    Game is genuinely terrible the fact that this game got a 79 shows that critics dont put any effort into their reviews or are EA shills. Broken game mechanics, spamming in ranked, bugs, and missing fighters are just a few of the problems in this game. This game is 100% the worst AAA game ive ever played its a broken mess.     Initially the game is quite fun when booting it up and playing for the the first few hours. The fighters look great and animations for moves are as better as ever.

    The career mode is a move in the right direction compared to recent instalments, however most of it is just filler and becomes really repetitive.     Create a fighter is easy to use and you can be as in depth or ridiculous as you want it to be. The fight now matches are typical ones you’d expect and have featured before. K.O mode is your typical fighter mode with each fighter having a health bar and going best out of three similar to your Tekken or MK games. The extra modes again just seem bland and like they are there to fill some space however I’m sure some people will find joy out of them.

    Gameplay wise there are some improvements, however the ground game isn’t exactly tweaked as they may have advertised. There’s just simply been an assist option, whilst this makes it easier to transition on the ground by giving you three options, it also makes it a lot easier and more predictable for opponents to counter transitions. This is the area of the game that still needs work the most.

    The submission system has improved once you figure out how to use it properly as the game doesn’t do the best job of explaining it to you.

    The game in its current form does feature a game breaking bug, occasionally when loading into online fights, ranked, blitz etc, the character select background screen will basically takeover the screen and impede you from seeing the fight your taking part in. This became extremely frustrating as it extended to every mode of the game.

    Overall it’s a fun experience that looks good and is enjoyable but still feels lacking in some areas of the game. Career mode has taken a step in the right direction and hopefully they can further improve on that in future instalments
    If online is where you spend most of your time, you’ll be really disappointed. Best not to pick this one up until the purple screen bug is fixed for this one    … Expand

    Typical EA cut and paste. The last game came out in January of 2018 and all you could add is 15-20 new fighters? There are top ranked guys in their weight classes that are not in the game. UFC undisputed 3 came out 8 years ago and EA still can’t make a game that beats the game play. The gameplay sucks on this one. Take downs are unstoppable and the animations are pretty bad compared to EATypical EA cut and paste. The last game came out in January of 2018 and all you could add is 15-20 new fighters?     I'm a huge MMA fan and have been for over for 20 years. I've played almost every MMA game and get them the day they're released with hopes I won't be disappointed.

    I thought EA ufc 1 was a step back from Undipusted 3 but that's to be expected since it was their first one. UFC 2 was better but UFC 3 was a step back and UFC 4 is yet another step back.     I wasn’t exactly enjoying the game at launch with the amount of micro-transactions making it feel like the free-to-play mobile version. I am disgusted at the addition of advertisements in game which were not present at launch or in reviews. This is a cheap cash grab by EA and I will endeavour to get a refund as this was not in the product I initially purchased.

    This is the worst UFC game so far, actually this is the worst sports game so far. Animal heads, stupid clothing, backyard fighting. all things that are not in the actual UFC. EA strikes again with another buggy, unfinished, rushed out piece of crap. They are incapable of creating anything decent anymore. I'm done with the series until they find another company to make their games

I feel sorry for the people who actually put months of effort into the game only to have its reputation destroyed by EA’s scummy, penny pinching decision.     This is the biggest back-step I have ever played in a combat sports game. I love fighting games. I love the classics like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Tekken, but I am also a big fan of combat sports. I always have an MMA, boxing, or kickboxing game in my rotation.

    I played the trial for this game and the beta and I thought it was dreadful and for the first time in well over a decade, I had zero intentions of purchasing this game. Well, my birthday just passed and what do you know, my girlfriend got me it as a gift. She paid $70 for the heap of garbage. I felt awful. I legitimately attempted to return it. When I was unable to, I gave her back the $70 she spent on this game. I would struggle to pay $15 for this game when it's inevitably on sale in a month or two, nevermind full price.

    EA has decided to go full TEKKEN with this "simulation" game and they did a dreadful job. It is embarrassing how clunky and luck-based a UFC game feels. The stamina exploits, the ground exploits, the clinch exploits, this game is next to unplayable - especially for online play.

    They have removed modes from previous entries and given us a relatively barebones selection. Career mode is uninteresting as it always is, fight now is fight now but they added backyard fights and kumite fights. They act like these two new venues are gamechangers. No. They arel iterally just that; new venues. It changes literally nothing about the game except in the backyard you have more vibrant lighting and in the kumite you have a wannabe Mortal Kombat announcer throwing out some sound effects.

    Something as basic as Online World Championships has been messed up. Stat tracking is barely there, making it feel like every game is an unranked throwaway, and EA has even removed the option of picking what weight class you wanna compete in. There is around ten divisions with (mostly) different fighters in every division. Have a division/fighter you like to play in/use? Well too bad, you will play in that division when EA decides to let you play in that division.

    This game is pathetic and the devs have proven that they don't give a damn about the consumer or the UFC product as a whole.

    EA UFC 1 was pretty bad, but EA UFC 2 was a respectable improvement. EA UFC 3 was an undeniable step-up from 2 gameplay wise, but imo it was less fun due to the sameness in the knockout animations. UFC 2 has those animations on-point. But there's no denying the gameplay changes made 3 a better game. Not only is EA UFC 4 a downgrade from 3 - it's also a downgrade from 2. And it's barely better than EA UFC 1.

    The most damning thing is that THQ/Yukes made the perfect MMA game a decade ago in UFC Undisputed 3. They perfected the ground game and it felt like a genuinely competitive and fun MMA sim. They nailed it. Now, here we are in 2020, where EA UFC 4 has a ground game that is legitimately worse than the ground game seen in UFC games that released around 2003/2004. It is pathetic.

    What makes this even worse is that EA themselves made a better MMA game than EA UFC 4 around the same time that Undisputed 3 came out. They made a competitor to that series with EA Sports MMA and that was seriously a better game than what they are releasing in modern times.

    It is pathetic and I hope they lose the license to these games - like yesterday. I was one of many clamoring for EA to make a new Fight Night and this game has made me not even want that. With what they've done to these games let's just leave the boxing genre alone. I don't want you guys to do a disservice to the last good sports game the company made, that being Fight Night Champion in 2011.

    The champions do not walk out with their belts. Therefore, Dana White will not put the belt around your waist. The belt is literally invisible but the game will mention you as the champ. The block is extremely weak. People can easily break your block by spamming hooks.     The stamina is terrible. You can literally gas in 1 round fighting with the likes of Khabib, Covington, Usman, ect. I seen some guys lose up to 40 percent stamina in a round.

    Armbars are too hard to escape. You get literally get subbed with full health and stamina. I tried to take my time during armbar submissions but it didn't work. A video game should not be this hard to play.

    Lastly, they should give people the opportunity to throw combinations with the. I analog sticks. I find fighting with the analog sticks to be more fluid and easier. They should just let another company take over if they refuse to make improvements.    … Expand

    A big supposed aim of the development team was to not alienate new players by imposing simpler controls, with these controls being literally just changing the names of transitions on the ground, which is optional anyway. The standup controls have been changed by using different inputs involving holding down certain buttons. This was not only a very unnecessary change, but it also means that whenever I try to throw a lead body hook, I can instead more often find myself going for a single power leg takedown, which will more than likely just be very easily denied. Additionally, the stand-up severely lacks the excitement you felt when trading strikes in the previous entries, with each strike seeming to have little impact, and leaving you underwhelmed. Furthermore, there is no drive to make you explore fighters to see which best fits your play style, with only the top 5 of the division ever being seen on online matches due to their higher stats.

    The weakest of the gameplay mechanics has always been seen as the ground game, which personally I though was great, but still needed a few changes to keep it exciting, but this game has made it somehow worse to play, with the ground and pound being either overpowered or ineffective whatsoever. The worst change comes with the popular Create A Fighter feature, which has been so dumbed down that it's not fun or rewarding on any level. You can no longer control stats, perks, OR moves for created fighters. Given that CAFs are the primary way most players spend their time in these games, this is a huge mistake. Not being able to customize your moveset is an absurd limitation. It results in every single CAF being essentially identical. They've replaced this meaningful customization system with a generic template system. They seem to think that the newly ridiculous and cartoonish appearance options (stupid hats, anime hair, various clothing items) will make up for this. It doesn't come close. What made UFC 3 enjoyable was the deep levels of customization, being able to create characters with unique move sets, stats, and perks. Now this feature is useless, and the game with it.     The presentation has barely changed since UFC 1, which is massively concerning. Fighters don’t walk out to their correct music, most of them correct props or correct routine. How you can justify having Connor McGregor, the game’s biggest name, not walk out to Foggy Dew and Notorious, is criminal.

    The gameplay is terribly mediocre. The striking is ok, and that’s about as good as it gets... it doesn’t feel satisfying like EA’s fight night series used to. The clinch and grappling... well... it’s a complete lottery. It’s random, it makes no sense, and there’s no technique required to do anything. It’s a complete mess.

    Don’t buy this game until it half’s in price. I pray that another developer gets the license.    … Expand

I've had 32 fights in the UFC now, and it keeps telling    I'm a huge career mode player, so when the news broke out you would be able to create rivalries from anywhere, I was excited. The changes EA showcased were welcomed, and I preordered it immediately.

    However, what I did find was certainly not that. After the initial starting point with the few cutscenes, it's a bore from that point. I've had 32 fights in the UFC now, and it keeps telling me a rivalry has started, but nothing ever happens. It's an endless bore of sparring and then fighting. Which I get is the core part and for that and the gameplay, it does it well. But career mode is trash. UFC 3's was much better, and didn't have to spend a stupid amount of time between fights.

    Unfortunately UFC 4 seems to have taken a different approach from UFC 3 which was based on simulation and fun.

    UFC 4 disrespects the sport and feels as if the budget was lower for the game than previous titles, perhaps the budget was lower due to poor sales.

    The Dev team have some serious work ahead of them to fix this, gameplay mechanics and animations need the most work.

    LEAVE CANNED KO ANIMATIONS IN THE PS2 era the game has ZERO variety when every knockout is 1 out of the 5 same animations bring back rag doll Kos. Fighters in different weight classes don’t react the same way. The graphics seem like they took a step backwards and there appears to be input lag with the attacks. This game looks and feels like a Beta.

Because my expectations was beyond that I was hoping the game could be more than a game that you only fight against others. Well unfortunately UFC 4 is not much different although not ultimately bad either. It makes you create a fighter directly and you starting to career - not that different from the other games in the UFC franchise even the tattoos are similar to last years game, I mean the little details matter when you are entering into the 4th iteration of a potential on a global scale as there’s not any other worldwide sports venues that consistently have spawned in the fashion of UFC, even boxing as popular as it was in past years fans ultimately look for the next best thing in line with the events they enjoy. Although it's still fun to play but I can't say UFC 4 is amazingly so different than UFC 3 if you ask me to be completely honest and take the gloves off. The offline offerings include one-off fights in traditional MMA, Stand and Bang, and Knockout mode (with a new health-bar system that mirrors that of traditional fighting games), as well as custom events and tournaments. However, the destination for offline play is career mode. This year’s career starts off more cinematic, as you work closely with your head coach to learn how to fight, rack up some wins. I do enjoy an immersive experience and making the jump to the professional circuit and beyond always leaves a satisfied feeling for me. While I have to say this the KnockOut mode is nothing but purely Mortal Kombat styled
    mode added and for a moment I thought Is this the future of the Franchise that rose up from the ashes as a worldwide success. It seemed more like a mini game they chose to throw in instead of polishing on the games overall polish and expanding beyond the offline career mode. Hey maybe take it to the next level and provide an environment that’s open globally for all to compete for world wide rankings and a true ranking of ones skill, ALA Toughest Fighter, I am truly excited for the next generation of gaming and I think UFC4 could have just been an example of what to expect at the end of a console generation a solid game that doesn’t really do anything wrong without breaking what has worked to date, next year we should really begin to see some of these franchises move in the direction of promising futures or possibly continue on the same path. At the end of the day if you’re a fan, heck yes it’s a must have. This game is far from a let down it’s just my desire to see the UFC franchise rise much as when I play WWE games, sometimes I wish I could plug in an N64 controller and play today’s games with the control and immersive experience these games delivered on a much less powerful platform with greater results. Only time will tell us the future so for now pick up a solid priced UFC4 and throw down just don’t expect a complete overhaul until we get our hands on UFC5.    … Expand

    1. clinching deny doesn't exist, meaning opponent can relentlessly exploit it till you are out of stamina, or gaining pts,
    2. submission are so easy you just hold down L2 R2 and your will get the win guaranteed, even when you are short on stamina, if anything just do it again since there there's no punishment or proper counter.
    3. Take down defense nearly doesn't exist, there's only 1 take down defense command but nearly impossible to pull off, and the take down offense in comparison doesn't take 2 brain cell to execute.
    4. broken striking system, massive input delay still there, and 20% your strike won't register in the most critical moment.
    So there you have it, another year, another failed low quality EA SPORTS product raid on UFC license. and still average 3.5/10 out of user reviews.    … Expand

    I regret buying this game. I usually stay in Career mode, and this game was supposed to have more focus there. It's career mode is actually worse than the previous game. Dabbling online I found it was more effective to just throw hooks and power moves without regard for stamina because the game is overly generous with stamina consumption.     Still, team EA sports still fail to grasp the most basic principle in any online fighting games: if a move/system is too easy to spam and be effective, then it's better to add a counter or punishment mechanic when they fail, or you gonna have a spam feast. 4 UFC games after and they still implement all these low IQ moves and keep spammed by every high rank guys online. that's why ranked matched is infested with piggy back spammer, clinching spammer, take down spammer because these moves don't take 2 brain cell to execute and nearly impossible to defend against, and you know what's the best part? they can all be spammed over and over even when you get out with hard effort.

    Could've easly been an update to UFC 3, PS3 Graphics and animations, striking feels like two cotton stuffed puppets hitting each others.
    What really makes me sick is the fact that they didn't care about developing a game that simulates the overall UFC experience, they went with a clown fiesta instead.
    This game is so poor that looks like it's been developed in one year.

    EA sports created a downgraded version of UFC 3, The only thing in UFC 4 i liked is that it has new fighters, such as Yan, Santos, Reyes and so on. This game has real problems with not having a tutorial for the new keypad. Wrestling is much more effective in this game than striking. it effects on the game balance. Grappling has also seen a significant dumbing down so the casuals don't have to have any form of skill, legacy grappling mode somewhat compensates for this.The only improvement to this game is career mode. Having played this game and being a semi professional fighter in real life, I think this game is pretty bad, especially compared to ufc 3. ufc 3 has better dynamics when it comes to grappling, now ufc 4’s dynamics for grappling rank some of the worst the franchise has ever boasted, I was so excited for this game in hope it would mend some of the failures ufc 3 had from comparison to Mixed Martial Arts and video games, the ufc 4 striking dynamic is also worse, you could throw a jab, straight, punch And your opponent will move backwards and no matter what, the kick can be in his head, the kick will not land, disappointing game. I expect better out of ea, always a fan of the UFC hoping that one day they care to mend things like this but it’s just a game, so if they don’t, who cares… Expand

    At this stage, the worst UFC game from both EA and THQ. GnP is trash. Barely any new fighters. You rarely actually run out of stamina and can land like 100+ punches a round without getting tired. The game is very gimmicky and seems to be aimed at people who like tekken rather than actual fighting

    My score is 0. Game really sucks, coz:
    1. No game face.
    2. Made it harder to fight and easier to choke. now, you don't need to have any skills to make a strangulation.
    3. Boring career.
    4. Meaningless customization

    Nothing new. And for this you ask for a full price ?
    I agree, for the dlc for ufc 3, but it's not a new game! It's just awful

    Not enough has changed since UFC 3 career mode is basically the same a boring grind of constant sparring to get your fitness up. The coach aspect is just a few cutscenes that don't add up to a meaningful story. It's not a bad game just feels very similar to UFC 3 and not enough of an improvement after 2 years development.

They removed the ability to change custom fighters moves and stats. All there is are presets. It’s baffling. If it was possible to get a refund I would.     Full of gliches, cannot create a created fighter, blue screen online and cannot fight, career is same with few new cutscenes, fucus is on cafs but like said cannot create it nor it has depth to it. Really disapointed and I feel like those developers do not even watch UFC nor MMA.

    Online customization is way down on this game compared to the others. Preset classes/move sets you can't change and no custom option on online modes. Can't use your career mode fighter moveset online either. No ultimate fighter mode either which is one of the main reasons I bought the game. Oh well, should've done my research first.

    How do EA constantly get away with releasing rushed, unfinished games? I haven’t been able to play a single ranked match yet due to screen glitches. Zero passion and effort have also went in to the offline modes. Career mode is basically the same as UFC 3 except they added more menus and sparring.

    I haven’t been able to play online due to the ‘purple screen of death’. This is a major glitch affecting majority of players in Oceania region. Game is riddled with bugs. In my opinion UFC 3 is light years a head of this game and UFC 3 is considered a bare bones game. At least in UFC 3 the online worked and you could choose the weight class.     In spite of sporadic issues with the controls and the monetization model, UFC 4 is a great fighter, even if one bases it solely on the expansive career mode. As I currently celebrate my first championship title and defending it, I wholeheartedly recommend this one, not only to fans of the sport, but to anyone looking for their next fighting game fix.
