Although the online functions could have been better, the unique and satisfying combat styles of Nero, Dante and V greatly contribute in evolving Devil May Cry 5 to the next level. While gaining a more photorealistic look thanks to Capcom’s RE engine, the stylish action we have come to love from the series is better than ever.

This is exactly how a video game should be made: Fun, exciting combat coupled with a good story and a great soundtrack to create one of the best games of the year.

With a reliance on unique and diverse flow of action gameplay and writing that endears players to the characters’ and their story, Devil May Cry 5 is more a blessing. It’s fun, and it brought a smile to my face more than once. That may sound like a one-off comment, but it’s something I find significant when a game can elicit an emotional reaction from me, because it shows that it made me care in more ways than one. Devil May Cry 5 is frigging great. I think I’ll leave it at that.

Devil May Cry 5 is one of the greatest masterpieces of the action game genre. I can barely imagine any other games would be qualified enough to compare before Bayonetta 3.

We’ve been waiting for so long, but Devil May Cry 5 is finally here. With its great combat mechanics and spectacular action scenes, Capcom’s new game is another triumph for its now glorious portfolio.

On top of being one of the best looking action games ever made, none other hack'n slash has ever been so complex and varied, but also fun. It may be all about demons and hell, but Devil May Cry 5 is like reaching heaven.

While it is annoying that Bloody Palace mode is not available day one, it is coming as a free update on April 1st. Capcom has proved this gen that they are truly the best at 3D action games. They took some bold risks with the style and realistic flavour, and it pays off by taking on this new look that has never been seen before in any videogame. Even spectators are going to be extremely entertained by the spectacle that it Devil May Cry 5. Everything feels so fresh, and the advancements in the controls and fluidity in animation makes playing this refined masterpiece so hard to put down.

Capcom continue their winning pace with Devil May Cry 5. The game is everything a fan would want it to be and there is plenty of style, character and consideration made for newcomers also. Make no mistake, beyond nostalgic feelings from the past, this is the best Devil May Cry experience out there and one that should be enjoyed by as many devil hunters as possible.

Coming into DMC5 as a fan of the series, I had high hopes for DMC5. I’m happy to say those hopes were met and even Exceeded in some respects. While there is room to improve in some critical areas, primarily in level design, DMC5 kicks ass, in Style.

The game is a near-endless buffet of innovative options for turning enemies into mincemeat.

Devil May Cry 5 keeps what made the franchise so popular while refining its systems to near-perfection. With some of the most impressive animation and combat out there right now and the addition of Bloody Palace arriving in a free update this April, Devil May Cry 5 is the definitive DMC experience and should be played by everyone looking for incredibly satisfying & stylish combat!

This game is proof that single player not only isn't dead but it can still be enthralling, enticing, and innovative.

The world has long waited for a proper new chapter of the groundbreaking Devil May Cry series, and in Devil May Cry 5, Capcom has given us an experience that was very much worth that wait. While the game requires players to really invest in its concepts before its depth truly shines through, that investment will definitely pay off for those who put in the time and energy to master DMC5’s three diverse heroes.

Without being perfect, especially with respect to the camera handling and lock system, Devil May Cry 5 is an amazing action game with strong playable characters and a great sense of challenge and polish.

Devil May Cry 5 is a masterpiece in action. It has heart and charm in its epic story that comes full circle on the series. It looks sexier than the sun setting over a billionaire’s collection of cars that are parked on a Santa Monica strip in California. It plays phenomenally well and will leave you drenched in sweat and satisfaction when the end credits roll, while wishing for more of its sassy attitude.

A perfectly judged comeback that’s full of all the wild invention and stylish mayhem fans demand but proves surprisingly accessible and varied for everyone else.

Devil May Cry 5 is an excellent action game. It's an even better Devil May Cry, perhaps the best the series has seen just yet. It's aesthetically pleasing in ways I never thought possible for the series, and chock-full of love for the fans, oozing out of every pore.

Capcom has done it again, re-energising a classic series like never before, and pushing the genre forward in a fresh way. It looks better than ever, plays better than ever. It's Devil May Cry better than ever.

Devil May Cry 5 is quite easily one of the best action games on PS4. Flawless in the execution of its often jaw-dropping combat, it's a masterfully crafted title that begs to be played over and over again. Stunning presentation helps sell some of the coolest cutscenes going, and the story ties the series together with style. Among a sea of uninspired open world outings, Devil May Cry 5 is an explosion of character and laser-focused excellence. Capcom is well and truly back.

DMC is back with one of the greatest hack & slash games we’ve played in the past few years. DMC 3 is still a step ahead, but if you like the genre, you can’t miss it. It looks and plays wonderfully, and it’s also great to see Capcom is back.

A character action game with three characters, all of which are unique and fun in their own right, is a crowning achievement in design. Beautiful, stylish, and with depth that I feel compelled to conquer, Devil May Cry 5 gives back what you put in.

Devil May Cry 5 marks the return of an historic franchise, dictating the canons of what should be a great action game, even after many years of silence.

The game looks impeccable on the RE engine too, crisp, clean, bloody and gorified to the maximum.

It took a while, but Devil May Cry is back and better than ever before. The balance between Nero and Dante is perfect and the introduction of the new character V is very intriguing.

Devil May Cry 5 brings back old school hack 'n' slash mechanics to the new generation. For the first time in the series, Capcom emphasizes the storytelling. The game also shines with respect to its cinematics and graphics, which are are gorgeous with buttery-smooth 60 FPS on both consoles.

It’s not until Devil May cry 5 starts throwing tougher enemies into the mix and the main characters have most of their skills unlocked that the game really comes to life. Those who want the most out of it should be prepared for a second run at least. It may not be the best Devil May Cry — 2013’s DmC still holds that honor — but it’s a cracking action romp.

Devil May Cry 5 has some real flaws, but the awesome gameplay, underlined by its lovely graphics, and the fan-service that's displayed all around, makes it one of the great games of 2019. A must-have for beat'em all fans.

Devil May Cry 5 has its best moments when it lets its new and unheard voice roar free and wild but I think that too much time is spent on treading familiar ground of the series. Of course, the game looks more amazing than anything before it, but the tried-and-tested gameplay is only elevated by its pompous overdoses. However, the ending was a saving grace as it wasn’t entirely something I had expected. It left me in high spirits, all invigorated and happy that I saw the story through, although the journey to the conciliatory climax lacked excitement when it needed it most.

Fantastic over-the-top action, well designed characters with some good humor to boot and an interesting narrative make DMC5 a game that is not to miss, especially if you've been a fan of this franchise for years. Newcomers needn't worry either because a solid tutorial gives you all the info you'll need to stylishly smash all the devil spawn back to the depths of hell. The soundtrack and the cut scenes round things off nicely. The camera sometimes struggles to keep up and some of the environments can get a bit bland though. Capcom brings it's A game yet again. Recommended.

If you’ve played action games like Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Ninja Gaiden, you’ll feel right at home with Devil May Cry 5. It takes that familiar action gameplay, then adds an immense level of polish and some over-the-top battles that give it personality.

That Capcom was able to make this game so compelling and fun despite taking on a select few design risks is a welcome sign that Devil May Cry 5 might be the progenitor of a more varied kind of hell. Devil May Cry 5 is an over-the-top, chainsaw-motorcycle-wielding hellfire blast that catapults the series back into form, and it's one that leaves us craving more by the time the last demon falls.

Devil May Cry 5 converted me from a skeptic to a believer. Old fans and new alike will find something to enjoy in this title.

Devil May Cry 5 is an action title worth playing, filled with bombastic action, over-the-top character moments, and fun mechanics. It’s a game that forgoes any sense of nuance and relies on simply overloading your senses, and often succeeds at doing just that.

In terms of story and characters, Devil May Cry 5 is a double-edged sword. The coolness factor fits in comparison to the reboot and does not seem unnecessarily set up. The story itself, however, has little to offer and does not pull me through the game.

Devil May Cry V is the game fans have been waiting for, for better or for worse. It's not the best in the franchise but it's a welcome and stylish return to the original Devil May Cry saga.

It’s fun, in the ways that the old games are fun, and, taken out of context, it makes some interesting changes to mix up how you approach its beloved Style. Devil May Cry 5 manages to shake off the rust and remind us why we liked these games before, but you have to work to ignore the fact that some of its moves are just a little bit out of date.
