    Unfortunately for a finished game and not a beta version, this game has too many bugs. I honestly don't care for the ultimate team and multiplayer components as much and it is obvious that EA doesn't care for customers like me.
    In Career mode, if you switch off the first transfer window, which is the only way to ensure that you get accurate team rosters, the Bosman/free agency signing    Unfortunately for a finished game and not a beta version, this game has too many bugs. I honestly don't care for the ultimate team and multiplayer components as much and it is obvious that EA doesn't care for customers like me.
    In Career mode, if you switch off the first transfer window, which is the only way to ensure that you get accurate team rosters, the Bosman/free agency signing system breaks. So if you then sign a pre-contract with a player in the January Transfer window to join in the next Summer, the player doesn't join. This is just one such instance of a basic game breaking flaw that is impossible to have been missed in testing. If EA testers can miss this bug, then it is blatantly obvious that they don't even test their Career mode. Adding a stupid animated signing sequence, which gets old after the first 10 times you do it doesn't matter if the transfer system is itself broken.
    Oh and if you add people to your transfer list, no one wants to sign them. No reviewer manages to catch these bugs, so it is obvious that the reviewers don't really play career mode. Unfortunately, EA just doesn't care for me as a customer and this product is just not for someone who like single player gaming.
    Well people kept telling me i was too old for games, but now that publishers don't want to make games for me anymore, i might as well start saving money.    … Expand

    bad game, horrible controls, meaningless markings, every team is good enough to defeat you, matches on placements and games that FIFA loves to do, always when I need a victory or not to lose to such a weak team, everything goes wrong , any ball that I kick does not enter and it is enough a finalization of the opponent that is goal.
    I can not take this game seriously, the gameplay already    bad game, horrible controls, meaningless markings, every team is good enough to defeat you, matches on placements and games that FIFA loves to do, always when I need a victory or not to lose to such a weak team, everything goes wrong , any ball that I kick does not enter and it is enough a finalization of the opponent that is goal.

    The game has a lot of problems with it, for a game which holds all the licenses and all the strong playing cards in their hand they sure don't really make a serious effort do they?     - Same old commentary with all the same old rehashed comments from many years ago
    - Many leagues missing Chinese being the main concern for me
    - Half-assed attempt with some leagues such as Serie A which doesn't even have its proper name
    - Hardly any new stadiums added to the game that we would care about
    - Barely any new faces added into the game leagues like SPFL, Eredivisie, Brazilian league, French League, Serie A, Bundesliga, and La Liga completely ignored by EA
    - Relates to above, game only focuses on EPL
    - Career mode has been given minimal attention to improving it which is very sad
    - Lack of new modes
    - Continued support to FUT which proves EA only care about earning even more dirty money which they don't deserve
    - Microtransactions are still in the game
    - No mod support thus we are stuck with this terrible base game unless EA actually do something to improve it themselves
    - Terrible music playlist!!
    - Bugs which leave modes broken
    - Finally barely any new features to make this game worth £39.99-49.99

    Just so I don't sound too negative the goods I think are -
    + Slightly improved graphics and lighting
    + Most players that have had new scans look good
    + Some of the minor changes to career mode are welcome, but still not enough
    + The game for me feels less B.S. with regards to the scripting
    + Gameplay flows well when it works

    I think that is everything I could ever think of, I'm going to try my best to get a refund for this game I'd suggest if its possible for some of you to do the same you should.    … Expand

    DEFENCE
    Okay, so first off, yes the defending in Fifa 18 is broken I can only assume it will be balanced at some point. In a way, you could say defending is more realistic I.E. you can no longer just sprint headlong at Messi and get get ball back %90 of the time. you know have to play defense patiently with good positioning BUT!! it then becomes just a matter of time before one of you A.I. just falls asleep, leaving someone wide open in the box. This year offensive players just react so much more sharply to 50/50 balls (a complete reversal from last year) so even when you make a perfectly timed tackle, a lot of the time the attacker will just run onto the ball whilst the defender is still recovering from tackling.
    At least the A.I. miss some shots this year or else every game would end 15 - 10.

    OVERALL 2/10

    OFFENCE
    REJOICE, for it is better than last year! Shooting is the same, well basically the same but you can score from outside the box much more often and I no long feel like %99 of my shots get blocked by a defending players ridiculous reaction speed. The angles on through balls are glorious this year, truly life like (life-like?). Great passers still make obscenely poor passes WAYYYY too often but hey, something improved in Fifa!

    OFFICIATING

    Well let see... I played for 8 hours today and have had a total of 3... yes 3 free-kicks in 15ish matches.
    and I just rage quit because I got a straight red for a basic mistimed slide tackle so it's crap.

    That's incredible that EA change the gameplay of FIFA 18. Now, anyone can put a goal to anyone, even the players who trained a lot. for playing this game, you don't need skills, you need chance, that's all.

    Not a huge improvement from FIFA 17. I'm more of an offline player, as I have never been a fan of Ultimate Team so my review will lie solely on The Journey and Career Mode. Let's start with The Journey, this was the biggest improvement for me, however could've been better. The story was average at best, everything was Adidas in the gear (similar to UFC 2 with Reebok) which wasn't the bestNot a huge improvement from FIFA 17. I'm more of an offline player, as I have never been a fan of Ultimate Team so my review will lie solely on The Journey and Career Mode. Let's start with The Journey, this was the biggest improvement for me, however could've been better. Then this leads me to Career Mode. They brought up the new transfer negotiations and made it seem huge. As I originally predicted, this got tedious extremely quick. Besides that, it's the exact same as 17. No real improvements, especially considering the wishlist for that mode has always been in-depth, and some of the ideas people have are amazing.

    Besides the negative, the play of the game is amazing. Defending got a lot better, players actually make runs, and overall the flow of the game feels extremely nice. I just with EA would focus on the offline modes as much as they focus on Ultimate Team.    … Expand

    respecto a jugar Offline es algo mas tranquilo, pero la fuerza de este juego reside en el online respecto a su competencia, matchmaking mucho mas rapido, mas estabilidad...

FIFA 18 no trae novedades algunas, solo material del genial 17, y también continua con la historia de Alex Hunter, lo único divertido que destaco de este título es el modo carrera, Los tiros libres se volvieronFIFA es unos de los juegos futbolisticos más reconocidos a nivel mundial, con títulos divertidos (como 13, 14, 15) pero desde el 16 en adelante se tornaron repetitivas las cosas. Still can't switch quick tactics when not during active play.

    Most people in online seasons just pick Real Madrid and cheese with Bale and Ronaldo outrunning every defender.

    Attacking consists of mostly luck it seems, as balls either go your way all game or they don't. That's probably the scripting that a lot of reviews on here mention.

    Overall a big let down. I'll check out what 19 is bringing to the table, but i doubt i'll be buying that one either judging by how little improves each year.    … Expand

    The pacing is stodgy, the story is frustratingly slow, the defending is near-impossible, and the game feels incredibly scripted, especially offline. Licenses, music, graphics, and other less important features have been improved, but the gameplay left this user incredibly frustrated the entire time.

    Unfortunately EA made the same mistakes again. There are too many scripted scenes, where you have barely no chance to get the ball or to avoid goals while playing against the CPU. Sometimes the script makes your goalkeeper and the defence line ridiculously weak only to change the result of the game. This is and was frustrating. The presentation is still great.     For all FIFA fans game will be good but for most of the gamers PES wins all. I know about licences but it takes 2 mins on PC. Game not worth the money at all. Selling it after 2 hours of gameplay. Disgusted....

    FIFA has been consistent throughout the years of being a great game to being one of my worst games. In an attempt to combine mediocre gameplay to a decent story campaign. It just doesn't meet the standards of "fun". It's clutterd, and boring. Same game since FIFA 14. Any the ratings get lower, and lower each year. Notice the pattern?

    Fifa 18, has the same formula that the others games, but adding some thing, that make better the game but no up to its price ($60).
    For me, an incomplete game. It can be an 7 if his cost be near to $20, a 9 if they take more time to the development of the game.

    I think this may be my most hated FIFA. I have loved FIFA every year, but this year they have changed a lot in terms of game play. Players feel clunky and hard to maneuver, defense is made a lot harder to control than in previous years, AI is an utter tragedy as well as mostly unresponsive and unhelpful, and shooting is still ridiculously unlogical (even though it was a lot worse on firstI think this may be my most hated FIFA. I have loved FIFA every year, but this year they have changed a lot in terms of game play. Players feel clunky and hard to maneuver, defense is made a lot harder to control than in previous years, AI is an utter tragedy as well as mostly unresponsive and unhelpful, and shooting is still ridiculously unlogical (even though it was a lot worse on first release but changed with update). The two main criticisms of the ones I named above are AI and shooting. Regarding AI, I understand that most of the game play should be controlled by the user, but in some situations the AI should compensate for minimal errors carried out in the flow of game play. Some of the situations I have noticed are such that a pass that is maybe half a foot off target may often make it is as if the player completely ignores the pass altogether as if he isn't apart of the play or another situation such as an attacking player has beaten a user controlled defender but runs directly into the path of an AI controlled defender and this defender does nothing to stop the attacker. Shooting is the other criticism that is unrealistic at times. Players should not be able to do a complete 180 and be able to get perfect contact every time or be able to pull off unrealistic wonder shots from ridiculous angles with pressure on them. The only reason I am giving this game a 3 instead of a 0 is because all of the available game modes, graphics, and overall presentation of the game are just as great if not better than any other FIFA in the past. If it says anything, I have played FIFA for about 10 years and this is the first time I have wanted to stop playing or looked into playing PES as an alternate to FIFA.… Expand

    The new defensive system in this game just ruins the whole FIFA experience for me. EA is focusing too much on realism that they forget to focus on the fun about the game. FIFA 18 is a downgrade from FIFA 17. They're getting worse with each game release. Though the graphics is better than the previous, everything else is a downgrade for me.
    Probably the worst FIFA game to date!

The scripting, the awful defending system, the ridicolous and random nature of player stats, I'm struggling to even begin to describe how awful this game is. Theres only one thing i can thank EA for, and that is ensuring that i no longer part with my hard earned money for sub par development. II've been playing fifa on playstation since '09 and for me Fifa 18 is the worst of the bunch. I've seen some gameplay footage of fifa 19 already and it just looked like a lazy rehash of Fifa 18. I wont be buying anymore EA games for a long while, they are up there with the cancers of the gaming industry like Activision. Fifa in my opinion is all about milking the younger generation into spending money on ultimate team packs and its pathetic how much some people spend sometimes to have any real chance of getting decent players for their team.     Literal una basura lleno de fallos le e puesto mas de 300 horas y en lugar de mejorar mi experiencia solo es mas asquerosa en especial cuando solo elijes a un jugador (para el modo carrera de jugador) ya que literal los compañeros no dan ni un paso bueno solo se quedab como inutiles y uno como Delantero tiene que ur a bajar para robar el balón por que los defensas no hacen ni una entrada

    Played Fifa since 1998. I remember the times that you can literally pass through the defense. When I mean through, it is literally through the defensive player. Defending in this game worse than that kind of bug. A.I defense is sleeping like they never played football in their life.
    Scripting is another known issue with Fifa, but this time it is really unbearable.

It's a mockery of it's players, and tbh it makes me furious. I will not buy another FIFA game until they remove scripting/momentum.     Defending is basically a spectating period of the game because if you do anything else than use your teammate to pressure you will run past him a meter or two to the side.     If you try a quick turn (for example fake shot or pass) when attack make sure no one is close because the player needs at least 2 seconds before he starts to move again. Shooting and goalkeeping is ridiculous, get within 30m and fire a shoot and a rock would be better in goal. Even the tiniest players has huge physical advantage compare to the strongest when tackling to win the ball. Obstruction is a absolute joke, can even described how bad it is.

    EA says every year they improved FIFA, but only visual and how "real" the game is. The game is beautiful, no discussion there. To be fair, the game is a decent game compare to reality. But reality as a game sucks. I doubt any of the developers have played football in their life as so much unnatural things happens (such as obstructing the player 40m from the ball and nothing happens).

    TL-DR; Defending is garbage because you have to be at master level to do anything yourself. Attacking is also garbage goalkeepers are useless and walcott easily tackles Ibrahimovic so that he falls. Obstruction isnt a word in EA vocabulary.

    Solemnly based this on FUT. If you want to play online, then this definitely isnt the game for you.    … Expand

The artificial intelligence of the players is so bad and makes the game pretty much unplayable even for someone who plays 800+ games a year, It's like they don't even test the game before they release it.     Why do we keep coming back for more? It’s really only a lack of any real quality competition from other developers in the football simulation arena and EA sports know that so they continue to produce a sub par game and we the hopeless dreamers continue to buy this mess each year in hopes that finally we will get the game we deserve for paying £50+ every year for as long as we can remember.

    If you’re gonna buy this game, do so with very low expectations so you’re not disappointed. Other than that you could try PES but don’t be fooled by reviews, that game is a mess too.    … Expand

The only viable method of play is to collect fast, small, skill move players. The Kane, Ibra and Costa style players are made to feel like Sunday League players. A game that is supposed to be tactical is pointless when there is only one way to play.

    These balance issues are compounded by incredibly aggressive player fatigue, poor AI positioning for defenders, goalkeepers who fumble way too often, overpowered finesse shots and a player selection system that picks the wrong player when defending about 25% of the time. Selection is made even worse through a series of scenarios where swapping player is literally locked out to you to ensure the opponent will not be punished, such as high headed clearances.

    Overall it’s a big enough drop in quality to not recommend the game.    … Expand

    While playing moves are more realistic, and 4k graphics are enjoyable, EA servers are often down, forcing you to re-login with lots of latency.

    Sadly, the game is also geared around in-game purchases to advance more quickly, and as a casual gamer, you won't be able to buy any high key players without either making huge in game purchases, or playing for literally years.

    There is no defending, literally it just doesnt happen, maybe at the start of the game you can put in some tackles but anytime after the 60th minute? Nope be prepared for the opposition to just walk through your defence while players jump out of the way when you press O. Players you dont control actually dont play football, just juts move around, they dont tackle, move into space or even hold a line and you will often have your R/LB just run behind your CB to keep the opposition forward onside.

    Then the biggest fix of them all the fifa ultimate team, yet another farce. Offering these fake packs, while ill admit ive fallen for, ive added enough in to buy well over 150 pack (although this is including coins from games) and the best rated player i have got in one? 81 rated. It is nothing but a fix, from the people I know playing the only ones pulling decent players are those who are pumping money in year after year, its not the lotto system EA would have you believe but just a tab on how much money you put in from which they start to release slightly better players after you hit certain amounts of payments. Want to pull Ronaldo or Messi? Hell even want to pull a half decent player rated over 84 that might sell for some coins? Yeh thats only gonna happen after putting in about 500 pound over the last few years. Its an actual pyramid scheme, the people at the top are shown to get the best rewards to encourage those at the bottom to keep pumping money in to get to the top but the draw is fixed and you need to give EA more and more if you want to get anything half decent.

    Your up against in this squad battle to which depsite being advertsied as you playing similar UT you just come up against teams with both Ronaldo, Messi and a host of others. Despite not having a team close to one team today I was pitted against Ronaldo, Messi, Henry, Ronaldinho, Neymar, Modric, Kroos, Umtitti and Varane (for reference the best player i have is rated 86).

    This game is nothing more than frustrating, its not fun i dont get enjoyment and its often turned off after no more than one or two games.

    Really dont bother wasting your money on this game, its broken, perhaps after a patch or two EA might get the finger out and fix it but I highly doubt these money grabbing a**holes will.    … Expand

    Not worth the upgrade. Still has all the same problems as last years version. A certain other game by Konami has raised the bar now and EA can't match it where it counts, on the pitch. The Journey is like a mediocre tv series with a bit of gameplay interupting now and again. Excessive load times in career mode. Bring back the virtual pro EA.

Which is tough when no player is near the opposition. Yet the computer is up your a$$ the whole time (playing on professional level). Keepers are awful. The opening intro game I won 7-6. Says it all. I read reviews saying they’ve made it more 'Hollywood'. Focusing on attack. Nearly everything you hit goes in, players can’t tackle and keepers might as well not be there. Plus.. it’s slow.. so slow. I have the game settings maxed for speed.. it’s still super slow. I love on Pro Evolution 2017 the the fast breaks, pinging the ball about the pitch, drilling low hard crosses in for the strikers to arrive late and poke home. FIFA18 lacks all feeling. When I unlocked the trophy for scoring from a drilled cross i didn't even realise it was a drilled cross it was so slow and 'floaty'. Without a doubt the worst FIFA in a decade. I'll be opening my wallet again far too soon to purchase Pro Evolution 2018.… Expand

The reality of the user reviews compared to critics reviews, rubber stamps the obvious fact that you guys merely re-word the same old reviews without actually exploring the game yourselves and you are obviously too worried about ramifications of negative reviews from EA & Sony. There is little point in detailing the obvious flaws of the game; there are too many to list and we all know what they are. I have enjoyed FIFA for years , some versions more than others but I am shocked at the blatant laziness by EA to re-deploy the same themes & templates in different guises. Its almost as though they have dared to see how little effort they could put in whilst taking their loyal followers money. But the real culprits here are the critics - EA have just mugged us all off but the critics should have done the right thing and appraised the game for what it really is. EA will no doubt e laughing - they can clearly put out any old sh*t and they will still be lauded by the very publications that owes their articles to they readers andante their sponsors.     As a seasoned player I'm disappointed with the way the game is developing: gameplay decline + seemingly no effort put in testing and no effort in making simple things comfortable. All the attention and effort is being put in bright lights, posters, and making people slot machine addicts, sorry I mean: big Ultimate Team players. Which in itself WOULDN'T have been an issue for me, if the substance of the game wasn't neglected like it currently is.     Since 2004 I buy the new Fifa every year. Fifa 18 was seriously the worst version I have ever played. The gameplay didn't feel right and was totally out of balance as well as the AI. Because of this the game was sometimes literally unplayable.

At the same time ur opponent team become crazy - they can hit long shot goal from 40m with a player with 60 long shot stat. And its not just random moments, based on composure of a players or usual mistake chance - its a periods of time - not single moments, that proves its not random at all. This game have same bugs years and years. It looks like developers just didnt test it, bcoz i dont know how to explain such a dumb things in career mode, like its impossible to grow balanced young player. Even if u'll have 90 overall youngsters, they'll be total imbalanced. Some their stats will be 99, and many others (like stamina, strenght, composure, aggression etc) will be 40.     I've been playing FIFA since FIFA 03 and back then a new game made sense because you couldn't download an update. The game has seen no valuable improvements since FIFA 14 and I could even argue as far back as FIFA 10.

    Worst FIFA I've ever played for decades. I was playing FUT Mode since it began. This year it's so obvious, they've made this game "Pay to win". We're not a fool to spend hundreds of dollars to get a decent squad. They're pointing out clearly, pay more than 60 bucks otherwise GTFO of FUT Mode. I'm saying FO to all who developed this money based game. Thanks for ruining a legendary series.

    Unbelievable how Online Seasons work. It's ridiculous how much the game will alter your players when you take the lead just to let the other player live. That's very unfair. Also, unbelievable that you can't mute the opponents online. This game is trash and I will play it no longer

    The game is again interrupting the matches so hard, it´s terrible. I remember it wasn´t like this in Fifa 12. At least not recognizable for me. I recently played it again and it feels so much better then the at least last 4 games.

The goalkeepers are a complete joke , and the defending a complete mess( actually there is no defense). The player faces during cutscenes looks like plastic puppets( they are too shinny) and another horrible thing are the the nets.     My final advice is to all of you: do not buy Fifa this year as you will regret it , and give Pes a chance even if you are a Fifa fanboy.
    PS: I am neither a Fifa or Pes fanboy. I just want a decent Football game!
    Update on my review after all the patches and over 200 games in FUT. After first few days i sold my game as i stated above but i decided to give it a try again after it have been patched. The game is an absolute mess. Scripting is everywere, mostly in FUT ( It is less visible in seasons though). It is no point playing FUT anymore. it doesent matter if you have good or bad players as scripting decides who wins the game. I can see the outcome of the match after the first 10 min of the game.( same scenario all the time). Scripting is there especially whenever you need desperatly 1 or 3 points to promote or relegate, but not only. I must admit that even all my wins are because of scripting( i cand see the opposing player struggeling to play) same as i do when it happens to me. The most frequent scenario is when a very weak opponent scores a goal in the first 10 min of the game, then until the 80 min you high pressure him , have taken over 20 shoots on goal and his goalie it is like superman or you hit the cross bar 3 or 4 times, and at the 80th min of the game he scores a scripted second goal.
    in conclusion FUT it is a complete mess and a disgrace and not fun at all. The only way that Fifa can be played decently, after it has been patched, it is multiplayer at the same console or at online season.    … Expand

I've been playing it on legendary, I already adjusted all the sliders and am using a set up someone recommended. Or defensive players I'm not controling literally moving out of the way to open up scoring chances for attackers. In other situations you have pretty much no control. It generally ends up feeling like not matter what you do, outcomes are changed depending on what result the game aims for. Started the journey and didn't even stick with it for more than half an hour before getting bored with it. Never played oline so I can't assess that, this is just too horrible a game for me to bother. And of course the usually complaints about just generally bad gameplay, horrendous controls and outdated looking graphics.
    I'm guessing it's all about the hardcore addicts spending massive amounts of money on the online features, never actually looked at those so that part doesn't really into my opinion of this game too much. First EA game i bought in a long while, and the last. The usual quality you can expect from them.
