Didn’t like the game, it is really boring. Graphics and art is good. Characters are good to. But the game play is too easy. Story started to be interesting at the last hour.

Only played DmC 3 before, as a second entry it didn't fail. Great combat and the variety between the 3 characters is great, mediocre story with a lot of cringey moments, Bosses and enemies are average.

First experience with DMC, was disappointed. I hated pretty much every character and most of the dialogue. The story was alright, nothing special. The combat was good but wasn't good enough to hold my interest on it's own. The game looks solid, some of the enemy and weapon designs are cool but most bored me.

You spend 100% of this game killing enemies move to the next area and kill more enemies, and then maybe a boss fight. It's 2019, this does nothing to evolve the genre. Not bashing anyone who enjoys this, but it is what it is. The story is pretty generic too, heres the bad guy, grind your way to beat him by the end. Good gameplay, but anyone whoever played an hack and slash knows what to expect. Theres nothing new here, just a shiny paint of coat to a hack and slash game. It suffice to anyone looking to bash buttons until the enemies are dead, but anyone looking for the next god of war (2018) look elsewhere maybe. Expand

After finishing the game on the highest difficulty avaliable at that time I didn't feel like trying the higher difficulty for just how tired I was from playing this game.

Despite the Devil Hunter mode meant for veteran players of the series, it's still the easiest game in the series. Though I don't mind low difficulty as long as it's still fun, this game is so easy I can just mash tringle to beat the game, even on boss fights. If a game made me look at the other TV screen to see a movie while hitting the tringle button mindlessly and still defeating all the enemies without noticing than I know something is very wrong. It didn't happen to me with DMC1 and 3. The large variety of abilities can be bought by red orbs only make the game more of a button masher than it was without them, unlike in DMC1 and 3 where I had to be a little more patient with movement (I mean I could still button mash but not as much as here). The secret missions can be found within missions are helping a bit, making this game a 5 out of 10 for me, but overall DMC5 feels like a handheld game brought to consoles (a game you play only for short moments to not burn yourself up).

Welp, I was not expecting much from the game, but i still was disappointed with it. The storyline is straight up garbage, V is boring to play as, since he is OPAF, Nero is taken straight from DMC 4, almost all the same moves, combos ETC, with new Devil Breaker mechanic(which is simply boring and unfun to use, and there is even a hand, that acts exactly like his demon hand from DMC4). Story too short and simple, combat system is playing like the street fighter hack and slash. As an adult serious player, you will dislike this game. I don't think this is a masterpiece. If you want to play a rich story telling game, go for Persona 5. If you want to play a great combat system game, go for God of War. DMC5 is nothing, it's just a kids' and teenagers' product.

However, in my opinion game has stuck at 2004 and in terms of the story it is way worse than DMC3. Combat is fun and it has lots of variations but Bayonetta did it better. Again I think game did not get better much after DMC3 and its just a little better version.

Story is very predictable and many people would say it does not matter but for me it does. I wanna be emotionally invested to the characters to have any care and have a better immersion to the game. This part fails dramatically even for DMC series. I did not care about anything. Some characters are very cringeworthy and not funny as Capcom writes might have thought.

Cutscenes are very well made but there is not much action happens. Its always stops at the most interesting moment. You do not have any satisfaction from it like it was with Dante Vs Virgil fight at DMC3 and how epic it was.

And the most embarrassing part is level design and art of these levels. They are very generic like its ps2 game. It is not what you would expect from AAA game in 2019. This game has a photo mode for some reason, why it needs it when there is nothing to capture other than same looking corridors. Bosses are very unforgivable. They reuse bosses. Only final boss made me excited for a little bit.

Overall, I am disappointment. DMC (2013) was universally hated but I think it had better levels, better story. Yes, main characters are far more likeable here but game overall is just fine

it's a decent game. I could give it 8 of 10, if it wasn't DMC. But considering the legacy - it's mediocre at best. Current developers ignored all evolutionary steps made by Ninja Theory for previous game. But they also didn't deliver as much content as DMC 4 had. And it definitely not as good as DMC 3 was, by any means.

Nero and Dante have some neat additions to their gameplay and the combat Is still great even if some things are worse than 4 it's still vary similar. it's still DMC.
but to be honest the game is very rushed and lacking in content. most of Dante and Neros moves are just ported over from DMC 4 and there's not enough new content added to justify this game being called DMC5.. it's more DMC 4.5
V sucks. his gameplay is crap both in terms of function and fun. he has no depth, he is over powered and was a huge waste of development time. it's also insulting that we can't play as Vergil even though all his assets are there in the game.
worse still is the fact that you are forced to play as V every playthrough. in another terrible design decision, you can't freely select which character to play as in missions and there are a whopping... 20 missions.
that's right they actually split 20 levels among 3 characters. another terrible decision. put some effort in. either give us a free character select or give each character their own 20 mission campaign.
and many of these missions are not even levels.
Prologue - is a very short tutorial followed by a boss fight.
    missions 6, 17, 18, 19, 20 are all just boss fights.
    missions 4, 5, 9, 14 - are all forced V missions

leaving only 11 levels that are remotely worth playing. (dante really only has 4 levels of his own)...
and the level design in these levels is garbage. there is no platforming, no puzzles, it's just bloody palace mode with more walking and some tedious reused nidhog hatchlings (they're basically keys but have the most boring and uninspired execution both in visuals and how they work in levels). some levels are city areas that looks OK. most are the demon tree which looks terrible and bland.

remember the director Itsuno came out on stage and said the game would exceed everyone's expectations what the actual hell was he talking about? it doesn't even seem finished.
V sucks and actively makes the game worse, there's no content. no turbo mode, only 1 set of costumes to unlock, no boss rush, no multiplayer.
they advertised this game with coop multiplayer but you can only do that in ONE MISSION. one in the entire game, no multiplayer for bloody palace or other levels and no local multiplayer. talk about completely misusing a system your programmers had to work hard on.

Boss fights are pretty good.. some suck like Gilgamesh and King Cerberus, other are pretty nice. but they never even approach the best bosses from other DMC games like Vergil 3 and Credo. there's an inherent flaw in their design philosophy. where as previous DMC boss fights tended to be fast, up close and aggressive. the Pacing in DMC5 boss fights is all screwed up. they tend to be very focused on running/teleporting away from the you. Bosses like putting huge distances between themselves and the player and then spamming projectile attacks. the bigger bosses also feel much less satisfying to cut up thanks to the realistic look.

Lastly the Realistic Resident Evil engine look is hideous and lacks any semblance of style.. the very style we've come to expect from the series. the face scanned models look awful with the 1 exception of Nero who only looks weird sometimes. in general characters look like disgusting cosplayers. it also has a negative effect on visibility in gameplay.

    - I miss the old times when you can finish the entire game with one character.
    - Why do I have to load inside the menu screen? Remember how smooth is it to bring up the menu, swap style/weapon in DMC3 and DMC4. Even DMC is smoother.
    - Why there are so many enemies that can escape when you are punching the **** out of them?(Insert "git gud" automatically)
    - Who designed the score system? Had this person played M8, M10, M12 in DMD?
    - Why Lady is so passive in this game? She was on fire in DMC3!
    - Why Trish had trouble holding V? She is a badass demon(in DMC she jumped up cliff like nobody's business).
    - I still can't believe Vergil banged someone and left a child behind. There was simply no way they could come up with anything sensible. Think about it, Vergil didn't knew Nero was his son, which implies that he banged some girl without protection and ghosted her, never looked back.
    - I still can't believe Dante don't have a son. Why? I remembered that when Mundus said "I will be back", you throw back "say hello to my son will you?" Where is your son?(I don't even care about your wife, maybe you can do what Vergil did)
    - You fight Urizen in Prologue, M8, M10, M12...
    - King Cerberus is weaker than Cerberus in DMC3, seriously. He was never a threat under any difficulties. (The weapon is really really awesome)
    - Except for the Knuckle, Nero gains no new move sets in his matured DT form. For people who had played DMC4, this is laziness.
    - Kalina Ann left/right/duel, three guns, there you go...
    - The Devil Sword Sparda works exactly like Rebellion
    - One of Cavalier's moveset is behind the pay wall?
    - In DMC, you can unlock the Legendary Dark Knight costume by just playing the game. It replaces Dante entirely, including his initial weapon, his combat music. In DMC3 SE, Dante has SIX costumes, now...
    - In DMC3, Dante's DT form changes based on what weapon he is using. Why abandon this great, great idea? Also, hire the person who designed DT in DMC3 back. It looks very ominous and mystic. Now it looks like some generic costume on a Halloween night.
    - Remember the costumes for Ashley in RE4? Can we have some costumes that are not just recolored version? I bought the Delux version, and I confirm that there is no costume making Lady show more of her cleavage.
    - I miss the Gothic DMC
    - I love the original DMC, I love it so much that I couldn't understand what happened to Dante. In DMC, he was playful, but still mature and somber lot of the time. In DMC5, he is most clownish.

The story is quite incoherent due to jumping back and forth in time, and it's only in the last couple of levels that things come together. If anything, it feels like Vergil was shoved in at the last couple of levels to tie together the story.

The gameplay is where the game shines, as ususal, however other than V it is quite a lot of recycled material. Nero has improved and Dante's moveset is more dynamic, yet the basic weapons and attacks from previous make up 70% of combat. The extra devil trigger is nice but barely lasts ten seconds a lot of the time.

Overall, this game would be excellent as a standalone title, however the legacy of DMC has this paling in comparison. The microtransactions are also disgraceful and marred my experience also. Get this when it's £20 or less.

This game looks visually beautiful and both artistic and technical graphics are great.
the combat feels outdated and it lacks depth. But still it's exciting and is acceptable for a hack and slash game.
the story is not that emotional or engaging but it makes you keep playing and it never gets boring or pointless but comparing to previous year's gow, rdr2 and spider man it's like a joke.
The rock music as other reviews stated is amazing and it fits the game very well.

overall dmc 5 is a fun game but it's thousands of miles away from a masterpiece or goty contender just a good game to enjoy.

Devil May Cry 6!

I kinda feel weird about this game. On the one hand I really like the aesthetic of it and the vibe it is going for. On the other hand, it kinda felt like a "look, dont touch" type of world with a combat system that didnt really do anything for me. I get that it is a hack and slash game and that combat arena after combat arena is the main point, but I kinda expected more. I think it isI kinda feel weird about this game. I guess I will skip Bayonetta then and maybe try out Nier Automata as that has more of a story? Expand

There's something deeply unfulfilling about the mechanics of this game. It can be beat once on normal difficulty in about a day and a half. None of the characters felt particularly "fun," I hated playing as V, and Nero was my favorite, but even then, I didn't really like playing as him that much. Dante is the most varied but something about his mechanics felt unsatisfying after getting Nero's EX Gauge ability. I liked the timing aspect of trying to fill the EX Gauge, but they never teach you how to use it. You just have to experiment and I wasn't willing to put in the hours to learn how to do it right by chance alone. It was too frustrating. I'm quitting after about 10 hours, having beat the game once on normal (getting mostly A's or above throughout my first play through) and stopping after getting to the Goliath boss the second time. I just don't see the replay-ability that most DMC fans see. Honestly, I think the combat system could use a little more polish. V is too broken (button mashing with auto-battle gets you an instantaneous triple S score), Dante is outdated, having not changed much at all since DMC3, and Nero needs more polish. I'd also would've like the ability to cancel animations a little to make dodging easier. Expand

As a long time DMC fan, although it is not a sequel I want, it has some comforting content.

Truly, I did not enjoyed the game much.
Story is pretty stupid. Devil may cry 1,3,4 & DMC were much better in this.
Also, removing devil arm and replace it with “mechanic arm”? Bad idea if you ask me. In dmc4 it was best part.

To be honest, i played every DMC game so far (including both campaigns of terrible DMC2) and i am kind of disappointed with DMC 5. I had way more fun with Ninja Theory's reboot. Story is funnier in 5 but combat just feel... off. I completed DMC5 but i don't think i never come back to it again.

Le hicieron mucho ruido a este juego y está puntuado muy alto para lo que realmente aporta. La verdad esperaba encontrar un juego más entretenido pero no fue así.

Delivering an interesting story diving deeper into the grounded psyche of characters without forgoing its cartoonishly flamboyant elements, it also concocts one of the best combat systems ever through multiple playable characters each with their own mechanical quirks with varying degrees of cumulative technical complexity making up a rich, rewardingly deep, wildly expressive combat.Delivering an interesting story diving deeper into the grounded psyche of characters without forgoing its cartoonishly flamboyant elements, it also concocts one of the best combat systems ever through multiple playable characters each with their own mechanical quirks with varying degrees of cumulative technical complexity making up a rich, rewardingly deep, wildly expressive combat. However, level design is arguably the worst in the series with an excruciatingly monotonous, shallow exploration. Expand

Another success for Capcom. Devil May Cry has received a fresh injection of demon blood, and is as SSStylish as ever. A treat to look at, and a treat to play. [Issue#161, p.86]

When one rival put on weight, grew a bushy beard and decided to raise his son in the Northern bewilderness, the other chose a pair of stylish high-heels a couple sizes too small and the third now only appears to smash some oversized ta-tas, Devil May Cry 5 is proving that it is too early to put hack'n slash games out of commission. It's a gorgeous, glorious game of great current interest. A crown jewel from Capcom's most skilled goldsmiths.

Although the online functions could have been better, the unique and satisfying combat styles of Nero, Dante and V greatly contribute in evolving Devil May Cry 5 to the next level. While gaining a more photorealistic look thanks to Capcom’s RE engine, the stylish action we have come to love from the series is better than ever.
