It's really difficult to hate on much of anything in Everybody's Golf for the PS4. It's an addictive, enjoyable golfing experience "for everyone" with plenty of replay factor and the added hook of daily challenges which should funnel players into the online modes. We're certain that veteran Hot Shots Golf players know what they are getting into with Everybody's Golf and hopefully potential newcomers will be enticed by the very reasonable $39.99 price tag.

It may not be the purist’s choice, but for pure enjoyment it cannot be beaten. Everybody's Golf is everything I wanted from the return of the series.

Everybody’s Golf was exactly what I was looking for in a relaxing, yet fun game. It has the makings of a great arcade golf game and some pretty nice longevity with the online mode. The single player is no slouch either even when it does get slightly grindy. The customization is giant, and the way the game teaches the player the simple mechanics of golf and slowly discusses the more complicated aspects of the game and how to do certain shots really makes the game accessible to pretty much anyone. I highly suggest this one to anyone remotely interested in it or the game of golf. There’s a lot of content here, and for the most part, it’s all good.

Everybody’s Golf is a great game for those who want to relax and hit the virtual links. The game provides a good challenge that increases slightly as you progress. The beautiful graphics and calming soundtrack make the world more engaging and serene. The extra activities such as golf cart driving and fishing add to the already high replayability. If you’re a fan of the Hot Shots series, you’ll definitely want to pick this up.

The most arcade and funny golf game is back with a new videogame that is reminiscent of the best games of the saga. What's more, it features many improvements and great online modes.

I’ve been playing golf games for about as long as I can remember but they do tend to veer more towards the simulation rather than arcade fun. Everybody’s Golf I think finds a nice little middle ground of sorts… it’s certainly goofy and doesn’t take itself seriously at all… but the gameplay is still geared around making the shot the best you can, aiming for maximum power and maximum accuracy or adjusting power and adding a bit of back spin to stop the ball as close to the hole as possible. You can play it aggressively or you can aim for a bit of finesse… chances are either way you will have a lot of fun. Certainly a good game to add to the collection with that pick up and play style that can see you accidentally playing for hours when you thought you were just going to grab a quick 9 hole game.

Everbody's Golf does its title justice and delivers a near perfect virtual golf experience accessible to everyone looking to shoot some holes.

With this latest entry on the PlayStation 4, Clap Hanz gives longtime fans and newcomers plenty of reason to hit the links, even if it doesn't quite live up to all its promise.

Not every single aspect of Everybody's Golf hits the mark, but so, so much of it does. It gets the most important parts right, and I'm hopeful we'll see some quality-of-life updates and advanced control options before long to help close the gap. Clap Hanz has dreamed up a wonderfully warmhearted game, one I encourage every would-be golfer to consider picking up.

With a low barrier to entry and a high skill ceiling, charming design, and reasons to play for a long time, Everybody’s Golf really is golf for everybody.

This is very much more Everybody’s Golf with a few extra brush strokes and a overtly pleasant online portion to round it out. The result of that is easily the best version of the game to date, and with a good price point and welcoming structure, it’s a fine place to visit for a few holes.

The first PS4 piece of the time-tested series does not bring a miraculous technical design and it has some flaws. But at the same time, it offers a great entertainment for both new and seasoned golfers and motivates players to show up their mastery.

Changes are plentiful, but don't disrupt the formula of what makes this series so great. Come for the characters, stay for the simple-but-demanding golfing. [Nov 2017, p.79]

The transition of this beloved series to the PS4 gave us a fun and quite enjoyable game. Easy to pick up, but hard to master, suitable for almost every one and packed with content and modes, Everybody’s Golf is that pretty little game that you’ve probably been looking for, for when you need to relax.

Everybody's Golf is a reasonably priced game that will give you many hours of enjoyment. Don't let the cutesy graphics dissuade you, it's a great game to play. Even if you own Grand Theft Auto 5.

No matter how ridiculously superhuman your linksman skills become--there are awards for getting a hole in one on a par-5, after all--Everybody's Golf's strict adherence to the sport's strategic underpinnings is never compromised.

Everybody’s Golf is engaging for players of all skills levels and it does a fantastic job at easing players in. Simple mechanics ensure anyone can play, but additional shot types add extra layers of depth and strategy. A steady stream of rewarding unlockables is bolstered by seamless online integration. Even if you don’t like golf, Everybody’s Golf is worth the time.

Everybody's Golf is joyful, fun and packed of amazing things to do. Clap Hanz reinvented its take on golf with a gripping online mode and a very functional ability progression system without losing the "easy to learn, hard to master" attitude of the series. The game lacks on the technical side, but it's fun to play and is really meant for everyone, so if you don't hate to spend time on the green, Everybody's Golf is really worth playing.

There are a few design and progression issues but, ultimately, Everybody’s Golf is a triumphant return for the series. The golf gameplay is deep yet simple enough to fully understand, there is a huge amount of content both online and off to get stuck into, and the light-hearted tone and style make the world a joy to spend time in. It is the perfect golf game for seasoned players and newcomers alike.

Clap Hanz’s effort to evolve Everybody’s Golf is a successful way of thinking outside of the box. While there aren’t a ton of modes, there’s enough here to keep players coming back for more. Keeping its challenging and addicting gameplay, Everybody’s Golf manages to blend frustration and enjoyment successfully. The online aspect has no hiccups and it’s easy to play with other people. Turf War is extremely hectic and fun at the same time. Clap Hanz took full of advantage of the technology that the PS4 offers to create the biggest leap of the series and offering fresh new innovations. Not to mention, you can literally fish.

Everybody’s Golf‘s lack of visual splendour shouldn’t put you off playing what is the most accessible and enjoyable golf game there is on the market though. Creating and developing your own comical golf avatar is wonderfully addictive, and while there are only five courses available, the vast array of gameplay options and features means it’s hard to ever tire of sinking balls until the early hours of the morning, whether online or off. Everybody’s Golf on PlayStation 4 is the best it’s ever been, and that’s all you really need to know.

The series returns with a great game, that doesn't evolve the formula much, but tweaks it to keep it fresh. It's a shame that it comes out in such a busy period, since many people may overlook it blinded by the other big names.

With its newest version Everybody’s Golf neither excels nor does it achieve anything groundbreaking on the greens. But the mechanics are spot on and make this a more than solid pick-up&play golf.

A more than correct golf game. It preserves the franchise's effective and comfortable gameplay. The new additions may like or dislike you depending of the type of player that you are. The focus is on social gaming now, that's for sure.

The latest iteration of Everybody’s Golf represents an evolution for the classic PlayStation golf franchise. The new character progression system is one of the most welcomed features on top of the robust online modes and the freedom it offers on the golf course. If you can look beyond the grinding, you can enjoy a very pleasant virtual golf experience.

Everybody's Golf is a fun game for everybody. But it could have been better. You unlock things, but this takes a lot of time and there are not a lot of surroundings. Besides that this is a game you can play for hours and still have fun.

Everybody's Golf is still the funniest and freshest golf game you remembered on the previous PlayStation systems. Now it has a new focus on online multiplayer, and it works very well.
  36. As in past games within this series, I most often find myself competing not against AI or human opponents, but rather to improve upon my previous performance. Which is exactly why most people play golf in the real world. That Everybody’s Golf successfully simulates this experience in your living room is perhaps all that golf fans will need to know in order to decide whether to pick it up.

Everybody's Golf is a catchy golf game with a real challenge and has a good feel to it, but some points let it down like the repetitive solo mode, and the useless Golf Island open world.
  39. 70
Everybody’s Golf sticks firmly to the fairway, though it swings a little too wildly too often and dumps itself in the bunker at times too. The grind is real, and though it's enjoyable enough, it's also a game that's quickly going to become hostile to newbies, and that's a problem when so much of the experience relies on the online play.

Everybody's Golf takes a fresh start by going online and enhancing its progress system. The Turf War mode is a fun way to change your approach by going so much faster than usual, and this time you have to actually use your stuff to make it better. Wherever it is your first time going for a put or not, it is the most fun you can get with a golfing game. However, its limited number of courses and its clumsy design might miss the boat...

This franchise's attempt to step out from its own shadow is only half successful, and not because it dared to do so in the first place, but because it didn't dare enough. It also lacks a singular vision, and instead feels like a collection of parts pieced together.

Everybody’s Golf reaches the green at eagle pace and then proceeds to ever-so slightly duff the green. Don’t get us wrong, this is still an extremely enjoyable arcade golf game with some brilliantly original ideas, but there are some bizarre design errors which seem to weirdly imbalance the game. Pair that with an unreasonable progression system and you’re left with a title that needlessly undoes a lot of its own hard work. At the end of the day, you’re still going to extract hundreds of hours of top-notch entertainment from this title – but save for a few silly oversights it could have been essential, and that’s a damn shame.
  43. 70
Everybody’s Golf is a decent update for the series that retains the fantastic fun and gameplay found in earlier versions, but the hours of grinding required to unlock the full experience won’t be for everyone.

Everybody’s Golf looks good and has the same fun, breezy feel as previous versions, combined with intriguing online modes and a surprising amount of depth. The new open-world, online focus creates a new energy in what has always been a conservative series. On the downside, it’s very grindy in its early hours, locking off a lot of the fun stuff until you’ve put a good ten hours into the game. Hardcore fans may not worry – it gets better the more time you put in – but it’s weird that this most accessible of golf games is less of a crowd-pleaser than it deserves to be. [Initial Score = 70]

Everybody's Golf is a solid arcade title that seems to do everything right in recreating the sport itself, and providing a carefree and welcoming atmosphere. But unfortunately, some jarring design decisions make this an overly restrictive and tedious experience that few casual players will want to slog through.

In some ways Everybody’s Golf has been well worth the wait. This is still the same gentle and appealing brand of arcade golf that fans have come to know and love, and it’s easy to get caught up in the sheer fun of it all. However, once you venture online you’ll discover that the game is currently deeply unbalanced, with micro-transactions and mobile-esque grinding sapping any sense of competition from proceedings, while asking players to reach for their wallets in order to gain an advantage. In a game that’s supposed to be all about the golfing fun, Sony have categorically found a way to put you firmly in the rough.

I do love this series and I certainly didn’t have a bad time playing it, but this entry is lacking in the pizzazz that the earlier entries had. The Golf Island overworld adds nothing to the experience, and the amount of grinding to unlock new things is downright ridiculous. That said, the core golfing is still highly enjoyable, it’s nicely priced nicely at $40, and frankly, there’s no competition on the market. As such, Everybody’s Golf is everybody’s golf by default — newcomers will find it solid, but longtime fans like me might wish for days gone by.
