    Best DMC by far.
    This was my game of the year. I'm shocked it did not get game of the year.

    To be honest, i played every DMC game so far (including both campaigns of terrible DMC2) and i am kind of disappointed with DMC 5. I had way more fun with Ninja Theory's reboot. Story is funnier in 5 but combat just feel... off. I completed DMC5 but i don't think i never come back to it again.

    The best DMC since "Dante's Awakening". It looks fantastic thanks to the RE Engine which also powered Resident Evil 7. Stylish action, crazy humor and a good story all help to make this an instant classic. There's a bit too much loading screens, but that's my only real complaint. If you didn't like the DmC reboot from 2013, then you'll probably love this over-the-top entry. I would rate itThe best DMC since "Dante's Awakening".     i love this franchise to death and that may make my opinion on this game a bit biased, i think that this game is a top tier hack and slash with beautiful graphics, goofy dmc humor, and amazing gameplay. The gameplay lacks a bit of snap that dmc 3 has and it only feels satisfying when you're playing as Vergil which on the other hand makes the game too easy, the bosses on their own aren'ti love this franchise to death and that may make my opinion on this game a bit biased, i think that this game is a top tier hack and slash with beautiful graphics, goofy dmc humor, and amazing gameplay. The gameplay lacks a bit of snap that dmc 3 has and it only feels satisfying when you're playing as Vergil which on the other hand makes the game too easy, the bosses on their own aren't the best gameplay wise, although the killer soundtrack saves it, i still think that even with it's flaws, this is the definitive DEVIL MAY CRY experience… Expand

On the other hand, it kinda felt like a "look, dont touch" type of world with a combat system that didnt really do anything for me. I get that it is a hack and slash game and that combat arena after combat arena is the main point, but I kinda expected more. I think it isI kinda feel weird about this game.     Actually I always love DMC3SE most... But when DMC5 came out, it was like there's a fire burst in my world! Even the story of DMC5 is really awful, but the charming characters and god like action system really rocks!!!!!!

    This game looks absolutely phenomenal, the visuals are stunning, the environments are beautiful and the music is absolutely banging, easily one of the best and most important parts of the game.

    Arguably the best Hack 'n' Slash combat in any videogame so far, Dante is easily the best character to play as, his mechanics are insane and he has so many weapons, it's wild. Nero is very enjoyable aswell, at first he feels kind off generic, because his kit is all-around quite balanced, but once you unlock more abilities his combos are incredibly fun to do. As for V, he is... interesting, his gameplay mechanics are quite different but not really in a good way, he slows down the pacing by a lot and sometimes his levels feel like a slog to go through.

    I didn't really mind the story, the writing is a little bit weak but there are some nice plot twists and epic moments in it.

    The cast is pretty good, every character is entertaining and cool, but what bothered me is the very cheesy and cringey dialogue, the over-the-top "badass" one liners and the unnecessary jokes.

    I think the biggest issue of the game is the outdated level design, every level is linear and boring to look at, dark colors everywhere, pathetic puzzles and no variety at all.

    It's worth to mention that, at first, I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay and the characters, but once I reached Chapter 10, the game got progressively better and better, with Dante carrying the entire game, I really came to appreciate it by the end, it's just a very fun and solid game that I recommend to everyone.

    DMC 5 was so chaotic with enemies everywhere and very difficult bosses toward the middle/end, overall it's an amazing game and continues the epic feud between Dante and Virgil! Who will win in the end?!

    a blast of fun, for sure. somehow they managed to add another new protagonist that is unbeliavably charismatic
    the 3 playable character system kind of don't give you so much time to get deep into the characters, but they all play pretty smoothly and this is easily overlooked by the great story, enemies desing and visuals

    è sem duvidas um baita jogo, Sua dificuldade está no ponto certo, os 3 protagonistas são únicos e cada um tem um charme, os cenários são legais, pra mim é o segundo melhor game da série, atrás apenas do Devil May Cry 3. Porem DMC 5 é muito mais acessível e vai agradar um publico mais abrangente.

    Continuation of the stylish and very good Devil May Cry series is once again based mainly on Nero. gameplay, style and graphics are at a really top level, the story is in any case interesting, but short, I recommend it to everyone who likes challenges because the game has many levels of difficulty and the the highest of these is literally 'hell'

    - there is a mission where they recycle bosses which was annoying
    - story is a little bit short and i wanted more from this game because the fun i had
    - game is a little bit slow compared to the other ones and it takes time to get used to it

    that's basically it for the cons

    Pros:

    -the graphics are just a wow the new engine cap com used on resident evil is awesome looking

    - the amount of nostalgic feelings when you get in is just overwhelming and you remember just from that feeling alone how much game were good back in the day

    -the music for every character is awesome i actually want to fight more just for the music

    - micro transactions are present in this game but are so pointless and don't impact your game and i appreciate that a lot

    - the gang is back and there are new members such as Nico and V but also you get to fight with lady and Trish also Nero is so fun to play with and of course the man the legend Dante is back and when you get to play him the game gets so much better he lightens to mood and basically makes the game better because its Dante

    - the ranking style system is really rewarding and i always try my best to get a SSS

    - bosses are awesome and the Goliath fire boss is so much fun because of everything braking and you really feel like fighting something really strong and monstrous

    - the replay value in this game is crazy you can new game plus it with new difficulty every time and still enjoy your self that much

    in conclusion this was the most easiest fun review i had to write for a game simply because devil may cry 5 is that much fun i really recommend this game with a smile and this brings me to the final score my final score to devil may cry 5 is an easy nine out of ten    … Expand

With the enhanced visuals and animations, along with the tight controls and awesome moves iconic to the series, you will feel on the edge of your seat as you battle with the spawns of the underworld. Definitely a "I want to feel like a demigod" experience.

    This is all the more enhanced by the phenomenal graphics and sound design. The soundtrack in particular being a note worthy aspect, with awesome battle themes that ramp up in intenssiveness as you get more stylish rankings, which makes getting top rank more adrenaline pumping than ever! The graphics that had already shown their spectacular design in previous Capcom games have lended their amazing detail and glimmer.

    At last, the story, a story with plots that had been left open ended for so long have had their loose ends tied up quite nicely, I won't say more than that.

    In conclusion, definitely worth a play or two, and don't worry about not knowing too much story wise, there's a quick story so far in the menu to get you caught up. So get ready to rock, because DMC IS BACK!    … Expand

    For me, this game deserves 8/10 which is really good ! We need to take this game for what it is and what it has to offer. This game shines in regards of the combat options, the animations, the characters and the music (Nero theme is really amazing !) The game can be completed in a short amount of time (10-12 hours for a skilled player) but has great replayability.

    To be honest, I started this game with high expectations (my wife was really looking forward to see me play this game). Both of us were a bit disappointed as we were expecting a GOTY (9 or 10/10). Why exactly ? Here are a few weaknesses we noticed:

    1. The level design is weak and lacks creativity. The levels feely samy (especially past mid-game)
    2. There are no puzzles anymore...
    3. My wife (who is a backseat gamer) found that the game on Devil Hunter difficulty lacked challenge (the satisfaction is not the same as DMC 3 when we beat a boss). Maybe, it's because the yellow orbs are so abundant. For me, it was ok but my wife prefered DMC 3 for the challenge.
    4. The story was a bit weak...

    However, this game is still really great because of all the options it offers in term of combat. You also have 3 playable characters who have unique styles. To fully enjoy this game, keep in mind you're playing a combat game which is a playground where you can try so many combos and styles. Don't expect an adventure / action with rich levels and exploration.

    Let's go to the game itself DMC V brings us a frenetic gameplay as it already is and tradition with a great variety of weapons, enemies and frenetic action that is packed by a soundtrack that perfectly matches the visual of the series, a story not made for raise big questions but follow the well-known novel by the Sparda family being accompanied by a group of charismatic characters that work very well in this context. As for what doesn't work so well, we have the level of design, the design of the stages is very limited, repeating itself several times and giving the impression that we are walking in a large corridor several times, we also lack creativity despite this game being set in London could be in any generic city.

    Well short for those who want to know what a DMC experience is like V it's like playing an old game but in a positive way DMC is not a great cinematic experience that will make you question human existence no it just wants to be so **** fun, and it manages believe when you start playing soon you'll be juggling demons trying to achieve the highest possible note the game mechanics are so round that it's easy to waste hours just playing with the various weapons and possible combos the only downside is the slight alternative at the end and that the game ends abruptly but a delivered experience is so exciting that you'll soon want to start a new save to test out new possibilities.    … Expand

    Que decir... el mejor DMC de la franquicia, y tambien el mejor hack and slash de la actualidad, la evolucion de Nero, y el protagonismo (aun que sea un poco secundario) de Dante con Vergil sigue dando esa propia esencia que tiene DMC, una obra maestra.

    First experience with DMC, was disappointed. I hated pretty much every character and most of the dialogue. The story was alright, nothing special. The combat was good but wasn't good enough to hold my interest on it's own. The game looks solid, some of the enemy and weapon designs are cool but most bored me.

    Absurdo. Únicos pontos fracos são a variedade de cenários após mais ou menos a metade do jogo e o mal aproveitamento das personagens femininas. A gameplay é maravilhosa, todos os personagens são muito divertidos de jogar. A história funciona muito bem e me surpreendeu, não esperava uma história decente quando peguei o jogo. Simplesmente incrível.

The Devil May Cry series hasn't been seen for a while, but now it has come back with one hell of a bang! Bringing back all the old, with lots of great new, is exactly what I want out of an action game. With fast fluid movement, a ridiculous amount of combos, that make it a game you can just mash a button or carefully chain moves together but have fun either way. Old favorites like Dante, and Lady, as well as new faces like Nico and V, DMC5 has a lot for old and new players to enjoy. The story is silly with a very Japanese feel. It's a great background for what the beauty of the combat, bouncing between three playable characters (Dante, V, and Nero) who all have fun and different play styles. Nero with his interchangeable robot arm, V with the two demons he controls, and Dante who plays like Dante with 4 styles and a bunch of weapons that you unlock right to the end of the game. Such as dual wielding motorcycles. There is a style of play for everyone. And for anyone looking for a game that is replayable, this game is perfect with a range of difficulties, and the ability to replay levels with a different character. DMC5 is great for a boring day with nothing else to play. Overall Devil May Cry 5 is a game that I would recommend to most. While this game does technically have microtransactions, there is genuinely no real reason to buy them as the game itself has all the options you could possibly want or need.… Expand

    This game rocks so hard and if you're mildly interested, please pick this one up. I only have 1 issue, and that it relys on the whole "boss fight that you lose to advance the story", but everything about the game makes up for it 10 fold

    First of all I must say that this is not my kind of game. I played devil may cry 3 many years ago and I don't remember much but I think the gameplay dynamics are the same. It has a lot of action and during the battles you don't stop smashing buttons. This game has 20 missions that last about 30 minutes each one so it will take you about 11 hours to beat. I started the missions in demon/devil (don't remember the exact name) of difficulty and because I found it a bit difficult in the third mission I change to human difficulty (easier). My advice is that you choose human difficulty from the begining if you don't want any challenge and want to focus in the plot although I must say that it gets very easy until the end when I died twice in a battle but I have plenty of items to revive. But if you start with demon/devil difficulty and then you want to change to human you'll have to do all the missions again so think it well before starting. Good plot and good graphics although as I said, not my king of game, too stressful, ugly enemies and blood.

    PS: Don't push the "start" button during the cinematic because then you'll skip it!    … Expand

They really do outstay their welcome.

    The great combat is still here. There are lots of cool additions to Dante's moveset (which I won't spoil here) and you can use them to great effect.

    One let down gameplay-wise is that the game is fairly easy on the normal mode. I don't why anyone would want a Dmc without challenge, so I highly recommend playing on the hard mode. I think 3 difficulty options would have been better, but it's a small nitpick.

    As I mentioned, V's character is bit of a let down, but that's not the only issue story-wise. The villain isn't really very menacing, and the game's final arc is never resolved, leading to a weak conclusion.

    However, this game is great in spite of all that. This game is a must-play for anyone who enjoys pure action games. Maybe it's a sort of relief after playing Gow2018. Either way, highly recommend.    … Expand

    This game was difficult to master at first but once you do, ohhh man it gets wild. The standout is the gameplays variety with Nero, Dante and V. I found the platinum trophy immensely tedious more than challenging, since it requres you play the game about 6 times. but apart from that, what a game

    I seriously cannot believe a game could be so much fun, every character feels organic to play, i learn new moves everytime i watch a video or play more myself, truly the gamers game, no excessively emotional story forced down my throat, taking more time than actual gameplay, no forced walking sections, just a fun ass game that i find myself revisiting often.

    I've waited this game for 11 years, the hype was high and it definitely deserved it... The game was simply amazing, best graphic ever seen in a video game along whit the last of us 2, gameplay is amazing, probably the best action game ever made, bravo Itsuno and capcom... DMC IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!

    I was planning on playing this game over & over again until I got to the hardest difficulty. I was planning on maxing my characters out. That was until I played as V & realized I would have to play 1/3rd of the game over & over again as that boring character.

    2/3rd of this game is a 10 out of 10. It's just too bad that it's ruined by V. I honestly celebrate when he would go away or I would get to play as a different character.

    This game was absolutely perfect. If you could just pick who you want to play as for each mission, I wouldn't knock it a point. But the fact that you're forced to play as boring emo guy just kills a portion of the experience for me.

    I loved everything else this game was. The music, the style, the characters, the grandness of the way things are presented. 2/3rd's of a masterpiece.    … Expand

    Story is pretty stupid. Devil may cry 1,3,4 & DMC were much better in this.
    Also, removing devil arm and replace it with “mechanic arm”? Bad idea if you ask me. In dmc4 it was best part.

I'm quitting after about 10 hours, having beat the game once on normal (getting mostly A's or above throughout my first play through) and stopping after getting to the Goliath boss the second time. I just don't see the replay-ability that most DMC fans see. Honestly, I think the combat system could use a little more polish. V is too broken (button mashing with auto-battle gets you an instantaneous triple S score), Dante is outdated, having not changed much at all since DMC3, and Nero needs more polish. I'd also would've like the ability to cancel animations a little to make dodging easier.… Expand

    Another great addition to the franchise and I can’t wait for the next gen installment! Looked amazing on the RE Engine and I’m still a fan of the DMC game from ninja theory.

    When one rival put on weight, grew a bushy beard and decided to raise his son in the Northern bewilderness, the other chose a pair of stylish high-heels a couple sizes too small and the third now only appears to smash some oversized ta-tas, Devil May Cry 5 is proving that it is too early to put hack'n slash games out of commission. It's a gorgeous, glorious game of great current interest. A crown jewel from Capcom's most skilled goldsmiths.

    Although the online functions could have been better, the unique and satisfying combat styles of Nero, Dante and V greatly contribute in evolving Devil May Cry 5 to the next level. While gaining a more photorealistic look thanks to Capcom’s RE engine, the stylish action we have come to love from the series is better than ever.
