Really enjoyed the game - the parkour takes a little practise which is good and killing the zombies easily will take gametime, experience and acquired skills and weapons. The story is decent - i think they can and will do more, i foresee a sequel.............

i cant recall a game that was as uneven as dying light. i would totally believe that two different teams were doing two 'halfs' of the game.

how is that even possible ? no idea, but i know that if you bounce back after starting the game you should really have that in mind that the longer you play the better it gets and just push forward.

p.s how could they not include homemade bows and flamethrowers from the very beginning (pre future DLC) - that sucks badly

Good gameplay and the progression of the character, so you can't do everything from the start. you are somehow forced to do the side missions to increase your skills to be able to pass some story missions which is smart from my point of view, good variety of weapons. i don't give it a 9 or 10 as I've seen better games and it is a degree of repetitiveness in some areas, like things you find in trunks. Another fact that I somehow don't like is a timing issue let's say. Example: you have this mission which sound so urgent and you have to go immediately in a certain place, but actually you can do all the side missions including bringing crayons to children during a span of 4 5 game days and then go to the urgent place. It kind of loses first impact you get from the game, impact you get in first missions when there is no side mission. The controls can't be fully changed so you have to get used with those, and if you played many shooters lately with other controls you feel this issue in some moments in the game Expand

Dying Light is the spiritual sequel of Dead Island (by the same studio) it had the ambition to be even better, but did they succeed in their enterprise ?

Technically the game is very good, with very beautiful graphics for early 2015, specially the light effects which is obvious thanks to the day/night cycle. Everything is detailed and you don't feel like the city was built using only a few models of building thanks to all those details. The animations are top notch too with great realistic feeling when you're running and such. Also it is important to point the lack of glitches (very rare in open worlds game) and the solid framerate even when there's a lot of zombies on the screen.

Concerning the gameplay we find everything we encountered in Dead Island : focus on melee fights, very important looting system and the use of mods to upgrade your weapon, the possibility to play in coop, an open world with a lot of side quests, and the introduction to modified zombies the further you progress in the game. But we also had the parkour abilities of our character which enhance all the trips you have to make in the city making a run in the rooftops equally fun to a brawl with zombies and the previously mentioned day/night cycle that introduce a new kind of gameplay (at night) when you're the prey of the strongest kind of zombies (who might be a player if your enable the option) that also allows new emotions. Those two additions make for a worthy (unofficial) sequel. The only downside is the repetitivity of the game, a flaw that plagues many open worlds and you won't encounter new situations during the second half of the game.

Concerning the story, it's pretty classic for a zombie outbreak with themes such as the search of a cure and the biggest threat being other humans. It won't win any prize but it's efficient and you can rely with the characters. The game also offers a lot of side quests and it's good to see that most have their own stories (a few of them are just request on a billboard) that makes them more interesting and you want to see them through, some will even impact your environment. If you want to finish the game at 100% you can expect more or less 30 hours of gameplay with 12 for the main campaign, it's in the good average for this kind of game.

In conclusion Dying Light improves on the Dead Island formula and it's without a doubt the best zombie game available for PS4, but it misses originality in its gameplay and its story to appeal for gamers that aren't interested in zombies. But if you like to smash the heads of the undead I definitively advise this game.

Having to run from different parts of the maps without a fast travel option allowed for so many fun parkour and zombie killing moments. Even fully leveled up, you can sometimes find yourself in a pinch even with the lower level zombies.

They really created a fun world where you have the necessary tools to survive. Also the slightly campy story, filled with the John Carpenter style music, really sets a great tone for the overall experience. Then you have your day & night cycles, which create entire moods of their own both in tone and difficulty.

The main campaign is a solid length due to the fact that if you try to progress too soon, the missions may just be too hard to beat. It creates a need for you to explore and get in intense situations so that you can build your character.

I will admit, that sometimes the courier aspect of some of the missions was a bit tedious and a let down. However, all the moments in between more than make up for that shortcoming. Having a zombie player invade your game can also be an insanely tense experience during the in between moments.

If your looking for a fun game, with a fun world, this is definitely worth your $60.

Did I mention the games parkour mechanics are better than other parkour-based games like Mirror's edge or Assassin's Creed?

This is a sweet game, fully met and exceeded my expectations. If you liked Fallout, you will love Dying Light. If you like killing zombies with a lot of blood and gore, you will love Dying Light. Not sure why the critics scored this one so long.. i've put 20+ hours into this game and only at about 15% of the story. Side quests are a lot of fun and and exploring/killing the zombies is great.

This game is amazing. When you start off you might feel like the parkour is not very smooth or good. But in reality the game is meant to be like that. As you play more you actually get better at parkour your self. As you also gain more xp you can unlock things even like wall run. This game's perk system is awesome and very rewarding.

The fighting system is pretty good, although some of the abilities you can unlock seem a bit overpowered and unrealistic, like the slide-kick which can outright kill two of Rais's men at once if timed correctly. The zombies are a danger at first but eventually even the scariest ones become easy to handle.

The story is fairly decent, side quests range from "cool!" to "meh..", character writing could have been better. Crafting seems a bit limited but at least it has a crafting system unlike some games. The thing I would have most liked to see is a more 'Fallout-style' character creator, with maybe some exclusive perks depending on character type or something.

I've gotten a lot of play-time out of this game though, and it's a lot of fun. 8/10 from me.

You can't judge what to buy from someone elses opinion alone (Alien Isolation and Pokémon:OR/AS would be a prime example of this, too much water anyone?). It borrows from popular titles (Skyrim lock-picking) whilst building upon their initial foundation for the game, Dead Island.

When I played the latter I didn't quite enjoy how goofy it felt most of the time. So although they have similarities in their function, the tones present are entirely dissimilar, and that's why I'm enjoying Dying Light to a much higher extent.
I purchased the game day one and have been playing for a few hours each day. One long thing to note before I continue, and avoid if you're playing, is directly quitting the game after sleeping in a safehouse to make it either day or night. I did this because of the lack of a manual save function and didn't know how much progress I would lose or rather, when or what triggered autosaving. As it appears, a characters skills and the story are saved separately, so to my dismay the next day when I booted up the game, I retained my story progression but lost all of my items, blueprints and skill points. Only in that instance and from doing what I mentioned above specifically, did I experience the glitch.

Now, you can always build up your skill points again (which I did) from engaging in the games brilliant parkour system and the Dead Island-esque combat. You can't however, regain a medkit blueprint in order to heal yourself as it's a tutorial acquired item (Gauze and Alcohol). My temporary fix for this, until a patch is released, was getting another medkit blueprint using different materials, specifically herbs. But I come by those a LOT less frequently.
Speaking of which, gathering the resources in the zombie-infested slums of Harran is quite gratifying, along with the added challenge that you are always (generally) in danger. There's been many a time of tossing and tossing fire crackers in order to shift the attention of the undead away from a welcoming air package. That is until you acquire the camo ability, effectively letting you rub the zombo gunk all over yourself from a dead zombie and blending in with the crowd (Walking Dead eat your heart out).

With Harran in mind, I've read about two reviews mentioning the games map-size and that it's average. Now obviously there's some serious lack of progression in the game to announce such a thing. The slums are quite large, they do blend in after awhile and it begins to feel like you know the place as well as your own home. What they fail to mention is Sector 0, or Old Town. This is a different section in the game and a different map entirely (albeit smaller). I won't spoil it's aesthetics but I was in such awe of seeing this brand new area to explore. I wished the map was bigger and they chose the slums to be the smaller of the two. That being said it is still a big and beautiful map.

Despite very minor hitches and peoples suspicions about late review codes and what state the game must have been in, I have only experienced the one glitch that I mentioned earlier. Which is a lot less than I did playing AC: Unity.

My advice would be to pick up this fabulous title and give Techland your support. A lot of the bad I've read is simply that it is not 100% original, but rather a mesh of various popular mechanics, which is honestly not many. The main one that hits everyones minds is Mirrors Edge parkour. But I simply fail to see how you could possibly have made it any differently. It's a man jumping and hoisting himself up on buildings. There's not a lot of room for variation. If you're not a picky critic, and aren't expecting a Telltale plot in the ways of the games story, I can guarantee you'll have a lot of fun playing Dying Light.

So people who need some decent info on the game only need to read the review in this score range. It's not amazing but it's also not terrible. Just rent it from Redbox or Gamefly. Also the parkour they implemented is very nice and fluid. It's easier to get around in this game over Dead Island. If you liked Dead Island than you'll be happy with this since it is a bit better. Gives you barely any guns and makes you value the weapons you find even more this way as it's not hard to get carried away and break them (but there's a perk for that as well). Music - nothing sensational, but fits the mood perfectly, the main theme is absolutely great. And the mood is much more serious than Dead Island, with no blinking objects around the world you feel like you are there instead of the game holding your hand and showing you the goodies around you. You have to work carefully for your progress while being careful of the masses of zombies around at all times - great survival element.
Love the colours - more realistic than most games (including Dead Island and even GTA V), the setting and the colour palette might remind you of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - and this is huge compliment.
The horror comes at night, when you become the prey and vicious zombies will chase you in the dark - and this is how nights in videos games should be (unlike the well lit ones on Rockstar's and Bethesda's games).
Bottom line - fun to play, intriguing main story, tons of good side quests, great visuals and fitting music. Pretty much better than anything that came out in 2014.

This game is worth a punt. It looks good with a few oddities that don't detract from the game. There's a palpable underlying worry when faced with any group of zombies, that you'll be manhandled to death. That's not to mention the hulking zombies and the newly turned that come running interrogating load sounds.

Yes the plot is a bit thin and the voice acting could be better. Whilst the story and the missions are slightly under par it's a fun jaunt that's keeping me interested. In fact when looking at the sub par score blasted about by the so called critics I think it proves that Meta Critic should reverse the way it represents the games. To be less critic orientated and more user orientated. I have severe reservations that the critics actually know what they're on about. Even so I say play this game. It's fun. It's tense at times. The fighting whilst, overly clumsy rewards and punishes to the correct degree. It's not perfect and I wonder at people who expect 100% perfection are in fact being 100% realistic to any degree.

I like this game. Give it a go.

Additionally, the story may not have been too compelling, but was good nonetheless. Numerous side missions within two large open maps to explore allowed plenty of content and the how the game handled combat, creative, and evasive mechanics kept all that content varied and fresh.

I found its main story to be somewhat satisfying, there were some parts that shocked and amazed me. I actually enjoyed the main characters and the overall realistic and more serious tone of the story fit well with the game as a whole. Side missions became a very enjoyable part of the game; and the characters involved with them were are unique and I didn't feel like I was doing a chore, getting a reward, and moving on. Most of them had some extent of story to it which easily made up the fact that they were mainly errand boy missions; and the games many creative game mechanics allowed it to be very enjoyable as I could usually take a variety of approaches.

Creativity is especially encouraged; I could use a variety of movement abilities and combat abilities to combo together and execute some very enjoyable and satisfying moves. The games 3 skill trees allowed me to get more and more abilities that all added to the game as a whole. Ideas like zombie camouflage were plain genius to have while abilities like drop kick and grapple are among the funnest to do in combination with other abilities. I almost always found a new skill to spend a skill point on that would significantly change my play style or at least give me an ability that would make a difference whether in or out of combat. Some others include snapping necks, using zombies as a pole vault, tackling, throwing my weapon, among many abilities that would allow me to craft awesome equipment.

But the creativity doesn't stop there. A huge and overwhelming amount of weaponry allowed me to take up almost any combat style I felt like taking. And its not limited to just melee weapons, but various throw-able weapons like throwing stars, grenades, and Molotov. Not to mention guns, which seemed unfinished, but did not bother me one bit as I much preferred melee weaponry (which was not only funner but encouraged) and almost never used guns, but its good to see that the option to use them was there. The addition of weapon upgrades with elemental effects to both melee and thrown equipment created significantly more fun. These ideas really lived up to and surpassed the idea of creative brutality, not to mention many traps varied around the city. All these options gave me many tactical approaches that were so very satisfying to pull off.

Yet there is still more; craft-able equipment like riot shields (with elemental options), firecrackers, flares and others like grappling hooks and the oh so important UV flashlight all had a place in the game. Possibilities became endless, and the fact that some of these required blueprints only encouraged exploration around the map which further encouraged the games smooth movement system.

The two maps of Old Town and Harran were both very complimentary to the parkour system and the many various structures were located to allow and encourage smooth movement. Exploration was very fun as new areas felt fresh and the hunt for better loot, material, and blueprints fit well and did not at all feel like a farm fest.

Looting was a core mechanic and finding that new badass weapon was always a thrill for me and, although durability would seem like a problem, I always found a better, cooler weapon before it was even half broken. Looting was rewarding and the lock picking minigame made sense to me and I was perfectly content with it.

Combat feels and plays great. I've already mentioned many combat moves and there are many more still unmentioned. When I hit a zombie with a blunt weapon, it feels real, the sound gives a feel a realism and using sharp edged weapons are satisfying to use to dismember zombies.

Graphically, the game is beautiful, even the zombies are beautiful in their own way (except the Toads). The only bad thing about this is that the facial animations on characters are sometimes dull, but mainly on the non-important characters.

Zombies are as they should be: Dumb and slow, but very dangerous in numbers. Among the regular zombies are, however, many other zombie types that keep the challenges fresh and varied. one biter isn't a challenge and is rather a play doll I can enjoy messing with, 5-10 zombies will test my parkour and evasive moves, and 20-30 zombies is certain death.

    **Out of characters :(

Night time adds in a real scare factor that is executed wonderfully.

Multiplayer is VERY fun with friends and Be The Zombie is an AMAZING addition.

Dying Light for the PS4 is like a girlfriend who is drop dead beautiful. She's not very bright but still enjoyable to talk to. And she is so absolutely amazing in bed that you don't mind anymore that the reason she doesn't know how to dial 911 is because she cannot find the "11" button on the phone.

Sure, starting off the main character in Dying Light (Crane) is a bit under-powered, which makes fighting zombies real difficult. NEWSFLASH! It is supposed to be. :-) Part of what submerged me in this game is the realization that Crane is not a super soldier that blows everything up and puts fifty bullets into anything that moves. He is a survivor. He survives, not dominates. That being said, as you progress in the game you will experience the almost perfect skill tree system. Survivor, Agility, and power are what you can choose from and each category has (I think 20 or so) different skills to choose from. Survivor points are awarded mostly after completing story missions, and quests. Power points are awarded for each zombie, or goon killed. Agility (which is probably what I find most fun) is awarded by "parkouring" your way around the huge map called Harran. The parkour was the highlight for me. If you know what to look for, and you will after some play time, you can move seamlessly and almost effortlessly across village rooftops or highway car pileups. A lot of people are reminded of Mirrors edge when playing this game. I have never played mirrors edge so I cannot say I agree, but I will say that this is a MUST play. Techland out-did themselves. I tried and tried to get into the Dead Island games but i did not like them at all. I just didn't much like the overall "attitude" of the game. It was hard to take seriously, but this came has risen to my top 10 for sure. Give it a try. Expand

Then February came and i needed a game to play with a buddy and Dying Light offered Coop, so we bought the game, hoping it would be any good.
The last Game we bought wishing for a good coop experience was Destiny (while we both got to Level 28/29 eventually, we didn't bother playing the DLC, it's stupidly repetitive and the Story just isn't there).
So we started the game with low expectations and mediocre experience thanks to Destiny.
    And it was awesome.
The Coop was seamless, the Story was absolutely great (i mean, it's not the best Story i've ever heard but it's good no less), the Experience was phenomenal. I really LOVE the City and the immersion, the other characters - even if they might be a little stereotypical, but some are actually quite well drawn.

The first night brought my heart up to it's limits, and even after a couple of hours we started running like little chickens whenever the 1-hour-warning started.
    The overall Experience was awesome.
I've experienced the Save bug, so i had to replay three Sidequests as my game wasn't saved properly (which was fixed shortly after), so i've put about 40 hours in the game.
Yesterday we played the last story mission and eventually got a notification "you're about to start the final mission, it can only be played in singleplayer" and we both immediately said "oh wait, no! don't start" and started running as fast as we could.
We simply didn't want the game to end.
It's maybe the third or the fourth time i've experienced this feeling in a game (the last time was The Last of Us, another might be GTA Vice City - and i've played games for quite some time now).
    It's just good.
Yes some things are not perfect (the first DLC sucks), but it's a really solid game.
Best game on the PS4 so far.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I usually don't give any games a 10/10 as nothing is really ever perfect but I was very disapointed at how low some of the critic reviews were. The game definitely deserves higher than a 74. Some indie titles are getting high 80's and that blows my mind (OlliOlli2.......). Dying Light isn't the perfect game and at times can be a bit frustrating but I thoroughly enjoyed the I am Legend'esk experience. I remember the watch alarm first going off and I was way off from a safe zone trying to finish up a side quest. I actually got chill bumps thinking about the scene from I am Legend. It is undeniable they took many of the concepts from that movie but it worked fantastically for me. I love the atmosphere of the game, the story, and the at times hilarious ways to rid the city of the zombie menace. Truly a game I will remember among the sea of titles for years to come. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved this game. I thought it was a great combination of Mirrors Edge Parkour gameplay and Dead Island with the Zombie Apocalypse build random stuff out of other random stuff. I was amazed on the graphics quality and the way the game handled. The down side is although the story line was great and easy to sink into it was met with bland ending of just an action sequence to finalize the game. I've seen too many games this day and age that giving you this huge rush of trying to get to the end to meet the final boss and the climax of the game ends up being near the low point. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a great time and laughs with friends. Expand

One of the best games available on PS4 until now. The story is not the main force of Dying Light, but the music, the sound effects, the graphics, the gameplay & the possibility to play the entire game in coop make me think that Dying Light is near to be a must-have if you like zombies games.

ThatIf Mirror's Edge and Dead Island had a love child, she'd be named Dying Light. With gorgeous graphics, great controls (depending on your ability to execute them) and a creepy atmosphere that had me unknowingly biting my tongue as night began to fall, you get an immersive, open-world Zombie apocalypse experience that transports in a way very few Zombie games (if any) have done before. That being said, if you've ever played Dead Island before you'll notice a few of Techland's and many other open-world developers clichéd approaches to storyline filler, most notably the infamous and incessant "fetch quests" that too often can pull one out the realism of what an open-world game should strive to achieve. You take it with a grain of salt as the overall experience is still spine-tinglingly immersive. However, in a real apocalypse scenario I would not be out scouring the world for crayons or coffee for people too frightened to venture out themselves. Sure you can just decide not to be the city's errand boy to a certain degree, but you're compelled to help for the rewards and you figure maybe you'll just randomly stumble upon these items anyway...so sure...I'll pick them up if I see them. The voice acting is pretty decent and the dynamic weather system and day/night cycle is a significant part of the backbone of the experience, hence the name "Dying Light". Rummaging through buildings and picking the locks of vehicles looking for supplies while contending with Zombies is a manageable experience, or racing for an air-drop trying to get it before the merciless gang of survivors beat you to it, while fun, is not particularly challenging. However hearing over the radio that night is falling advising you to find shelter adds a level of urgency and fear because once night falls you're screwed and the simplest of tasks becomes a fight for survival that you may not come out of. Some of the most enjoyable experiences were getting caught outside at night and finding a little shack or sewer pipe to hunker down in, crouching still with your light off while you hear the grunts and moans of Zombies around you outside, searching for a meal. Do they pass by your little hiding spot or do they happen to stumble in or spot you through a window, letting out a blood curdling scream and alerting every Zombie in the area of your presence, prompting you to either fight or run? It's all random so unless you've found a designated Safe House you never feel safe, which is great. The Parkour element brings open-world to a whole new level and it makes you realize that previous open-world games were not as "open" as we'd have liked them to be when you can't scale a building, jump from rooftop to rooftop reaching for a ledge to grab or eventually the use a grappling hook to essentially go where ever you like. The upgradeable weapon system is great too, but early on the weapons are weak and basic which I believe turned off a lot of gamers who played for a day or two and wanted their money back. I personally enjoy having to scrounge for a plank of wood and knocking a few heads back and forth, hoping it will last long enough to beat my foe. It adds to the realism and the need to be resourceful and inventive in your attacks. After a while though the weapons become more useful and the satisfaction from lopping a head off with one swipe of your machete, or severing the arm or hand of a Zombie as they reach out to grab you doesn't really get tiring. There is no limit to the damage you can inflict. This was apparent the first time I split one right down the middle. If you're out of weapons or just like being a bit more efficient and clever as opposed to the hack and slash, a simple firecracker thrown into an oil slick will attract your foes and light them up. With a 3 pronged ability system you begin to unlock other attacks and abilities which are also integral parts of your arsenal. Such as drop kicking a zombie into an array of hazards and impaling them on spikes and bent bars on windows that were once used to barricade survivors until the creatures inevitably broke through. Point is, you have options outside of your weapons. The online portion is enjoyable and adds a new element to the gameplay. Whether you team up with a few friends and battle the hoards, or take on the an invading player in the form of a super zombie it's a lot of fun. If you choose to "Be The Zombie" you'll enjoy a whole new upgradeable character, full of unlockable abilities to help you eradicate your human adversaries. Hunt them down, stalking them in the shadows while watching them with infrared vision. Let out a scream and watch their movement scramble taking satisfaction that you're getting in their heads, then pounce when the time is right. There's a lot to enjoy in this game, and if you can take the clichés and, at times, pointless fetch quests with a grain of salt you'll see that the pros definitely outweigh the cons and there is no other Zombie game out there like it. The story and characters are interesting and you get thrown into the world of dying light from the second you pick up the controller when GRE subcontractor Kyle Crane has to try and find a cure for the disease.

My one complaint with the game is that once you beat it, there is very little to do other than continue to bash zombies or upgrade weapons. I have not played any of the DLC's, but it looks like the developer is wanting to continue to add content.

I think Dying Light is the best coop-multiplayer game in PS4 so far. Finished the game with a friend playing from different country with slower internet. The connection is good enough to play.

Playing at night is really hard and requires a lot of skill, knowledge of the map and, of course, luck. I myself avoided playing at night, because it's nearly impossible. The devs did not lie when they said people would be frightened to play in the night.

The parkour works surprisingly well, it's fluid, it's intuitive and it's easy to jump from roof to roof, climb things and so on. Again, if you know the map well I guess you can do impressive things, win a lot of time and avoid the zombies better.

The graphics are beautifull, it's a true current gen game.

What I didn't like in this game was the fact that in the final missions it's too easy to avoid combat with the zombies, all you need to do is run, which is very frustrating and erases the difficulty of the game. Also, the final boss is defeated in a QTE sequence, which is very, very lame.

Also, I found the story very stupid and childish.

All in all it's a great game and a must have for every PS4 owner.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At the time of release, I didn't really know much about the game or what incentive there would be to buy it. I ignored it, thinking it was an indie game (due to a huge lack of marketing in my area). Several months later, my next door neighbour bought the game and I had a playthrough. I was shocked by how brilliant the game was. i only played the first mission, but in that I already knew who the main characters were, as the game has an excellent way of telling the story. So I bought the game just before my birthday, and I've now played through the entire game. I will go through the story (there is one, and a pretty good one) the positives, and anything that could be improved on in the future.

You start the game with a cutscene that explains about the crysis happening in Haraan, a small Turkish town which has been put under quarentine by the UN (best zombie apocolypse handling ever) and you are playing as a field agent used to salvage documents for your higher collective. You are Kyle Crane, an American male voiced by Roger Craig Smith (voice of Ezio from AC, Batman in Arkham Origins and the new Sonic) as you are airdropped right into the middle of the slums. You fall onto a light trap and badly injure yourself before being rescued by the runners of the Tower (your home base) and are patched up and welcomed to surprisingly open arms. Partly because you are nigh-on immune to the virus.

You quickly meet the main group of characters: Rahim; a young and daring ambitious parkour specialist (who looks like the main character from Pyschonauts), Jade; a famous local kickboxer who is aesthetically stunning but also quite fiesty (cliched, kind of) and Brecken, the leader of the Tower (and also the guy from the trailer) who sounds and acts exctly like Jason Statham. Rahim gives you a quick parkour training where you soon impress (if you are good at the game) and are used to do shifts for the people of the tower.

The main story is: Keep the Tower up on their Antizin intake (which isn't an actual mechanic in the game, which I wish would be) and either scavange from airdrops / buy from Rais (bad idea) and help Dr. Zere in his research to find a cure. The deals with Rais go **** up so you are forced into a Civil war of sorts with his men. As with Zere, he asks you to fight through the old disheveled parts of town to Dr. Camden, his co-worker. Not gonna spoil too much more, so you can play the game yourself.

Pros include: There is a massive emphasis on realism and immersion. The game's amazing audio and vibe allow this with precision, especially early in the game where you are beating off zombies with nailed sticks. The zombies are graphically detailed and their AI is (mostly) well made. With the first person element, you feel like you are really Kyle Crane and you are really in a fight for survival. The protagonists are so well acted, I could see Crane's voice actor picking up awards for this year where voice acting has really not been strong. The open world is incredibly beautiful and feels more next-gen than 90% of next-gen games. The game is beautifully crafted and the art style is utterly superb, and when it turns to night, it holds this with its gritty dark tone that makes the dark something to be feared.

The gameplay is incredible. The dynamic parkour and the environment go hand in hand in a beautiful display which feels like heaven if you've just finished playing Cod. This really helps both at day and at night, in every situation. The combat feels like a massive improvement from Dead Island is gets even better when you move further down the skill tree. It gives the gain replayability when it is this fun to bash zombie's brains in. How ironic.

Now for the negatives. It is best said that the cliches could drive a nitpicker round the bend, especially with all of the comparisons to Far Cry. The antagonist is very flimsily portrayed, who rightly is just a Turkish Vaas knock-off. Turkey are 'good' on their knock-offs. Also, the AI can be laughable at times, mainly with Rais's men and grounded zombies, especially with the voice queues. Unfair to say, they weren't given that good a script. Said script which makes half of the characters in the game unlikable. The character models on most NPCs are the same and are similar to that of the Marines in Halo: CE. It doesn't help when most character have the same body language besides the ones that have had effort given to them. And finally, the online. It may be good in co-op, but Be the Zombie is pretty damned broken. Just stick to the main game.

I played this game almost fully on my own, so my experiences are from playing alone. My experience: the game is brilliant. This is possibly the best zombie game ever in terms of immersion and playability. I love this game, it is some of the most fun I've had in a single player game. One problem though: When you run out of missions, it gets boring quickly. Very quickly. I give this game a 9/10 on the fact that it plays so damn well.

Dying light on the ps4 is a very fun game. It's a amazing open world zombie action game. If you like zombies buy this game right now! The story and characters are cliched but you will not care one bit because you will be having to much fun. There have also been no bugs as I played. The graphics are amazing thanks to the ps4 and it works very well on the ps4.

I played this game with a friend, we did the story in co-op. It's been along time since we have played such great game, it's was perfect. It's kind of a mix of many games, you can see allot of FarCry in it, but in a very good way. Story is good, graphic is good. And the gore is perfect! Chop off head, arms and legs, even split them in half, I LOVE IT!!

Dying Light is the funnest game I've played in a long time. When I read about the odd placement of the jump button, I had thought it would take some getting use to, but it was very easy to adapt to, and with the parkour elements, it's placement was understandably necessary.

For me, though, this game's winning feature was the gore. As a gore hound, this game made me feel like a vampire bathing in a blood fountain during a blood moon lol. Splitting zombies apart every which-way was satisfying. The variety of weapons is great, as well as the traps, crafting, and parkour - which is just as well done as the Assassin's Creed games, though a little more difficult due to the first person view.

If it had a downside, it would 2 minor glitches, one involving securing a specific safe house, and the enemies you are required to kill appear on the map and radar, but not in-game. This is fixed by exiting the game and continuing. The second glitch involves failing or restarting challenges, occasionally the character will "float away", but it's fixed by hitting the jump button. Other than these two minor glitches, I haven't experienced any other issues.

The graphics are great, the environmental graphics are slightly better than face graphics, but it's up to par with other games on the PS4. Lastly, I don't have the best internet connection because I've foolishly gone wireless, but despite that, I've experienced only a few rare disconnects while playing co-op with a friend online. I did not notice any lag, however. It's a great game, and I highly recommend it. I've purchased "The Following" DLC, but have not touched it yet. I'll review it when I do. Until then, this game gets a 10/10 from me.

Many will remember that Techland the developer behind Dying Light was also responsible for Dead Island, another open world zombie game from a few years ago. Although I really enjoyed Dead Island at first I found it became boring and I never ended up finishing the game. Techland has said that Dying Light is the game that Dead Island should have been and I couldn't agree more. I've read a lot of user opinions that expressed concern that this would be another Dead Island and I'm happy to say that although they share similarities Dying Light clearly stands above. The basic story of Dying Light is that the city of Harran has fallen victim to a virus and you are sent in to receive intel. Although the story isn't perfect and there are some typical cliche plot lines I enjoyed the story compared to a lot of reviewers. Roger Craig Smith the voice behind Kyle Crane (the main character) does a fantastic job. Gamers will remember him most notably as Chris Redfield from Resident Evil. I found myself thinking exactly how he would respond before he would in situations and this added to my compassion of his situation and the characters around him.

Now I stated that this game is both fun and terrifying both of which are reasons I enjoyed playing so much. During the initial stages of the game the player is "weak" before he has undergone many upgrades to each of his three abilities trees (more on that later). This means that when thrown into the thick of things your best option is to run and to do it during the day. This is where the "parkour" style of the game similar to Mirror's Edge gives players the upper hand against the hordes of zombies. Even when not trying to avoid the enemies I found myself taking the high road, climbing from building to building to building. This is fun game to explore and I hope that if there is a Dying Light 2 this aspect is expanded upon. The best part of all the climbing and jumping is that as you do it you gain experience in the Agility tree and for each level you can choose a skill to expand upon such as a Drop Kick, Slide and many others. This further entices you to take the road less traveled as you try to gain every ability.

Sometimes however you can't always run and that's when it's time fight. Dying Light offers a few different melee weapons such as machetes, baseball bats, and hatchets among others in addition to a few different guns. Melee weapons are found randomly with differing attributes and can also be upgraded to improve their damage, handling and durability as well as add unique effects like fire or electricity. As the player gets stronger so do the weapons that can be found and this, in addition to weapons breaking over time, means you're constantly keeping a few on hand and changing weapons as you progress. I never found this to be too annoying and Techland did a great job of keeping the system balanced so it never became an annoyance, just another factor to deal with. As you fight you gain experience in the Power skill tree which grants you different abilities like a 360 degree attack or slashing down at enemies as you jump down upon them. Like the agility tree, you'll want to upgrade this tree as well and you'll be forced to do so at certain point whether you want to or not.

The last skill tree (available from the start) is the survivor skill tree, which is advanced by completing main and side story missions as well as helping random encounters throughout the game or by picking up airdrops. Abilities include traps and allowing the player to expand their inventory storage. This tree can only be fully completed by seeking out all the side missions in the game which are plentiful. From a completionist stand point you'll want to complete these as you go as the the amount of experience gained is relative to the point in the game at which you receive the mission. Alternately you can always return to these missions once you complete the game so there is never a need to complete them immediately.

The last part of the game experience is the terrifying aspect. Now this will vary from person to person to point that I've heard of some people being unable to play the game. I find that to be a little extreme and for me it was more of a exercise in anxiety control especially when you venture out a night. The game rewards you for this though with double experience point to the agility and power tree, however there are stronger enemies about and vision is obviously more limited. Without spoiling anything let me just say that the night can be a little terrifying in the early stages of the game however by the mid point I wanted to explore the darkness just for the extra thrill.

All in all I really enjoyed Dying Light and I would highly recommend it if you enjoy any combination of parkour, zombies or open world games.

Dying Light is one of my favorite zombie game so far, the reason is that this game has a horror style, there was one when u open a closet and then u jump off from ur chair just to see a zombie jumpscaring u, even at night time, going out side is the best for a horror style also, and again to find a Night Hunter (Volatile) chasing u, and the parkour mechanics are impressive and spectacular, my most favorite Parkour Skills of all is called Drop Kick, and it's fun to kill zombies, kicking them into any traps, a must-have game to get, so I give this 10/10 Open World, and spectacular areas, even when u are on a high places Expand

The world of Harran is beautifully designed and is your playground to manouevre in. The day and night cycle is great and is a great contrast from being the hunter during the day to the hunted during the night when deadly volatiles lurk about. The encounters at night are tense and you do feel a sense of vulnerability. The upgrade system is very rewarding as well and crafting your zombie slaying weapons is great. I have one gripe with game and its the large amount of side missions which, are often repetitive and tedious (I don't want to retrieve another thing from a store surrounded by zombies.) You do find that you are often an errand boy during these side missions. Aside from that a worthy purchase with a superb 80's influenced horror soundtrack. Expand

Dying Light is what Dead Island should have been. It's the game that Dead Island fans dreamed of if they liked Dead Island but thought it'd be better if it wasn't mediocre. Going off the same formula and streamlining certain elements while expanding on others, Dying Light is a zombie apocalypse heaven.

Jumping off from Dead Island and improving on it in every way, the gameplay is more streamlined and less clunky than the original, and movement in general feels a lot better. The new parkour system is just what the zombie genre needed, as it turns out. Adding free running elements lets you outpace the zombie hordes quickly and efficiently, and gives a new vertical element to gameplay, allowing you to scale up buildings and hop across rooftops. Despite its first person perspective, the parkour system in this game actually works really well, though of course sometimes it gets a little confused, as more than once I tried to grab onto a ledge and the game would space out and let me fall. Not that big of a deal when there's another ledge below it, but it's a pretty big one during the moments where you're hanging off 1000 story death drops and the parkour HAS to be accurate, though in those moments I have enough confidence in the engine to register all my movements and grab onto those ledges. And then you get a grappling hook later on in the game, letting you soar across rooftops and completely ignore gravity Rico Rodrigues style. Yes, please.

Like Dead Island, you have a plethora of options to choose from when it comes to zombie murder. The weapon crafting system returns, letting you create lightning machetes or flaming sledgehammers, or flaming lightning bladed sledgehammers. Weapon degradation is still a thing, but at least you can repair weapons out on the field instead of having to go to a workbench every time like in Dead Island. Besides, weapons are plentiful enough to where you don't ever get attached to any one weapon. Weapons in this game truly are just a means to an end. The guns are better in this game, as well. Shooting isn't a complete detriment anymore as the shooting controls are actually good this time around, letting you pop off zombie heads with ease, though guns for the most part are only used against the human enemies who also have guns, since there isn't enough ammo in the world to go into the zombies sticking purely with firearms.

Instead of multiple classes like Dead Island, you instead have a single character that has 3 skill trees offering different advantages that suit certain playstyles. A skill tree focusing on agility allows you to run faster, climb higher and evade the zombies easier, while also giving you tactical options on the field such as the ability to jump up over a zombie's head for a boost up and away from danger, or enhancing your parkour abilities with rolling recoveries. Another skill tree focusing on fighting ability, letting you slice, cleave, smash or crush your way through the zombie hordes, and give abilities like a head stomp that instantly kills downed enemies. A final skill tree focusing on straight survival, letting you last longer against your enemies in general, providing health buffs and regeneration, also letting you camouflage yourself with zombie guts, letting you pass through entire hordes completely unharmed. You can choose which skills you want to get as you go, but in the end you'll have enough skill points to get all of them anyway.

The story is better than Dead Island's that's for sure. It doesn't take itself quite as seriously as its predecessor did, and it helps that the characters have some excellent voice acting and writing behind them, though it's still not a really memorable story, going through cliches like a check list and having a weird Far Cry 3 moment where you're hallucinating in a drug trip because if Ubisoft did it, Techland has to do it too, apparently. Also the final boss is a quick-time event because of course it is.

Of course the USP of the game is the day-night cycle. During the day, the zombies are slow and clumsy and dumb, easily outmaneuvered or overpowered by the player. However, at night, things get much different, turning the hunter into the hunted as super zombies begin to prowl around. You don't stand a chance against these enemies, requiring you to avoid them until daylight. These zombies are fast, powerful, and can easily reach you even from full sprint and even from rooftops, as they can climb very quickly. You must be very quick and use your environment in order to outpace them if you're caught. However, the braver player will stick it out during the night, as you receive double XP in the dark. Zombie sandbox by day, survival horror by night. This dichotomy in Dying Light's gameplay is a very interesting one and is fun to play.

Dying Light is much more fun than its predecessor, and does a lot of things right. With a better story and expanded mechanics, Dying Light 2 could be a solid 10.

However, Dying Light perfects most of its former self's weaknesses, by streamlining the gameplay and taking care of the buggy/glitchy mess that DI and Riptide were.

The biggest addition to the gameplay formula is the parkour movement, which seems blocky at first, steadily becomes fluid the more you upgrade your abilities. Another notable improvement is the story; which is much more compelling and is fleshed out pretty well by the main character's voice actor. (Whom did the voice for Resident Evil 5 and 6's Chris Redfield, so zombie fans will like that!!)

Overall, the campaign along with its side quests will take you some time to get through, as the areas you explore are large and take time to get between areas. Ironically, walking on foot doesn't get that boring, unlike its predecessor, which almost forced you into zombie hordes just getting point A to B. As for the quality of the campaign, it's okay, rate the story around a 7 in terms of writing.

Dying Light is worth your time, if you like zombie/apocalyptic action games, Mirrors Edge and Dead Island. Hope you enjoy it!

And let's mention the horror u have in the night well i consider this game 2*1 for this night section it's really a gameplay aspect that raises the score for the game
    I LOVE THIS GAME

This game surprised me a lot. Ok, the story. meh, forget about it. Nothing much there.
However, the gameplay is very good. Whenever you are out in the world, you feel a sense of danger and when the night comes... oh boy, it gets really scary.
The crafting mechanics are surprisingly good. However, towards the end of the game, you feel like a God. Your skills and weapons get really high

The crafting mechanics are surprisingly good. However, towards the end of the game, you feel like a God. Your skills and weapons get really high and the enemies remain as there were in the beginning.
The parkour mechanics work really well. At some stage in the game, you feel like the spider-man.

The graphics feel a bit dated not many expressions on the characters faces and the dialogue is a bit silly in some occasions.
Overall, if you are into post-apocalyptic/survival games I'm confident you will enjoy this.

Dead Island.

Enjoyable cohesion of open-world design trends integrated into a compact, but layered environment that constantly rewards.
Robust (if at times finicky) parkour system.
    Dull and derivative main story.

The best game to play with friends I have ever played. If you are into zombie survival, open world, fun character movement, and rpg elements and you have one friend who is too, you will literally love this game

A brilliant game in the zombie genre. An open world city filled with different kind of zombies, melee combat you can "feel", environment that matters when you play, beautiful graphics and sound. This is a game that did not deserved the negativity that it has. Best thing is that you can play coop the campaign with your friends (or other players) with a drop in, drop out coop. Dying Light, as many have pointed out, is extremely derivative of a lot of other games. In fact, it's one of the most derivative games I've ever played, with the only original thing about it being it's night hunt mechanic. In fact, it's one of the most derivative games I've ever played, with the only original thing about it being it's night hunt mechanic. With that said, Dying Light is also one of the most fun, addictive and enjoyable games I've played in a while. It' just very fun to run around, easily scale buildings, whale on different types of zombies and create exceedingly more powerful weapons. The story is simple but well written, and it gives enough context for the gameplay and enough incentive to keep going. And the continuous support for the game even five years later is nothing but amazing. From it's so-so graphics to it's unoriginality, Dying Light doesn't seem like it's any good, but the clever mix of all of it's elements and their skillful execution (barring the occasional bugs galore) give the game a lot of charm and make it surprisingly great.

Jogo Incrivel.
