I don't have this game, but I already hate it. The reasons are: it has so much DLCs (Bandai is just thinking about making money) and this game's online trophies are just unbelievable and unfair. I wanted to buy this game but i changed my mind

    Pros:
    - Easy to learn fighting mechanics.

    - A horrid and repetitive Story mode that makes you fight the same characters (clones) over and over again through many hours of pointless grind.

    - This game's currency aka Zen is even more of a grind just to get online avatars and colors at RANDOM.

    - The difficulty progression is all over the place, some fights are extremely easy only to get far more difficult on the next and vice versa.

    - Once again did I mentioned how bad the loading times are?.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! If you are a casual video game player, you will enjoy it. If you LOVE Dragonball like I do, you will enjoy this game... for about 5 hours. Then you will HATE IT.

    Story Gameplay: 6/10

ONLINE GAMEPLAY: Absolutely horrid. I will say there was very little lag though, but my god that will not matter. With the "Newcomer Friendly" gameplay, it makes it almost impossible to play. You're opponent will spam the same moves.... over.... over... and over.... Sure if you "get good" you will learn to block certain attacks. However, combating designed game flaws does not equal enjoyment. Maybe if health bars were increased, and space was expanded it would be ok.

However, you have two imaginary walls on each side that your opponent will use to their advantage. There is a reason this particular style of gameplay has gone mostly to the wayside. You will consistently run into people who spam consecutive 64 hit combos with stacked ultimates or they use the borders to pop you up in the air while switching characters. It is truly infuriating. Sure I could spam the same defensive move to counter it over and over again, but WHERE IS THE FUN IN THAT????

Its an absolute spam fest, which is truly a shame since there is so many cool animations and cool fan service in this game. You may have watched the trailers, you may have watched the developers play the game, but that will not be your experience.

Rarely you are matched with a similar player who wants to enjoy the game for what it is, and those can be some really fun match-ups. You will also be paired with weaker opponents which can be fun so that you can do whatever you want... but thats 1/4. There is no real "skill" to this game.

The pacing of the fight takes away from all that could be great for this game. You will play this game for 2 days, and then you will never play it again. So, if you have $60 burning a hole in your pocket, and you want to drop the Zeni to get yourself immersed in Dragonball... Then go ahead. If you are a casual gamer who doesn't care about DragonBall, do not get this game!

After you get over the voice-overs and different color uniforms... it will wear thin. If you want Dragonball nostalgia with a TON of fan service, please go play Dragonball Xenoverse II,

So what I mostly hate about it is that majority of your abilities are locked behind combo's where each character has only 2 abilities which can be used at any time. So compared to previous dragon ball games where you could spam freely abilities, you are very locked here.

it feels like all characters are similar to each other and that the abilities are just "filler" spells as everything is connected to combo's only.

I remember amazing dragon ball games back on psp's and playstations, then xenoverse got out, which actually was horrible too. so yeah definitely a **** game from my perspective.

I really wanted this game to be much much more then just a spam fest and the game being pretty much decided on who gets in the first hit but that is literally all it is. If your the first person to get hit you usually lose your first character and then lose the rest of the match. Thats it. That is the entirety of the online game play.

Fighters is overall a solid game with features from previous dbz games coming together in a package that I hope future dbz games adapt. But that's where my praise for fighters ends, the story mode and lip sync for English voices were average at best, the lobby when connected online disconnects often, the game shouldn't be $60 consider the low character count, short story mode, and short arcade mode. The fact this game is receiving high reviews is disrespectful to old dbz games like tenkaichi 2&3 which gave you so much content and was more true to the dragon Ball anime. I'd recommend to buy this game at around$20-$30 for anyone not a 2d fighting game fan because this game is made for them instead of the dragon Ball fan. The counterargument is always that unique characters are best in a fighting game but dragon Ball is not your traditional fighting franchise if you want a fighting game with unique characters why not buy the other hundreds of 2d fighters out there why stamp the dragon Ball name to a game just so the people your targeting can have a crappy experience if they don't like the side scrolling 2d fighters? If your the casual dragon Ball fan there is not a lot of content there for you and the game will grow stale but 2d fighting fans will enjoy it. This is bandai namco's sad attempt to increase sales by getting dragon Ball fans to buy it by attaching dragon Ball to the game DON'T FALL FOR IT!!! And if Bandai is reading this give back to the fans and remake a game for the fan which is the tenkaichi series of games. Expand

The soundtrack doesn't sound bad. But DBZ fans will be more than tired of hearing the songs of the game. I am not sure about how much music has actually been recycled from previous games, but it feels like it's the same music we have been repeatedly listening to since the good old Budokai days.

The story mode has been upgraded from static pictures with boring dialogue to slightly animated scenes with a slightly improved plot. Not enough, really.

Last, but not least, let's talk about the frame rate. Playing on a plain Xbox One or PS4 I have the feeling that the animations run at 10 fps at times. There is a lot of room for improvement.

I was excited about this game! And then I tried the Beta and I started doubting. Sadly for all, it feels like a disappointment.

The game also sacrifices a great bit of depth for simplicity and homogenization of combos, as there is virtually no execution barrier once you get jump canceling down (which even a new fighting game player can in a matter of maybe an hour). Also, the amount of offensive options as that exist compared to the almost non-existent defensive options in the game make every character fall into the rushdown archetype. The game is there to pander to Dragon Ball fans who will buy anything with the name slapped onto it, nothing more. Expand

Unless you're playing for story mode, which is bland and cleche with a bunch of cringe diologue, stay away. The first game I wanted to PvP with and it's terrible for anyone who can't string chains that will empty a full life bar in just a few hits. At least Xenoverse had enemy reading and viable ways to counter your opponant if you read them correctly... you know... skill. This is just a spam buttons until you start a combo and then don't let them out. There's no "mid combo" break. If you're in a chain... you're in, you CANT get out until they're done or your life bar is gone, and with some of the animations, they take forever. So you're sitting there, watching your character get the snot beaten out of them and then they switch characters and do it again, and you just sit and watch because there is quite literally nothing you can do. Sure, if you can pull it off it's cool for you, but I don't like being a cheap little **** who relies on one button spamming to victory. I actually want to learn intricacies of the mechanics and rely on my skill... not my ability to hit a button over and over again. Expand

Fantastic animations, movesets, story. Only problem is not enough time went into the mechanics at launch or after all these years unlike previous titles. A Dragon Ball fighting game that we’ve been waiting for since forever loosing hope along the way. It was designed with obvious deep understanding of the source material, visually it’s almost undistinguishable from the anime and it embodies the 'easy to learn, hard to master' rule, which makes it both interesting for BlazBlue veterans and accessible to newbies lured by the Dragon Ball license. The single player modes aren’t particularly engaging, and the broken online makes engaging in the multiplayer take way longer than it needs to. Those lucky enough to have a thriving local fighting scene are the real winners here until the servers are sorted out. FighterZ isn’t entirely my thing, but it’s easy to see that it’s as well-made, polished, and fanservicey as humanly possible.
