    This game is definitely not for everyone, though I liked it a lot. If you don't enjoy particularly long cutscenes than don't play this game. It's a very confusing story and the gameplay isn't the best in the world, but I liked it a lot. The music is good and the scenery helps with that.     Is a very monotonous game, it has great music and world detail, but no more. The story is compelling but not enough to compensate for the immense boredom.

    Just make a movie already! I made it about 2 hours into this before I realized I've only actually been in control about 20mins. Between that and the disjointed, borderline homoerotic nature of the perception of the main character Sam, I realized this game just isn't for me. Journalists will condescendingly tell you "you just don't get it", but at the end of the day this game really is aJust make a movie already! I'd rather see the name of the character artists at the beginning and end of each scene because they're the real MVP's. They did such an awesome job at recreating what these actors actually look like that it's stunning, which is why I score it 4 out of 10. This game is also incredibly derivative of the Tom Cruise film Oblivion. From basic aesthetic, to some of the plot and character design. Kojima shouldn't be so proud of stealing. The rest is Kojima fluff wrap in a Prime delivery sim.… Expand

    Es un buen juego pero no una obra maestra que cambio la industria, aunque claro si cambio algo al ser un indie con presupuesto alto.
    Es un juego que no ha muchos les va a gustar y es entendible por lo monótono que se vuelve en ocasiones o el nulo acceso de armas durante parte del inicio del juego.
    La historia es lo que engancha al espectador para seguir adelante y continuar jugando.

    Kojimas masterful storytelling aside I understand the gameplay may not be for everyone but by the time the credits rolled I was thoroughly converted. The gameplay mechanics are strangely addictive and I have had hours of fun. The story is beautiful and bought me to tears and I recommend putting the time in.

    I didn't like this game at first because I thought it was just a delivery simulator with ghosts. But after coming back to it, I fell in love with the story and got addicted to the deliveries. In chapter 3 you get to use a vehicle and it makes a huge difference!!! Give this game a chance, this game will grow on you!!

    gameplay: No, it is not a walking simulator. The game largely focuses on crossing terrains, there are numerous ways and as the game progresses you gain new and useful technologies to customize your map making your life easier and helping other players. There are also several action sessions where you can use firearms and other weapons you use ... well, other things like projectiles. Enemies range from humanoid soldiers to giant creatures that look like they came out of a Japanese movie. There is a lot of variation in what you can do, from basic needs to leaving various fun interactions for other players while you find the ones they left for you.

    art: While the game has a more realistic footprint, it is interesting to note that several designs and scenarios are extremely more beautiful and more interesting than real landscapes. The characters also have an unusual design that is very well done.

    soundtrack: Imagine Bloodborne meets Cyberpunk, boss fights have this type of synthwave music in epic proportions, the songs from other points in history can vary well between drama and the wonder of discovering new mysteries and places. ALSO, we have Hideo Kojima's playlist that brings us unique experiences with real bands in reflective moments in the game that you will never forget.    … Expand

    The game is fun to play for about 10 hours. The graphics are majestic and capture the player's attention from the first minute of this post apocalyptic world. However that's it, after a while it becomes monotonous, you get used to graphics and lose interest immediately. The plot once again like Metal Gear has supernatural mumbo jumbo enemies, however it is not even close. Boring game,The game is fun to play for about 10 hours.     Love this game! It has a slow beginning, but once it picks up your hooked! You need to give it about 10 hours and then you can see why it's so addictive, only thing I dislike is how fast enemies respawn.

    Wow!! picked this up for the PC on release day. I've enjoyed every minute up through Act 2 (I think I'm nearing the end...:) ). I don't get the negative reviews...seems alot of folk need a ton of blood and death in their games. The story is fantastic and the interaction between your character and the BB is well done. The story is the real highlight as it kept me intrigued throughout and still resonates long after. Gunplay and melee combat can be frustrating. The inability to lock-on especially. The story is good but I feel has way too many elements in it and could have been a bit more simplified. The gameplay.....o the gameplay, this game is not fun to play, its loop of you delivering stuff gets old real quick. Plus the pacing and mission structure is not goodFirst of all!     The story is in true Kohima fashion - mysterious and extremely unique. As a completionist, I felt at times disconnected from the complex story.     I got the platinum for this game. If you had asked me my score up one completion it would have been a 10/10. However, after sitting on it for some time I have realized that this is not a game for everyone. You can not pick this up like you can an Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, Mario Kart, or Spider-Man and love it. It takes patience, appreciation for a story, and time (something that professional game critics do not have, in my opinion). I spent 200 hours in this game.

    Alright, I am absolutely in love with the world Kojima has created in this game but holy crap could he make it anymore boring? I found it an absolute chore to go through the story even though after finishing it I find myself looking up some of the scenes.     The gameplay is literally go from point A to point B and if you're unlucky some of the **** muck people will grab you and drag you 200 meters away from your cargo. A lot of people will tell you there are guns and grenades that surely would make the game fun but they don't. They still manage to make shooting boring. The only good thing about this game is the performances done by the amazing actors who deserved to be in a better game

    buy it if you like unhurried games in which you need to immerse yourself and think a lot about world around.
    intresting gameplay. strong story. nice songs. beautiful dying world.
    not good shooting mechanics and horrible motrocycle physics.

    The Good:
    Rewarding game systems for thinking ahead and knowing your surroundings

    Beautiful world and music, seriously these are some of the best looking environments and designs I have seen in the game.

    Every piece of equipment has its place and feels like a genuine upgrade every time you get something new. Who knew building infrastructure could be so fun?

    The struggle and dangers of the world are actually a threat (play on hard), makes completing runs feel all the more satisfying

    Actor performances across the board are great and when the story is focusing on any character beside Amelie its great stuff. One of the biggest character payoffs is just a simple hug, good job Kojima.

    The story is a mixed bag but I found it to be a ultimately positive experience that just overstays its welcome. It also works a lot better the second time around when you know what the characters are talking about and what happens so like I said, a mixed bag.

    Themes of the game, not one person is an island angle is perfect for this kind of experience. Game play reinforces the themes perfectly and Multiplayer is purely cooperative and adds to this as well.

    Its really refreshing to play an apocalyptic game where its ultimately a very human and hopeful experience, would have been the easy option just to go full nihilistic but their is nothing easy about this game.

    The Bad:
    The story, especially in the later parts almost fall apart due to pacing issues. There are too many monologues that ultimately don't matter and the game ends up over explaining itself, especially towards the end. The story focus on how and why things happened far too much when the heart of the game is how characters deal with the problems rather then how they happened in the first place.

    Almost everything to do with Amelie is not terrible but is the source of my issues with the games story.

    Holograms, you will see what I mean

    Getting through the first area game play wise is the worst part of the whole game, very unfortunately as the first level of any game are very important. After that the game improves drastically.

    Too many little animations may seem like a small inconvenience but in the long run it really starts to waste a lot of time, a skip option for the BT alert would be a great start.

    Second time around you really feel those first 10 hours drag due to the lack of equipment. Some sort of NG+ would have worked here where you start with way more then the first time around.

    Conclusion:
    This is a bold game, and a completely unique experience that alone should be applauded even if its not for you. I love this game but I am not blind to its short comings and its far from perfect . Story over explains itself to put it mildly but the characters and game play are the real story tellers here and how they inform the story and themes is the best part of the game.

    You are meant to fall, you are meant to feel frustration and despair but you cannot quit because humanity is worth it. The people you meet, the bridges you build the other players who help you along this long and dangerous road, that is the heart of Death Stranding.

    8/10 Kojima and his team have made something special here but the next time maybe rennin Kojima a little.    … Expand

    Extremely slow but intriguing start to a game. I’ve always loved new IPs and this game just does it really well. I’ll admit I’m only 20 hours in but I’ve loved every minute so far and from the first half of the game I’ve played. I really recommend this one. Very cool game.

    Ахуенна кадзима гений нахуй. Дали задание спиздить у МУЛов(злых чуваков) посылку. Я такой иду думал по стелсу спизжу. В итоге нахуй Ваня Пержаебальников бежит с посылкой от 12 мулов. Они меня ясен хуй догоняют и происходит оргия. Я просыпаюсь на помойке, в итоге нахуй иду опять пиздить эту посылку. Окей с горем пополам потратил я 30 минут спиздил ее и куча разных плюшек. В итоге нахуй Ваня Пержаебальников бежит с посылкой от 12 мулов. Они меня ясен хуй догоняют и происходит оргия. Я просыпаюсь на помойке, в итоге нахуй иду опять пиздить эту посылку. Окей с горем пополам потратил я 30 минут спиздил ее и куча разных плюшек. Несу такой до базы 150КГ на своих двоих, за спиной Эйфелева Башня. Иду такой все заебись и тут сажается сука мои супер роботизированные ноги. Я такой блять пздц и иду без них, пздц сложно качается башенка туда сюда, я себе чуть пальцы не сломал пока эту хуйню контролировал еще и гейпад лагает. В итоге иду такой блять уже весь потный, осталось 500 метров и у меняя блять ломаются ботинки. Я превращаюсь в улитку и двигаюсь со скоростью 2км в час, уже думаю похуй главное донести. Ребенок этот на груди кричит из за того, что я каждые две минуты об землю ебусь. В итоге дохожу уже до базы, уже метров 30 до пункта назначения И ЗНАЕТЕ ЧТО?     Es muy difícil describir este juego. La historia es una maravilla, los gráficos de lo mejor que se ha hecho hasta ahora y la banda sonora impresionante. Si te han dicho que trata sobre repartir paquetes en plan glovo, no les creas. Dale una oportunidad porque es una pasada.

    Bought the PS4 version first and loved it so much I got the PC port as well.
    Kojima Productions gained a new fan and that's a feat. To me, this game is definitely the best title for PS4 and is a must-have!

    One of the greatest joys of this game was learning. I went in blind, and learned to master the environs and the tools the hard way. It took a VERY long time to really 'get' everything, but once I did, I genuinely felt like the master of the battlefield, able to take any order and deliver it with style. And this was great because in most games today, you can learn the ropes in five minutes, so to have something genuinely challenging to play is AWESOME.
    So, if the game is so brill, why I gave it mere 9 and not 10?
    Well, its because of the game world. The world in Death Stranding is extremely barren, and there really is nothing whatsoever to see in it, except for half dozen tiny ruins. Now, some say its because timefall has eroded all away, but if this is so, how come there are certain ruins, unprotected from timefall, that still stand almost intact?
    No, I suspect that the game world was left barren because Kojima intended it to be rebuild full of life by players in the online game. But when the game got such bad reception, Kojima dropped the whole idea and left it as is. Well, whatever the reason, the barrenness of the game world really eats you away, and that's from someone who is used to playing JRPGs that have painfully barren maps...
    Other issue is that there is no real PS4Pro enhancement here. I first played thru the game on regular PS4 when it came out. And now I replayed thru it on PS4Pro. And was shocked to see no difference between the two 'versions'. No real visual enhancement, just bit better framerate, is all that Pro gives me. Disappointing. So, hence 9/10
    Still this game is genuine masterpiece, and one everyone should play thru. Even if it hurts. And if Kojima was ever to see this review, well, thank you for giving us the most unique, and one of the best, game of the generation. If all devs had such vision and ability, our gaming lives would be so much more fascinating and fulfilling.    … Expand

    First of all this was mine first Kojima game i completed, and i loved the story, this game is not a walking simulator like people claim there is more to it, like Resource management, so i am giving this title a 8.0 of 10.

    The story and lore is absolutely amazing, by playing the game you can tell that is done by people who care about it and believed in the project.
    Still not perfect of course, still got some technical issues, but is still a great start for Kojima Production.
    Would totally recommend.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought this game with the special addition ps4 pro and even though it took me quite a while to beat it , I throughly enjoyed it. Calling it a walking simulator is true at times but I honestly enjoyed putting in the effort to find the best ways to make deliveries and finding ways to make it easier for myself and others that were connected to the same server as I was. The story is spoon fed to you which I did find just a little annoying but after every cutscene it just made me want to continue to see how the story unfolded. I did get max with all facilities in the game just because that is the type of player that I am and I feel if I did not do that I would have completed the game much sooner but there is a sense of accomplishment from doing that and getting the trophy that says only 4% of players actually did it. The ending of the game did a nice job explaining most things about the story and the final cutscene of the main story with Sam and Lou walking away from the incinerator was one of the most touching things I have ever seen from a video game . Couple that with the amazing song choice for the ending cutscene and I could not help but shed some tears at the ending . You truly get attached to your BB. This game is not for everyone, if all you want is action and combat , look elsewhere.… Expand

But thanks to the immense boredom of self-quarantine, I invested enough time into the game to actually understand the story. But once I did, I absolutely loved the game!!! I'll be honest, the fun doesn't really start until you're at the middle of the game. And the game mechanics are more-or-less based on reality, so action sequences don't have the best gaming dynamics. However, if they really chose to go the "reality" way, I don't get how a person could possibly carry upwards of 100kgs of cargo on their back and manage to travel uphill.

    But boy, it gets to you towards the end... pretty deep stuff. I even shed a tear when the game got over. The final stretch of the game is when you really learn more stuff about the characters and how they became what they are.
    I just feel like the action sequences could use better combat mechanics, especially during boss fights where Sam (protagonist) gets knocked down and gets eaten before even getting a chance to get up and move.

    My advice to a first time player: yes, its mostly deliveries, but each delivery has new and interesting challenges. If you put enough time into the game, you won't be disappointed. Its certainly not a combat-first game, but it doesn't disappoint.    … Expand

    I have never seen a more innovative and ingenious game than this. the highlight is the absolutely complex but still incredible story. The gameplay is something new never seen before and when you start playing another game you notice that you lack the fantastic game mechanics and features that make this art innovative.

The music, the world, characters are all really good and the overall message it sends about connecting as people really hits home at these trying times we live in. It has a story to tell and it does it well. Its not and high octane action game and if you're going into it expecting a metal gear experience, your gonna be disappointed.

    Setting up zip-lines to skip bits of walking was a very satisfying experience, but they break the game.
    I'm amazed how much the game lets you skip through zip-lines.

    The story and characters were a bit of a letdown. The game has been shrouded in this air of intrigue and mystery, but it turns out that despite everything, Death Stranding is a pretty conventional game.
    Please don't go in expecting any great writing or characters or anything.

    I'd recommend the game if any of what I said sounds interesting to you. Keep in mind that the walking is quite repetitive, and if lots and lots of walking doesn't sound very fun, I don't think you should play it.    … Expand

    Kojima is probably the only man in the world that can make walking simulator a game of the year. Magnificent.

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it.     This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
