Well its 2016 and im still playing Diablo 3 from time to time! I can't deny it anymore - its just simply great game. I was playing Alienation which is really good game but I started to reminiscing D3 and in comparision Alienation is simple, unpolished and well only the setting is better - and thats only because I'm more into sci-fi.
Only flaw is that the story is really silly and the game

Diablo III on PS4/XB1 is the definitive edition for me. Yes, Diablo "is a PC game" and "#PCMasterRace!" and all that, but I can't ignore just how much more fun Diablo is with a controller, not to mention same-screen co-op! Inviting friends over to play has become a weekly thing, and we love almost every minute of it!

Inviting friends over to play has become a weekly thing, and we love almost every minute of it!

Blizzard did an admirable job condensing the inventory and skills management into a workable solution for console, and it works really, really well... when playing by yourself or online. However, (and this is why it's a 9 instead of a 10) the quick-equip system is not nearly robust enough for same-screen co-op, especially with three or four players. We have a house rule that no one drags everyone else into staring at their menus unless we're in town, or someone finds a legendary. This is often broken later in the game, though, because three colored arrows in three categories is just not enough information to determine whether you want to switch to that new axe you just found. Invariably, one person wants to make a change, and then everyone does, and before we know it, we've spent ten minutes in menus, only two of which pertained to you. Quick-equip works well until about level 50-60, but it breaks down as soon as you start caring about elemental or individual skill % boosts and other stats that aren't really reflected in green and red arrows. The menus are fine for the most part when playing online or by yourself, and quick-equip is so close to working really well in same-screen co-op. However, if we just had a little more information, that would be super fantastic.

Besides that, UEE is excellent, and it's my favorite local multiplayer game in a long time! Even though I spent 300+ hours on Diablo III on PC including Reaper of Souls, I can't imagine going back.

Pay attention game developers. This is how you convert a PC game to consoles and get it right. Plays well, awesome multiplayer and more loot to collect then you can shake a stick at. Highly recommended.

The levelling up/skill system is great and you have so many options that even after hours of play you can still experience new ways of playing.
Having had a quick look at standard Diablo 3 on Xbox 360, I think they've made some great amendments to this version.

MULTIPLAYER - It's been a long while since we've actually had a good, couch coop game. This is where the game earns it's 9/10 for me. It has a brilliant Apprentice System where anyone can play with you and if they are a lower level their stats will be boosted whilst they are in your game. They have made all the right decisions with both the local and online game and that's rare to see nowadays. I've had hours of fun on this game with all my mates.

What I experienced was the same game, but the feeling couldnt be more different. Never regretted that I grabbed it to PS4, and made a clean slate (leveling up another Barbarian). Just reached Paragon lvl 110, and it still feels fresh - so for Me, this has been money well spent!

The graphics are outstanding with the native 1080p resolution running on 60fps, and the gameplay is silky-smooth, which cannot be said on the PC version. No matter how I adjusted the graphics, it still went below 30fps at some points of the game, and I am not talking about a potato PC. There are some minor features that I miss, for example zooming in to the character which could be binded to the left stick click, but it's not a deal breaker for me. The only complaint I could have is that the game on normal mode is way too easy, but the difficulty can be changed anytime during the gameplay.

Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls the console version. I do know why they call these games Diablo, and it is not because Diablo is the main villain. It is because these games are so **** addictive it is unreal. I never played Diablo 1 or 2, I played 3 on the Xbox 360 and then again when it was originally re-released on the PS4. I must say replaying through this game again is just like when you watch your favorite movie again it; you may know it beat for beat, but it is still an experience you continue to enjoy.

The story of Diablo 3 is all about the Black Soul Stone, and defeating the last of hells lords. You play as one of six different classes, but ultimately everyone just ends up calling you Nephilim. The story is serviceable it isn't bad, but this isn't the next Lord of the Rings if you know what I mean. For those who've played it time and time again tend to skip all the dialog. It is fully voice acted and has these story drawings inbetween anytime you did something crucial; mostly going through the acts. First timers to this game I would recommend actually listening to the story and diving into it because it is worth at least that.

The sound in this game is a lot of background noise honestly. It has the sound effects you'd expect, but no real music to it outside of the CGI cutscenes. The voice acting is anywhere from bad to just barely getting the point across. I played as the Crusader who was a new addition to the game on the PS4, and he sounded like he was reading his lines, not the voice acting you'd expect. The game looks good on the PS4, but if you own this on a previous console it isn't a vast enough improvement to go out and grab a new copy.

The gameplay is a dungeon crawler. What I notice throws some gamers off is the top down perspective, if you are one of those people who have seen gameplay and thought that maybe it wasn't for you. Play it. Seriously go out rent, borrow, steal I don't care just get your hands on it because it is damn near instantaneously addictive. The game keeps you playing mainly on the leveling up and the promise of bigger and better loot. The enemies don't serve much of a serious threat for the most part. This is a lot like playing the lottery. Most of the time you will get either crap or maybe something slightly better, but that one time that you get a legendary item than it sets off those endorphins that make you never want to stop. The game is long and with infinite replay value. I've beaten the game on two of the 12 difficulty settings. Each setting doesn't just make the game harder but it gives you better and better loot. The level max is 70 but it doesn't stop there with the paragon levels you can continue to make your character into a unstoppable killing machine. Then you add the Reaper of Souls on this and you get one helluva game experience.

It is safe to say Diablo has something that few games are able to muster. I play it for so long my eyes turn bloodshot and I realize that I was dehydrated. Overall while the story is serviceable, and the sound is just noise, the graphics being good for what it is (excluding Blizzard Cutscenes). The gameplay is why people love the Diablo series and if you are new to Diablo 3 or just want to play it again this remastered game will not steer you wrong. I give this a 4.5/5. I leave you fair barbarians with a question. Should Blizzard port, or make more of their games for consoles as well or just stick with PC?

To be honest, I originally had no intention of buying the PS4 version. I was content with the last gen version. But I REALLY wanted to play the expansion, but didn't want to buy it again for last gen. So I caved and got it for the PS4.

Visually the original section are exactly the same as on last gen. The expansion areas do look a little better and detailed, but not much.

Where the Ultimate Evil edition redeems itself is a wealth of new content and rebalanced game mechanics. I still think it should have been possible as an add-on to the original. While grumble about being double dipped, at least I kinda got money's worth.

    Overall:
Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil edition is a blatant cash grab, but a damn good one at least. Worth getting if you've played the original. A must if you haven't.

    Side Note:
If I had not play the original, I would have scored this a 9.5.

Only the final boss can endure my attack a bit longer than that but still no challenge. If not because I wanted to know the story, I would have quit halfway . I started a second playthough with Wizard on hard mode, it felt better this time but still easy. Diablo 3 ditched out many good mechanics from Diablo 2, such as NO UP SKILL and STAT, no health potion (Drinking potion becomes a skill that has cool down.) No mana potion eithter (it regenerate itself), free town portal and identifying scroll (so what's the point of identification then ?). There are a lot of tools for you too use. Very few AI companions (only 3 from story and 2 are guys), no hiring system anymore.

    - Online co-op is P2P so if the host lags, the game lags leading to lots of rubber banding
    - Frame rate does dip noticeably especially during co-op, but is mostly solid while solo

The game is constantly being updated and the updates are coming quicker and quicker to PS4 so there's not much disparity between PC and PS4 these days, the amount of free content they've added is quite impressive and they don't seem to be slowing down any time soon. I'm new to Diablo but I'm really enjoying this one the dialog is a little stale but that doesn't really take much away from the game for me. There is a lot of customizations as far as weapons, armor, and moves that aren't overly complicated to switch around for the style you want to achieve. Definitely worth playing.

Long after the game's release its finaly looks good and balanced. Developers listened to the players and made the game better than it was the original Diablo 3. Recommend to familiarize with Diablo 3 is from this edition.

I echo the sentiment of a good value buy. Perhaps wait for further price drops even still... Console players who have yet to try Diablo or similar dungeon crawlers might enjoy this thoroughly. I'd recommend watching bits n pieces of a lp if ya don't know what to expect.

I played as a wizard on both PC and Console, and this character is really not optimized for the console: all AoE spells but one (black hole at lvl 61) are useless, you can't really aim in the console version, also no free button binding, and finally the useless aim button. The framerate has never dipped for me, despite being what looks like high PC settings. The added tweaks to the controls are most welcome. The addition of the roll mechanic involves you in the game much more than mouse/kb clicking ever does. I never zone out and have the "oh crap, I wasn't watching my health" issue with this version. It also drops loot smartly and contrary to what many say, the managing your inventory with the console UI isn't difficult. You can learn it in no time.

Sadly, I don't know if the game will get many updates. The PC version has a season ladder and other end game content added lately that I'm not sure will make it into this new gen version. That keeps me from rating the game a 10, it just seems a bit divisive on Blizzard's part. I can understand making a new control scheme and UI that works with the console but why not make sure each version has the same content? If ever they do update the new gen version, I may change my score. I don't believe the last-gen owners even got a choice to upgrade to ROS without buying the game again, so it doesn't look good for any future updates.

In the end, best version of what has become a great game after a terrible launch.

First technically the game is very solid without any bugs to report after more than 20 hours of gameplay, and no framerate issue even when there is fifty enemies and four players on the screen. About the graphics there is very nice hand-drawn backgrounds but it doesn't change the facts that the game isn't beautiful and not particularly worthy of the PS4.

About the gameplay, Diablo is known for being the king of hack'n slash and well it sure is everything you'll expect from the genre, diferent class with gameplay subtleties, nice leveling, coop and looting systems, it's very solid once again but it lacks any surprise and the whole game is basically smashing those buttons, there's no moments to recall especially except maybe the bosses but once again you killed them like any other enemy, it just takes longer.

Concerning the story I was surprised in a good way about how detailed it was, it's really a good heroic-fantasy story with a well developed universe around it and the extension (Reaper of Souls is a very good follow up on it). The game story (including the extension) will last about 20 hours, but once you've done with the story mode you can always go grinding for better loot in dungeons that will always change of display (number and characteristics of enemies) that can keep you coming back for more.

In conclusion Diablo 3 is a fun game very solid in all aspects but without anything out of the extraordinary which makes it a fine game if you're looking for a fun coop or hack'n slash experience but not unmissable.

It didn’t grab me so I just skipped through it. That’s my only criticism.

The game feels good, it’s a fun loop, it’s a fun grind and it has a ton of replayability. It’s a game that you can sit down and play for 30 hours or 100+ hours. It has the versatility to allow the player to play until their hearts are content.

I guess this reflects my enjoyment of the series (and I have to admit looking forward to Diablo IV) but this does not get a 10 because I recognize that outside the storyline all this ended up being was a loot grinding dungeon crawler. I have a twisted admiration of the top grinders of the Season but I was not interesting in engaging with post-endgame "best of the best" theatrics.

Fantastic, engaging storyline ... but nothing genuine to offer for RPG gamers in the endgame. Its a game to play, enjoy and finish.

Co-op makes this game genuinely fun, as long as you all manage to keep up with one another. I have to admit, I could not put it down the first day, and levelled my Demon Hunter up to 30 easy enough and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I played on my own (none of my other friends are really into this sort of game), and was pleased that you can get an NPC team-mate to accompany you, as well as some weird pets.

However, the game seems awfully shallow, with a few expositional cut-scenes and some dialogue that takes place in a central 'hub' area in each act, fleshing out the plot. There are side-quests, sort of, but it's a fairly linear game and I sort of feel like I'm just grinding through it. You go into a dungeon, you fight to the end, then you go back and sell/salvage loot. There just doesn't seem to be much lore to the world, or any interest in expanding it. If you're coming to Diablo for a rich back story, you may be disappointed.

Also, the game is quite easy at first, though you can change the difficulty in game. To wit, I have never played Diablo before and I have died once in about 8 hours of gameplay. I think I've used a healing potion, maybe, 3 times. I have put the game difficulty up to 'Expert' now, and may raise it again soon. This isn't a criticism, per se, just a warning to others that 'Easy' really is that.

To summarise, I quite like Diablo so far, but I certainly can't see what all the fuss is about. I'm enjoying plodding along, exploring, fighting, etc, but there doesn't seem to be much else to it. I never feel like I'm discovering the world, merely passing through. It's slickly done, very easy to get in to, and I'm sure there's a lot of fun to be had with a party of friends, but there's no real meat on the bones.

Still, there's certainly a lot of game here in this 'definitive' edition, and the game may yet surprise me. 7/10.

This can be fun to do with a group of friends...although the repetitive nature of the game will start to sink in over time. Repetition might be fun for some, and for those people Diablo III will not disappoint. Personally, I grew tired of jumping into a dungeon, killing off enemies, fighting a boss, and then reporting back to town for a lackluster reward. The real rewards in Diablo III come from fighting enemies on a hard difficulty setting and looting them for better equipment. The enemies will grow old though, and the constant back and fourth of the entire game may very well leave you disappointed. All in all, not a bad game, but nothing worthy of an above average rating imo. Expand

-The way they changed the game for controller compatibility really does work, it's fun and not hard to get used to. On the flip side if you play D3 on the PC as well, you'll find yourself wishing you could target specific mobs in large fights which can be a real pain to get over. Fortunately they dumbed down the AI quite a bit so the play with the controller ends up working out just fine with the rest of the game.

-Something I loved about PC diablo was seeing what other people were using, and the stats they had and the skill setup. Along those lines, it was fun to compare yourself with friends and even some competition over getting better gear. the PS4 version does not have that, you can check out a character when you are standing right next to them but if your friend isn't online, you can't see anything at all which is a bit sad.

-The game has integrated voice chat which is a definite plus if you're a social gamer and can help make your time spent that much more fun. 1 up on the PC version here.

-those are really my main points and just the things that really stand out to me. Other than that it's a really solid game on console.

Don't expect PC D3, think of it more like sacred or gauntlet or something, it's a top down dungeon crawler, and a great one at that. But keep in mind you will have to accept that on the console, it's really just another console dungeon crawler, it is NOT the same D3 but keep your mind open and you would probably like it.

7/10 because I REALLY liked being able to look at peoples gear and talk to them and watch chat and see items and achievements of friends and whatnot, I'm more than sure they have their reasons for not adding that to the console version, but I genuinely think that is a defining point of Diablo 3 and it feels somewhat naked without it. That said, I'll still recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun RPG for their PS4.

I understand that they are trying to appeal to the casual gamers but 2 had a MASSIVE fan base and they disappointed a lot of them including myself.

Here are a couple of things I hate about it:

    It had been dumbed down

What happened to dying and having to go and recollect your body and items? Takes a lot of fun and challenge in the game (something Dark Souls changed little).

What happened to the dark, gothic art design? Diablo 2 gave you worst feeling of being alone in a dark dungeon . Diablo 3 got the WoW art design making everything so fkn cartoony, it really ruins the experience for me.

The weapon class system pisssed me off the most. Hunter can't use anything apart from ranged. You fkn for real?! They should of done what Dark Souls done that you can use any weapon but if you're not suited for it, you can't use it well. Not enitirely banning them from using the fkn thing!

Rants aside, it has a lot of good too. Couch Co Op is one big thing that they did well. 4 player Co Op is also fun with the ability to trade goods.

The controller gives you better control and the dodge rolls play a big part in combat compared to the Click n Go system on PC.

Cinematics are excellent, they're spot on on content and character voices. It's just the in game models that are soo annoying.

    Overall I give a 7

    - 2 to crappy cartoony art design
-1 to dumbed down casual gameplay

I'm a fan of Diablo 2. I passed Diablo 2 at all levels of difficulty when I was in school. I was struck by the atmosphere of the dark Middle Ages in the first act. The fourth act took me to the mysterious Tibet. The developers managed to achieve this effect with realistic stylistics, beautiful symphonic music and attentiveness to the quests.
So I was disappointed when I played in Diablo 3. If they did the same thing, just using the new graphics technology, it would be better. But they very much simplified the gameplay and took away all your freedom.
Maps have become corridor, now you do not decide where to go (I did not like it yet in the Titan Quest).
You can use only those weapons and armor that suit your class. Therefore in the game there are only rudiments of role-playing game.
Almost all the objects heal you, and the potions become endless. Therefore, you are ineligible. Even at a high level of complexity, mobs gain more health, but they remain weak. Therefore, play quickly bored. The only challenge that you throw the game - it's boredom.
Also the game is very much lost in its own style. The graphics are absolutely unrealistic, the shells are endless. Their size is larger than the main character. Diablo 3 is more like a DotA than on Diablo 2.
The plot could not catch me. It was very simple before. But now you just do not care what the NPS say. You read the text, but after a couple of minutes you forget which quest you're performing. But it is not important. Because you still just need to escape and kill boring mobs.
I liked the customization of the armor. Very pleased with the cooperative regime. It works well and easily. I liked the new classes. The only pity is that there is no druid (I like to turn into a bear). Also, the game works well for ps4. Using the gamepad is convenient. Although there is a claim to the capture of the goal.
Minus one for the causality. Minus one for lack of freedom. Minus one for the lost identity. I'm betting 7. It's annoying.

Far too easy. I played as a barbarian, and in the entire 5 acts, I died less than 10 times, and I ended up beating the game on Hardcore II difficulty. No limit on town portals, too many health regeneration buffs and abilities, losing almost nothing when you die, and too frequently finding great items are some of the more major flaws. Another big problem is that it only lets you increase the difficulty to a certain point before you complete Act 4. So, I wasn't able to make the game any harder until I was nearly done with it.

good game, with a good variety of gear, with a lot of upgrades, a god number of spells per class and all that personalization which the RPG-fans loves. Nice detail in scenarios and monsters, but doesn't reach the level of addiction that bliizard has accustomed us, but it's not that far to get there. Still good game to play solo or multiplayer, and well elaborated classes.

My summary: must-to-play game, but not a masterpiece.

Huge throwback to Diablo 2 days playing on my pc
Bought this on a PS4 for 30 bucks, the whole collection, it felt more like a nostalgic trip than anything majorly new, not that am complaining. The last game worked wonders, and the new npcs added certainly helped enhance the experience.

Great game witch very creative and interesting story. I like the combat system in the game (mainly with bosses). but the game is too simple and after some time of the game we are able to defeat millions of opponents while losing 2hp. But I the idea and the whole game are really good.

The combat is fast-paced and satisfying, with a wide variety of skills and abilities to choose from, making it easy to find a playstyle that suits your preferences.

That being said, the game is not without its flaws. The storyline can feel disjointed and lackluster at times, and the repetitive nature of the gameplay can make it feel like you're going through the motions after a while. Additionally, the game's reliance on grinding for loot may not be for everyone, as it can feel like a chore at times.

Overall, Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is a fun and enjoyable game that will appeal to fans of the series and action RPGs in general. While it has its shortcomings, the game's strengths in combat, loot, and overall gameplay make it a worthwhile addition to any PlayStation 4 library.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A game made for everyone is a game made for no one and this is another example of selling out. Diablo started off as a game of tension and ambiance with some role playing elements and here we are at Diablo 3 which has really dropped the ball on tension, ambiance and rpg. This game has flashy graphics and is quite a long game and generally is a good time until half way through the game it just loses its initial appeal and is what it is nothing more than a time waste with no difficulty. This game will literally turn you into a non thinking button pressing game zombie. I can praise this game for having nice graphics and being a large game good for many hours of button pressing but it deserves a lot of criticism for not being Diablo and addressing its three themes which made it such a great experience. Total sellout. It even has kill streaks I mean cmon if that doesn't scream sellout to all the shooter games like call of duty then what does. This game is also really simple. I kept raising the difficulty as often as I could and the difficulty lasted about 10 minutes before becoming too easy again. This begs the question why should the player have to micro manage the software? Im sorry my opinion of this game is its flashy and gimmicky and a pretty terrible investment for any thinkers out there. Lesser competitors such as Wolves of Midgard have now caught up to the great Blizzard and sadly it is the competition that has now released the better game, warts and all. Expand

The only thing that drew me to the Diablo franchise was the lore (of previous games)...
The graphics is also almost cartoonish which is not consistent with the nightmarish story and lore the franchise wants to set

It's a shame that the Diablo series has proven unable to improve itself. It started out well with Diablo 1, really well. Diablo 2 is loved by many. But part 3 falls short in too many ways.

There are only realy 2 things it has going for it, the first being the many different kinds of attack moves the player can choose from. You get a fair amount of moves on each class and each move can be adjusted (sometimes quite drastically in function and appearance) by 5 runes. The other thing that it has going for it is the interesting loot system, once you get to the endgame that is. Legendary items are fun to collect and extract abilities from to equip through other means as well. Legendary abilities can be quite creative and fun.

Everything else about the game falls short, the storytelling, the cutscenes, the graphics, the music. But their biggest sin is the lack of a real challenge in this game. This game lacks any kind of real balance. You see, many games will design a game in such a way that things can actually go wrong because you made a mistake during combat. In Diablo 3, however, if you die it's probably just because you have to pick a lower difficulty level (out of the currently 17 available to you, yes you heard that right). And even if you do die the loss is completely negligible and you can just respawn right where you died. The only time you'll manage to find a challenge anywhere in the game is during rifts where the clock can become your enemy. The player is completely overpowering every enemy in the game, and the enemies fail to ever fight you in a very interesting way. They only really have two ways of attacking.. one of them just being attacking you directly, which you should survive (again, or just lower the difficulty level) the other is with targeting rings (from boss type enemies) on the ground you should avoid.

In conclusion, this game does not offer up enough variety in its gameplay to keep the game interesting. The attack moves are fun, and quite varied. But cool attack moves with no real challenge on its own should not make up an entire game. The game being a grind is one thing, but it also being a grind with no real purpose, challenge, or variety.. makes it such a waste of your time.

I had to write a review after so many praises for this game. For me this game is really boring and repetitive. After playing 5 mins there is not much new you can do. Sure you can upgrade your gear, get new skills but basically its just same button smashing all over again.

Even the graphics are so boring that in the crypt you might accidentally run backwards for 5 mins before realising

The story is just to be skipped, the loot doesn't matter until you start min-maxing it, and all the classes feel the same. Nioh has better loot mechanics than Diablo, and that's an actual game, not a mobile game wannabe like Diablo III.
