The reason why I was disapointed is the story line was as weak as it could be so after couple of voice lines and contracts only thing you doing was just to seem to keep fighting and fighting; while this is the main game this franchise still reeks of potential for me like the days of EAs once popular Boxing franchise. Because my expectations was beyond that I was hoping the game could be more than a game that you only fight against others. Well unfortunately UFC 4 is not much different although not ultimately bad either. It makes you create a fighter directly and you starting to career - not that different from the other games in the UFC franchise even the tattoos are similar to last years game, I mean the little details matter when you are entering into the 4th iteration of a potential on a global scale as there’s not any other worldwide sports venues that consistently have spawned in the fashion of UFC, even boxing as popular as it was in past years fans ultimately look for the next best thing in line with the events they enjoy. Although it's still fun to play but I can't say UFC 4 is amazingly so different than UFC 3 if you ask me to be completely honest and take the gloves off. The offline offerings include one-off fights in traditional MMA, Stand and Bang, and Knockout mode (with a new health-bar system that mirrors that of traditional fighting games), as well as custom events and tournaments. However, the destination for offline play is career mode. This year’s career starts off more cinematic, as you work closely with your head coach to learn how to fight, rack up some wins. I do enjoy an immersive experience and making the jump to the professional circuit and beyond always leaves a satisfied feeling for me. While I have to say this the KnockOut mode is nothing but purely Mortal Kombat styled
mode added and for a moment I thought Is this the future of the Franchise that rose up from the ashes as a worldwide success. It seemed more like a mini game they chose to throw in instead of polishing on the games overall polish and expanding beyond the offline career mode. Hey maybe take it to the next level and provide an environment that’s open globally for all to compete for world wide rankings and a true ranking of ones skill, ALA Toughest Fighter, I am truly excited for the next generation of gaming and I think UFC4 could have just been an example of what to expect at the end of a console generation a solid game that doesn’t really do anything wrong without breaking what has worked to date, next year we should really begin to see some of these franchises move in the direction of promising futures or possibly continue on the same path. At the end of the day if you’re a fan, heck yes it’s a must have. This game is far from a let down it’s just my desire to see the UFC franchise rise much as when I play WWE games, sometimes I wish I could plug in an N64 controller and play today’s games with the control and immersive experience these games delivered on a much less powerful platform with greater results. Only time will tell us the future so for now pick up a solid priced UFC4 and throw down just don’t expect a complete overhaul until we get our hands on UFC5.

Im glad people are finally taking a stand against the lootbox system in gaming. Ea gets a point for that at least. Its sad now days that they have to patch games post release as i as i am not a fan of this tactic by gaming standards. Especially unfinished fighting games. They should have reworked the gound and clinch system exactly like THQ undisputed 3 from 2012. The striking has little vairety for my tastes and The AI clinch spams. I could go on and on, but id save your money and wait for a sale people. P.s. THQ Nordic should buy the rights back and make ufc how it should have been all along. Expand

You should have 100% customisability by now... your 4 games in and the CAF has not changed... no new body types or better just use a scaling option like the WWE games do. I should be able to create all the different fighters I want from history with scary accuracy and change their records to reflect their IRL records and be able to have fun not feel restricted by who you've hand picked as the 10% who will make it to your roster.. I should be able to pick from 10 different kinds of kicks and punches for each input to give it a great unique feeling and change them for my CAFs so fighters I create really look and fight the way their IRL counterparts do.. but your focusing so hard online play and pushing out what we even had in UFC 3 being able to change attributes and moves that I will not be buying any more UFC games unless you HEAVILY invest in CAF customisation and really make it open-ended create anyone you want like the WWE games

I AM A HUGE MMA fan I train, I grew up watching it from the age of 9 and it really pisses me off to no end to see EA UFC be this bad...

Everything else is pretty decent ... oh and the paywall with buying tokens and stuff is beyond stupid.

you've lost a potential long term player because you've refused to evolve your CAF customisation.

Otherwise, after you take the second belt, the strongest simple starts in your career, and nothing happens. You have to protect the belt from the same opponents, because there is almost no progress in the ranking. 2) allow the player to create tournaments on back yard and kumite. 3) Kumite mode is cool, but **** when you hit a person in the face with these gloves, the whole face should be covered in blood. Do more damage, the entire arena should be covered in blood in this mode. 4) the same with the back yard. There is no point in stamina in this game. When you play you can just continuously throw jabs and crosses throughout the whole game and not lose a single bit of stamina. Majority of the time you lose will be to a player who spams the same buttons.

I have been pretty honest with my reviews. These review bombs are silly. Is UFC 4 a bad game? No. Is UFC 4 a good game? Also no. Every time a UFC game comes out, I always play through most or all of a career mode run, which I believe takes 15+ hours if you play it to completion. However, you will notice the flaws throughout the duration of the game. Essentially this game is the skeleton of a UFC game, everything is there but everything is unpolished. The gameplay is fun but clunky, the controls are good enough but not well thought out, the career mode maintains your interest but feels soulless, the graphics are mediocre, the soundtrack is really bad, and the sound design is bland. With everything considered, I did play most of a career mode shortly after this game came out and had a decent time for close to 15 hours, and I am revisiting it for a second time and having a decent time. There are a lot of frustrating exploits and broken gameplay mechanics, but you learn to work around them when playing the AI. It’s not a great game, the necessary skeleton is there, but it’s a very lazy release. The first UFC Undisputed game on Xbox 360 was extremely innovative for the time, UFC Undisputed 2 added the complexity the first game was lacking, UFC Undisputed 3 completely refined the first two games into a perfect mix. That was the last time they tried to make a good game, the reboot that happened after produced some lazy quality games. If you’re a fan of MMA or really enjoy sports career modes, you can have some fun with this game despite its glaring flaws. Expand

As someone who knows little to nothing about UFC, this game seems like a carbon copy of the previous entry. It's just as empty as every other EA game and while the visuals and fighting do feel quite nice, the game modes are far too bare bones and there is very little to actually do.

It's basically UFC 3 but somehow even lazier. Combat is still good. Everything else is disappointing . They did the bare minimum with the career mode. The story is barely there . Half baked rival mechanics. Slower more grindy progression. The character customization is still so boring and restrictive. Just all around a pointless entry in the series.

    The Good..???:
Much like UFC 3, the striking is the same on a From a Aesthetic level, Tweaks to the Striking, such as Stamina Management and Little animations such as leg kicks have been made, Not much has changed honestly, but is still competitive and fun
Improved Knockouts! this was a Surprise to me i never thought they would do it but they did, this came in a later update a couple of months ago which was well needed (even though i think the UFC 2 knockouts are the best of the series)
Adding and updating fighters on a consistent enough basis
When your in your groove or in a tough fight, thats where the game shines the most, have a back and fourth was with someone, throwing intricate combos, slipping, countering is the best part of it and you'll get that

    The Bad:
Grappling as a whole is absolutely boring and cheesy, minor changes have been made to the god awful ground game that hasn't been changed for around 6 years, as of now, the rear naked chokes are broken and very hard to escape, AVOID GRAPPLING, PLAY STAND AND BANG IF YOU WANT THE FUN FROM THIS GAME
EA have Focused most of their time on making Cosmetic skins, banners, badges ECT instead of the actual gameplay, take of that what you will.
they removed the ultimate team mode that they killed in ufc 3
Career mode is very shallow and needs your imagination to get enjoyment out of it, still very repetitive like the old EA UFC'S, minor details have changed but not the ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, only things outside of gameplay, which make zero difference and are actually a DRAG to get through like the training and media promotion

At first during the beta of this game, i was impressed with how real the clinch looked, but now the clinch is the biggest draw back of this game by far, the clinch is a massive problem for this game, when you come up against a player who spams clinch they have tried to fix this, but it still persists as of me writing this and has made me avoid ranked mode all together, now on to ranked mode, you can only pick from 3 Weight classes an hour because nobody wants to play the heavier and lighter weight classes because of the repetitive gameplay lack of fighters in the lowest weight classes,

    Conclusion:
this will also still be hard for new players to pick up but Alot easier than it was in UFC 3, give it a go if you like UFC or Technical Fighting stuff, you'll have some fun and learn rewarding combos, get frustrated by cheese like clinch spamming and grappling but you'll find some enjoyment through a scrappy bloody fight, Technical Striking Mind games, beating a Cocky player or a crazy knockout you got :) (This is my Favourite of the EA UFC Games, Up there with UFC 2)

This game was a huge let down compared to UFC 3. This game is decent at best. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this. This should have came out with half it's price tag. It looks amazing, gameplay is decent but it lacks content, and just felt rushed. It's good enough to grab at a huge discount which by now you can get often.

Long-time players will be disappointed at Joe Rogan’s absence from the commentary booth this time around, even if Daniel Cormier and John Anik’s excitable tones are perfectly serviceable.
