Albeit negative reviews from angry kids, this game is fun! I had over 15 hours of play time where I enjoyed myself and had tons of funny created moments with other players. PVP is not mandatory which is amazing!
Sure, the engine is dated and there's a bit of uncanny feel to it, but trust me you will have fun!

This is one of my favorite games of the year. Yes its extremely buggy, but when it works, its a blast to play. Rated it a 10 to counter-balance the obviously dishonest slew of people review-bombing it. They haven't played it, a lot of them. If you like Bethesda games, you can deal with bugs. As they go along and improve this game its going to be amazing. I'd probably give it about an 8.5

I'm still going strong several months after release. I've played Fallout 76 far more than any other Fallout game. There were no doubt some issues at launch, but the game has taken way more abuse than is justified. The updates since launch have added a lot of cool new features and ways to play.

I'm looking forward to the new additions coming out throughout the year.

Great game to play alone or with friends. This is not fallout 5. This is a new way to play fallout while retaining all the immersive elements. It's a little bit grindy but in a good way; it's a fallout playground that you can expore. They are updating and improving the game constantly so its worth checking out.

Nothing but smooth sailing on PC through the BETA and now on the release. Got my digital copy through Bethesda, didn't need to enter a code and was in having fun right away. The game is a lot of fun, exactly how I wanted a Fallout game to be and only getting better as they resolve the outstanding bugs.

No NPCs was known well in advance of launch and surprisingly works well for 76. It fits into the story. If you're big into fallout lore, felt fallout 4 was crowded, and enjoy survival/base building then this game will be good for you. Game was a total mess on release and deserved the bad ratings, now I most say its one of the best games I played yet, good work they did but there you see again rushing releases never a good thing, bad rating keeps for all the life of the game, now user score of 2.8 for a game which is now for sure a solid 8 or 9.

The game is really really good. The sad part about this, is that people are scoring the game without trying it, out of pure hate for it being online and having multiplayer, or because it's not Fallout 5, like they were expecting. I'm in Fallout groups in Facebook, and I have seen first hand boycott organizations to throttle Fallout 76.

The fact that this game hasn't any NPC is great because it boosts that autistic feeling so much. No npc + rare players meetings - that thing leaves you alone in this world. Fantastic!

Empty, yet full. These 3 words have echoed in all fallout games, and this does not stop in 76. The combat system uses a refined version of fallout 4s, Absence of npcs forces the game to make intuitive decisions when making quests, keeping the game fresh and new.and the endless amount of lore keeps the player constantly engaged.

But that's not the game or Bethesda, that's just online games in general. Bethesda is committed to continuously improving the game. Great game, great gameplay, great graphics, awesome new creatures, the game feels very lively, and does not indicate that all new games going forward will be multiplayer or online. Don't trust these negative reviews, sour people are going to be sour. And you can do it with friends. The game is PVP optional, people won't just run up to you and start killing you. You won't get sniped by another player you never see coming. Not that death is a huge burden, either. But those who choose to PVP can.

Graphically the game is superior to previous versions of fallout. Colors are vibrant, darks are dark. Using the Pipboy flashlight is a must.

Quests can be ignored, but following them grants great rewards in EXP and items. Just moving through the map will uncover new quests and they can all be tracked through the display.

After a few hours you find yourself moving through a nuclear wasteland encountering many deadly things while you try to find items to better yourself and stay alive. You keep pushing for the next town or next find, because you don't know what could be there. But once you find it, and kill it, you know you will find a great reward.

My only complaint is that I am going to have to work and sleep instead of play the game.

    - "Microtransaction Cash Grab" yeah... but it's all cosmetic...
    - "Its not fallout i remember" because it's not.. it portrays the FO world better than their other games imo

    Now for the actual review.
You basically get to play 2 different mode in this game, solo & co-op. I personally enjoy both for different reasons. Solo, i get to listen to all the story. Yes there are stories. The quests are, in my opinion, even better than Fallout 4. I played the full beta and at the release, I dropped 16 straight hours (thanks to the GF for grabbing me food) and didn't even feel like I finished the story I wanted to. I haven't had engaging stories like this from a video game in a long time that kept me immersed for 16 hours. I'm at work now and I can't wait to get back and find out what happened in the story.

Now co-op is a whole different story. It opens you to goofing off with your friends. You run face first into any challenge and start doing events rather than quests. You start capturing workbench and territories and join group PVP events such as "civil war reenactment" or play who can craft the better base. When your friend is downed by a horde of melee supermutants and you lob a grenade in the middle because you're an **** Hilarity ensues.

Also, I've sank probably over 40 hours into this game now if we're including the BETA and I didn't encounter a single game breaking bug. I was disconnected once (about 12AM EST at launch) and was able to instantly rejoin, and a few t-pose scorch. If that's unplayable to you, then idk. Good luck finding a game without bugs. Even my horse in RDR2 was running halfway into the ground at one point.

This isn't Fallout 5. It was never supposed to be. Instead, it's the perfect mixture of Bethesda open-world gameplay and multiplayer elements. It's everything you and your friends talked when you sat around watching each other play Elder Scrolls or Fallout games. It's a completely unique experience.

It's not like Rust, it's not Fallout 4.5, and it's amazing.

The lore is deep, the gameplay mechanics are satisfying, and the exploration is unmatched. The map is gigantic, and filled with places and stories. This game is extremely immersive, and I don't want to rush through it, which inevitably happens when playing in a group of four I think. In fairness, this game has some bugs, a lot of QoL issues, and has yet to reach its full potential. Considering it's a persistent online game, that's likely to change. That said, even now, it's a hell of a lot closer to a 10 than it is to a 0.

Fallout 76 plays like a real Bethesda RPG title and I think its one of the rare Multiplayer-Singleplayer games out there. Grieving is none-existent right now.

People who are used to the Fallout singleplayer games might have problems with this title though. The only reason for this is, that there are no human npcs. All humans are players. If you don't embrace that it might feel "empty". Thats an illusion though. Because of people being upset about it, it might have been a bad decision by Bethesda to do it like that, but the game is amazing. A real singleplayer game done in multiplayer and its full of content. Just no babbling human skinned NPCs, but its still story rich and huge, full of stuff to do.

Just make sure you like to play with others, this is the biggest part of the fun in this world. I can't stop playing alone too, though.

Now, the game still has its fair share of bugs. My current rating is a 7/10, with fixed bugs it could go up to 9/10.
The 10/10 has to be done to counter all the 0 score rating from people that haven't even played the game...

Some more information to correct the misinformation out there:
"no plot" - The game has no visible human NPC but there are plenty of stories. quest (including a main quest) factions and events. The story of points of interest is often told through envirounmental design which I enjoy a lot, you can see they put a lot of effort into that. There are also robot npc to talk to and a lot of flavor notes and holo tapes.

"Bad graphics" - IMO the game has better aesthetics than fallout 4, the world is more colorful than ever.

"bad microtransactions" - you can get visual only clothes and paints and objects for your camp, no gameplay benefits at all.

Now, I would have prefered New Vegas 2 as much as the next guy, but you cannot expect that this game took away from that. Bethesda has multiple teams and is very much able to work on several projects at once.

Tens of hours of exploring, beautiful soundtrack and audio (the best of all Fallouts in my humble opinion), and option to play with your friends together - which you can, but do not have to, use.

The strong points in my opinion:
    - huge world filled with lore, with typical Bethesda attention to detail
    - the locations are no longer linear, expect underground cavern systems, even buildings are often rich
    - the music and sound, the best in the series (great with headphones)
    - the RPG character building with selectable perks, that can be reconfigured at any time, so you can adapt your character to your momentary style of play

    Neutral:
    - multiplayer, coop and PVP. I am a solo player mostly, so for me - it works, has some quirks.
    - the graphics engine - looks like upgraded Fallout 4 one, works for me
    - home building system - again similar to Fallout 4, but with limited number of objects that can be placed (too low for me)
    - VATS - now does not slow time, but I use it often, With proper perks it works great.

    Bad:
    - bugs, but again, its typical of Bethesda, they will get it fixed. Nothing major though, like 1 of 50 quests is broken, stuck in UI or game freezes like once in 4 hours, that sort of things
    - inventory limits - forget unlimited storage in your base at it was if Fallout 4, and the limit is too small for me. Bethesda promised to increase it, but how and when is unknown.
    - the Atom shop (microtransactions) is overpriced - its completely optional and for visual things only, and you can earn the microcurrency ingame (slowly), but the price is like 15 bucks for a Vault Tec power armor paint job??? Come on...

For the sake of fairness - I play the game mostly solo, and I enjoy the tranquil exploration with occasional fights, I like to hoard materials and build my base, craft my weapons and armor. There are complains about missing NPCs, but hey, its post-apocalyptic world, every human is dead (except for players, that got out of Vault 76), and the events that led to this - why the world is like it is - are for everyone to discover in the game story and locations.

Overall - I love the game, and I have a very high respect for all the people, who put it together, with love. It has its quirks, but for game this huge? I can tolerate that and I believe Bethesda will get it gradually sorted.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The more time that I spend in the game, the better it comes across.

The AI of the "Scorched" is REALLY sweet! They will turn and grab a weapon off of a fallen "ally" and use that to beat or shoot you to death if they are weaponless or have a worse off weapon. They also use scenery to crouch hide and use cover.

I wish they would tweak the respawn rate a little bit, clearing an area should mean no respawns for a short time, maybe 5 to 10 minutes? It can be a pain to clear a spot, start looting and begin to scrap items, only to have everyone respawn and it's another big fight.

The MP aspect is really solid. Being able to voice chat and give orders/direction to real people is very solid! Most of the people that i have ran into have been friendly, helpful and worked with me, even though we weren't "teamed" up.

The scrapping system is really solid, where you scrap weapons and are sometimes gifted with new upgrade/mod schematics. I'm not finding any armor pieces, which sucks, because that is the only area that I am seeing no mods for and I'm unsure how to "level" up to building newer armor types, as a result. They really should consider adding in a handful of "mindless" NPC Raiders like in previous Fallout Games with some armor to loot, maybe a few BOS or Enclave Troops too. Not story giving NPCs, just patrolling groups that either ignore or attack you, based upon what group you are affiliated with. Give us some ARMOR to loot!

I like how the game is somewhere between Survival and Hard mode from Fallout 4 as well. It's not to difficult to deal with, but it is getting difficult to find enough food and water... I really need to get into building my own camp for cooking, boiling water and someday make a water purifier!

Graphically, it's utterly beautiful. It's similar to FO4, but with all the best looking graphics mods off of Nexus.

There's still much more for me to explore and find in this game, but I am greatly enjoying it, seeing less lag than I do on this site! (People having lag could have lower end PCs or poor Internet Connections, I would look at those as causes before blaming the game.)

I will probably update this review, if that can be done, adding in more info. For now? They did a fantastic job.

There are bugs but nothing game breaking. Please tell me a game in the last 4 years that doesn't have bugs at launch that later get fixed.

All of these impetuous negative reviews are ridiculous.

Base building, survival, exploration, no NPC’s..... Perfect... Paradise for the introverted. Don’t know what everybody is dripping about...

So utterly disappointing and flawed in every possible way… The first few hours, most of it can be ignored, and occasionally the flaws can be forgotten, but only briefly before they come storming back to the forefront. An awful, boring, empty, pointless experience. There is, however, a glimmer of hope. It's worth mentioning that there has already been a Bethesda title that was equally as unimpressive: The Elder Scrolls Online - but looking at it now, it has transformed into one of the best MMOs out there. There's always the hope the Fallout 76 develops the same way and becomes something special, but for now, that seems impossible. It's a world away from that.

Fallout 76 isn't your typical fallout experience. You don't have NPCs or dialogue, but instead get real players that should fill this void - that ultimately fails to do so. It does some things right, but as of now I cannot recommend getting this game as long as it stays a broken and boring mess that it is right now.

Fallout 76 is the series’ Freshman introduction into the world of online, multiplayer games. As a result, we are experiencing all of the awkwardness and clumsiness associated with that season of life. It is imperfect and a bit uncomfortable, but I see opportunity for Fallout 76 to be more than it presently it - to be a truly great, rich Fallout experience.
