    Too hard.

It's just not fun. And although they have introduced things like summons to make gameplay easier, unless you got like a lot of MP to summon a bunch at a time, it doesn't help much for specific enemies, or at least certain kinds of summons. And I don't want this game to just become a quest for finding a bunch of summons and grinding to get more MP, just because the game is just

I don't get how people enjoy such a game, dying so often. Some claim that after winning against a boss after having died to it multiple times feels satisfying. For me, a lot of times when I get to this point, I just feel like I've wasted so much time.

To be honest, maybe it's just because I suck at these kind of games. I tried liking it, the lore looks very interesting, the enemy design and building designs look often very cool to me, and the world design in general also looks pretty good to me.

But it's just so frustrating dying so very often. If I make progress than it's just very slow until I eventually hit a road block like a boss, which makes it very frustrating for me to continue.

I don't like the game at all, but I can see how others like it. As for me, I won't be finishing it anytime soon.

This being the case I rate this game poorly, but that's probably also because this is not my type of game. I'm not good enough as a gamer to play a Souls game.

I have played this on ps4 ps5 and pc so have a good idea of the lay of the land. And if a Fromsoft game ever needed 'Patches' (sorry) it's this one haha This game should be rated higher but due to the serious technical issues on all systems it has to be a red score...for now. Let me explain.

Im a huge fromsoft fan and trust only them for day 1 preorders. I've platinumed all their games.

Im a huge fromsoft fan and trust only them for day 1 preorders. I've platinumed all their games. Buy It really worries me that blupoint demon souls remaster can launch at 4k 60fps or near to it but elden ring can barely hit 30fps and often dips as low as 15 in sadly the areas where you need consistent performance. Ironically on ps4pro on a ps5 it runs at a solid 60fps but at luke 1800 using checkerboard and looks good. On ps4pro it's not so good sadly. I bought a ps5 for improved graphics but all I get is decade old issues which on pc ive left behind with a 3080 though I've Elden ring runs worse on a 3080 than on a ps5 lol So you can imagine the ps4 version is alot worse without that sad drive.

There is a whiff of cyberpunk about the game where fans are blindly supporting and conveniently ignoring the serious technical issues which also include a few progression stopping glitches / bugs and the occasional game breaking issue.

And post launch the patches are not addressing these issues. It still looks and runs like a...ps3 gen era game but tlou was ps3 and that ran and looked far better so...elden ring just looks ugly. Great art design but everything else is far from the beauty of sekiro or the grandeur of bloodborne.

The open world simply fails in 2022. If it was 2010 then I'm sure it be far more impressive as it has 2010 graphics. It's not remotely as good as botw or rdr2 which are games that existed before ER development even started. The latter alone is worrying but the large empty space which witcher 3 dlc would laugh at...isnt much fun to play. Yes You can explore but you'll only find Skyrim like identical copy and paste areas. Forget the wildlife of most open world games or npcs with compelling stories.

The George Martin element is inexplicably non existent making the game effectively a dark souls 4. The latter isn't a bad thing but it's not as good as ds3 in visuals / performance or gameplay so where does this leave us?

The game isn't suitable for noobs or non fromsoft fans. It's a game seemingly more for fan boys, prepaid journalists and shills to scream "goty!" while they wait for gameplay saving 'Patches' (sorry ;). It's not a bad game by any means but it has bad aspects to it or lazy maybe. Bloodborne launched in a rough state so this is nothing new but it's still not acceptable.
Wait for a sale a year from now when it's been fully patched. Eventually maybe 7-8 /10 but a 4/10 !t launch due to poor technical state :(

This game is like a turd dipped in fine chocolate. You see it and go "Wow! Does that ever look GOOD!" Once you sink your teeth into it, you realize it's nothing more than a turd dipped in fine chocolate. Block, hit, evade, parry, attack. On and on ad nauseum. Just a rinse and repeat of every other game From Software puts out.

Combat is still the exact same from Demon Souls back in 2009 with the smallest of additions, the Shakespearian just sounds dumb when you listen to a game like Soul Reaver and hear old style dialogue without trying too hard, it has lore but no story and some sidequests are just terrible

Its buggy too, I had to restart several times to progress, at some parts there are obvious problems with performance, not talking about crashes. To me it is a senseless loop of grind. And to this grind there is not even a payoff. Loot is just a joke in comparison to how much time you spend into the game without any real progress. With Level 74 I feel as weak as with Level 12 - yeah, maybe I should have gone for a Mage instead of a MeleeFighter. Maybe I should waste my time for something else. So naaww... Not worth my time. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thought this would be a fun game. So I got it. Ended up being a brutally difficult leaving almost no room for fun. It’s almost impossible to actually find your way through things unless you played a dark souls game and know that things are just hiding against walls waiting to 1 shot you. The bosses are literally insane they can easily kill you faster than you can get one hit off with almost any weapon that isn’t small it’s just all in all a game that will make you hate it and will take much more time than it’s worth. So if you like games that give the bosses the cool move sets and the better weapons than by all means waste the 60 dollars and have fun either spending a full 30 min chipping away at a bosses health and practically just dodging the whole time or killing small enemy’s that roam to farm runes for weeks and weeks just to level up slightly (which makes almost no difference to anything except what u can use) so you can maybe kill your first boss and move on to the other 20+. Most overhyped game ever. It was fun the first hours, but after about 60 hours repetitive gameplay playing it became a pain and I had to stop. For a Soulslike its mediocre and for an RPG ist's even below that. Normally I would have rated it a 5,but because all the biased 90+reviews I have to rate it a 0/10.

So here it is! 11 years after a real "Masterpiece" Dark souls 1, 13 years after the foundation Demon Souls. If you like it or not, but these games were the foundation of a whole new genre and next generations of video games.

So, years of experience in the same base of genre must bring out something really new and improved, right?

The Play style - Dark Souls 3 with more anime weapon arts. Some Enemies and Bosses require a specific way to play.
Weapons - There are over 300 weapons and 70 spells. How many do you need? How many of them are useful? How many do you test of the usefulness?
Animations, enemy and player models - every previous souls game (not bosses). And that's for real. Recycling at its finest.
    Crafting - forgettable
Story - forgettable. Very good idea, to bring to the Shakespearean cryptic story more of the same.
The chosen one going to kill or speak or interact with great ones like Miquella, Millicent, melina, miriel and rennala, renna, ranni and gowry, godwyn, godfry and morgott, mogh.
Remember Nito? Or Gwyn? Why do they make so much nonsense-people to forget about?
Then again, why should I care about the Story or Plot? The intro Scene is getting worse every Souls game, more cryptic and less care to make the plot interesting.
The open world - the Art style is more like High Fantasy. I expected to see elves and dwarves dancing around rainbows. And it didn't get better. No more Dark Fantasy than, I guess.
The open world itself is useless. I wouldn't call it empty, but it's more empty than previous titles.
It's boring to discover the same enemies in another color.
It's boring to ride around without a real destination. "But there is a destination, check the map!" Sure, but why do I need to have an open world then. Why not make smaller Areas with more detail. Even the "story areas" in this game have fewer details than the predecessor

I stop here. There are games (ubi-titles, cod, battlefield and so on) which got bashed because of the redundancy. Right so, I guess. But why not does anybody even mention it for the Souls games.

In this game there are the same negatives since demon souls: Camera sucks, Hit boxes sucks, all the same fighting styles (hit, block, dodge, cast spell) animations, graphically PS3, bad quest lines (if you miss a quest line or a NPC at the right time, your fault) and still nothing is shown or explained properly. I do not care if you are a hardcore fan, an option to turn tips on or off is not a negative thing and will nothing take away of the way you experience the game.
At least they worked on the very best part in every Soul's game: the platforming. Now there is a special jump button which make the char jump. And the horse. Super Mario at its best.

So, I had no fun playing this game. It was just too big and redundant and unimportant.
I still love playing Bloodborne somehow, even it has the same old flaws every souls game have

But If that's the future of gaming and a masterpiece, I am out.

    There's a huge But.
It crossed the line which separates a challenging, yet fun, game, from a painful and frustrating experience.
After 105 hours I'm sick of being stunlocked by everything, from floor damage to arrows, even when wearing a Scale Armor.
I'm sick that every type of enemy, even dragons, keep jumping around like ninjas.
I'm sick of the near-infinite enemy combos that end up with a dodge or backstep /repeat.
I'm sick of the constant need of using an overall artificial difficulty which is nowhere near to the concept of Fun.

Games like WOW took hours, sometimes days to down a boss in a raid but there was always some juicy gear that dropped and had to be rolled on. You don't get that with this game at all. I cleared an entire camp that took me around 3 hours of stealth killing, running away, trying different tactics only to get something that my class of character can't even use. I killed a mob of 5 wolves and got a few bones from two of the wolves that I used to make one arrow out of. What's the point of putting a bow an arrow in the game if you never have arrows or have to grind 10 hours to get a quiver. Just senseless difficulty. Just a genuine torture to play. Game has no true content it just bogs the player down with senseless grinding.

The story is so silly and half baked, it feels like a teenager wrote the script. The graphics are laughable in 2022. And it's not a true open world game.

I figured with Martin penning the game's story it would be rather grand involving political intrigue and riveting tales of man's inner folly. Having grown up on D&D and CRPGs I expected to have a fair idea of what I was getting into.

Much to my surprise, I found a vast open world filled with nothing to do. I created my character to wander around some lifeless void. Oh, it looks rather grand the art direction is quite phenomenal though the textures muddied and the game is plagued with pop-ins as well. I am able to forgive the occasional jank for a good and true RPG. I however did not find one in this game. I'm not sure what constitutes for an RPG these days amongst the general public, but generally it's a game with roleplaying options of which this game seems to have none other than building your character's stats and skills.

All problems are solved through this game's languid, ponderous, and clunky combat. No non-combat or social options in this supposed RPG. The exploration as as dull and lifeless as the world in which it inhabits. Some scant crafting materials to create some mediocre items with minimal stat gains. Undoubtedly the usual carrot and the stick seen in the MMO sphere influenced this trash itemization.

The dungeons were quite interesting and a more linear experience and I killed Margit after ten or twelve tries. The game's molasses combat was made even more frustrating due to the various technical issues that plague this supposed RPG (Hint it's not an RPG it's just combat pornography) Your character's hitboxes are far too large causing the enemies to strike you frequently when you're clearly outside of their swing radius. There's also numerous frame rate drops making the game's sole feature of combat extremely difficult since the technical execution of the developers lack of talent is holding you back further than the difficulty of the game is.

All in all this game is not an RPG, there are no roleplaying options. It's just combat pornography for the youth's violent masturbatory sadist rituals. If you have any class avoid this buggy mess like the plague it is and cast it into the fire! I for one got a full refund from my local gamestore, but I hope to save others the expense. We all know this game doesn't deserve a perfect score.

The whole open world thing is just lame, maybe suitable for 2010.
