    Herobeat Studios set out to create a game that raises environmental awareness, and in doing so they have created a heartfelt message in the form of a very charming video game. Endling: Extinction is Forever lacks some variety, but tugs on the heartstrings, with an emotional story and genuinely asks the player to reflect on current environmental issues.

At the same time it is also a truly engaging and immersive game with well thought out mechanics. It manages to combine the social message with a fun experience. It is the perfect example of games that challenge your intellect while leaving a lasting impression due to the emotional load they carry. It has both heartwarming and extremely sad moments, the atmosphere of the game accompanying you for some time after you have seen the end credits.

    Short but poignant; that’s ultimately what Endling: Extinction is Forever is. It perfectly conveys the horrors that mankind is capable of, and how it affects the land and animals around us. And it doesn’t pull any punches. There’s no happy ending here, no matter how good you are at looking after your cubs. It’s a game that should be played though, as its message is important. Just be ready to have your soul destroyed by the time the credits roll.

    Endling – Extinction is Forever is a bold, unique, slow burn of a game that excellently conveys its ecologically conscious message and paints a dire image of rampant industrialization on a personal, microcosmic level. Because of this success, the game manages to garner an amount of player investment that belies its short runtime, but that runtime is also one of the game’s biggest hurdles when contrasted with its relatively high price tag. Had more steps been taken to engage the player in the minute-by-minute gameplay or encourage replayability, the number below might have been a notch or two higher. As it stands, however, Endling is a game where the gameplay and mechanics are readily outclassed by its theming and presentation. It’s certainly an experience worth having, but not one that lives up to its full potential.

You will hunt, search new trails, even meet friends and try to stay alive. Wish it was bigger, longer, more complex and had another ending.     Endling - Extinction is Forever is a perfect example of blending a meaningful message with charming and measured game play. The tale is that of a mother fox and her cubs and their journey through the polluted wasteland humanity has left in it's wake. An emotional heavyweight that poignantly tells their story but also that of the wider ecosystem who you encounter along the way. While the narrative is brutal and unforgiving it is wonderfully contrasted by a measured game play that adds tension and levity in equal measure showing the power and beauty of small moments even in a dark world. It was well worth the time I spent with it and it will have a lasting impact for many years. Wholeheartedly recommend.    … Expand

    Many ideas are "hidden" behind the events of the game such as the human's cruelty, pollution, decay of our societies and such.

    Gameplay wise, it is good enough to take you through the full adventure. Easy for adult players, easy enough for children.

    Many cute moments and a well written ending.
