    I was happy to play this game, and I actually enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite by any means, but it was enjoyable minus a few bugs. However, EA is the scum of the earth and just wants to squeeze money anywhere they can. I'm actually ashamed to buy this game. I'm convinced EA would buy sweatshops if they could. Screw EA. Screw monetization and screw ufc 4.

Why the hell did I just knock someone down online 16 times before I knocked him out? The wrestling is way overpowered this game is a disaster!     I’ve played every ufc game since thq ufc 2009 undisputed. This game is a complete waste of money. Do not buy it the online is a mess. The ground game is very one sided and limited. The striking is a mess and all over the place. There’s nothing competitive about it. The submission systems make no sense at all. Save your money do not buy this game!!

    Putting ads in middle of game after initially release so when it gets reviewed they don’t add the advertisements to the review and pretty much same game as previous games

    Glitchy game. We need EA to step it up game is not worth 60$ what’s the point of spending $60 on an unfinished product if their game gets better when the price drops cause the game only gets better when they update it and that’s not till December when the game price drops.

    I have to say EA has scammed the people who bought this game including me. One of the coolest things in past UFC games you could create a fighter and making him/her unique not just with looks but with their stats and which places they are good in but here the only unique part is the looks and not only that the clothes are so stupid and immersion braking. Have you ever seen a ufc match with a guy wearing a lion head with Gucci pants and a glowing top ? No people who bought this game want immersion and to feel like this is the closest thing you can get to experiencing the ufc without actually being in the cage and it fails with the immersion. And not only that they removed stats so you don’t get to choose with moves with the freedom the other games have you, you choose a class and that means your fighter isn’t even unique because everyone has the option to change the style before the fight. The game is supper buggy and anyone who played the game for an hour can witness a humongous amount of bugs and glitches and if you don’t experience bugs you will for sure experience you getting smashed in by a clinch spamming 20 Devision fighter, the clinch is so broken, you can’t even block some shots when you try to leave it so not only you get punished for not ducking the clinch you also get punished for trying to not get clinched spammed. Plus there is no hud, so new players, good luck cause it’s gonna feel like you are taking an exams and not revising at all. Mindless changes is another thing like why change the take down buttons that mix with the body punches, the amount of times I went for a takedown and got countered with a submission is unbelievable, there is so many buttons that are the same for punches/ kicks which can make you throw the wrong move and boom you are on the canvas while your opponent is doing the renegade ( this is a joke but the emotes are absolutely pathetic, who asked for them?). No changes to the ground game is bad, I get that it might be hard to improve up on it but could of gave us new animations or more realistic transitions like in the clinch? Why the clinch and not ground game? Another thing is that some of the fighters don’t even look like what they actually should be, for example Kamaru usman, he looks kinda skinny and not buff, he’s probably the most buff guy in the welterweight devision right now and many other fighters have big heads. Career is an improvement but damn they are good at advertising, cause half of the features die out in the end of the career, you still gonna be fighting old fighters like wayyy old fighters or just random no names which I don’t know which is worse, you can’t call out fighters by yourself, they have to say something to you before or someone has to mention something about your opponent so then you can comment, that’s so lazy otherwise career is decent but maybe just a little too long to an extent but a big improvement on ufc 3’s. Adding irl ads into a game is just brain dead and that’s what they did instead of fixing the game because that is definitely what we want and they definitely want to immerse us with all the epic Gucci, and lion head clothing in the game... yeah no, they just want money and the ads were added for like a week and only they removed them when there was a lot of game articles about it and did the classic PR bull***. Stamina doesn’t drain fast enough and everyone has the toughest of thanos or something cause you can knock someone 8 times in the span of one round and they’ll probably survive and the scoring if things go to a decision is atrocious I’ve seen dozen of score cards that had a clear better performance and had nothing better then the other opponent but yet still won, like what you can just stun someone 12 times, throw 203 strikes, 2 body health events, 1 leg health event and 67 significant strikes and still loose. Overall this game can be better then UFC 3 but is it ? No definitely not, the game is £60 but should be £25-£30 tops, well that’s at least what I’m seeing from my experience and I’ve been playing since launch, I do think EA will make it into a good game, but in 2 or 3 years, so wait until it’s 60 or even 70% off otherwise you’re gonna waste your money like Me and thousands of other people that bought the game. ( the score would have been 4 but the fact they added ads into a game and did nothing about it when the community was saying so much until articles were published about it takes away 2 points, pathetic, there should be a feature where you pay half the price if the game is not finished but somehow ea would rig that as well).… Expand

    Cons: UFC 4 is a re-released, inferior version of UFC 3, which in turn is an inferior version of UFC 2. I paid $60+ for what is essentially an alpha version of a game. At this point, buying EA games is like staying in an abusive relationship. I should know better, but they took control of everything I enjoy (NFL, UFC, Soccer) so I'm stuck.

    This is the last time I paid for the ea, a buggy mess and no improvements from last game. New arenas lile backyard and kumite are not selectable in online even if it is a private match. Just drop the license for gods sake.

    Striking is slow stuck in the mud and doesn't flow. The grappling is broken, it tries to be simple but is needlessly complicated in some areas. For instance to block body knees in the clinch it's RT+LT however when against the cage it changes to lest stick towards opponent underhill to block knees

    I think this game is good.If you play thru the career mode you can unlock all of the locked characters.I also like how you have more control over the training.I’m not saying the game is perfect but its not as bad as people say . Sure the animations are bad . The knockout look fake ,but its still a fun game.

The abuse from these huge companies the deeper we get into the future is just agregious. Not gonna buy it until they do something about changing kits in every mode I don't care how picky that sounds it is absolutely annoying to see every single fighter wear the same color kit all the time. Every other game allowed it and doesn't make sense. Lots of missing fighters especially those within top 15 of weight class's. I don't expect Khamzat that quickly but not even Amanda Ribas or Vicente Luke?? They've been involved for some time and in big fights. All Women's weight classes virtually empty. Graphics definitely took a hit and many player models look OFF. SAM ALVEY THE WORST! Cody Garbrahnt 2nd worst. UFC 3 models look perfect in comparison. I do like making your own fight card and presence of titles on roster and tournament mode with all the different options (Though I haven't actually played those modes yet) Fighting itself seems like it hasn't changed much and tbh kinda worse and frustrating to get a flurry combo going like with Masvidal. Really slow. But no way this game gets my money or time until they at least allow you to change Kits for everyone including customization. Can we get some more arenas? It's 2020 supposedly we are in "next gen"? Disappointing trial weekend. was looking forward to upgrading as a fight fan but no way EA..… Expand

    Enough said by anyone else. This is a poor excuse for a "sequel." It's legit the same game, with DC as an announcer. EA used to be my favorite game studio. From Madden, NBA Live, Battlefield, Need for Speed, among many others. All these franchises are trash now.

    Changed the system completely from the last one and it just doesn’t work, the game seems alien and is very inconsistent, you can’t choose your own weight class in ranked matches which is just weird and very annoying, match making is beyond bad, compared to UFC 3 this is levels below it.

It's not as repetitive and you don't get bored after 5 mins of playing. Not to mention, it's really unrealistic since you can be a champ and fight like a guy no. 7 or you can be a contender no. 5, you beat the top contender, but you don't even move up in the rankings. The bad thing is the actual fighting... The BLOCKING SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY BROKEN, pretty much all you have to do is to spam a jab jab straight combo to break your opponents defense and then you can just kick him in the head to end the fight. If you're a fan of the sport like me, and you're used to more slow-paced fights. Then don't buy this ****
    The core gameplay is more like mortal combat than it is an actual sport... The damage system is also pretty much mortal combat, your opponent can throw anything, you counter him with a perfect hook or an overhand, but it doesn't do anything to him.. cuz why not.
    The stamina stuff is also another **** In UFC 3 for example, it was really realistic, so you couldn't throw strikes like a madman and your stamina would be gone quickly. In UFC 4 however... At least from my experience, you can kick, throw strikes, everything like in a anime fighting game, and your stamina would the same as your opponents for some reason... The ground game is really not a huge improvement also. All they added was that you can throw both hooks and straights on the ground, which makes it pain in the ass to defend against. The new submission system is also not bad, even tho I feel like it's too hard to submit someone even if they don't have any stamina left. Don't recommend it, if you really wanna buy it, then wait for a sale and get it for around 10-20 bucks. You better just watching the real sport instead.    … Expand

    Fighters are almost indestructible, they don’t easily get tired and it feels like I’m playing Mormal Kombat, not an mma game. I wish I had read user reviews before paying for this garbage! Reviews of critics are just RIDICULOUS! They either didn’t even bother to play it, or they were payed off by EA to say nice things about it. Really, shame on you all!!! EA, congratulations! You killed the franchise!
    Sadly I can’t return it, because of crappy PlayStation politics! I should be able to return a game after trying it only for an hour or two. I’m no longer be buying digital games from PlayStation store!

    Never played a UFC game before and never will again. Thank god I got it on PS+ instead of paying $60 like I almost did…

    The most stiff and lifeless game I’ve ever played. Literally everything outside of the actual fights feels like it was done with bare minimum effort, and the fights themselves will cure insomnia.

I've been playing these fighting since Dreamcast UFC. my favorite part of these games is the ability to customize your fighter's fight style and abilities. These influncers neglected to tell us that EA decided to take away the ability to use you customized fighter online or even in fighnow..     Cons:
    —EA has needlessly gimped and streamlined the gameplay. Clinching is absolutely gutted and many of the transitions have been removed. Elbows on the ground are gone and so are parries. The range on hooks and elbows on the feet is extremely short, you pretty much have to be chest to chest with the opponent to land them and there is no effective way of closing the distance other than just swaying forward and praying your opponent doesn't move an inch backwards.

    There is also this **** weird 0.5-1 second delay on all your actions which makes countering almost impossible.

    —Create A Fighter has been ABSOLUTELY GUTTED. It's a complete joke now. Instead of using EA Gameface to make a very realistic and accurate version of yourself, you're now forced to pick between about 50 preset faces who all look like Orc and Goblin rejects from the last Middle-Earth game.

    You can no longer control every aspect of your fighter's stats like in previous games. You're now forced to use this garbage "Archetype" system where you're forced into picking a generic, cardboard stereotype instead of making your own fighter with their own unique strengths and weaknesses.

    —The AI is a joke. On easy and normal they're complete garbage. On Hard difficulty (and above) everyone turns into Israel Adesanya, They react to and counter any and all moves you make with absolutely insane accuracy, no matter how well you set them up. On top of that, they have a never-ending pool of stamina and will never go below your level of fatigue no matter how high their output is or how much damage they've taken.

    —The fighter stats don't make a lick of sense. It's clear that EA have never watched some of the fighters on the roster. Tyron Woodley's takedown defense and cardio is off the charts. Ben Askren's overall striking is 3x as good as it should be. GSP is ranked as 4-stars when objectively and vastly inferior fighters like Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards are ranked as 4.5 stars. These are just a few examples, there are hundreds more.

    —Customization makes absolutely no sense considering the UFC's EXTREMELY strict and stringent rules for apparel. But that could've been forgiven if this game actually had a semi-decent way of acquiring the customizations.

    ALL of these customizations like clothing, emotes and taunts are locked behind thousands of ”Gold coins” which you earn at small increments on a day to day basis by completing small challenges like ”Throw 500 strikes” or ”Win 3 fights as a Boxer-style fighter”. You earn like 200 gold a day and most cool items in the game cost upwards of 3-4000 coins EACH, Meaning you can either grind away for weeks on end to buy 1 single item or you can buy them with real money.

    There is however a leveling system in the game which gives you a very small but completely random selection of items upon reaching a new level + some gold coins but these are still not enough. I'm level 35 by now and I can only afford like 5-6 items because the reward in coins is infuriatingly low.

    —The final nail in the coffin: Career mode. It's **** garbage. It's a direct downgrade from UFC 3. The only meaningful new addition is trading insults or building friendships with other fighters on the roster but the only thing you gain from it is being able to invite them to your camp in order to learn moves from them at a lower cost, Which you will NEVER have to do as money is so easily attainable in this game.

    If you're an MMA fan or practitioner, You will be sorely disappointed. If you're just a gamer looking for a good simulation of MMA, You will also be sorely disappointed. This game is a direct downgrade in almost every aspect from UFC 3 and EA should be **** ashamed.    … Expand

    This is huge downgrade from last game (UFC 3). Career mode is boring and hollow. Fighting is not fluid anymore. Online mode is terrible because of spamming. Graphics and fps are huge disappointment all together.

That's just a few of this games horrible flaws, if you was to sit and list them all in a review you could probably fill the 5000 character limit ten times over. Will never buy from EA again. By far the worst gaming company there has ever been which is why they're despised by pretty much everybody. Only developers I've ever heard of that actually get consistently worse and worse over time.     Nos jogos do UFC da THQ, por exemplo, era mais claro o foco, um simulador de MMA, com uma carreira muito bem detalhada e desafiadora, mas nesse último lançamento da EA fica entre um simulador e arcade.
    As animações saindo de pé para entrada ground and pound tiram bastante a imersão, não tem muita variação, é bem robótico e artificial.
    Os bugs são constantes e as vezes impedem a luta de acontecer.
    A luta de chão realmente é algo a se repensar, há mais de 10 anos nessas transições que além de não condizerem com a realidade, são bem chatinhas. As finalizações seguem a fórmula padrão de sempre, mas são justas e desafiadoras.
    Os modos de jogo, fora da carreira, são interessantes. O modo nocaute e trocação funcionam bem para quem não é acostumado com a luta no chão ou até não curte muito.
    A EA precisa escolher uma identidade ao jogo para sair da mediocridade, talvez se inspirar em algumas ideias de design da THQ seja o caminho. E por isso até recomendaria jogar as versões da EA play ou pegar bem baratinho, porque pode ser uma experiência bem frustrante.    … Expand

Career mode is dog **** and nothing fun, and unrealistic. You can't even choose what gym you train at. fight the same people over and over again in career. One loss is -5% on your longevity even though fighters like alister overeem has gotten ko'd 15 times and had over 60 mma fights or diego sanchez whos had multiple wars and is still fighting or cowboy cerone whos had over 50 fights and still fighting. The game has unnecessary clothing just to monetize the game which shows ea's true intentions (even though everyone already knows.)
    The story is pretty much a generic low budget nba spike lee story. A elementary schooler can make a better story. Unnecessary controls that no one asked to be switched. This game has the worst controls in any triple a ps4 game. The clinch controls make no sense and i often find myself exiting the clinch when i try to do a throw. The transitions in clinch make no sense and is nowhere to be explained in the game. Who at ea thought it would be a good idea to make takedowns and punches the same button? I wonder if they tested the game because i often find myself throwing punches when wanting to do a takedown and vice versa. The game has less content than ufc 3 which should not be excused. they even took out joe rogan, they couldve just used the same lines for ufc 3, which still is isn't acceptable but would be better than no joe rogan. Nothing about this game is enjoyable. The takedown defense is yet another downgrade and is nearly unstoppable at all times. The coaches say the same thing every fight and is very predictable. The way to improve your fighter is yet another downgrade from ufc 3.
    Who thought it was a good idea to introduce points? I'd rather play ufc 1 than play this game which is sad because this game is the fourth installment. and wtf is up with the **** simplified ground control, which is almost impossible to use because once you go in a direction you can't stop it. the most annoying thing about this game is the ref stoppages which haven't improved at all since ufc1.
    They will literally stop it behind a fighter one their pounding someones head off, do they have eyes in the back of their head?     Career mode gets continuously worse each year, striking feels more robotic than ever and fighters movesets don't feel their own.

    I mean every fighter can seemingly do a perfect front kick to the head...

    Overall animations don't make you feel like your in an intense fight. Previous versions had this better.

Man I spent like 2 hours making a character and throughout the whole process he wouldn’t stop bouncing around and **** and literally every two seconds he would disappear and reappear making it hard to see what I’m changing. On top of all that when I finally finished (like 2 hours later) and had all the tattoos I wanted put I get a message saying “you’ve lost connection to the server” and it literally deleted EVERYTHING I just spent all that time making. And the game isn’t even good enough for me to want to spend that time making a charcuterie again. In one night I made it all the way to my super fight. There’s nothing interesting to do before the super fight. There’s nothing interesting during the career and after the super fight you’re instantly told yo need to give up one of your belts and start over the whole process of not doing anything interesting or stay in your current weight class and still not do anything Interesting. Easily the worst UFC, ‘09 was a million times better… Expand

    Another trash EA game. Unbalanced. Full of glitches and cheaters. They make not exploiting their lack of coding skills almost impossible to play the game. Got a 1 because I like UFC. They failed at everything else.

This is yet another example of why EA should never be given the license to any sports game. The formula is to get worse every year. UFC undisputed 3 an 11 year old game out shines this game in every way.     By someone who owns the game and has spent 1500+ hours playing this game I can honestly say that it it by far the worst mma game ever.

    No more callouts in career node All of the above is acceptably, for some, but the worst part is when you play ranked mode, you may win 15 fights in a row ,l, you will only win a very small amount of point but, on the other hand , if you loose, you will loose loads and loads of points.

    I'm ranked in division 10 and I keep beating guys above my rank but I remain in division 10 !!

    It honestly broke my heart but I deleted the game as there is no point trying to play unless you keep creating new accounts and hope that the stupid algorithm will give you some points    … Expand

    I'm not sure why this game gets all the hate?? This is by far the best UFC game to date, in my opinion. Moves are fluid and intuitive. It would get a 10 but it really is a boxing simulator. You can win just playing the stand up game. The learning curve comes with the wrestling and BJJ.

    No surprises, just another trash game from ea sports. Striking feels very slow and contros are unresponsive. Ground game is absolute joke, you cant finish anyone with ground and pound because for some reason after short period of time your apponent just pull you back automatically! Its also impossible to submit somebody unless they wasted all the energy. Will think twice before buing next game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. EA are not good at making UFC Games !!!

    There is a lot of bugs/glitches in this game, kinda make me feel like if nobody tested it before releasing the game;
    - I once started a career in Hardcore mode(my best yet), I was 21-0-0(12 Subs/8 KOs/1 Dec), with Double Champ Status, I was supposed to face Blachowicz to defend the belt and the game froze when I tried to simulate to the next week, lost my first and only great career in the game in HC mode just because of that weird problem EA won't fix, very annoying!!
    - There is also alot of strange glitches when your character forze in certain position like takedowns and clinch positions and you cannot do anything to unfreeze the it, so who gotta quit or wait until the bell rings.
    - Sometimes if you don't push the buttons hard enough, your character stop mid-action too, kinda boring sometimes.

    Things they should consider to change or add in the next UFC 5 game;
    - Most part of the fighters don't fight and don't use gameplans like they actually do IRL, improve that please!!
    - CPU are actually sometimes harder to fight than the actual fights, that's kinda crazy, do something for this please!!!
    - You can't call out the Champ as soon as you signed with UFC, why?!
    - You can't learn certain moves before you get in UFC, get Ranked or even get Champion, I don't get this "logic", this is pure nonsense to me.
    - During training session, you can't do boxing only, kickboxing only or even wrestling only.
    - You can only fight in WFA or DWCS before you get in UFC, what about WEC, IFL, PrideFC, Strikeforce or TUF ? or even Yard and Kumite fights ? Would definitely add something more interesting to your background in Career mode or even to your character legacy.
    - Why you cannot get a Rematch the first guy you lose to in Amateur when you get in UFC(would be an very dope Grudge match) ?
    - Why you cannot be a Judo, TKD, Karate, Muay Thai expert, instead of only Boxing, Wrestling, kickboxing and BJJ expert in the game ?

    So many bugs that will never be fixed and so many questions that will never be anwsered...
    At this point i start to think that this game has only been made to grab some money, instead of pleasing real hardcore MMA FANS !!!    … Expand

    In spite of sporadic issues with the controls and the monetization model, UFC 4 is a great fighter, even if one bases it solely on the expansive career mode. As I currently celebrate my first championship title and defending it, I wholeheartedly recommend this one, not only to fans of the sport, but to anyone looking for their next fighting game fix.

    Long-time players will be disappointed at Joe Rogan’s absence from the commentary booth this time around, even if Daniel Cormier and John Anik’s excitable tones are perfectly serviceable. And that’s a phrase which perfectly sums up UFC 4 in general. It won’t surprise MMA fans, but it should delight. [Issue#180, p.72]
