    The Definitive Edition was how I played Dishonored for the first time. Therefore, as usual in these cases, I will evaluate the game for what it is, not for the quality of the remastered alone. What is certain is that this is one of the most brilliant video games of the 2010s.

    Dishonored created a new world with its own lore. The Empire of the Isles is a 19th century pan-European    The Definitive Edition was how I played Dishonored for the first time. Therefore, as usual in these cases, I will evaluate the game for what it is, not for the quality of the remastered alone. What is certain is that this is one of the most brilliant video games of the 2010s.

    Dishonored created a new world with its own lore. The Empire of the Isles is a 19th century pan-European cultural construct in names, architecture and fashion, built upon the style of a British constitutional monarchy where, however, the monarch exercises executive power. The despair of the rat-borne plague that sinks the Empire serves as the main background, however the harrowing slaughter of cetaceans for the production of whale oil (Dishonored's main commodity) at the basis of the Empire's industrial revolution plays a part as well. Intrigues, conspiracies, supernatural events, books, plot twists and side stories help complete this compelling world and a story driven by mature and spot-on writing.

    Dishonored's gameplay is brilliant, but that's an understatement. Playing in first-person view as Royal Protector Corvo Attano, the player can move with high verticality along the levels, dealing with various kind of enemies, to his targets. The game offers lots of approaches in movements and attacks. Given this, zones in each level are quite large and allow for a fair amount of exploration. Corvo's equipment, weapons and gadgets, can be upgraded using collected Coins. Corvo is aided with supernatural powers gifted by a god-like man, called The Outsider, which can be obtained and enhanced by using Runes. Using such powers requires and consumes Mana which can be recovered with potions, just like Health. Other collectibles like Bone Charms can enhance Corvo's passive attributes. Combat is generally performed with the sword, blocking blows and moving to the lunge, even though a personal crossbow and a Flintlock-like pistol can be used for ranged combat, the latter by enemies as well. Main targets can be assassinated in multiple ways or neutralized using alternative methods. Interesting side quests can also be completed to get extra rewards. The stealth approach and with few deaths (Low Chaos) is encouraged however it must be clear: to explore all of Dishonored's approaches, even the most stylish or absurd, High Chaos is required and rigid stealth gameplay must be sacrificed, which means many dead and being detected, which in turn affects the ending of the game because the more corpses, the more proliferation of plague. By combining gadgets and powers (such as attaching a mine to a rat, taking possession of it and detonating it near enemies), some surprising gameplay solutions can come up. Either with Low or High Chaos, gameplay is indeed very satisfying, varied and deep.

    However, the game has some problems. In stealth, the fact darkness offers shelter only at a certain distance leaves me dumbfounded. Maybe it's to counterbalance the player's powers but I find it a mostly wrong choice: the result is that even in pitch dark enemies see Corvo at short distance, while they shouldn't. The enemies' AI is good, but it has happened that it acted in strange ways, jamming pathways and compromising my planning.

    Dishonored's graphics were criticized at the time. True, it was the least successful aspect of the game, but I think its art style impacted. Still, it's an aesthetically pleasing game. Too bad the remastered doesn't add much apart from 1080p and little else; the lack of 60 fps is unjustifiable. The audio and music component of the game is of high quality.

    As said, I think Dishonored has been one of the most brilliant video games of the 2010s. A nice plot, a captivating world and an amazing, deep gameplay. Too bad for the graphics side (and for a lazy remastered), but all in all Dishonored is a masterpiece of European production which, in a decade, has aged very little and very well.    … Expand

    Realmente esperaba que este juego me gustase bastante más. Es un buen juego, está bien hecho para quien le guste ese estilo, pero en mi caso particular me costó mucho mantener la motivación porque no disfruté el gameplay, ni la narrativa, aunque a nivel artístico es muy bonito.

    Enjoyable game where you have total freedom to choose how you will finish the missions. Nice artstyle, and the levels looks very beautiful.

    loved dishonored as a kid. love it now. one of the few games where the graphics and gameplay alike dont get old.

    Dishonored definitive edition bring a good experience with a good combat gun style, but with more time in playing it becomes a little bit boring, but overall it is a fun and great story telling style and stealth option to pick to end the game in a fashionable way.

    My favorite game is now on Playstation 4! Normal graphics, a good story and just divine gameplay, which has incredible variability, so also all the dlc! Unfortunately, compared to the previous generation of consoles, Dishonored looks so-so, but the visual style and gameplay make this game the best immersive sim.

    Мне совершенно не понравился визуальный стиль игры. Все персонажи страшны как смерть. Я понимаю, что делали французы с их врождённой женофобией, но можно же было прекрасную половину сделать хоть немножко, хмм, прекрасней? Кстати в мире игры, как не странно, не изобретена юбка. Да, да в мире Dishonored полностью отсутствует такой необходимый, как я считаю, для женщины элемент, особенно в 18-19 веках, как юбка, платье, халат, сарафан и т. д. Кстати во второй части мужики халаты носят.
    Теперь о боёвке. Она мне тоже не понравилась. Я думаю в Dark Messiah она была лучше.
    Ну и самое главное. Меня совершенно не зацепила атмосфера игры. Не зацепила и всё.
    Подведу итог. В принципе игра не плохая, просто наверное я ожидал от Arkane чего то другого. Я прошел игру дважды, на Xbox 360, а за тем на PS4. Скажу честно, какой то графической разницы я не заметил, единственно на PS4 вертикальная синхронизация включена была. Но ни там, ни там, меня так и не зацепила атмосфера этой игры, а это самое грустное.    … Expand

    Буду краток. Игра-хорошая, но есть минусы. Геймплей очень хороший, достовляет удовольствие. Сюжет-такой себе, даже для 2010. Лор и сеттинг-хорошие.     Really great stealth gameplay. I enjoyed the art style immensely—it was cartoon-ey enough to feel like a game (which is a good thing in my mind), but also somber enough to drive home the complexity of the world the creators were trying to build and to remind you that you were killing humans, for those who chose to go the lethal route.

    The music and sound effects were also top notch. I    Really great stealth gameplay. I enjoyed the art style immensely—it was cartoon-ey enough to feel like a game (which is a good thing in my mind), but also somber enough to drive home the complexity of the world the creators were trying to build and to remind you that you were killing humans, for those who chose to go the lethal route.

    The music and sound effects were also top notch. I loved that every now and then the guards would randomly shout something like ‘GOTCHA’ at a rat—it scared the mess out of me because I tried to get Ghost (‘never detected’) on every level, so every time, I thought they had found me. Plus, the gentle scream in the distance of the wind, with the loud clang of the propaganda announcements........the sound was really well done.

    But I did deduct two points from my score, and I did that because I didn’t like that a nonlethal playthrough limited me to so few abilities and weapons. If there had been more options available to me as a nonlethal player (and a player that would never choose to be lethal), this would have been a perfect 10. But all game I only used sleep darts, Blink, and chokes. Meh. There could have been more fun to be had here.

    And there would have been, had I chosen to be a little more violent in my methods. But I just can’t stomach it, you know? I don’t care how bad the person is, God hasn’t given me the right to kill anybody. Even in a game (when I have the choice). Another way to solve this problem would have been to turn them all into shrubberies and call it ‘Plant Wars’. But that sounds stupid.

    All in all, great game, and one I highly recommend.    … Expand

    This game is AMAZING.When playing it for the first time,the story represents the state of Dunwall.The graphics still stand,thanks to them not being "realistic",but painted.Not only that,the engine that the game runs on can keep up with the player's shenanigans.It is as well made as DOOM's when it comes to possibilities.But the soundtrack touched me the most.Combined with the dystopianThis game is AMAZING.When playing it for the first time,the story represents the state of Dunwall.The graphics still stand,thanks to them not being "realistic",but painted.Not only that,the engine that the game runs on can keep up with the player's shenanigans.It is as well made as DOOM's when it comes to possibilities.But the soundtrack touched me the most.Combined with the dystopian landscape and the stealth mechanics,which are entirely optional,the world feels "lived",and makes you want to rewind time back,before you even pressed Start,and play it again.… Expand

    Absolutely loved the steampunkish setting and the story: dark and gloomy and stinking of whale oil. Also the possibility to use vastly different approaches on how to do missions is amazing!

    One of my top 3 favorite games on the ps4. I've also played it on ps3 but on ps4 it's the real deal. The hardware does justice to what the developers wanted to achieve. Art looking graphics but as a videogame. I love everything about this game, the story, art style, combination of stealth and freedom of choice which affects your actions.     Dishonored was a solid title. It had very solid mechanics and two very different ways to play through the story later reflecting on your ending.

    Visually I did not enjoy the character designs. Most men in the game looked like ruffian gorillas but the rest looked good. The game still played beautifully. This isn't as close as impressive gameplay-wise as Bioshock but definitely a good    Dishonored was a solid title.     I love these games - stealth done well. Unlike Thief on PS4 (pc originals were fantastic). Good story, nice graphics and enough variation in abilities to choose your preferred playstyle

    The unique game experience. You have freedom of choice, special skills to help you play as you see it convenient. Nice morality system, not forcing to be good or evil. Interesting plot, diversified missions, charismatic main character, not bad voice acting. Difficulty level is just fine, you won't be bored with this game.     After watching gameplay on youtube I decided to give this game a shot and was glad I did. Game was mainly for stealth but I found myself just killing everyone regardless if they spotted me or not. Loved the power options and most of the challenges were pretty easy. Was more of a fan of Dishonored 1 vs Dishonored 2.     Although there are great ideas present, such as the cool powers and world, it ends up falling short. The stealth was disappointing and the narrative fairly uninteresting. Just ends up being boring by the end.

    I finally got around to playing this for the first time, and it is AWESOME! Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. "Dishonored" is one of the best games I've played in a long time. It plays well, it has a great story, and it's a ton of fun and a very addictive stealth game. It has a couple problems such as the long loading screens, a cinematic right after mission 6 that was veryI finally got around to playing this for the first time, and it is AWESOME! Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. "Dishonored" is one of the best games I've played in a long time. It plays well, it has a great story, and it's a ton of fun and a very addictive stealth game. It has a couple problems such as the long loading screens, a cinematic right after mission 6 that was very exposition-heavy, and your character has no development, but man, "Dishonored" is such a great game!… Expand

    It just gets a 0. Why? Because its blatantly obvious. This is not a definitive edition. If a score is to be given for this its only for what it improves over the previous gen games, which is just a shoddy graphical improvement and actually worse performance. The original PC version is still ahead and it plays much better.

    Dishonored was an incredible accomplishment—a game that offered stylish murder and great storytelling in equal measure. It accomplished everything that it set out to do and made it look easy, while games all around it failed to impress. Three years later, nothing in its genre has come close.

    I regret not having played Dishonored when it originally came out, because the Definitive Edition looks like time has been standing still for the last three years, at least when the PS4 version (which does not offer 60 fps, by the way) is concerned. [11/2015, p.52]
