Its not often you see a game go backwards but UFC 1 is better than UFC2 and I find that amazing.

Graphics and animations are nice, while standing fights are sort of nice even if moving around is far from realistic, everything else is crap when you play against AI. Especially when you play against a fighter that is a good grappler. Don't waste your time if you want to have fun. That's not found in that game.

Here is yet another Pay to Win game. I paid 69.99 plus tax for this game and yet they still try to get more money out of you in order to upgrade your player to be good enough to win. I kicked the computer player 47 times in the head and he hit me one time to knock me out.

I can see how the free ios version of the game offers in-app purchases because the game is free to download. But,

I can see how the free ios version of the game offers in-app purchases because the game is free to download. But, this is PS4 and I spent a lot of money on this game. I will never pay for upgrades on a game which costs this much to play.

What a greedy company! Come on EA Sports! Can you not understand how to make a game which your users will enjoy without trying to drain every last dime from their pockets? When money becomes your only priority, and you loose sight of your customers priority (which is to have fun gaming), you loose!

Also, there is a glitch in the game. When I was playing Robbie Lawler against Rory McDonald and the fight went to the ground, the game froze every time. I had to eject the disc to get it working again.

Look at your negative reviews. So far there are 51 Negative reviews for this game. And nothing is being done about these issues in the upgrades, only more glitches. I'm sorry to say that EA Sports is giving the UFC a bad name with such a bad product.

The ground game is obviously broken and leaves one wondering how this new mechanic got the go-ahead in development. Striking is okay so long as it doesn't glitch out, or your stamina doesn't somehow drain after about three strikes. Literally three strikes if you don't finish the fight early, no joke. And good luck finishing the fight without ground-and-pound, because the daze mechanic is also broken.

Overall, I'm extremely disappointed in this abomination, but I'm even more disappointed in the critics who thought this piece of garbage was worth anything more than a very generous five out of ten.

After spending the past few weeks playing UFC 2, and as a massive MMA fan, I can't help but feel underwhelmed by what EA Sports has offered this time round. Sure, it's an improvement on the last game, but still ends up in practically all fights being decided by holding your opponent on the floor and hitting them with sloppy ground and pound.
I've spoken to friends before who feel EA Sports games (like FIFA), can be very much pre determined by the AI and your opponent will change their style to keep you invested in the game...

Sucking on the game? Got a streak of 3 losses on the bounce? You'll somehow be able to knock Conor Mcgregor out within 20 seconds in your next fight, just to give you a glimmer of hope to keep pushing on and playing the game.

Beating everyone in your path on career mode? Well you'll soon see your attacking power completely diminish and every opponent you come across will be an unstoppable monster. No matter what you do or try against your opponent, sometimes it feels like they are destined to smash you to bits. And believe me, it's not sour grapes that I can't win every fight, like MMA in real life I'm prepared to take losses on my record, but I can't help but feel the game does slightly 'adapt' depending on your progress throughout the game. I also understand that in regular, real life MMA, ANYTHNG can happen. Fights can be over in less than 20 seconds, but UFC2 never really seems to capture this 'real' feeling, resulting in repetetive fights no matter what weight class you choose. Reversals and counters don't really seem to work, but your AI opponent can pull them off with such simple ease whilst popping off shots to the head and attempting submissions.

On career mode with my created fighter, I lost 3 straight fights on the bounce and got so frustrated that I considered not playing the game ever again. Decided to have one more fight (against a fighter rated 100, I was rated 85), and surprise surprise... I won within 30 seconds. Maybe coincidence, but these things occured too often for me to believe that it's to do with the way I fight and my skill level.

Also, after a while the game does start to feel extremely repetitive. Punch, block, kick, block, opponent attempts 100 take downs, opponent clinches you 100 times, opponent tries to tap you out, opponent top mounts you in the ground and pound and wins. My perks for flash knockdowns are completely upgraded and in at least 30 fights on my career I must've knocked someone clean out from standing position maybe once or twice, the rest of the time fights are spent holding my opponent on the floor and trying to get punches and elbows from the mount. The vast majority of matches are only won in this position, regardless of how good you are at submitting your opponent or striking from a standing position.

All in all, I found the early parts of career mode to be exciting, The Ultimate Fighter bits when you start the game are really cool, and in the early stages of career you really feel a sense of excitement as you move up the ranks towards a title shot. Get yourself in the top spot in your weight division though, and that's where the pre-determined fights really feel like they're starting to come in.

Knockout Mode is completely lacklustre, it tries to sell itself as a great party game to play against your friends which isn't true, all you have to do is throw blind punches and kicks and hope some of them connect. Ultimate Team is pointless and feels like a complete cash grab, online mode isn't worth doing either unless you want your frustration levels elevated further...

The positives for me was that the graphics really are fantastic, the walk down to the octagon feels realistic with the 'tale of the tape' stuff being pretty accurate. The commentary is good and doesn't sound too repetitive. The roster is also stacked with fighters from all weight divisions, including a solid roster of female fighters to choose from.

In conclusion I wouldn't reccomend this game to any avid MMA fan, the older games (Undisputed) were much better back in the day but I can imagine them to feel dated now if I went back to them. I would wait until the price of this game drops dramatically (just like the first EA UFC did after a few months) before checking it out. Don't bother paying full price like I did...

The graphics are beautiful. The fighters look good, and so does the environment.

Nice full roster. There are a large number of fighters in each weight class both current, and those from recent past.

The Knock out physics are amusing be. There are times that the Knock Outs are absolutely hilarious.

    Now the Bad:
Career mode is bare bones: I loved the old games career modes. I had a retired champion in each weight class in the old games, and never got bored with it. The new career mode has lame training, no fight camps, no sponsors. So you can't create and customize your fighter, and gear the way you want. That was something I really liked in the past games. I created a fighter, and took him all the way to retired champ in 2 days, and didn't enjoy it.

The controls are clunky. Why would you remove/not incorporate a run/rush button? Get a good stun on a fighter, and want to rush him for the KO? Good luck he just stumbled back 3-4 steps, and you can only shuffle at him giving him time to recover. Knock a fighter down and want to "finish the fight"? Too bad not only can you not rush him, but the diving punch to the ground doesn't work properly, and you will likely have to walk beside the downed fighter to get the attack, and by now he has likely recovered. The grappling system isn't terrible, but against the AI it seems they cancel everything you try, while advancing position at the same time. The submission system is pretty lame as well. But hey the Stand up game is decent...

New modes are bad. The KO mode is pretty lame. It can be amusing for about 3 fights. Of course EA forced the Fantasy team into this game for Micro-trans purposes, and it's bad. It's not a team game, and you are not collecting pro fighters to build your team.

If you loved the old UFC games just stay away. This game is stripped down compared to the past games, and what they removed has been replaced with bad modes. I got the game on release day, and have played it a good bit this week, but I am looking to get rid of it already. It only gets a because it looks good, has a good roster, and the stand up is fairly strong.

That being said, this game is unbelievably lazy in some aspects and downright poorly designed in others. The game modes themselves are as bare bones as they come. Career mode is a tacted on afterthought, ultimate team is a pay to win fun house. It doesn't even have the most basic and expected options to fine tune your experience. You can't change the controls, you can't change the camera. Everything about this game is this is what you get and if you don't like it then tough ****

Then you have the online being as laggy and atrocious as it was last game. But wait! there is a new thing now where fights will RANDOMLY RESET THEMSELVES. No seriously. A fight will start, you start to engage eachother and then the UFC logo comes up and the fighters are reset.

It has the worst ground game ever featured in an MMA game. The rotating sticks system of the past needed to be improved upon, but what they replaced it with is embarrassing. You spend your time on the ground staring at a box in the center of the screen that shows the available transitions for whatever position you're in. Sorry, but that isn't good game design. Even when you master this new system it's just still unbelievably clunky and slow compared to games in the past. Everything you do on the ground feels like you're underwater with so much stopping and starting it's ridiculous. There is no flow to the ground game at all.

This game has been out for a week and is already half off. Guess what? They don't do that with games that are selling well. And a big reason this game isn't selling well is because of the bad word of mouth following it. I've tried to defend the game, but I have to face reality that there are too many aspects of it that are indefensible.

Not to mention online players spamming the **** outta the same moves over and over and over again although you are pressing the correct buttons to deny or counter that said move. I honestly do not know why they threw out the old ground and clinch game instead of just adding a few tweaks. I find myself just giving up when playing online because its 99% frustrating and 1% tolerable. The graphics however look amazing thats about the only positive I can take from this. The new ultimate team is flawed beyond sanity simply due to the fact they have made packs available to purchase with real money which in turn makes the online divisions completely unfair. Rich kids with daddies credit card can get Mcgregor's move list with ease. Where as normal people who would rather spend their hard earned money on REAL things are left getting their asses whooped! Such a shame that EA got hold of the UFC license because inevitably they have drained the soul from MMA games. Genuine fans of the franchise are probably going to be disappointed with the game on so many levels but the main one is EA's attempt at creating a sim like game has fallen short and its a confusing mix between arcade stand and slug it out until the game randomly decides who will get rocked first. Even then it sometimes take 5 or 6 instances of an opponent being rocked until you can finish the fight. Blocking is stupid simply because during unlocked states it works fairly realistically but as soon as you or an opponent is stunned (rocked) all you gotta do is hold block and your fists are a forcefield that can withstand literally anything thrown at them. Extremely disappointed with the game and unfortunately I will be steering clear of any future developments by EA and The UFC. Oh and one last thing one of the unlock able characters in the game is Joe Rogan....... Don't get me wrong he is awesome but why oh WHY is he in the game?! Yes he practices MMA and is probably very talented at it but for **** sake EA! First Mike Tyson in a MMA game now a commentator?!! JESUS CHRIST!! I'M OUT! Expand

Yeah, we've got it too. But what did they do with ground and submission systems? What is this? Chasing to reach more realism? Previous system was imperfect, but that is a real disaster. It's too chaotic, too uncontrallable and there's nothing about realism. I've got a few remarks about a stand-up system too. I think the previous was better: more balanced, fighters moving better and there were none of this amazing misses. What do we've got in a result? Nothing becomes better in the fights, so what about entertainment, modes and other new things?
Nothing's good. The career mode didn't changed at all, except training and little messages about camps and fans, but it's nothing. When you look at the previous game carrer mode, you see how hard they've tried to make it good. But it was for one time only. Now there's nothing like fighters interviews, there's nothing new and interesting.
Knockout mode is the only good innovation in UFC 2. It looks like Mortal Kombat or Tekken with your favourite UFC stars. It's fun, it's fresh and it's without this awful ground/sub systems, so enjoy!
I don't wanna talk about modes like "Live Events", cause it's really doesn't deserve any mention. So this game is really disappointing me, I hope that some things will be fixed, so we can play it without vomitive reflexes. It's 3 out of 10 (for big roster)

The impact physics I find inconsistent, punches and kicks are well done as the head and body react well to the impact. The cuts, mouse and bruises to leg and torso are on par. But the ground and pound, which my Create a Fighter excels well is bad I mean real BAD. Guy is about to get knocked out and I'm hammer fisting him on full mount. I expect his/her head to be bouncing off the mat face rippling but it looks like he's being hit by a inflatable toy hammer. Really ruins the experience of ground KOs.

Transitioning is a lot easier compared to UFC 1 as they label the direction you want to transition to or to pull off a submission etc. It's good, as you memorize them in later fights. The lag is bad with some moves especially while on the ground, you try to transition and there's a power up bar which sometimes doesn't start then you try it again then it lags and shows it was charging but since you tried again it resets and by the time it begins again you're being ground and pounded by your opponent (sometimes to a KO).

Spamming is still a problem on the clinch especially in Online fights which I thought they would fix learning from UFC 1.

Lots of Game Modes, which they tried a FIFA like Ultimate Team which I don't really see the point of as its not a team based sport. I think it's a typical EA money grab with microtransactions. Knockout mode is a good laugh, couch Co Op especially with friends who don't know how to play.

    I rate the game a 7

    - 0.5 Customise attire was disappointing (Either black or white shorts to choose from? Cmon!!)

    - 1 Ground and Pound physics (they need to fix, I didn't play this game to slap an opponent)

    - 1.5 Online spamming still a big reason why I hardly play online unless with the friends that I know fight fair

Opponents sometimes are like terminators which are unbeatable.. no matter if you make loads of kicks which normally 9 out of 10 times will knock out your opponent..instead of ko he will do 2 counter punches and knocks you out.
Im regreting because this is very cheap arcade game..unrealistic..the only good point about this game is the graphics and the ragdolls...everything else is very cheap....MADE IN CHINE stuff. :)
    Dont waste your money.

UFC 2 is allot of fun but that damn submission system is bad, i understand exactly how to do the submissions but it is really difficult to fend off the opponents attempts at breaking the hold with the right stick and tightening the hold at exactly the right time with the left stick, I feel that if the left stick was used to fend off the opponent and the right stick was used to lock in theUFC 2 is allot of fun but that damn submission system is bad, i understand exactly how to do the submissions but it is really difficult to fend off the opponents attempts at breaking the hold with the right stick and tightening the hold at exactly the right time with the left stick, I feel that if the left stick was used to fend off the opponent and the right stick was used to lock in the submission it would feel much better after all my years of gaming my right thumb is the precision finger it. just feels backwards flicking the left stick at the right moment and location makes it really difficult if i can change the control scheme that might also work. is anybody else finding the submission game uncomfortable? I personally give this game an 8.0 even with the backwards feeling submission system the knockouts are Epic character models gradual bruising and open cuts gushing blood is fantastic the create a fighter system is great you can render a good model of yourself if you put the time in. my character has all my real life tattoos. i would recommend to any fight game fan. plus Mike Tyson Bruce Lee cm punk Expand

The most realistic depiction of MMA to date. strategical striking and wrestling is really fun this time around. the game modes are very fun and engaging. plenty of hours can be put in with memorable fights

Its really the next step! Better graphics, better animation, better physics! You have to improve the Game Face tech, especially in the female fighter creation. gj THX!

    Four problems with this game:
    1. Career mode needs more depth
    2. Ultimate needs to be either revamped or replaced with other fun game modes 3. The Reebok sponsorship with UFC ruins customizations of fighters attire (not EA's fault actually, they have to follow the contract between Reebok and UFC) 4. The challenges of prominent fighters in career mode are ruthless. How is it fair that

    4. The challenges of prominent fighters in career mode are ruthless. How is it fair that an up and coming prospect goes against for instant Donald Cerrone eight fights into there career (In career mode my fighter who is a 75 received a challenge from cowboy who is a 94).

Get these problems fixed and then its a nine.

Other than that this game is fun and I believe a step up from UFC 1. The gameplay is nice and you do have to use strategy in fights if you play with adaptive A.I. as the fights do become difficult.

UFC has been the game I've played the most. Since Undisputed 2010. It's the only game I bought a deluxe version, the first game I got platinum (the first EA UFC) and I got the platinum in this either (I don't care about platinums though).

EA UFC 2 has the best GAMEPLAY ever. Period. Huge rooster, amazing gameplay, very realistic, the ground game is so much technical, the pace is very

EA UFC 2 has the best GAMEPLAY ever. Period. Huge rooster, amazing gameplay, very realistic, the ground game is so much technical, the pace is very good. EA have been doing a good work balancing the game after release, nerfing some positions. (My only left concern is the switch buttons to block in clinch)

The cons of this game it's everything else. EA seems to have spared features to future games. Career mode is completely lame! AI is outrageous!! Every fighter in the game is a ground guy (McGregor tooking a bjj guy to the ground? Are you nuts? That could be easily solved with AI presets (as on Undisputed series from THQ). In other world, YOU SHOULD ONLY PLAY EA UFC 2 ONLINE.

Furthermore, fighter customization is incredibly basic. It's like a 2002 game if you compare to 2k sports games. Unbelievable!

So, it's unfinished game. EA guys dedicated so much time to gameplay and forgot things kinda simple that contributes to immersion.

I still love the game because I'm a martial artist lover, and adjusting some things the game could be almost perfect (most of them, if not all of them, THQ had already did several years ago) !!

This is a great game, for a fighter. The fighting feels fun and very approachable compared to other entries. The game is an absolute blast to play with friends which makes it a great party game. Don't expect much else outside of that because it's a beautiful simplicity; 1 on 1 realistivc style UFC fights that's the entire game and I'm ok with that.

Best MMA game ever! 5 new game modes and 250 fighters...amazing. I love that EA has added some of fighting's all-time Legends; Mike Tyson, Bas Rutten, Sakuraba, Bruce Lee. UFC Ultimate Team is also a nice addition...as you can earn everything - simply by playing.

I’m glad the developers decided to introduce some substantial changes, especially that improvements were made where they were really needed. Controls are much more intuitive and the whole grappling system was redesigned. If you’re looking for a realistic fighting game, pick up UFC 2. [05/2016, p.66]

Two games deep and two systems later, the grappling simply still isn’t as much fun as slugging it out, especially for those who have a more casual interest in MMA. [June 2016, p75]

After the success of THQ’s UFC Undisputed, EA tried to copy it with MMA – and pretty much failed. Then it bought the license from THQ, but EA’s first UFC wasn’t stellar either. Well, after playing UFC 2 we can say with confidence: the third time is the charm. [Issue#209, p.68]
