Effie is, without any doubt, one of the best games that has come out of the PlayStation Talents initiative. A full-fledged adventure, with platform, action and puzzles that, apart from being fun and entertaining, has a unique visual style that sets it apart from the rest. Pity that the camera and the control in the combat is not a better film.

If you're a fan of 3D platformers then you'll absolutely love Effie. It's one of the most satisfying games that I've played this year so far.

A great indie platform puzzler with distinctive graphics and a compelling gameplay hook. Recommended despite a few niggles.

Effie is good 3D Platformer that left me with a big smile on face. The Red Plains are a beautiful location to explore, especially given that you have an awesome hoverboard to do it with. The combat does hold it back a bit but the overall package is one that fans of 3D Platformers should definitely experience.

With its benefits and shortcomings, Inverge Studios puts on our table a game that old school players will love; However, we cannot stop asking a little more for a title launched for the present generation. Effie is an entertaining game, yes, but if you're not a true lover of games like this, you'll end up getting bored soon. However, it is still an interesting proposal that more than one will leave hooked to the first.

I enjoyed Effie a lot, mainly because it reminded me of playing games in my youth. Exploring and completing little challenges is fun and rewarding. That's what games should be shouldn't they? Rewarding and fun. A few technical issues aside, if you are looking for an old-school platforming title with quite a bit of gameplay variation then look no further, Effie is a fun game to play.

If Effie’s combat and camera were a little more tightly refined and its open world a little more full of interesting content, the game would be a real winner. As it stands, Effie is fun and charming, and its flaws and frustrations don’t entirely ruin the experience. There is no shortage of 3D puzzle platform games in the world, but Effie stands out as a colorful and vibrantly realized translation of a fairly tale come to life.

Effie isn't the most complex action-adventure-platformer out there, and it isn't the most challenging. In this case, the lack of these features actually work well, as Effie delivers on a game where simplicity and nostalgia fuel a desire to continue playing. The game in its entirety is very short, but it definitely is one of the child friendly games that should be on the top of the list for younger gamers and new recruits to the genre.

If you’re a 3D platforming addict who needs a fill right now and you’ve played everything else, it may be enough to fill the time, but otherwise, it feels like there are plenty of other games you could be playing instead.

Effie is good 3D platforming adventure, although quite easy and not very charismatic. It’s a good option for less experienced players or those who really miss this type of game and have already played all the main alternatives.

Effie is a 3D puzzle platformer with a strong nod to games of yesteryear. Simple combat as well as a lack of any real challenge and samey boss fights make it a title best suited to a younger audience.

Effie is worth more for its artistic value than its ‘product’ value because, even if it feels like a true adventure with good puzzles, platforms and aesthetics, it doesn’t have the same quality in terms of gameplay and content, reducing its proposal to a bad game, but a good experience.

A solid, yet bland 3d platformer.

Effie draws inspiration from action/platformers of the past, ands in that respect it is in a position to deliver some enjoyable afternoon sessions. But that's about it. The combat is rather boring, the story mediocre and it never tries to do something new.

As long as you're platforming, you'll have a good time. Start fighting, however, and you'll immediately notice the clumsy combat and weak boss fights. Combine both aspects of the game and the result is a mixed bag.

The vision of reconciling nuances of more recent 3D action-adventure titles with well-loved elements from adored classics is undeniably a heartwarming one. There’s great enjoyment to be had in playing through this nostalgic nod to the past, but the lacking presence of a challenge truly robs Effie of its oomph. Simplistic puzzles and brainless brawling almost completely eliminate any real sense of gratification or accomplishment. This is most certainly a game better suited for those who don’t appreciate being staggered by more intense difficulties, or a younger gamer seeking a vibrant, spellbinding world to frolic in.

Effie is a decent traditional third person platformer, but could have been so much more. Perhaps we’ve been spoiled in recent years, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that Effie could have been elevated if it had tied the interesting backstory to the game mechanics or development in some way. As it stands, the narrative is totally removed from the game itself and this makes it feel old-fashioned in the wrong sort of way. Not a disaster but a missed opportunity.

It's not a big game (AAA), just an indie development that has taken advantage of the fact that there are currently no games of this genre. It took me 7 hours to complete the story, but these kind of games usually have this duration. Platforming is fun, the combat pretty simple and the puzzles are made for players of all ages. Surfing along the red plains is very comfortable and the story is the hook to keep the player focused on this fantasy world. Full Review »

Effie is a 5 hour long 3d Platformer where you play as Galand, a man whos youth was stolen from him by a witch
You set out to defeat her and reverse her spell…
The story is kinda cheesy, but this is the charm of the game.. its cute, it warms your heart as a dad tells his daughter the story of this hero..
He narrates as you play and it just such a sweet idea
Its not capitalized as well as it could be, but I still appreciate it…
Everything surrounding the story and set up is pretty eh
its fun to play, just not really anything special…
Theres a woods hub area that you can hover around on your shield and explore, go to optional areas for some trophies, but the main goal is for you to get a shard in all 3 of the main areas…
to do so youll have to battle and 3d platform you way to a bunch of keys…
The 3d platforming, level design, fighting.. all of it is very mediocre, but still enjoyable…
In battle youll unlock new moves as the story progresses but its basically light attack, heavy attack, blocking and special attacks…
Defeating enemies and collecting the rune stones round this map ewards you with xp that levels you up to increase your special attack bar as well as health…
the level design its self, again fairly standard.. you can double jump, grab ledges and long jump..
Again nothing special but still enjoyable…
This is just overall a nostalgia trip, everything is fairly linear so you don’t get lost, but at the same time you feel so free to explore, reminding me a bit of Jak II
IF you wished JAk II was much smaller, less polished, and way easier this is it…
definitely worth playing for 3d platforming fans, but not something you need to absolutely play
    I give Effie
    a 6/10

Nettes kleines 3D-Action-Adventure. Schaut okay aus und macht Spaß. Geht auch nicht zu lange. Technisch manchmal ausbaufähig.
