If you're looking for strictly classic Hot Shots gameplay on your PS4 this has it in spades. However, know that it takes much longer than necessary to unlock new items for your avatar, courses, and clubs; it took me about two weeks of casual playing to unlock the second course. I wouldn't buy a PS4 just for this game, but if you have one and a golfing arcade game itch, this can certainly do the job. Expand

In the hopes of catering to newcomers to the series, they completely left behind people who have played it before. I still have hopes that they introduce new content through patches eventually, but until/ unless they do,I regret spending $40.00 pre-ordereing. People new to the series will most likely enjoy it, and even to me it is fun to a point, but the hassle of learning to use the less intuitive traditional swing shot style makes the game average at best. The addition of 3 click putting is completely unnecessary as well. Overall, this iteration is just average to me but your mileage may vary. Expand

Graphics : really poor for this generation. As others mentioned, looks like 2 generations ago.
Gameplay : addictive old school 3 button click and this series does it best.
Gameflow : big problem. You have to really play a long long time just to get to the next level and next course. It gets old to keep playing the same courses over and over again. This could have been done better.

Online : very diverse, open roaming. You get limited if you don't have the other golf courses unlocked.

Overall good game. It could have been better.

Maybe that's my fault since I played most up to this point like giant mini golf courses, using mountain bounces and hills to hit greens long before you were suppose to. sure you'd be like 100 ft. from the hole because aiming your ball down a mountain hill isn't exactly accurate but it sure was damn fun. This time around it seems more...serious, but still cartoon-ish. Most short cuts and bounces have hazards placed there for the sole purpose of stopping you from using them. Cattails in the water, that 1 tree all by itself in the middle of the course and hanging at an angle to stop your ball from reaching the green, and the list goes on.

I won't say there isn't enjoyment to be had here but a lot of what I wanted and expected just wasn't here and some of the courses are just plain mean to people who want to use shortcuts.

Also 3 taps for putting is just plain dumb and a waste of time when putting from 3 ft or lower as you have to wait for it to go alllll the way up and back down. Unnecessary addition to a fun golf game.

This is arcade addictive game play at its finest. I was brought back to my Burnout 3 racing days and it kinda reminds me a little of Sonic Adventure the music and the way you run around free style.

If you have liked Hot Shots Golf games to this point I am confident you will love this game. I know I do. It is true to the fun, challenging, satisfying nature of Hot Shots Golf games but now it has a huge scope and way more depth. I can't say enough about this game. It's obviously not a golf simulation but for pure fun in gaming you can't do better than this.

Everybody's Golf is an extremely fun game, plain and simple. A few strange design decisions keep it from being the essential game it is painfully close to being. There is no multiplayer matchmaking, and the game relies on an archaic server browser style system to play rounds with up to 3 other players. Curiously, the source of character progression (improving your clubs) is absent in these matches. The lack of matchmaking also affects the balance of these games, as players with highly upgraded clubs will inevitably be matched with new players. Other multiplayer modes exist, including a daily solo challenge and a mode called Turf-War. The daily challenge is fun, but I've found Turf-War lacking.

While the game's courses are excellent and fun to play many times over, they are locked behind a considerable singleplayer grind. It can be tedious, especially at the beginning, to put in the 10 hours or so required to unlock even the second course.

Even these annoying quirks can't hold back a game that is simply a joy to play.

Ive loved every second of my over 30 hours gameplay but it becomes a grind and a boring one at that, you will find yourself playing course after course just to level up (which is just a number no real reward for what level you become) and just to unlock that red polo shirt that you already have in pink, yellow and blue etc, unlockables are mainly cosmetic and rarely boost anything in your bag.
Online is a mostly single player experience where you play and post scores into daily rankings where you could be rewarded with some coins (which again buy something in a different colour that you already have) or once again that hairband with pink spots instead of the black spots on the one you already own.
Also online theres a daily course bonus on a different course everyday to post a score on which is a laggy mess due to people playing that one course all the time, its almost unplayable.
Online offers no voice chat but just text based phrases to say to other players like "hello" "well done" etc, pretty poor really, i played a 9 hole round versus some random player and you have to wait for each player to take a shot and watch the shot which the time allowed is 1 min per shot, you cant take shots at the same time so expect long games if you are in a party of 4.
I gave this game a 7 because i had so much fun with the short single player mode, but once thats done you will be bored.

Yes, I realize it could lead to over powered/under powered matches, but they could have easily made it so that the skills are shared, but each player can still earn experience to carry back to their own game. We have a house of people that like playing, but they won't be rewarded for their time playing another user.

For those of you who don't plan on playing local multiplayer, I'd be rating it at about a 8.5 or maybe a 9 if you've been a fan for a long time, because you'll know what to expect from the company. It's a fun time, but I would have waited for a sale or an update if I would have realized the local multiplayer halfassedness.

This is a refreshing breath of fresh air for the series. The character customization possibilities are mathematically endless. The only reason this game is getting a point off is the makers tried too many new ideas.. some work and some kinda don't. They just needed to edit more.

And the whole way that the game is designed is all about trying to disguise this.

An unengaging open HUD world with barely anything to do in it and the things you can do are not fun. Fishing is boring and pointless, no skill or challenge just collect fish to waste your time. You try to run people over in your golf cart but no you just go through them no fun allowed so what's the point. Should have just had a simple menu screen.

Out on the course your opponents will run in front of your ball while your taking a shot, they can't touch your balls but I found it annoying and off putting (no pun intended).

I think the worst design flaw in this game is having to level up your clubs. What this means is that at the beginning of the game it all feel's very grindy and because you can't hit the ball very far you simply can't get eagles. Why couldn't the game have been about playing the courses and if your good you win. No that would have made the game seem like it's short of content because it is.

Music is generic and horrible, graphics are ok but nothing special except for character models which now look like cheap Nintendo Mii's.

In summary, Everybody's Golf on PS4 isn't terrible but don't buy it if you can get any previous instalment.

Everybodys golf is a very casual and beginner friendly golf game, you start by creating your character with one of easily the best character creators ever in a game, where youre given just the right amount of freedom to make an avatar version of yourself…
And youre off to climb the ranks in the golf world…
The game does a really great job of spoon feeding you mechanics, youll eventually be able to do things like power shots or increase and decrease the power of your stroke, but these things are unlocked after beating bosses or finding items around your home are which is a hub area where you can run around getting hints, buying outfits from characters, challenging bosses and entering tournaments
the gameplay here is fairly simple, you tap to t off, choose the direction and power and then you try your hardest to land on the perfect zone to get the best out of your swing…
and you have different clubs that will hit different distances and using them will increase their stats, giving ttem more range or control for example…
the less swings you take to get in the hole while avoiding as many hazards as poosible, the more points youll get…
once youre close to the hole you can see slopes with a grid, youll see wind that does effect your ball, but you can also use a camera to help you align your shot better which is unlocked by answering trivia questions…
its genuinely satisfying to line up a shot and watch as things play out just as you invisioned
you can play 9 holes and sometimes even 18 in the tournaments…
and each round effects your total score at the end..
and by winning youll receive xp which goes towards an opponent to challenge…
each rank has 3 opponents for you to defeat, there are one on one matches and a majority of them are based on you trying to win 3 holes in a row to end the match and take place on a variety of match types…
Which adds life to this game…
There are things like mega cups which take a bit more skill than tornado cups for example which has a tornado in the hole that will suck in anything that comes near it, making it really easy to get ridiculous shots in
All of this was great.. I was having a great deal of fun with this game…
But unfortunately… this game only has 5 courses with more to be released as dlc… and they are all locked behind a ridiculous grind
youre give the first course at the start of course…
But it takes 6 and a half hours to unlock the 2nd course….
Meaning youre going to have to play the first one over and over and over for 9 and 18 holes for the length of a first person shooters single player campaign.. and even after I unlocked the new course they were still giving me the first one to play in tournaments like I haven’t had enough of it yet… unlocking the 3rd course takes 15 hours….
this is completely unacceptable…. Even half of that time is unacceptable…
Made worse by the fact that you can only play on courses you’ve unlocked in single player in any of the other modes.. including online….
There is an online mode where you can freely roam the courses you unlock and try to get the best score on its holes.. and theres a terf war mode where its 2 teams running around trying to get a birdie or higher on a hole to take control of that hole for their team…
But because of the ridiculous grind required to unlock different courses…
The higher courses will surely be ghost towns forever as only the dedicated will make it to course 2 let alone 3 4 and 5…
I made it to the 2nd course and I just couldn’t take the grind anymore…
Everybodys golf is a really great golf game..
But its grind hurts the overall package
    I give Everybody’s Golf
    a 7/10

    (2) They made a big thing in Hot Shots about the Advanced Shot System, and it WAS far superior to the 'meter' shot method. Literally played for years with Advance Shots. But, for those who preferred the 'meter', that was available, too. Not so with Everybody's -- you take the 'meter' or go suck an egg. The 'meter' stinks. Unacceptable.
    (3) I'm tired of playing 'blind' trying to figure out what all the junk on the screen means -- you got no instruction book ! OK in theory, but the game doesn't tell you jack about all the features, icons, gauges, etc. So, you just have to wade in, and hope to get explanations as you go along. Don't know what features can or will be 'unlocked', what you will or won't be able to do at some point... Unacceptable.

I am highly disappointed, especially considering all the time it took to develop and release the game. i give it thumbs down.

My only game play related complaint was the removal of advanced swing, I had to adjust to my one and only option of traditional, this was forgivable and I learned the traditional style pretty quick and I thought all was well. I enjoyed the single player game until near the end when you get rewarded your first set of custom clubs that need to be upgraded. At then end of the single player game you unlock special tours that let you earn gems to upgrade the custom clubs. Thing is once you get that far those tours aren't fun or challenging, just a grind to try and earn gems. A serious slow grind! Or you could pay to upgrade them. But here lies another issue, upgrading them is randomly generated and you could spend the money or grind it out and end up with custom clubs that still won't let you compete against the 90% of people who play online with maxed out custom clubs. This is my issue, single player is fun and all but online is where this game shined for me in the past. Once I've played through the single player and learned the mechanics and courses I want to hop online and have some real fun competing against real people. But online is a bare bones version of what it was in past titles, no graded tours just four man lobbies with everybody rocking maxed out custom clubs. Online is pitch and putt pay to win garbage.

Give us graded tours keep this dirty custom clubs far away from those tours and the score would get a bump to a near 9. As is this game is yet another eg of a beloved series ruined by the all mighty dollar.

For starters the graphics. Uninspired to say the least. The characters had me wondering if I was on a PS4 or Nintendo Wii. Not even Wii U. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting real to life characters but I was also expecting a step up from Hot Shots. Give me some sort of feeling like I'm on a next gen system. Clothing and hair physics...Something.
Next is dialogue. Not sure why the dialogue box wasn't narrated but it wasn't. It's not that I had to read through them, but again it was the feeling of being in 2000, not 2017.
Lets get to some game play. Three tap putting?!? I nearly lost my mind. Why?!? Was that a big complaint that there needed to be more button mashing? Not to mention timing/delays seem to be a little suspect too.
As I haven't done the online portion of it yet, I'll touch on the match play and tournaments.
Tournaments...WHY are all four golfers out at once as if it's speed golf? Is it a way to distract from the lack of effort put into each character? It definitely is distracting when getting up to hit. Especially putting. Which leads to the left to right break indication on the greens. It's way too hard to see the left to right that I had to zoom down to the ground to watch for the faintest little dot moving left to right.
Match play has been easy and to only get their costume, which I can't wait to put on skirts and run around in "cosplay" as a male avatar. Lots of sarcasm there if you didn't pick up on it.
I'm struggling for something good to say about the game so far and I guess I could say the scenery is well done. Also the club progression seems to be interesting. Do well with certain clubs and get "rewarded". Not a bad touch. A Golf Clash type system is motivating, but this is a good start.
They stripped away all that was good about Hot Shots and appear to have started from scratch and it feels like a full blown fail. Not only am I disappointed that I spent money on this, but I'm more disappointed that it's not fun after all the changes they made. Changes that didn't make the game better. This may have killed the franchise for me and it saddens me to say it.
You've guessed by now that I don't recommend purchasing the game, especially as an early adopter, but it might be worth looking into later after some, a lot of, updates.

Clearly, the game has not been made by anyone with any golfing knowledge/appreciation/sympathy and for a title which has had such longevity, there should have been a much higher emphasis on providing a way into/through the game that isn`t directed at TOTAL NEWBIES!!! It`s a real grind to click through all the utterly pointless character chatter and actually get to play some bl00dy golf! The problems, the problems, where do I start!?!?! Yardages are wrong and given differently depending on what screen you`re on, you can be right on the edge of the hole and it tells you there are 1.5ft left!!!!! The graphics!?!?!?!? The old game on the old system looked 1000-times better!!! The bunkers/trees/grass etc all look like PC graphics from an Amiga 500!!! Golfing terminology!?! What the hell is a "do-over"??? I don`t know about others, but I`ve no interest in winning 1500 pairs of shorts, 250 dresses and an assortment of other cr4p to make my character look good/different etc, let`s play some golf eh!?!? Added to that, there`s an unsettling, almost paedophilic nature to some of the chat in the offline mode with characters boasting about how hot some of the outfits are that the girls are wearing (the clearly sub-18 yr old girls btw) and far, far too much innuendo that really doesn`t sit well at all....creepy. This game has not evolved, it has regressed and frankly, I`d rather fire up an emulator on the PC and play Leaderboard from 1986! What a waste of money. Expand

One little annoyance I experience is that it take ages to unlock additional golf courses, so you are stuck with the same ones for a veeery long while.

Overall the best casual golf game I played since the classic Neo Turf masters :)

Unfortunately, for me, the game became repetitive so fast. The progression goes too slow to get new map. You always keep doing the same thing. Once you understand everything, there will be no challenge for you in Singleplayer (even serious mode is still easy) . Gameplay is fun but it is too simple to keep players stay. I stopped playing after I got to rank 4. I felt like there was no need for me to continue. Graphic is out-dated and not full screen on my TV. The price is a little too high for the quality you get.

In sum, this game is good for casual players who like golf. For hardcore gamers, if you don't like golf game, I don't think it suits you. Although game mechanic is real fun, it is too simple and too repetitive.

Hot Shot Golf Fore! is still today the best game in the franchise.
This game shines in on-line features, but it´s too easy when playing offline again the CPU.

Please, use the updates to improve this challenges!

Great game overall, the presentation is really good, keeping all the good aesthetics from last games.

    2. No unlockables characters like previous games (like T-Bone, Mel etc.). You create your own characters and upgrade him is a "meh" moment for me. I really liked trying new characters with unique strength and weaknesses instead of unlocking cosmetic items and upgrading your clubs gradually or via using gems.

The rest is great. It's a Everybody's Golf (Hot Shots Golf) game. Wonder if a new one will come on next gen platform eventually. Something I miss from an old game, the mini putt courses and 9-holes course full of par 3 for very quick match between friends.

Everybody's Golf is certainly, to put it mildly, a quirky game. It is a game where you can play a round with your robot/cyborg caddy LuLu who makes mechanical comments on the quality of your shots. It's a game where, once you've progressed enough to play them, you face off in 1 on 1 battles with...a Dutch housewife or a small child and then when you win, you get their clothes... It's a game where, once you've progressed enough to play them, you face off in 1 on 1 battles with...a Dutch housewife or a small child and then when you win, you get their clothes... It's pretty bizarre or perhaps just very much in line with the Eastern tastes of it's Japanese developer and Japanese publisher. It's like somebody was playing golf one afternoon and thought "wouldn't it be great if we took this game and just mashed JRPG characters into it but really wholesome ones so nobody could feasibly get offended."

So yeah, for a Western player there will be more than a few raised eyebrow moments as basically every piece of voice acting is just a hair away from being almost offensively stereotypical. You can play with a caddy who will declare chirpily "HOLE 5! ISSA PAH THEE!" but then as you finish your round somebody declares in an incredibly English accent (and I'm English) "GOOD SHOW...WELLLL DONE!" and your character in that special kind of American accent you only find in JRPGs will fist bump, do a 360 and proclaim "ALRIGHT! GOT IT!!". Yeah its odd.

But in its incessantly cheerful bizarre-ness it actually becomes quite charming and whilst you are busy laughing at this weirdness you're slowly but surely getting addicted to what is actually a really high quality arcade, pick-up-and-play, golf game. It sucks you in and keeps you playing one more round. When you hit a shot close, chip in from distance or make a long putt there is genuine elation even if it is accompanied by fireworks, your avatar doing a little dance with anime eyes and your caddy crying out in a heavily Asian influenced accent "UN-BEE-REEVABLE!" It's wacky, it's weird but importantly it is really, really fun to just pick up and mess around in.

There are some really nice, small touches to the gameplay too. The way the loading screen tips are helpful and whilst you wait you can practice timing your drive swing. When you take a shot, the movement around the rest of the course pauses and goes transparent so as not to distract you. There is a lot of thoughtful touches to the way the game plays. The interface is easy to understand and estimate distances and power required. It never feels unfair or cheap as some Tiger Woods games did. You don't frequently have a putt stop an inch from going down for example. The wind doesn't carry the ball ridiculous lengths in either direction. It feels fair but challenging and thats one of the biggest hurdles a golf game has.

They keep things fresh by mirroring holes, playing front 9/back 9 or the whole 18 and with some pretty fun "special rules". You might play with huge cups or small cups for example and each provides their own particular challenge. You might play with tornado cups which mean if you hit it within 3 foot or so of the hole the cup sucks the ball in. Remarkably low scores follow as you can imagine. It makes golf accessible and fun but makes traditional play the main focus. As such you never really get bored because it is always switching things up on you.

My main criticism is the lack of courses. There are only 6 in the game (though there are another 4 or 5 as DLC, another criticism) and it takes quite a time to unlock them all. I'd say I have put around 20 hours into it and I've only just unlocked the 5th course. The courses that are there however are impeccably designed and imaginative. This isn't PGA tour levels of course design but they look good and are fun to play and importantly have multiple attack options depending on your skill level/character progression.

If they were only going to have 6 courses I'd have preferred them to all be available from the get go in unranked play because at the beginning playing the same 2 courses over and over, however fresh the little changes can make it, gets old at times.

But then again that is sort of the beauty of Everybody's Golf. It is extremely accessible and easy to pick up and play. You can start it up, play maybe 3 rounds in 30-45 minutes and enjoy yourself. It is even quite relaxing to do so.

In the most basic terms it is just simply fun to play. It isn't trying to change the gaming world or anything but it wants you to have fun for however long you play it. There isn't nearly enough of that in modern gaming. Whilst there is unintentional humor in the voice acting and whilst the game looks charming but hardly mindblowing it is all good, simple fun and thats to be applauded, that's rare.

You will often find this in a sale for next to nothing and if you were a fan of the old school arcade golf games from long past consoles this is the modern version of it. It's easy to play but relatively difficult to be really good at, it's quirky, its pleasantly designed and it's just good fun for a low price. I'd definitely recommend it.

A fun and entertaining way to spend a rainy weekend. Not a whole lot of content but what is there certainly keeps you busy in VR. The courses are pretty cool and the gameplay feels as authentic as it can, without a full size club in your hand.

This game is awesome, definitely one of my favorite games ever. It has more than enough maps with the DLC for the game to ever get repetitive, because there are 18 holes each map as well. I'd never expect a golf game to be this addictive!

Any negatives? Well I think this game could lengthen it's playability (although it's already fairly long) with some added golf-minigames. For a sequel

Other than that the game is pretty much perfect. This is one of those game franchises that the devs really care for, and it's past metacritic scores show that. I hope the everybodys golf franchise gets more popular, because I highly recommend it!
