    Good game. I did have to drag the game out a bit due to uni, which made it a bit less enjoyable. Overall it might be just as fun as 2016!

After chaos of Doom 3 and Doom 4 and not knowing it's own identity, the Doom franchise was in a strange place, but despite being very apprehensive, Doom 2016 was the absolutely perfect modern Doom game. So I was excited about it's sequel and what might be next.
    Roll on Doom Eternal, recapturing a lot of what    I was incredibly surprised and thrilled by how good Doom 2016 turned out to be. After chaos of Doom 3 and Doom 4 and not knowing it's own identity, the Doom franchise was in a strange place, but despite being very apprehensive, Doom 2016 was the absolutely perfect modern Doom game. So I was excited about it's sequel and what might be next.
    Roll on Doom Eternal, recapturing a lot of what made Doom 2016 good, expanding on it by adding some new monsters, a lot of unique boss battles, and an actual story.

    There's a lot that Doom Eternal got right, and a fair bit it didn't.
    I for one like the puzzle areas and the exploring to find all the secrets. I know a few people find the puzzles weak, but I made my peace with them, they're not particularly challenging and break up the combat. I also like a lot of the new enemies, however the Marauders are just painfull, you can only attack at one point in time, and only once or twice if you're fast enough. As a boss they'd be challenging enough, but chucked in with dozens of other enemies is just unfair. I like the grappling hook, the vertical climbing, flamethrower, the new and improved plasma rifle.
    Also this iteration of Doom has added inventory management, which to a degree is fine, but even with cycling through all weapons and being resourceful, there are a number of times I ran out of ammo entirely, and was stuck right at the end of massive combat encounters.
    Some of the boss fights are just masochistic, I'm not sure why they're so much harder than the game itself but fortunately they do give you an option to replay with "Sentinel Armor" which buffs you up a lot, but the bosses are still challenging.

    I really hope for the next Doom, they tone down the inventory management, running out of ammo so often in a Doom game seems wrong.    … Expand

    Первую часть я буквально пролетел за пару заходов. А Doom Eternal проходил....6 месяцев. И даже не знаю в чем дело. Наверное в том, что игра на 99% вторична. Играть в неё сейчас просто скучно.
    Но всё по порядку. Начну с того, что игра выглядит, ощущается как оригинал четырехлетней давности. Да добавили пушку на плечо и кошку к супер обрезу, но пушка полное говно (я думал, что будет как у хищника, но нет), стреляет чёрти как, пока сдетонируют гранаты монстры разбегутся, эффективна может быть против тихоходных тварей, есть ещё огонь, но он нужен только для выбивания брони. При том она перезаряжается секунд 60. А крюк-кошка нужна только в определенных местах, подтягиваться к врагам смысла нет так как через 0.1 секунды враг сам прибежит к тебе.
    Ещё разработчики усложнили геймплей. Монстры стали сильней и жирней, и даже на лёгком уровне они более упругие чем в Doom 2016 на среднем.
    Тем более к концу игры авторы практически перестали выдавать боеприпасы на аренах, а взрывные бочки из которых можно их выбить исчезают где то после 8ой миссии. Так что пополнить боезапас можно только бензопилой, а её ещё зарядить надо. Поэтому после той же восьмой миссии иногда просто приходилось самоубиваться об какого нибуть импа, так как остаётся только удар рукой, а он в этой игре бесполезен опять таки если не заряжен.
    Да, появиляется супер меч, но заряды для него тоже очень ограничины и вместо кровавого экстаза на экране получается тоска. Зарядов то нет!
    Может кому-то мазохизм на экране нравится, мне нет. Я хочу веселиться, а меня заставляют страдать. В Doom я чувствовал себя суперменом, а в Doom Eternal Фродо Бэггинсом который должен всю игру бегать от врагов. Может игра рассчитана на кооп? Тогда можно было бы объяснть сложность, но это не так. Авторы просто сделали врагов более жирными и сильными.
    Как по мне чуда из игры не вышло.
    Нам обещали сногсшибающую графику, переработанный геймплей, крепкий сюжет. На PS4 графика точно та же, что и в 2016м, как я говорил геймплей почти не изменился, по мне так стал даже хуже, сюжет.....м даа.
    Поиграв в игру час я просто не хотел в неё возвращаться. И так в течение полугода. Да игру прошел, так как купил цифровую версию иначе продал бы, но это не доставило мне удовольствия. Жаль!    … Expand

    This feels like a childs game in comparison to Doom 2016.
    It feels rushed, arcadey, and buggy. its missing the dark tone of the previous game
    In favor of dude bro culture. it stinks, and the devs cannot smell it.

    Great gunplay, controls, and combat. but terrible parkour and multiplayer
    The snap map from 2016 was more interesting.

    This could have been a good game if it wasn't for the fact that it has 90% of the crap western devs put on modern games nowadays:

    Also, there is a big problem on core gameplay in this game, they somehow manage to ruin what feels so good on Doom 2016. The pace is awful, it's like they want you to be technical, making every demon require specific weapon-mod-weakpoint combination, but also throws at you a horde of 20 demons on a close space with infinite respawn... And that doesn't combine well with the ammo mechanic of this game. Doom 2016 manage these a lot simpler, better IMO.

    Music is good, but not as good as Doom 2016.

    It has some good things tho:

    >The last maps, Nekravol and Urdak looks really good.

    A good shooter, but it ends quickly and is forgotten.

    Cool graphics, cool gameplay, in general, everything is good in the game, but I would like a few more beautiful levels.

    I tried to get into this, and there's some intense action and decent backdrops and graphics... I personally couldn't get into the platforming portions, as the actual design of the levels seemed excessively rigid; Every time I considered I might be able to do something clever to reach an unlockable, it turned out I was overthinking. This game is not really about thinking as much as reacting. Just get your adrenaline pumping and get ready for shooty gory goodness.

    Personally, I preferred the other modern Doom title over this one, as the flaws I perceive here weren't flaws in the other game. The closed off gauntlet-style portions are both good and bad; Being locked into an area that randomly feels like a deathmatch map sectioned off can make the intensity more personal, but it also makes the level lay-outs seem either formulaic or simplistic. Kind of comes off like being in a hellish playground. If that's what you want, then this game is absolutely for you.    … Expand

    Only the most amazing graphics, animations and sound could make up for this game and they suck. Everything is dumb, dim witted, done wrong, and half assed. Everything sucks. Everything is dumb. The animations are hard to describe its like a terrible animatronics scene everytime, things in the environment just might wiggle a bit like the most terrible halloween display.     Everything is broken. The gameplay the multiplayer the trophies nothing works properly. WTF IS THIS GARBAGE GAME. Not even a fraction of what doom 2016 was. Dont let these bots fool you this game is absolute trash worst shooter in 5 years of playing shooters.

    Good game, but not the direction I wanted DOOM to go. There are blatant arena-shooter setpieces with hoards of enemies and no cover so you are forced to run around, grapple and grab armor and ammo to try to survive the area you are in. Some people may like this, and some may not.

    Eso no es DOOM. Es otra cosa. Metieron una historia sin sentido. En un juego donde la dificulta es que te acorralen injustamente solo para aumentar la dificúltales. Lo pase porque realmente lo compre. Porque sino lo dejo abandonado.

    This was something new! This doom was very short and I don’t like the story why the HELL IS ON EARTH? Whatever I loved more the 2016 DOOM that was original retro game for the fans this eternal is some promo mainstream game.

    Didn't like doom 2016, returned it. Tried doom eternal and it was ok but its a waste of my time. Ill never buy anymore doom games. The original doom on PC back in the day was best

    I really wanted to like this game, I love games that are pretty difficult. The thing with difficult games however, is that you should really like the game's aesthetic since you will be spending a lot of time in it and repeat certain sections a lot of times.

    I sadly despise this game's approach to art direction and music. I know this is just really something that comes down to personal preference but this game just has this really edgelord/listening to dad rock/ iron maiden cover vibe. It just really irritates me and feels like you are moving around in a world of heavy metal kitsch. Since the story is non-existent that is also not really a reason to move forward.
    The shooting mechanics are good but there is a over reliance on switching weapons for a specific enemy that just feels really clunky. There is nothing fun about just looking at the weapon weel and deciding what you should do next when you are already so disinterested. The game's difficulty is relying on the fact that some enemies are weaker to certain ammo types and whenever you switch your weapon the momentum of the action just stops.

    Whoever thought it was a good idea to have platforming sections in a first person shooter should seek medical attention by the way.

    I know that those reasons for me to dislike it are the same reasons why a lot of people love it. All I can say is watch a trailer and listen to some of the soundtrack and see if it clicks for you. I am now playing Returnal and that game is basically the game I wanted this to be.

    My gut told me to not buy this game but it is hold in such high regard I gave it a chance. Sadly I did not really enjoy this at all. It's gunplay still feels solid though and movement feels pretty fluent (although I really think that a game that is so reliant on movement should be third person, definitely not first person)    … Expand

    really fun game enjoyed more than the first tho not as much as I expected. To me Doom 2016 and eternal none of them are as amazing as to everybody else but they are a lot of fun to play through and would be one of those few games that I return to later on

    Fast paced dumb fun action. I was playing on easy mode and it still remained consistently chaotic at all times. The gameplay is beautiful crafted to throw varying types of enemies, requiring you to use your whole arsenal of weapons. The gunplay    Context: I played through the whole game on the Playstation 4 version, running on a Playstation 5. This is my first time playing a DOOM game.

The gunplay fused with the level design and wonderful soundtrack create a true shoot-em-up first person experience. 90% of the game is shooting, upgrading, stabbing, rinse and repeat, all of which flow nicely. The other 10% has to do with the annoying jump puzzles. I died a lot because I am trash and it ruined the constant craze of dumb fun I was looking for. I also found there really isnt any reason to return to the game once I finished the campaign. The multiplayer was a decent attempt but it was anything worth investing time into. You do keep your upgrades from previous playthroughs and continue to upgrade them but, the single player gameplay doesnt change so all thats remains is to hunt for collectibles and complete mini challenges. I found the campaign to be short for a franchise that is historical a single player experience. There is no need to understand prior DOOM lore, which makes DOOM Eternal an excellent entry into the franchise.    … Expand

    Don't know why a Doom game is trying to be Super Mario Bros. If ID wanted to revive Commander Keen then it can do that, but this is Doom Eternal, not Super Mario Bros. Doom 2016 was better than this game for two reasons: less BS platforming and no Khan Maykr. If it's not due to Khan Maykr and the ridiculously awful platforming, then the game would be a 9 or 10, but unfortunately those twoDon't know why a Doom game is trying to be Super Mario Bros.     Waste of time and nerves. Some parkour simulator, but not a shooter. Wouldn't recommend: You'd spend more time jumping, climbing, dashing in-air than actually fighting.

I get you intended for me to go a different way, but you could've just planned your levels so that it doesn't have so many misleading jumps; I shouldn't be pretty sure I figured something out, only for an invisible wall to reject me into a pit... more than once in a level, I might add. I could stand on a moving platform that I would assume sends me to a secret when I cause it to change direction... Instead I get reloaded on the ground floor. I could try jumping towards some very clear horizontal swing jumps... It counts me as out-of-bounds mid-jump and damages me. For a game that's part platformer, I don't think that aspect really holds up on it's own.

    As someone highly invested in level design, it seems kind of lazy to keep blocking off areas I should otherwise be able to reach if the platforms were just rendered to match their physical appearance. There is such a thing as a natural flow to a level, and the developers seem to rely way too heavily on just putting up walls and boundaries in places to keep forcing level designs to work. The Doom game from 2016 had impressive maps where I really had to think out my route in order to come across secrets; Applying that level of care to this game often makes me feel like I'm overthinking and wasting time. It kind of feels like they're just putting me in a playground with a coat of hellish paint over it. I mean, it works to an extent; It's just not the most immersive Doom game I've played.

    While the level design isn't awful as a whole, it can be a bit disappointing that a lot of the most visually pleasing aspects of levels are areas you probably won't ever reach or interact with, whereas the maps consist of a lot of deathmatch-type areas connected by platforming that comes off as somewhat rigid due to the detection of the environment. Overall, this contrast of gameplay dynamics seems a bit less fluent than in the last game, with the closed off rooms getting repetitive kind of early.

    Overall, Doom (2016) was slightly better. This is still worth getting if you played that game and want another, though. Not particularly disappointing, but not really groundbreaking, either. Kind of just more of the same, but at least they didn't mess up a working formula.    … Expand

    Doom is all about the action, and it feels great here. It's fast paced, frantic, but always manageable thanks to the many tools at your disposal. There's some strategy required too, as exploiting the different demons weaknesses gives you an edge in combat. You've also got to manage your health,    Doom Eternal is a fun, challenging FPS that improves on its predecessor in a number of ways.

    Doom is all about the action, and it feels great here. It's fast paced, frantic, but always manageable thanks to the many tools at your disposal. There's some strategy required too, as exploiting the different demons weaknesses gives you an edge in combat. You've also got to manage your health, armour and ammo, and you've got ways to replenish all three. For example, if you're low on health, you glory kill a demon, which provides health drops. If you're low on ammo, you use the chainsaw, which provides ammo drops. This all helps to keep the combat engaging throughout the campaign.

    Although it plays quite similarly to Doom 2016, I think I enjoyed this sequel a bit more thanks to a couple of factors. I like the added mobility found in Doom Eternal through the new dash ability and the grapple hook on the super shotgun, both of which serve to make the movement both in combat and in general even more fun. I also felt there was more visual variety in the missions compared to Doom 2016, as you travel to a greater variety of destinations in this campaign which made for more memorable levels.

    Another way Doom Eternal differs is in its platforming sections which I personally enjoyed. They're a nice breather in between combat sections. Eternal also tries to develop the lore of the Doom Slayer but this is one aspect of the game I wasn't amazed by. It feels almost out of place in a game all about the action, and a lot of it is explained through codex entries. This is a Doom game, so stopping every time you find a page just to read some overwritten lore doesn't fit, at least in my opinion. More dedicated fans of the franchise might appreciate this but I wasn't all that interested.

    Although I enjoyed most of the game, some enemy encounters were quite frustrating. Marauders, despite having a very cool design, can be annoying to fight as they require you to slow down and divert all your attention to them, waiting for a cue that tells you you can damage them. You have to fight them a few too many times. It can also be a bit too easy to get stuck sandwiched between enemies and/or terrain in some fights which can lead to some frustrating deaths if you fail to escape.

    That said, I really enjoyed the final boss fight. It was tense, epic and provided just the right amount of challenge.

    Doom Eternal also has an asymmetrical multiplayer mode where one person plays as the
    Slayer fighting two player controlled demons. It's decent fun and its something different. There's not a whole lot of depth to it but it's worth playing a few matches.

    Overall, I really liked this game. It's got excellent combat, a great metal soundtrack, and some cool collectibles. It's not perfect though - some fights can be frustrating, the storyline/lore feels unnecessary, and during my playthrough I encountered a few bugs including a crash. The multiplayer mode isn't as compelling as the single player campaign either. Given all that though, this is still a damn cool shooter that consistently delivers high-octane thrills.    … Expand

The very annoying tentacle monsters that are causing me to jump up, electrified floors and fire spitting buttholes in walls that damage the Doom marine, but not demons -_- great. Next to that, unless you commit to using a different weapon or ability every 5 seconds, you'll die very easily. Which frustrated me considering it undercuts the doom guy! Isn't this dude supposed to scare the **** out of all the demons? Instead he dies like a little **** way to easy.

    And that's what i don't understand. Doom 2016 gave you freedom to play as you wanted with any of the deadly guns you owned. Doom Eternal forces you to do this strange mixing of weapons, and if you don't want it... Screw you.

    Levels in Doom Eternal are more lineair than in Doom 2016, and i like it! For people who don't care about exploring in a fast paced FPS it is much more straightforward. This is definitely an improvement to me.

    The graphics of Eternal are great. It has a good soundtrack, and the enemy designs look good. However, the ones from the previous game looked much scarier. Eternal's enemies from time to time look more cartoonish. Apparently that is to match the first Doom game, although i don't understand why that is something good.

    The UI is overstuffed and too small in certain places. The Health and Armor gauges are clearly visible, but all the extra prompts for abilities are so small it is hard to see what's on them in the middle of a frantic fight. Id software gave a surprisingly large amount of options to customize the experience, but guess what they didn't add... A way to make the UI bigger!

    At first i considered the secrets you collect fun little ornaments. But once i collected a secret that was basically a Doom LP, i realized it was self-indulgent crap. Even the developers weren't shy about the fact that they are just ripping of a way older game. Is this supposed to subconsciously make me want to buy the Soundtrack?? So dumb.

    Doom Eternal is definitely not a bad game. It functions properly, and there is true entertainment in it once you get the hang of it. But i feel like Doom 2016 worked better with the choice of how you want to play, and with a story that doesn't try to build too much lore. More is not necessarily better! Doom Eternal is like an overstuffed goody back, and Id software forgot what they went to the store for. I give it a 7/10. It is a good game.    … Expand

    Fun gun when the player can run and gun. Otherwise, there are way too many boring jumping puzzles. I'm glad I got this game as part of Game Pass Ultimate because I would have been unhappy paying full-price for this gorgeous, but extremely frustrating game.

Stupidly Difficult jumps , some bad level design and stupid shield enemy like madura that requires timing = annoying game for disabled people epecially the jump in urdak that requires you to jump from coffin to coffin and shoot a target. I paid for a shooter not a platforming game. They should go back to the great design from doom 1. Sure the game is faster , maybe more complex but if jumps etc ruin someone progress and stops them for over 30 -40 minutes it means the level is badly designed. Also the combat sometimes is to much and the new secret encounter garbage is annoying as hell to complete sometimes. Finally what is the point of in game rewards /cheats if you need to beat levels first to use them? ----- Stupid jumps ruined this game. Update changing score from 5 to 7 cause it was still a good game. I just played it the wrong time straight after doom 1. Some of the stuff in doom 2 was good like the giant boss at end too.… Expand

    Doom Eternal lost the frenzied simplicity of its predecessor. There are new mechanics that are uncesesaary, and even boring. The levels aren't as clever as the original, the exploration is a drag and, God forbid, there's even platforming. After a few sessions, you realize that eternal is inferior to its previous iteration on every aspect. I regret buying it.
