and the opponents forward simply just rugby charge through my defenders to get the ball and score. That is not football.

    Ultimately the reviews before you speak for themselves. The lack of changes to Pro Clubs and Career Mode is shambolic and I completely agree on that front but I have to talk gameplay wise and its frustrating.

    Thats all it is, its frustrating you will get frustrated to no end because every time you lose you will find several key moments where you ask yourself "What more could I of done?" and 9/10 the answer is nothing, its just bad luck and thats not good.

    I mean the fact that this will be a eSports game is laughable.    … Expand

    Since FIFA 15 i started to feel injustice in the gameplay, script as they call it.
    Since FIFA 15 EA doesnt promote the best and more skiled players, they try to have a balanced game independent of skill level, so even when u feel u are destroying u are actually not, the game never feels fair for none of the sides, which means that online you will never feel secure playing it.

    The game seems too random and anybody can win,ping ponged gameplay being the reason for it mainly online, AI still dumb, making players react faster doesnt mean they are smarter, defending seems clunky in some online games feel unreactive to anything even when the opposing players are moving slow
    Even though EA made always a good job on the content they add, they never actually made a good football game in this generation in my opinion.
    If you feel like you have no actual control over a game why would you be playin it right?
    Offline is playable but not fun anymore because they did nothing to give us a better career mode
    Overall what they did was give some additions like they timed shot and better animations, nothing more script still on and stronger than ever since FIFA 15.
    I recommend EA to put some work into the gameplay and career mode cause the online content is already perfect, FIFA 19 just shows that many people stopped buying copies because of FIFA 18.    … Expand

It's obvious that development resources are going towards micro transactions, the license to use the "Champions League" brand, and the ultimate team mode to generate more revenue. Career mode playersFIFA 19 is a disappointment considering the fact that it's mostly indistinguishable from FIFA 18.     This game has not improved very much since FIFA 18. Yes there is some nice changes on the pitch such as timed shooting, but the keepers still do weird things, and has been for 4 FIFA's. Career mode has not changed other than they got champions league. What a new color scheme for it and got some new commentators. A couple of situations that proves this is a joke: a ball is near my goalkeeper, but he decides to just stand there while a striker goes at the ball, pressing a GK rush button does nothing and the striker scores. Nothing?What about last seconds of a first half and added time is almost over, the opposing goalkeeper kicks the ball to the center of the court, but accidentally kicks it into his defender and the ball goes over the goalkeeper and into the net, but you know what?While the ball was mid air back to the net the ref decided its time to whistle and the goal did not count.     Once again Career Mode and Be a Pro untouched. It’s all good and all getting the CL license, but that is not a ‘feature’ EA!     Be a Pro is untouched. Career Mode just re-skinned - and it is insulting that you claim your key focus this year was on implementing the CL into Career Mode. Are you serious?! The gazillions you make on This game annually, and the only challenge your resources are fit to match is including some official music, new gifs and a fresh skin for CL games? How can you sleep at night feeling like this alone is a job well done?! It is insulting to those who buy a new annual installment only to get more of the same game with virtually nothing new added.

    Career Mode remains shallow with no stats tracking, big teams still inexplicably field weakened sides against you, players decline after 30+ age too fast (your own cover star is 33, and by this logic from 3 years ago, he would be lucky to retain an 80+ rating!), youth players come out of the academy with no stamina, several key countries missing from scouting options (Wales can’t be scouted, even though their national team is in the game, along with all other home nations which can be scouted! How lazy can you get?!), according to your scout reports, over half of all Asian players are European-looking, and several key African countries return a majority of white players while France produces Asian players? Who tests this game before release?! Top teams still drop off during the seasons and struggle to sustain form, making winning things far too easy, still no option to customize your own manager avatar, instead being offered the exact same pre-set avatars as last year, top leagues still rarely seeing any player score much more than 20 goals in a season, stamina training nerfed so every new player in the game has no stamina and very little improvement over their career, still just a 15 season limit, still no interaction with your team or meaningful interactions with the press or the board or fans, top clubs failing to sign players into new contracts far too often for the game to remain immersive, the whole game world just static, with no rare occasion of a small non-player controlled club rising divisions and becoming a surprising force, every CPU team playing like they want to be Barca, with no teams operating a long ball tactic or anything other than pinging passes around at unrealistic pace in a manner not possible for the human player, the laziest AI programming, making the game more difficult not by programming the AI to be clever and work out ways past you that feel realistic but by increasingly the stats of even the weakest teams to play like a team of Messis and Ronaldos, scoring unrealistic goals while your team inexplicably turns to jelly, no option of a loan to buy, 90% transfer and loan talks break down, the list just goes on and on while EA sit on FUT and screech ignorance at fans who love the game and just want to see it subjected to some actual care and effort to make it worthwhile buying year in, year out.     Pretty same scripts in-game.
    Not even a useful change in any mode except kick-off match. Even the money pulling FUT has just items menu redesign.
    Career mode unchanged.
    Multiplayer modes connection is still at 3s latency.

    1 for the soundtrack.
    Worth 5-10$ as a UCL DLC.

    Moreover if I wanted to gamble i would go to a casino not on a virtual game (=FUT)

    This sums up how garbage this game is for me. Over the last 3 days, I play about two dozen games, 8 hours, to get enough to by a 15K gold pack and this is what I got - 6 players 2 rare 75, 2 common 75, a 79 GK common, and a duplicate 76 ST. Of the remaining there were 7 contracts (3 rare), CDM>CM, a manager card> MLS, and useless garbage. So, I played 8 hours and spent enough to buy anThis sums up how garbage this game is for me.     I have played FIFA 14, 15, 16, 17, and now 19. I had about 45 hours in 14, 80-90 in each of 15,16,17, and 57 hours in 19. That is about 700 games total over 370 hours between all versions.. I never got 18 because the scripting was so severe that I never could beat a professional level game with a bronze team in FUT or Manager mode. In fact, in 14 and 15 I lost several games in the final few seconds of the match and had several tied as well. I absolutely hate that scripted final second goal. I just played my first game of the night on World class and was up 1-0. It said +2:00 and it was 92:30 when the ball reach mid field from my keeper's kick. 4 passes and a shot later it is 1-1 at 92:50 and the game ends. The next game I get scored on instantly and the computer scores regularly during the game with 4-5 goals just in the last 1/4 of the game.After taking a long break I go back and score my first goal to go down 2-1 at 88'. At 90' I lose the ball and the computer loops it over 4 defenders to a guy falling backwards that kicks a high looping shot that the goal keeper misses. seconds later my guy gets tackled on the kickoff and they shoot. I lose 4-1. Next game I lose 3-1 and never had a chance. The next game I had 0 shots on goal and at 92' at the dot in the opponents box I shoot and get stopped by a slide tackle. They yellow card the player and spot the ball outside the big box on the corner. Needless to say the game ended the moment I shot which had no chance of getting in. This is only the second game I ever had 0 shots in the first 90 minutes. You could see the computer players move at 2-3 times normal animation speed every time they went to tackle so I could not even pass before they took it away.

    Another example from earlier in the week. Both teams rated around 64-65 and the result is a 6-0 loss.Both teams had 13 shots and 6 on target. I was 0 of 6 and the other team was 6 of 6 scoring goals.

    It is absolute bs that my goalkeeper makes only 50-75% of his saves and I have gone over 30 shots on target in a row that got taken down by the keeper. It is very common at pro level to see 90% of accurate shots saved. Each of the last two days I have seen my keeper get hit in the chest with a softly hit ball. fall backwards and the ball bounce away from the goal and then into as the keeper falls well into the goal.

    The good
    Licenses, great diversity in players and teams, and nice looking stadiums.

    The bad
    Player ratings are often wildly inaccurate. I have a 59 and 60 player that can outplay all but one of the other bronze players that are strikers in the English league that are English. I just went through the Silver English league CM list and the ones around 68-71 tend to be the best when looking at total stats, stat distribution, and weak foot.

    Scripting
    Some games you just cannot win. I have had multiple games where I never had a chance to get a shot in within 25 yards. Other games the defense was so pathetic I could score 3 times in a minute or two. I had one game that my loaner 94 striker got completely outmatched by a team that was a 65-66 rating. I tied a game in World Class with a 56 rated team versus a silver one and my players had negatives to their stats due to the chemistry being so bad. 4 times in squad battles I gave up a goal to a team in Amateur mode, 3 times because I got called for a foul in my box for trying to kick the ball out.

    The really bad
    FUT gambling casino. I have bought numerous gold premium packs and have never gotten one without a least 1 rare squad fitness except the infamous one I listed at the start of my post. Gold squad fitness are worthless as I see it. Over all the packs I have opened they have constituted close to 50% of my rares. I did get a 90 card in one of the 12.5K players packs. Since then, an 86. Yet, I opened 3 gold premium and 2 jumbo gold premium packs and not gotten over a 78 rare or 79 common during the day I got my 2 weekly packs this week. This is particularly painful given how little you get in coins per match.

    Coin reward scaling - Unless you are really good and/or have a top tier team you are going to often get a lower coin reward for more difficult games. The multiplier far more with difficulty level of the match. I have walked away from many matches with less than 365 coins awarded since starting World Class play. Granted, I am using a bronze team but the reward would not be much over 600 in a stellar performance and a gold team    … Expand

    Absolute scam, I would hardly call this an update. Returned the game after playing it for an hour. Nothing hardly changed aside from a copy paste shader change.

    FIFA 19 je opravdu kvalitní značkou, která zaujme velmi širokou nabídkou herních možností a licencí k nim. Liga Mistrů hraje prim, ale není to jenom o ní. FUT nebo příběhový režim jsou také moc fajn a vyššímu hodnocení brání zmíněná negativa v herní oblasti, díky nimž jsem ze zápasů neměl tak příjemný pocit, jako jsem měl loni nebo který nabízí konkurence, a to je rozhodně škoda.FIFA 19 je opravdu kvalitní značkou, která zaujme velmi širokou nabídkou herních možností a licencí k nim. Liga Mistrů hraje prim, ale není to jenom o ní.     I'm sorry ea, this year u make 3 step back, I don't care about licenses, I care about gameplay, the speed of the game is high, the pass, the shot, the movement, just to fast. .. we are in 2019 almost and instead to get close to real football, we getting an arcade game, where there is no way to build a proper counter attack or everything else.     I have nothing to say about FUT or Journey because I never play those modes and never will. Career mode is the only important mode and it's sad that they have been abandoning it for years now.

    The best way I can describe Fifa 19 is that much like previous games, it is essentially Fifa 14 with better graphics and an updated roster. Imagine paying $60 for something like that whilst games like Red Dead Redemption 2 are the same price. Meanwhile game reviewers, like the shills they are still give Fifa games 8s and 9s so things are never going to changes until they start criticizing these games.    … Expand

    Is delightful to see how EA is giving a better gameplays to fifa users but still kind of beta the movement looks weird like the uper part of the player body has a independent movement than the feet and legs and the running looks really unnatural, but they're trying hard to improve!! Atmosphere awesome!!!     FIFA 19 is fine unless you play FUT. FUT is a scam and scould not be allowed to play because of the greed EA putting into this mode. The Journey was very bad this time and Career Mode feelt the same as 18 but added CL. Overall I regret buying this game.

    From what I can see the game has been dumbed down to simpleton level and all you do now is mash buttons to advance the script. The AI does whatever the hell it wants and the collision detection / spacial coding is a shambles. I was going to buy this years iteration having not bought a fifa since 14. If only pes could compete but Konami continue to make the same daft game design decisions that prevent this.     I normally disagree with the User scores on meta critic but they are spot on with this review. Honestly besides fancy new menus and the Champions League license there is hardly any difference between this years and last years. It's a tired game and I've had enough of this series. I would appreciate more realistic collision physics, if it was actually realistic - In FIFA 19, it's nothing but a gimmick that makes the game unnecessarily frustrating, at times. This new emphasis on "more realistic" take downs and first touches also feels really flawed and lacking in it's execution. I, for one, rarely see professional players insist on taking two, three touches on the ball when they receive it in stressing situations where they need to release it quickly, and even the most skillful of players are prone to awkwardly receiving the ball in such a way that it bounces away and gets intercepted by an opponent player that's not burdened by ironically unrealistic animations that you get locked to, as the player receiving the ball. Another thing is player switching when you're playing co-op. This feature should have been improved years ago, if not a decade ago. Not only have they not improved on it, but it seems to be worse in FIFA 19 compared to past iterations in the franchise. Surely, it's possible to create a different algorithm that makes this feature more intuitive and effective?

    This version of The Journey has had a few small improvements added to it, but it's probably exactly what you expected it to be like. If you like it in past games, you'll enjoy this one as well. Nothing revolutionary here, except for allowing the player to pick and play through the careers of Alex Hunter, his sister, Kim, and Danny Williams. Overall, it's a typical, new FIFA release, with largely insignificant updates outside of Ultimate Team. In terms of gameplay, my personal impression is that FIFA 19 is slightly more slow paced than FIFA 18, and slightly more frustrating to play, due to these new features that emphasize "realism", but adds little more than a larger margin for error that occurs much more frequently in the game, than it does in real life - this seems to be a trend in their realism features. As usual, the menus look slick and stylish, and the soundtrack has a few of those classic, bangers that stick to your mind after you've logged out of the game.    … Expand

    Which leads me onto the argument of 'realism'. In my first game on FIFA 19 i saw a centre back execute an overhead kick. 10 minutes later another overhead kick by a striker. Next game, i concede another over head kick and I saw defenders and midfielders pull of an amazing array of skills which you wouldn't see in real life. FIFA 19 is FIFA Street on grass.

    Presentation and TV broadcast looks just like the real thing, you can't knock that, but to be honest it is the same as it has been since FIFA 14, just different things said by commentators and still looks great. Oh and there's FUT, the gambling game.

    If there was another football game who could afford all the licences that EA have then no one would even like FIFA, the masses continue to be blinded by the lights. (mostly children)    … Expand

    - Stadium atmospheres.

    Cons:
    - The game largely remains the same as last year.
    - Ultimate Team has been again, the entire focus of this years FIFA.
    - Career Mode was basically untouched.
    - Pro Clubs was the same.
    - They've basically charged £50 for a reskin, roster updates and updated kits.
    - Gameplay is terrible this year, the shooting is just appalling. I'm unsure if this will be fixed in a later patch.
    - They promised us new things, like Survival Mode, a brand new commentary team (which was just on the CL) to replace the current. We got none of it, or part of the promises.
    - Player Career Mode is a disaster, even though by the Journey they've proved they can make it interesting.
    - You still cannot come on as even a sub on that game mode, but you can in the Journey.
    - Customization is the same.

    Overview:
    I'm disappointed again. Another year, same game. It's been the same since FIFA 12. I don't play Ultimate Team, I'm more of a Career Mode player. I wasted my money on this, again. EA don't care about you. I've realised that this year more than any other. The wishlists for Career Mode and Pro Clubs are huge, and FIFA are just sitting on a sleeping giant and they don't care. It feels like they just want CM to disappear when it was the mode that made FIFA what it is. So much potential, but they didn't change barely anything.

    It annoys me when I see this game get anything above a 5 from reviews because it really doesn't deserve it. If you really want to play the Journey or Career Mode this year, but do not want to support EA. Buy the game second hand.

    I used to love FIFA, I have now bought the game day one every year since 1998 pre-ordering. Now I'm just giving up.    … Expand

    I never cared for that Ulcer called FUT. But my the gameplay. I play normal online seasons with Arsenal and its amazing. The gameplay is fast, smooth, well organized and so much overview of the pitch and the situations. Getting the ball back is quitte fun and passes into space both through the air and on the ground are just perfect.

    Some minor tweaks have been made. None of the bigger issues seems to be fixed - buggy referees, Kickoff-Glitch and 45min-Glitch are all still here. Along with a host of new bugs. Its disappointing that an update that cost the same as a full AAA-title introduces more bugs than it fixes.

    EA made an effort is it really worth the cost? Well no BUT this game is in no way a zero. Tons of new animations and new ball physics to go with the UCL and UEFA licences make this years game more than just a roster update

    However, the game has some problems. First of all, some of the players are really slow for their positions and that affects the fluency of the game, stopping the match's entertainment for a couple of seconds. Then, some goalkeepers did senseless mistakes and that's kind of frustrating, in online matches it's a pain in the neck. Finally, there have been minor changes in Career mode and Pro Clubs hasn't been touched.

    FIFA 19 is a good game, but EA needs to make some big changes to be the winner (by far) of the next year.    … Expand

    I have seen better games from modders and fans...EA have monopolised the licenses so any hopes for a competitor are dashed, meaning they do not have to try. AT ALL.i truly feel sorry for any developer that has to pretend to be proud of such a predatory and greedy system.

    Advice for easy improvements.

    - more customisable hairstyles
    -more commentary ( monthly patches)
    -Managerial perks/ talent tree...so every team plays different
    -update celebratsion...( jese lingard doesnt even do that celebration anymore)

    it's beyond lazy, if EA are hiring people just to pretend to work on a product for a year and simply change the tint of the menu, then hire me please i can pretend to be a developer too.

    FIFA may have the licenses, and it certainly looks pretty enough, but out on the pitch where it counts this game is not very good, it has long standing issues that have not been addressed. PES has been the better game for football purists for the last few years and nothing has changed this year.

The game is what you'd expect "football at it's current pinnacle", has it got all the bells and whistles? no.     The movement and first touch of the players is a lot more fluid and feel the overall realistic approach of 50/50 challenges has been taken into account.

    Now, the campaign I'm a fan of, did the story need more work? Yes, however it's still something you can enjoy and I doubt any of us were waiting a modern day Hitchcock story.

    FUT, FUT, FUT. Guess what you can throw heat at FIFA and EA games as much as you like. what the problem we need to face the most is? players. If the players could sit on their hands, stop purchasing credits we may stop this practice altogether. The problem is though, just like war this will never happen as mankind will always find a cheap way to get a leg up.

    If anything should be raised, it should be the sheer disrespect to Mile Jedinak's glorious beard being robbed of an appearance in the game.    … Expand

    1 = UCL was in PES but nobody cared.

    This game is not an upgrade but a new layout for FUT gambling addiction. That EA has managed to spread in the youngsters and children. I loved Pro club.....dead. Loved seasons.....nobody cares (since its real madrid in every other match).

    I only say one thing to the people who are really open to talk about the difference in good and bad in each game. PES and FIFA. This used to be a war. We all here, lived it. Through the trenches of god forsaken PES lobby and FIFA bad match making. Both of these titles are missing steps to be great again. but the only difference is FIFA doesn't need to change, and PES has to change a lot from being good to be great.     it is actually amazing that an organization like Fifa which promote "Fair Play" allow its name to be associated with an organization known for its greedy and manipulative tactics regardless of the age of its customers. I guess their values are only used to decorate their executive office walls and have no place in the real world.

    No change to career mode (the only mode I care about) and gameplay has taken a major step backwards. Players run like they are cripples, defence AI is non existent, cpu defenders have magnetic tractor beams and oh dear, SCRIPTING just got a whole lot worse. But I suppose the player faces look real and the grass colour is authentic. The box cover looks ok and the sun is shining. These are the only positives you’ll find in this game.    … Expand

    You need to understand your customers, and from what I'm seeing online is that the majority are pretty pissed off that you've just about **** on everyone that plays manager mode (which is likely over 80% of FIFA players).

    It is poor game in gameplay aspects. Really feel so bad the players moves like they are like a pool. It is not football soccer, it is just a game like mario kart games just for fun but not consider a good soccer game.

    Fluid and impressive. The game play is a huge change for the franchise and at last the players are free during the match. If you try to play it like FIFA 18 you're in for a big surprise. The Champions League and other new leagues are professionally implemented but it's clear that FIFA is in need to review the commentators.     Major improvements to gameplay over last year, with great FUT additions. The fact that the game is noticeably harder is also awesome as it will reward those who practice and adapt.

    The 0/10 scores are cancerous... and ruin metacritc. I don't think any game can be a 0 can it?

    Amazing gameplay, all footballer characters are reflected on the field. Great Champions League and Europa Leauge atmosphere. More realistic and More exciting!

    With initial excitement having died down a few months after the game's release, FIFA 19 stands exposed for what it is: another recycled iteration of a franchise that sorely needs refreshing. Both off the pitch and on it, FIFA 19 is a hollow experience, yet another broken promise and a slap in the face of what we have come to expect from good game development. To truly compete in the gaming arena, FIFA must lace its boots and pull up its socks if it is to achieve what it too lazily sets out to each year.
