Awesome, game in the Fallout tradition. Looking forward to the DLC as an addition to the game now fixes and unfinished pieces. New settlement mechanics is a very good new feature set that will be hopefully improved upon.

i just created this metacritic account just to write a short review for this game bc some of these reviews on here are ridiculous. im referring to every single one that rates this game under a five. I will agree with almost everything they say in their reviews to a certain extent but it in no way justifies a 0 score. the game isnt completely broken as that kind of score would imply. Ii just created this metacritic account just to write a short review for this game bc some of these reviews on here are ridiculous. im referring to every single one that rates this game under a five. I will agree with almost everything they say in their reviews to a certain extent but it in no way justifies a 0 score. the game isnt completely broken as that kind of score would imply. I myself have been thoroughly enjoying this game and would recommend buying it if you enjoy these types of games. my only complaints are the abysmal framerate drops that will hopefully be addressed in future updates and the underwhelming dialogue system that has been dumbed down significantly from previous games. as far as graphics and animations go i give it a pass. The only real improvement over previous entries is a little more detail in textures and of course the 1080p update. The only wow factor that makes the graphics pop for me personally is the lighting effects. I noticed nobody mentioned the absence of an in game brightness adjustment option as well but i believe this shouldnt present a problem if your tv is properly calibrated although i do believe the option should be included. I really cant recall any game ive ever played not having one so i just found it odd and worth mentioning. All this considered though i must say is bethesda really known for eye popping amazing looking games? No so theres really no let down there for me. As far as the voice acting goes it is far superior to all other fallout/elders scrolls games in every way. For me the UI isnt a problem at all once you get used to it and if anyone complaining about it has a better idea on how to handle inventory management in the game then i would love to hear their bright ideas. for me its a non issue other than the fact that theres so many cool items in the game that im always overencumbered bc i wanna horde it all. The perks system does take some getting used to at first but is it better or worse than it used to be? Not at all just different. The only upside is its alot easier on the eyes with its charming little comic strip look. Oh yeah and i was being sarcastic earlier when i said "short review " sorry bout that. Started rambling a bit lol. All things said i myself personally have been having alot of fun with this game and get lost in its immersive post apocalyptic world for hours on end just as i did in all the previous titles set in this universe. I believe that if others could get over the initial disappointment caused by all the over hyping that they would as well bc there is a wealth of content to be had in this game. So please read as many positive reviews as you do negative and do some more research on other platforms other than metacritic also before you make a decision and miss out on a great game. Expand

The characters are interesting, the gameplay is great, and the missions are fun. Bethesda has made it so that you can do missions how you want them, when you want them. You decide how you want your character to play and act, whether it be stealthy, melee only, or run and gun. This game is nonlinear in the most beautiful of ways, giving the player complete control. Each environment is a treat to explore and the player is rewarded heavily for searching every nook and cranny of buildings and areas. Items are scattered about the wasteland, and each has the potential to be useful. With the new building and crafting system, Bethesda has made it so that any single piece of gear, armor, or junk can be broken down into materials that can be used to upgrade guns and armor, or build various items for settlements. Nothing is put to waste. Overall, if you are a fan of exploration story, and adventure, and can give a pass to some bug issues and meh graphics, then Fallout 4 is a great game for you. Expand

This game is EXCELLENT! It's my first time with the Fallout series, although I LOVED the Elder Scrolls games (except the online POS). Huge world, a lot to do, great progression, good graphics (could be better). Overall, VERY fun game and world that you can spend a TON of time enjoying.

If you play fallout for the story and RPG elements, this game isn't for you. The dialogue is dumbed down (less dialogue options, and are often ambiguous) and the story isn't so good. No feeling whatsoever for any of the characters. Not as much complexity in story-telling. Often times it doesn't matter what decision you make; the ending is still the same.

Not a huge step up in graphics either.

Aside from that, nearly everything else has been stepped up from Fallout 3 and NV, and there are some cool new features like settlement building, weapon modding, etc. So overall, you're buying a game that feels less RPG (poor dialogue, not as complex), not as good a story, but improves on nearly everything else from Fallout 3/NV in terms of gameplay. Whether you're casual or not, worth buying, but wait till it goes on sale.

Gave it 9/10 cause i'm more on the casual side. If I was RPG side, 6/10.

Fallout 4 is a great way to spend some time playing video games. I think the level up perk system is strong, probably my favorite aspect, offering lots of different character builds. Exploring the mysteries of the wrecked city is fun, but I will admit to growing tired of looking at trash and collapsed buildings all the time. Also, character models/animations are dated, especially after seeing what CD Projekt Red and others are doing. Bethesda was once a front-runner in 3D open world, but their engine is now behind. Also, crafting/town building held no interest for me.

I'm playing Survival and while it can be frustrating dying on every grenade or mine, it's also fun to be challenged a bit. "Survive" to level 10ish and you will be fine after that.

I feel similar about Fallout 4 as I once did with Fallout 3. A lot less customization role-playing than 3, but overall still very fun and still playing. Looking forward to some good DLC down the road.

Fallout 4 is an astonishing game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This game could have easily been my Game of the Year, but it didn't feel like enough of a push forward to me mind-blowing. Don't get me wrong, this is probably still my favorite game I have played so far, but I felt a lot more into the world of New Vegas than I did in the Commonwealth. It still achieved everything we love aboutFallout 4 is an astonishing game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This game could have easily been my Game of the Year, but it didn't feel like enough of a push forward to me mind-blowing. Don't get me wrong, this is probably still my favorite game I have played so far, but I felt a lot more into the world of New Vegas than I did in the Commonwealth. It still achieved everything we love about Fallout games; endless quests, huge open world, fun and exciting characters, etc, and even added new game experiences with the base building and character creation, but the few things they did not accomplish made it feel almost like a re-tread. I am not sure it is fair to come down on the game for it, but it was such a lasting feeling after playing this game that I can't give it a higher score, even though it accomplished so much. Hype may have hurt this game.

The decisions you make in the game don't feel as though they make as much of a difference as they used to. I remember in past Fallout games when you aligned with certain groups it drastically affected your relationship with different groups, so much so that when you approached them they would just automatically attack you. With this game however you are allowed to stay with almost all the factions at once for so long that you don't feel like you are making a huge mark on the dynamics of the world. I liked this because I was allowed to play a lot more quests and didn't have to go back and re-play as much, but that isn't really what I was looking for.

I feel like the game hands you companions a little too much, making you never feel that lonely wanderer-type game we had in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. You get Dogmeat right away in the game, which is fine, but he is handed to you. I liked having to just come across these people and after doing quests you could potentially have them as a companion. I found my self having the option of choosing between a good handful of companions after a very short time while following the main quest line. It is nice to have the companion, as I use them as a pack mule, but it felt earned in previous Fallout titles.

The new base-building mechanic is a TON of fun. I was able to get very creative with making these highly defendable locations, and making them fun little havens for my Settlers. I found myself spending several hours just putting time into making my bases. Definitely a mechanic they need to continue.

The new crafting system is simply perfect. I spent time going out randomly into the world to seek out materials to be able to fully upgrade all my weapons, which aided in my discovery of the world. I found myself in previous Fallout games finding several locations and then just fast traveling around for the rest of the game, whereas in Fallout 4 I don't want to fast travel as much so I can get all the materials I can, which means I also find more quests and the quirky things throughout the Commonwealth.

In closing, Fallout 4 is another stepping stone in the great Bethesda open world RPG line-up, but I think they could use something else in future Fallout titles. They reiterated everything good about the older titles, and if you enjoyed Fallout 3 and New Vegas I guarantee you will enjoy this one, but I warn you that you may feel a wanting for more as I did.

You're a vault dweller and you're gonna get that X-01 power armor. The world is huge, and is a playground for exploration. And despite the slightly disappointing main plot, there are side quests that are awesome and interesting like the The Last Voyage of The U.S.S. Constitution, and interesting characters like Captain Ironsides. The shooting mechanics feel greatly improved from the previous games, so I don't spam VATS constantly. The crafting system provides so many different, unique weapons you'll never stop searching through piles of trash for economy wonderglue. The settlement builder shines in this title. Building my own 'pad' was probably the most enjoyable thing I've done in the game, and making Sanctuary a junk fortress made me feel like I could rival Megaton. My biggest complaint is the weak storyline. The main story is pretty non-compelling, and I didn't start the main quest line until I was level 21, and found it to be less than spectacular. The companion AI is very broken, but this doesn't knock down the score because it can be avoided by just travelling without your brain-dead dog at your side. Overall, Fallout 4 engrosses you in the little things, the side stories, the details, and is fairly ok in the big quests and stories. Thank you Captain Ironsides, you'll make it to open sea one day. "The graphics and sounds of the game are very recognizable to fans of the series, carrying the same photo-realistic touch of texture, a somewhat stiff character model, 40’s - 60’s soundtrack, and futuristic laser effects, all of which are set to an intriguing and wondrous apocalyptic landscape. The audio quality of weapons and environmental effects has been improved and are noticeably superior to previous games. In one instance of gameplay, one might find themselves traveling south to repel an invasion of ravenous raiders when a storm starts to roll in and completely engulf the player with thunder and wind. The dramatic effect and realistic balance of weather elements creates a special experience. The soundtrack, while featuring new songs, does contain past fan favorites which is a welcome and refreshing piece of nostalgia. The graphics, while sharper and more defined, are relatively lack luster when compared to other big releases of this year... these games met popular demand by representing crisp and colorful environments that realistically represented textures, lighting, shadows and movements especially when considering humanoid characters. In somewhat of a contrast Fallout has long since had a cartoonish flare to its style in a general array of browns and greens and smoother, more paint-like patterns than what one might see in real life. Bethesda stuck with this approach in Fallout 4 and while players can often find themselves observing a vast landscape that seems like a masterfully hand painted canvas of fallout life, these scenes are rather aesthetically un-impressive when compared to the landscapes of other big releases this year... what can be concluded is that the graphics are an improvement in the series, but in generational context do not meet expectations of what a majority of gamers believe a video game in the year 2015 should look like... gamers are also dealing with consistent disjunction in AI movement, speech, and interaction within the environment... this break in continuity editing, however familiar to fans of the franchise as such errors were commonplace and often humorous in other titles, causes the game weakest standpoint to affect its strong points all the more. However, what’s important to note in the visual and audio category is the relativity of this subject to the game’s overall review. Graphic and sound quality are an essential part of a game, but gameplay and story components are much more pivotal to a games’ success and overall enjoyment."

"The gameplay is where Fallout 4 shines, and it’s most notable in the details. The game has been inducted with a lot of changes to the basic formula of what is to be expected in a Fallout game. A slightly more responsive combat style has been created, thought admittedly it is not as polished as other shooting games. Weapon recoil and sensitivity feels smoother as do the physics of combat engagements..."

"... the introduction of modification allows for creativity and variety within the personal experience of each character, giving players choices in offense and defensive capabilities as well as personal styles. All though a basic idea and without complex design and innovation, when these changes are paired with the immersive environment and exciting combat, Fallout 4 is bringing a fresh and new approach to the Wasteland adventure. It is enough to keep fans familiar with the series, but also applies the sense of updated and superior handling and the potential of a more intimate and connected relationship with the Fallout story."

"The adventure players take through the games narrative has been argued by Gamespot to be the driving force of its success and that the game 'lures you in with mystery and the promise of adventure'.... this world leaves an emotional impact and grows more and more interesting with each few hours of gameplay. Though it is also reasonable to observe that while the foundation of the story is engaging, quests can become mundane as they can follow a repetitive format of snatch and grab, collect and build, or seek and destroy."

"It is arguable that the size of the world is in fact too small and should have been made more expansive, but with the addition of the ability to sprint, unlike previous games, gamers are able to cover groto cover ground twice as fast and therefor when exploring and experiencing the world, it’s perception of size is reduced to a smaller size. This can be a huge disappointment to some gamers, but doesn’t actually downplay the game’s value... Fallout 4 is just as expansive, if not more so, than other open-world games today."

"Gamespot scored the game 9 out 10 concluding that ‘In the grand scheme of things, Fallout 4's minor issues pale in comparison to its successes’. The bottom line is that Fallout 4 has its flaws… However, this newest title is an improvement on an already successful formula of open-world gameplay and has nowhere to go but up."

+First off, i simply love the graphics. I know many have commented that it looks last gen, and they are entitled to think that. However, the atmosphere this game provides is beautiful. The shading in the game is fantastic and all of the lighting is gorgeous.
+Secondly, the music and sound is wonderful and adds to that atmosphere perfectly in my opinion however it can be too dramatic at times.
+The story is enough to make me want to explore. Not amazing but good for a massive open world game, and this game is pretty massive.
+Weapons, armor, and customization are very good
+Building is rewarding even though it offers little to the game
    +Good voice acting
+Nick Valentine is an awesome character

-Dialogue choices are pretty boring and end up making little differences.
-lip syncing can be way off at times
-game suffers from a number of glitches typical from bethesda (havent encountered any serious ones but they are still annoying and shouldnt be allowed in a 60 dollar title)

Last thing i have to say is that I wish i had the game on PC so that i could download all of the glorious mods for it. BUY IT ON PC! And dont buy an XBONE theyre lame and dumb and stupid. Also, this is a game that is pretty rewarding and has not left me regretting the amount of time i put in. I think its definitely worth the pick up.

Bad things, I don’t think there is anything particularly bad about this game other than the usual in Bethesda. This is, first, quite a few bugs in the game, mostly minor bugs but some relatively mayor ;e.g. a companion getting lost and not having a clue of where he/she is, they usually end up showing up again at some point but still annoying. Second, and not less important, a.i. is awful both for enemies and companions. It is especially frustrating with companions, mainly because they get stuck in stuff constantly so you find yourself looking over your shoulder quite often just to make sure they’re actually still there. Other stuff; some people say the game is too easy or too hard, well… I don’t think they’re right about this. In my opinion, this is one of the few games out there where you can actually choose a level of difficulty that suits you, from easy which is really easy to survival (which is very challenging, no fast travel, having to eat and drink etc.). Finally, although not a massive deal, I feel the loss of the karma system has damaged the game a bit; I quite liked having a reputation in the game based on the karma thing. It is true that if you go guns blazing in a settlement they’ll be hostile and that is it, so there is still some consequences to bad actions but not nearly as significant as in F3 or other games in general. A good example of why a miss the karma system is companions (yes, again); there’s quite a few companions for you to choose; some are more good than bad and vice versa (ethically speaking). The thing is, I can go and choose a “good karma” companion and do good stuff (help people, avoid violence etc.) so he/she likes me and get all the dialogues and stuff, right after I finish with that companion I can go and choose a “bad karma” one a start doing bad stuff (steal, easy trigger guy etc.) and it is equally easy to get all his lines of dialogue etc. since he does not have any kind of prejudice towards me because I have no reputation (i.e. karma system) so the A.I basically does not see you as having a personality unless it is something serious enough for it to get hostile (as in attacking them or stuff). So basically, you can switch between being a saint and being a damn bastard and it’s fine, as long as you don’t cross a few lines, being this mainly killing or stealing too much. This, in my opinion does not make sense.

Other good things, pretty much everything else, the game is beautiful to see and hear, gameplay is pretty much the same as in F3 so it is good fun. The thing that I though was particularly good in this one was the story, very good story with different factions and some charismatic secondary characters. The story is what made me like F4 more than F3, it is in my opinion quite good.

Finally, I forgot to mention that maybe I would have liked a venue with a bit more charisma. I don’t have anything against Boston, but for me it’s just another city, does not have anything special (USA people might feel different about this).

Anyway, you liked F3? go for this one, I’m pretty sure you’ll love it. In general, if you like this kind of game (I’d call it an rpg mixed with a bit of fps), F4 is quite a safe bet in my opinion.

This is my first review on Metacritic. When reviewing this game it's important to know that I am a huge fan of the Fallout series. I have never anticipated a game more than I have this one. It delivered everything I was hoping it would be. If you're looking for a fast paced game, this is NOT the game for you.

When reviewing this game, I think it's important to know that it takes some time to get going, especially if you're going to compare it to the other two incarnations; Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. The first 10-20 hours of gameplay are very similar, with some notable differences in gameplay mechanics that I feel are a major improvement. One of the alluring things about Fallout is that you can get started and then abandon the main storyline for a long time without worrying about coming back to it.

There are so many things you can do in this game before worrying about the main story, even avoiding the faction storylines leaves plenty to do. The thing I love about this game's story, and if you don't give it time to develop you'll miss out, is how the main story blends in with the faction questlines with a great surprise. I didn't see it coming, and I thought I knew about most of Fallout's secrets.

In reading a lot of the negative reviews I can only guess that people were either looking for a fast paced game, or didn't give it enough time to develop. I play over 70 in game days before I even touched the main storyline. There is that much to do.

I travelled all over, found most of the bobbleheads, built my level up and maxed out the few perks that I found the most useful. The settlement building mechanic is unbelievable. The weapon modding mechanic is so much fun. These two aspects make almost every item valuable for something, whether it be for making a silencer for your shotgun or a painting for your living space.

I find the FPS aspect of the game much improved. I hardly use VATS (the computer assisted targeting system) at all. The baddies are harder (think World War Z zombies) and smarter.

I have not had a single glitch playing it on my PS4. The load times are acceptable. The graphics aren't spectacular, but considering the sheer size of the game, I have no problem that the graphics aren't the best. They are definitely an improvement over the previous incarnations of the series.

If you want a game that is very involved, a lot of variety (from what I can tell, there's at least 6-8 different ways to play the story and get a different ending), and play time value for your money, Fallout 4 is the best game available.

what i didnt like is that when the Story is finished there is still a lot to explore but no really new stuff, same old Monsters and enemies. the constant Need for crafting materials and Fusion cores to keep your power armor running is also a Major pain in the ass

Wow! I think I'm gonna be that disappointing accused-of-casual kinda gamer, cause I loved the game. Okay, a three-year-old child could finish it, but damn, you got a survival mode, dude. Fallout 4 has the magic that characterizes the franchise, with nice and apocalyptic scenarios and a pretty good story.

For those of you who are complaining about the graphics, I must remember you this is a Bethesda game (what does this means? That you don't have to care so much about details in faces and stuff but about the whole setting cause there's a giant open world out there).

Moreover, this episode in the saga has incorporated some great new elements, like the possibility of building your own settlements or the more dynamic combat system.

A few aspects to improve could be the introduction of richer dialogues or, my personal point: why not adding motor transports? Come on, even in Mad Max's apocalyptic world they have tones of fuel! But yeah, I've had a great time playing Fallout 4, stop being so embittered! :)

I have enjoyed every minute that I've been able to explore the vast and wide open Wastelands in Fallout 4. The Wastelands can be both depressing and magnificent at the same time, showing a world that was once known and lived in, now destroyed, while also giving us a new world full of hope and promise.

The combat, crafting options, and settlement building in Fallout 4 are great because it all feels so natural in the world that you are now living in. There are interesting and complex characters that you will meet throughout that add to the overall gameplay.

This game does have its flaws, the graphics are less than stellar, the inventory management can be a chore, and the overall story starts out as promising and interesting but does seem to run out of steam towards the end.

But overall, this has become one of my favorite games. It is a great and highly addictive RPG/FPS that will constantly make you wonder what is around each corner and a world that is absolutely amazing to explore.

Fallout is a lifestyle. It's an institution. I put well over 300 hours into Fallout 3 (with expansions) and am already well on my way to matching that with Fallout 4, and just within a few weeks. Warning; you will be addicted. The Bethesda way of sucking you into the game-play and not letting go is very real. But realize also you will be giddy with gaming fulfillment. Before I get into the review, let me just add for you to ignore some of the negative reviews. Most of them don’t have any good reason as to why they are rating Fallout 4 a ‘0’ they simple say “Go play the Witcher 3”. Someone gave it a ‘2’ because they sucked at the game. Most of them don’t have any good reason as to why they are rating Fallout 4 a ‘0’ they simple say “Go play the Witcher 3”. Someone gave it a ‘2’ because they sucked at the game. Now I’m not saying Fallout 4 is the most perfect game ever created and it shouldn’t be rated down, but all of the negative reviews I have read are the most absurd reviews and ratings.

    Now, onto my review.
Fallout 4 isn’t one of those games you pick up thinking “I’ll just play 30 minutes or so”, you will most definitely be playing more than that. Fallout 4 brings in heaps of new features that I, personally, welcomed in with open arms. Bethesda did a great job in all aspects of the game, however it is missing a little depth with the story line.

    The Quests,
The story was mediocre, it did draw me in and I did enjoy it after completing it, however it did leave me feeling like there should have been more. I have completed all endings and the Brotherhood quest line was undoubtedly the best one out of the lot. I do feel as if the story could have had more detail and depth but where it lacked in the story I do feel as if it shined in the side missions and the little unmarked nicks and knacks that I won’t spoil for those who have yet to find them.

    The Combat,
The Combat is a major step up from that of Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The combat in this feels tense and fluid all whilst being quite difficult at the same time. I play on very hard and at first it was very hard but now the level I am at I feel like I am so strong that It doesn’t matter what is shooting or running towards me, I feel immortal due to my armor, weapons and perks. I’m nothing but a bullet sponge. That is why the addition of the updated Survival mode will be tremendous.

    The Workshop mode,
This is a dream come true. Ever since I picked up Fallout I always thought it would be amazing if I could build my own town with junk and scraps I find and finally, Bethesda delivered. When I first watched their E3 conference and they revealed to everyone the Workshop mode, I jumped up in excitement. But then I starting thinking that they’d only be three locations to build in. Then I jumped into the world of the Commonwealth and I discovered just how many locations there were to build I was filled with excitement and determination to make every location awe-inspiring. I started my mega-structure settlement at Kingspot lighthouse, built from the bottom of the light house to the top, what a sense of achievement I got from completing that. Now I am currently building a town and market place on Spectacle Island. There are however, a few problems with the Workshop mode. Firstly, you can’t place everything Bethesda has in the game that they use to decorate areas and interiors of buildings. Secondly, what is with the snapping and placement of objects sometimes? It really confuses me as to why I cannot place a filing cabinet against the wall. Lastly, the Junk fences, why do they not snap into place? I’ve had to resort to the rug glitch which I should not have to do.

    The Bugs
I am not sure what everyone is saying about “All these bugs make the game unplayable”, because I am not lying when I say this, but I have only encountered two bugs. The first bug I encountered was I was trading with the merchants in Diamond City, when suddenly my Pip-Boy disappeared and I only could see my arm, to fix it I simply pulled my gun out then holstered it and it was fine. The second bug I encounter (still happens sometimes) is when a car or a mini-nuke explodes the texture for the mushroom cloud is still in pixels but quickly fixes itself once I look at it for a second.

    The New Dialog System
I seem to be one of the few that actually likes the dialog system, I enjoyed sitting back and watching the conversations unravel. Not going to lie, I do prefer that of previous Fallouts, but I do think this new feature is really well done. Both performances from Courtenay Taylor and Brian T. Delaney are awesome and deserve a lot of praise.

Fallout 4 welcomed so many new and great features to its game play and story. Although lacking in depth I did find the story to still be interesting. With the new gun-play and workshop content I truly believe Fallout 4 deserves the rating 9/10.

I don't get the bad reviews. This is probably the best open-world-rpg ever made. Futuristic, dystopian Landscape, tons of weapons and armor and an amazing soundtrack. -guns, there are alot of different guns to use in this game
-customization, when using certian armor you truly become attached to it. ive used the same armor for over 100 hours
-voiced protagonist, oh goodness how long ive waited for this. and i have played every fallout released so i am not casual by any means
    -music is amazing
    -story is wonderful and immersive
    -more companions than ever
-so much to do. and every side quest is immersive and interesting, like a whole new story!
-settlement building, yes it could use some work but it is an amazing feature
-gunplay is so smooth. i actually prefer standard aiming over V.A.T.S now!
-and last but not least, the different factions you can join. they are all unique in theyre own way
    cons:
-fps issues, even on a high end pc
    -sometimes the game will crash
-the old dialogue system was more accurate and predictable
-thats it! i honestly love the game. and i feel like anyone who isnt pessimistic will love it as well. This game was worth every penny ive spent on it and more, and i see the low scores, these are people that are too afraid of change. this game is leaps and bounds ahead of the others, maybe not graphic wise but true gamers dont play for graphics alone. my final complaint is the wait for more fallout! as they sold a season pass for 30 dollars and we are getting over 60 dollars worth of content as a thank you to theyre fanbase. this is the one developer i will trust and actually invest my money in. because they have done such a great job with the game i love.
im rating a 9 out of 10. i subtract a point for the fps drops and the very rare crashes i have

I LOVE this game. I only have 2 problems with it:
    1. There are a lot of bugs.
    2. THERE'S NO BOW AND ARROW!

Overall fantastic game though. I love how much freedom you have and the combat is really awesome. Must-have for people who like single-player games and want one that will last (I've been playing for close to 150 hours now, and I'm still going!)

First off, I'm really not a graphics fiend, I'm more of a story driven, game play sorta guy, that's why i tend to go back to old gen PS games. Besides that, Fallout 4 tends to be that game with enjoyable mechanics, sure they took out certain things I liked about the old Fallout games particular 3 and NV, but they also improved on other aspects. I don't understand so many negative reviews, I don't rush the story on any fallout games, I mostly like to trek the world that Bethesda make and never use fast travel, and through out my Journey in fallout 4 something always happens, previous entries were quite barren and monochromatic, Fallout 4 adds a bit more juiciness to their universe, with different hues, many and many and many! locations to explore, and let me not begin to mention the settlement building, your life will be sucked, don't have a wife, or a girlfriend.

The BAD: Oh yeah there are a few, now I haven't finished the game yet, but so far Not the biggest of the dialogue system, it feels at times inconsistent, also not knowing what your character is going to say is a bit annoying. sometimes this breaks immersion for me, seeing that these characters are just code, and not actual humans. The story isn't that bad, I actually enjoy it more than 3, fallout 4 hits some high points in its story, no spoilers, but their is one character who cant be recruited as a companion, but had a way more interesting background than all your companions combined and the story highlights that. so much I believe there should a. New Vegas style fallout game staring this character.

all and all, Its fallout, more on the shooty shooty side, but it's still fallout non the less, and to add another note, I have other triple A titles but I keep coming back to this game wasting vast amounts of time.

Love this game. Great story, interesting progression, fantastic graphics. The building of the huts seemed unnecessary. Also, I would have like to have a "what did i miss" list. Cant wait for the DLCs

A strong return for the franchise, boasting incredible customisation, a fascinating world and brutal yet brainy shooting, slightly tarnished by lacklustre AI and tedious inventory management. [Christmas 2015, p.88]

Feral Ghoul ugly in many ways, but beneath its iffy exterior beats the heart of one helluva great RPG. Get past the graphics deficiency, and the sheer thrill of Fallout 4’s combat, crafting options, and exploring will hold your attention for months. [January 2015, p64]

Fallout 4 leans to the Shooting side of things. It strips down the gameplay from the actual RPG elements and offers a meta-nuclaer shooting gallery which of course keep its charm and gameplay wealth but also feels a little too friendly for the new comers. The Base builder mode is unnecessary, boring and irritating. Unfortunately, overall, there are no steps forward for this Nuclear Holocaust Behemoth of the video games industry. Only steps sideways.
