    Great graphics! Story can be a bit odd at times, and they explain everything in a Kingdom Hearts 3 fashion. This game also has clunky controls! it is a relaxing game to play there's just some problems with it. (also Kojima is kind of an egotist saying that if you like this game you have "good taste") 6/10 I wouldn't recommend this to anyone because they might get bored.

    I don't really know how to score this game. First of all, there's no other game like it anywhere, so A+ for originality and some of the more advanced delivery techniques. That whole system is pretty well-designed.

    Where do you even start? The story is a mixed bag. It's the standard Kojima story. It's super weird and not straight-forward. This game suffers from a similar problem as other games with a massive amount of side quests and optional tasks (Assassin's Creed, Ghost of Tsushima, for example). That problem being that you spend 90% of your game experience doing side quests and trying to discover everything so you very slowly progress through main story points. As a result, the overall flow of the story is just a mess and you end up forgetting what the last plot detail was since it was 5 or 6 hours of game time before you get to the next one. Can you just plow through and avoid all the side stuff until the post-game? Sure, but that's not how most people go through it I suspect.

    The controls are fairly good. A lot of effort went into trying to make the physics as realistic as possible. Except shoe wear. Seriously, you can 3D print an underground shelter in 30 seconds, but you can't make a pair of boots that lasts for more than 30 minutes of walking? Combat is obviously very limited and the camera can be a bit clunky, but it's no worse than anything else. You can just tell a lot of thought went into inventory management and strategy, so that's really executed well. BT encounters are particularly intense, but after half the game, I found it easier to just run through them and if I got caught, just run until I was outside the little battle area and the Timefall would be gone temporarily.

    What's not so great? It's just sort of - boring. Everything is pretty much the same. Yes, the environments change, but the preppers and locations all seem alike. It's always the exact same tasks (Deliver Items from Point A to Point B). Once you get through the game and start grinding for trophies, get ready for a boring and frustrating grind. You essentially have to rebuild all or most of the roads as well as expertly design region-wide networks of zip lines. The catch is that the bandwidth to build zip lines is limited (use online ones to help) and to get the premium deliveries, you have to play in hard mode - meaning your structures will deteriorate quickly. The roads will enable you to safely load massive weight deliveries onto a truck and drive them long distances to get the maximum rewards. Otherwise you'll do what seems like dozens and dozens of smaller deliveries to try to max out the connection with each location.

    Here's the problem, though: It's just not really fun. It's repetitive and boring. All that time and effort went into crafting this really amazing system, the physics, the strategy, the customization, but then the actual game play suffered. If that even makes sense. So yes, I wasted at least 100 hours on this game, but I certainly didn't particularly enjoy doing it. Final verdict: Not terrible, but not good either.

    I played the whole game and I can say that it didn't satisfy me fully, the story is very interesting, the gameplay is very nice but honestly I don't think it can be a game to replay, because there are too many repetitions, but that doesn't mean say it deserves a low rating.

    Gameplay is very bad.
    Is a very monotonous game, it has great music and world detail, but no more. The story is compelling but not enough to compensate for the immense boredom.

    A trap for perfectionists, but not really satisfying. A system of “likes” that are meaningless. And frankly, even with the nice story, it’s quite boring, as it is composed of fetch quests only. Wouldn’t play it again.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Настолько затянутый и однообразный геймплей не видел в своей жизни не в одной игре. Сюжет не плохой, но притянуто за уши сочувствие ко всем персонажам и их мотивация. Просто бред кричать что "Коджима гений!" и тд. и тп. Проходил на максимальном уровне сложности, на котором игра еще и в бесконечный гринд превращается.
    Визуал отличный, графика супер. Интерфейс слегка чудной, в плане загрузки грузов и тп. Еле-еле свыкся к концу игры.
    Можно конечно сказать что атмосферой и живостью персонажей игра не такая пресная, но доставлять грузы из точки А в точку Б по 30 (а то и больше минут) это конечно убивает весь геймплей, чем бы и как бы это не было обосновано.
    Меньше вопросов было к Last Of Us 2, которую как по мне все несправедливо захейтили.
    Все фишки PS5 присутствуют.

After hours and hours of walking, doing fetch quests and dealing with all sorts of frustrations on the way (corrosive rain, ghosts, enemies, terrain, letting stuff drop in the water, the constant screeching of the baby etc), I just could not take it anymore. I was tired, the game felt like a job, a chore and not in a good way. I was not enjoying it one bit. It just became a boring, frustrating, exhausting experience.

    Also, I do believe the game is overrated. Is it different? Yes, no question about it. Is it a 'genre defining' game, something that will forever change the industry? Absolutely not. It's another niche game; some people will love it, some people will hate it - and probably for the right reasons.

    I was curious, I gave it a try and realized it was not for me.

    . Why does it need to repeat the same cutscenes and messages again and again? It should skip it automatically.
    . TOO MANY TUTORIALS! TOO MANY THINGS ON SCREEN! TOO MANY USELESS NEW ITEMS! JUST LET ME *UCKING WALK!
    . Unrewarding long and unnecessary sidequests.
    . Bosses are a joke.
    . From the UI to the information displayed throughout the game, everything just feels... Messy.

    Kojima, I still think you're a genius, but you missed the mark with this one, buddy.

    I don't like the story, i don't like the game play. That game is boring. But i finished this game because the landscape, the music and the graphics was pretty good.

    This game really is sub par. If you're in your 30s and the time to play games is hard to come by now, I'd recommend to skip this. The story takes way, way to long to start and is mind numbingly uninteresting. Don't expect any fireworks. It does have its moments though but they're far fewer than what you'd expect. How Kojima got these actors interested in this game will always be a mystery to me.

Весь геймплей: Бери груз иди с точки А до точки Б, местами игра еще заставит с точки Б идти до точки С, при всем этом тебе надо МИНОВАТЬ врагов, тварей и бороться с рельефом местности. Cуть

    На шестом эпизоде механика игры ходьбы от А до Б мне стала настолько скучной и надоедливой что я вынул диск с PS4 и поставил объявление о продаже на местном авито.
    Если вы счастливый обладатель PS4 и ПК, то я советую ждать эту игру на ПК, ибо вы хотябы в случае пиратсва не потеряете свои 65$ а в случае если игра наскучит сможете тупо скачать трйнера и тупо пройти игру за день. Ибо на консоли проходить эту игру дроч*во.
    Жалко метакритик не позволяет тут написать полную статью на эту «игру», я бы с радостью. В общем люди не ведитесь на мнение каких то айтипедиков и так далее, думайте своей головой, а я пошел смотреть 10 часовое видео с прохождением этой игры.

    Кодзима придумал интерсную задумку для игры, но всю эту задумку убивает скукота и однообразие геймплея.

    After investing hours into this game I can honestly say, "what is the point of this game?" I'm the only one left in the desolate country to carry packages. For a game that is about connection I felt completely isolated. Even when playing on the server it only polluted the world with nonsense. I'm not sure how this is relaxing to play, it stressed me out to the point I diagnosed this game as insanity to continue playing. This game is far from revolutionary, and the best parts takes place in the opening cutscenes. If this game didn't have Kojima name on it, it would have recieved poor reviews across the world. The game looked like a fantastic concept to be both wierd and awesome moments, but instead Kojima has ruined it with the whole game being a fetch quest. The beginning had a cool opening, but the overall experience was horrible, insanely boring and nothing exiting moments.     La historia es buena. Muy buena para ser sincero. Pero un juego es para ser bueno debe tener buena jugabilidad y ser entretenido de jugar, y este juego falla enormemente en esto. 8 horas de juego muy frustrantes.

I loved all his Metal Gears, his cinematics, his way of introducing sci-fi things, always finding the right balance making everything so belieble (which is very difficult to achieve), but this game is so so boring and repetitive. I don't know for how long I've been playing this game (15? 20 hours?) and I'm still in the middle of chapter 3 (and there areI'm so so disappointed with Kojima. I loved all his Metal Gears, his cinematics, his way of introducing sci-fi things, always finding the right balance making everything so belieble (which is very difficult to achieve), but this game is so so boring and repetitive. I don't know for how long I've been playing this game (15? 20 hours?) and I'm still in the middle of chapter 3 (and there are 14!). Graphics and music are good. The plot seems weird, but the story goes too slow to get to know it better. My main complaints are: as I said, too repetitive and boring, tiny letters (it's hard to read even with a big tv. I like to play the games in English but because of the tiny letters I decided to put the game in Spanish but at least the voices were decent); also I almost got mad trying to build the first bridge and making the first motorbike work, I ended up looking for help in internet. Because I got this game borrowed I don't think I'm going to play it any more because I have other games more interesting. I wouldn't recommend buying this game. It's better to skip it or get it borrowed from a friend but don't buy it unless you are really really really pacient. Expand

    Kojima, please make real movies and stop trying to create videogame genres. This is Paperboy NES+Horror elements evolved, not a new genre at all. The model for Amelie is a technical marvel, based entirely off of a photo of Lindsay Wagner 40+ years ago, and

    The model for Amelie is a technical marvel, based entirely off of a photo of Lindsay Wagner 40+ years ago, and that's about the only positive I have for this game.

    Lastly, you can slam monster energy drinks like no tomorrow with no health repercussions, and shake babies with no penalty (ie: the motion control sensor is too sensitive and can shake the baby rather than cradle it), these two things I disagree with fundamentally.

    Kojima had the "Konami is messing with the game" excuse for MGS V being a sub par and unfinished game but now that he had complete creative control, it shows how much Konami actually "destroyed" mgs v.

    The truth is that judging by his last 2 games ( since I haven't played the rest) Kojima seems to not be up to the standard on most creative areas (aside from cinematography which is great). The writing is laughably exposition heavy, the "sad-moments" are completely unearned, the dialogue is facepalm-worthy at times, the pacing is a mess and the gameplay ,while unique, feels not well realized as evident by the terrible bossfights that simply can't be satisfying with the type of gameplay that Kojima and his team chose to go with.
    For god's shake you can't even pick up bullets that enemies drop, that is a cardinal gaming sin. I hope the next game by Kojima Production is better.

    Thankfully though this game is carried by its ending.

    Well, I am one of the lucky few who trully enjoyed this game and would score it a perfect 10 out of 10. But liking a game and reviewing it are two different things. I can clearly see why this game is not everyone's cup of tea. Yeah, story is good. Yeah, it has inovative ideas. It has a good message beneath it all but at the end of the day even I have to admit this game is BORING as hell. Come on, you have to deliver some cargo from A to B, how is that engaging? I wanna shoot some losers, I wanna make things go boom and I wanna create chaos. It's quite easy to see the argument of those who say this is a bad game.

    The gameplay is quite simple. Deliver from A to B. However, as time progresses the game will try to keep you more engaged by progressively inscreasing the difficulty and adding a few more elements to keep things more balanced in terms of learning curve and difficulty. But when everything is said and delivered, you still have the same boring gameplay of walking for hours. And that is for sure boring as fu*k. For 50% of the gamers thats is.

    However its hard to provide an argument in favor of this game. I found no chaos, I found no losers to shoot or bangs to explode. All I can say is that the game knows quite well that it is boring and grindy as hell and doesn't try to hide that. Even the main antagonist says it at some point: "Aren't you tired of all the grind?" So, why?

    Its quite simple, balance. The gameplay is so simple that is easy to design an algorithm around it that will play with you along your delivery. The game knows where you are where you need to go. You will face terrorists that wanna steal your cargo. BTs and rain that will damage your cargo. Tricky terrain that is hard to traverse and all it takes is one dumb mistake and BANG, game over. The game is designed to punish you for not planning ahead. You take your delivery, it is time sensitive. You see a Terrorist camp in the distance, you plan your path to avoid losing time. Only to later find out that there was a river or a huge chasm in your path. But wait, you forgot to take the ladder. You still have options: You can either face the enemy or go back. You decide to go back, game knows it, suddenly it starts to rain, BB gets stressed. Now BTs show up. Decisions: you can face them, or maybe go through the terrorists. Tick tock, clock is ticking. You decide to sneak past the terrorists. The delivery time makes you impatient. You get too close to the terrorists and they ping you. Now they are chasing you. Maybe you are running low on stamina or maybe you didn't bring items to face them. So you run for your goal. They keep chasing you. On your way you stumble on a rock, you lose your balance, you fall down, cargo is damaged. You get up, you keep running. You finally manage to evade them. You take some time to catch your breath. It stops raining. The wather clears up. You see your goal in the distance. A song starts playing on the background. You casually take stroll and finish your order. You get ranked for being dumb, not taking a ladder and in the process damaging your cargo. You connect that "Node" to the network. Now you can see other players structures on your way back and the chasm that started it all no longer poses a threat because someone was not dumb like you and actually brought a ladder. You decide to build a bridge over it in order to help the community and yourself. You carry on with minimum threat risks. One day later you have 1000 likes and you feel appreciated. This is how I can describe one of my MANY adventures that I had delivering some cargo in this walking simulator. Yeah, when all said and done, it can be boring as hell, but every single delivery feels like an adventure. You feel rewarded for playing it smart and planning ahead and you feel punished for doing exactly the opposite. In the end, this is not everyone's cup of tea but you won't know if it is your cup of tea until you taste it.

    Note: I allowed my roomate to play this game. I saw him stumbling on every fu**ing rock on a flat surface. I saw him attempting to climb rocks without the proper gear only to fall down on his back. I saw him sprint through a river only to be swept away by the water. I saw him running past a BT infested area with no regard for the threat that they could pose to his cargo. In the end, he said the game was trash, played it for like an hour and refused to play more. I imagine that the 50% who don't like the game felt the same way he did.

E oque quero dizer com isso? bom,eu vi uma live de 5 horas (inclusive cheguei na metade da live) e nessas 5 horas posso te dizer, foram no mínimo 3,5 horas simplesmente andando...pegando maletas,escondendo de coisas,mexendo em inventário,arrumando inventário...achei a maioria dos cenários depressivos,vazios,chatos,entediantes,planos...faz sentido para a Lore,porém é muito depressivo.
    Valor no Brasil:250 reais,valor em dólar: 60 dólares.
    Eu não consigo enxergar outro gênero nesse jogo,Kojima queria criar um gênero do 0,porém é oque eu disse,um Walking SImulator requintado. Não recomendo,esperem abaixar para 120,100 reais ou 30 dólares.

Death Stranding is a miserable game, and it's miserable specifically because all the parts Kojima was personally in charge of - design, gameplay and story - are all horrid. Audio and visuals are excellent all around, but the game itself is just Euro Trucker with gibberish for story.     Me esperaba mas del maestro Kojima, el juego en si es increíblemente aburrido. Apenas llevo 15 horas de juego y el 50% es de cinemáticas algunas muy entretenidas y otras de relleno, pero el objetivo central de juego es tedioso a niveles del sopor. Es mi crítica inicinicial, espero con el paso de las horas mejore.

    Then after 2 straight nights of play, I already felt the "Wow factor" fading.
    Once you realise that you're not THAT easy to trip over, you begin caring less, and it loses its luster.

    Same goes for the BTs, once you get the hang of how your tracker works, you can blast through any zones without caring too much.

    All in all, the walking/stumbling delivery system could've been a great system as a PART of a game but not enough to make it a whole game by itself.

    After 5-6 hours you pretty much just end up dashing all over the place in a bored manner and you realise that is all that it's going to be

    Si tienes poco tiempo en tu día para jugar (menos de 2 horas) no lo recomiendo.

    When your character showers, you’ll be reminded of AMC’s Ride with Norman Reedus. When your character is thirsty and in need of energy, you’ll be reminded that Monster Energy Drink gives you what plants crave.
    The asynchronous multiplayer (again, not new to video gaming) only helps muddy the waters. Turn a corner and the world can be littered with peoples junk, making you feel like the janitor at the end of a block party.

    So why the 5? There’s good times to be had playing this. Gradually getting more and more perks provides a nice slow progression curve, feels nice when you get a motorcycle or a little robo-mule. Besides that, trekking is enjoyable to me IRL and some of that comes across while playing.

    We’re all out here to experience some escapism, it’s okay to not like something. It is also okay to like it. Be safe everyone, keep connecting.

    Death Strandings best aspects are its visuals and how unique it is. It gets into a nice and enjoyable groove once you hit the second area of the game. But falls down again once you make your way to the snowy mountain. The story is a convoluted mess with cringeworthy dialougue at times.

You get the same mission 5000 times while you wait for the next interesting story bit. Coming from a fan of mgs I'm not annoyed this feels so different. Whats even more impressive is the fact that most games made for the ps4 are made with the ps4 pro in mind which, in turn, when played on an OG ps4 the games suffer in performance. Death Stranding is beautiful and runs smooth played on either console.

    Select performances - Some characters in this game fall flat for one reason or another. Cliff, Amelie, Heartman, and late bloomer Die Hardman are absolutely astonishing. Every time these characters appear on screen you care about what they are saying whether you understand whats going on or not.

    Cons:

    Bosses - There are 2 types of bosses in this game. Scripted fights or BT Monster fights that occur if you fail escaping BTs. If you are a fan of MGS and the unique boss fights in those games, they are absent here. All of the bosses are easy, even ones considered hard are so just do to them being a battle of endurance where the boss just has a large amount of health. Taking into account that you don't "die" in this game and these bosses retain the damage you dealt, there is no intensity to these fights.

    Select Performances - Not going to harp on this too much but outside of the previously mentioned characters, everyone else is forgettable. Fragile is one character that is pushed hard from the start and then ultimately becomes just a device for fast traveling between main cities. It also just feels like her whole purpose in the game was to fill that role. This is backed up by the fact that after her dedicated chapter she pretty much disappears until she is required in the final moments of the game. Higgs is also a weird character considering he is treated as the main big bad but after you overcome him you realize his inclusion in the story makes no sense. He mainly just fits a role as setting up the big "Twist" of there was a bigger evil this whole time cliche. Also he leads a "terrorist" group but the only time you see anyone a part of his group is in a cut-scene with fragile to explain some her back story. Even when you reach the area that these terrorists are supposed to reside they are nowhere to be found. Every other character is just.... there. They serve as an Kojima exposition machine.

    Story: The story is what you would expect from a Kojima game. Lots of "double agent" elements and more questions with answers. I'm not really going to spoil any major story elements. The issue for me is the fact that i guessed factors about the end within ten minutes. Kojima loves his cliche's and twists so if you are used to that formula then you aren't going to get any crazy events. Kojima isn't a writer, hes a director. In these scenes the cinematography is top notch, just the story and dialogue for these scenes don't match. The ending doesn't really answer much or even really matter. Honestly the ending felt poorly thought out. The ending you get feels like something that should of been dealt with earlier instead of the end cap to this confusing experience. With the gameplay being padded out to extend the run time, this makes the ending feel cheap compared to the effort you put in to complete the game.

    Game-play - All criticisms are true. The game is a package delivery walking sim. Honestly this could be overlooked. I would like to extend an olive branch between the people who love and those who hate the game-play. This game-play could be interesting and meaningful but the faults of it are that there are just too many ideas they tried to push with the game-play to the point where everything they did comes off as mediocre or half-brained mechanics. For example, you get a bike and the ability to fabricate bikes at the end of chapter 2. Chapter 3 is set in an area that isnt suitable for any vehicles to be practically used, BUT there are structures throughout the area called Auto Paver's that turn the unfavorable terrain into roads with a LARGE amount of materials you have to provide it. By the time you finish with these roads the area is done and you start the next chapter which introduces the one of the only two worthwhile buildables, "Zip-Lines" which remove the need for vehicles. If Kojima productions would've focused on a more concise game-play design I truly feel that this idea would've worked. This is a perfect example of over indulgent game design.

    Pacing - Simply put, this game is too long. If they would've trimmed the gameplay experience down to a more concise loop focused on a few core ideas this game would've worked. Sadly the amount of time doing fetch quests grinds the story to a halt throughout the majority of the game. This could've been a ten hour game and been better for all.

    I give it to the game, at its core it has very good and clear ideas, but man, why so boring?! Why I have to watch cutscenes only at the beginning and a ton at the end, and between 40 hours of **** WALKING.

    I feared this since the release date trailer, I had a feeling the game was going to be overly cinematic while lacking gameplay. This is all Kojima fault.... he thinks way too highly of himself and wants to do these over cinematic pretentious games. He needs a reality check. MGS5 was not good and the only MGS game I did not bother to finish. BUT we put the put the blame on Konami cuz there was evidence of bad doing on their part, but people over looked the problem Konami had with Kojima: he was too ambitious, he wanted an bigger and bigger budget, and he was taking too long to develop the game.

    Everyone was supporting and giving Kojim,a all the benefit of the doubt with Death Stranding. Everyone was hype and willing to wait as long as it took, and he failed to deliver. Instead he delivered the cinematic Hollywood movie he always wanted to make. This was an ego project for Kojima. He did not think about the gamers at all when making this game.

    Big fan of his early work, Policenauts, Snatcher etc. but Hideo's new entry can't really interrest me. It's too slow, too repetitive and there's too many damn cutscenes. Visually the game looks stunning, and it's an interesting concept, but it doesn't work well.

    Genious and primitive in same time. For instance boss fight. Excellent cut-scene and then just throwing granades. No day/night changing, no dynamic weather, no NPC, no physical objects, no interiers. Just great film passages + classic OW go and bring boring activity in empty world. it´s NOT new genre! It´s weak game with great actors and world lore.

    O modo online do jogo onde podemos fazer entregas, utilizar e deixar itens para outros jogadores e fato de construir um mundo colaborativo é bem interessante, mas não segura o entusiasmo do jogador.

    Após pouco mais de 2 horas jogando percebi que o jogo não era pra mim, e posso dizer sem sombra de dúvida, para mais 90% dos jogadores. Faltam inimigos, falta dinâmica e por fim vai faltar o entusiasmo do jogador, não consigo achar outra explicação para o Game ser indicado para o Jogo do Ano, a não ser como eu havia falado de ter sido um jogo feito para os críticos tendo inclusive o próprio Kojima incluído alguns deles no próprio jogo.

    Meu nome é Guilherme e sempre joguei games, tenho 36 anos e posso dizer que o que críticos disseram sobre o Death Stranding não ser um jogo para todos e que o jogador tem que ter mente aberta para o jogo, na verdade só não quiseram dizer com todas as letras que o jogo é muito chato.

    I have just finished playing through Death Stranding. Mostly on hard, but the last few episodes on very easy. Not because the game was hard, but because I wanted to be over with it faster.

    But let's go into the positives. The game has an amazing story, which I lived. I also enjoyed playing the game until the last 15 missions.

    The last 15 missions however became tedious. Not hard, just tedious. All I thought towards the end was: Hopefully it'll be over soon, but it won't. It will be so overloaded with cinematics, and you will spend most of your time watching a cinematic. I spent more time watching cinematics, than playing the game.

    It would have been better to have this as a show with several episodes instead of making you walk, sometimes aimlessly, towards the next episode of cinematics.

    So in conclusion: Story great. Game towards the end is less of a game and more long episodes.

    Edit: I had to retroactively change my review, as I have kept playing to go for the platinum, which I've nearly done. My biggest problem with Death Stranding is the insane amount of cutscenes / cinematics at the end. It is too much and feels punishing. The core gameplay for the big part of the game, which is needed for the platinum, I actually enjoyed. So not as horrible as I initally reviewed, still not recommended though

Now, I'm not saying I trust IGN one bit, but the fact that they were brutally honest about how the game plays was shocking. Once I had a chance to actually see what Jim Sterling had to say it was all over, this whole project was to make a 70+ hour movie and Kojima trolled us all on it. II went from hyped about Kojima's new game to complete abandonment after what IGN had to report on it. Now, I'm not saying I trust IGN one bit, but the fact that they were brutally honest about how the game plays was shocking. Once I had a chance to actually see what Jim Sterling had to say it was all over, this whole project was to make a 70+ hour movie and Kojima trolled us all on it. I had a collector's edition waiting for me at GameStop that I kindly waved goodbye to, getting a refund. I'm sure there is an audience for this game, I'm just not part of that audience.     The world is beautiful but mostly devoid of worthwhile content. I found that the few areas I did find interesting were covered in BTs, the ghost-like enemies you have to sneak around. Not very challenging, more of a giant obstacle that goes from being cool to really annoying filler. There's also mules, which are just people "Addicted" to stealing cargo to deliver? I can't really say their background is compelling to me, and they're just as big of a pain too, impeding your progress with stealth that isn't MGS level, and combat that is just downright frustrating and outdated even by PS2 standards for mechanics.

    Aside from those, it's literally just a walking simulator from point A to point B. First 10 hours are alright, but after a while the monotony of doing the same task over and over through more annoying environments just starts to grate on you, you just want to deliver packages just to progress the story that's pretty barren past the opening cutscenes.

    This game wasn't what I was hoping, the story is mostly there, but the gameplay doesn't live up to that hype, or anything really... It's just bad without something more on the table, and downright frustrating. Wish Sony/Kojima would have been more straight forward with what kind of game this was, because the buildup and trailers mostly hide how boring this game truly is to play.

    5/10, the story being where the 5 came from, -5 for that awful gameplay.

The opening chapters are all about delivering objects on foot, and with minimal obstacles the game is at least an enjoyable walk. When you are running around the barren landscapes theres something cathartic and relaxing to be enjoyed here. In addition the soundtrack kicks in during quiet moments which adds to the experience with some of the best music Ive heard recently in a game.

    As the game progresses, new obstacles are added to the game, BT enemies (stealth vs stealth encounters) will slow you down and try to damage your cargo. Mules will try to steal your cargo and terrorists will try to kill you. Rain will come down in droves (aka "timefall") which will damage your gear and cargo. Snow will cause you to move slowly, and damage cargo as well. These obstacles are all introduced to the game to add variety, peril and challenge. But all they do is spoil this games only true gameplay strength; a good walk.

    Whenever these obstacles show up, you are rarely in the mood for their nonsense. They are either irritating to the point of discouraging the player to even bother, or they waste your time in the most insulting way outside of a mobile phone EA game. The quests require a lot of backtracking, tedious marches or annoying drives (hitting tiny boulders causes the vehicle to grind to a halt, and they are very difficult to control). Absolutely no part of this amounts to fun. Stealth and combat is serviceable, though , but nothing special. The game would be better without them. Dealing with these obstacles can be easier with the right gear, to the point of it being a simple lock and key mechanic. If, however, you dare to not carry each of the right keys then your in for a bad time. In a game where carry weight is a significant factor, carrying all the right gear is tedious and actively discouraged. As well as unintentional backtracking (through mission failures etc) there is a significant amount of intended backtracking. In a game thats already far too long, this padding is entirely unecessary.

    Multiplayer aspects are strong, where players can use structures built by others to skip parts of the game. The fact that this is a celebrated feature shows how weak the gameplay is.

    The main hook of the game is its narrative. The story is very unique here, and keeps the player wanting to find out more about the world.
    The dialogue, acting and writing is generally very good. If it wasn't, then this reviewer would not have put up with the rest of the game, and it would remain uncompleted. The story can come across as pretentious at times but that is my main gripe.

    To conclude, music, graphics, story and multiplayer are all excellent. Gameplay is king however, and in this aspect Death Stranding falls down dramatically. It wastes your time and overall the payoff isnt worth the effort. I cannot reccomend this game, however i can reccomend watching the cutscenes or a stort synopsis. If you do insist on playing it, put it on easy and run past all the obstacles.

    El apartado del sonido del viento, hojas y efectos de agua, lluvia, pasos, entre otros le da vida a un mundo complejo y misterioso. Todo lo técnico en este juego es superior y acompaña a una historia muy profunda y reflexiva que es sin duda la parte central del juego.

    Sin embargo, el gameplay aunque complementa bien con la temática del juego, no es lo suficientemente variada, y muchas veces nos vemos obligados a realizar misiones repetitivas y monótonas con tal de revelar el misterio que ha caído en está América apocalíptica, para empeorarlo, el juego está lleno de mecánicas que podrían encontrar en juegos FPS, RPG, simulación, conducción, estrategia e incluso de survival terror, pero se sienten incompletas y no son aprovechadas al 100%. La historia brillante debería ser el complemento del gameplay bien pulido en un videojuego, no al revés, y esto es lo que convierte a Death Stranding en una pélicula interactiva.

    El género "Strand" que Hideo quiere implementar sin duda es algo interesante, muchas veces hemos visto al online o multiplayer en el principal enemigo de campañas en solitario o un jugador, él quiere incluir esto en su historia y también beneficia mucho a la historia. A diferencia del cooperativo, un segundo jugador no interviene directamente, como en una red social, comentando, guiando o dejando su marca en partes del mapa para varios jugadores que pueden apoyar (dar like) a sus acciones. No obstante, un juego no puedo construirse al rededor de esta idea y mas bien queda como una mecánica extra durante el viaje.
    Este juego a dividido a toda la comunidad de videojuegos y es algo positivo que la industria se atreva a realizar juegos diferentes, que innoven mecánicas y sobre todo incluyan contenido completo y de calidad como Kojima Productions ha hecho. Este juego muestra que no se debe comprar un juego por el "HYPE", debemos saber lo que compramos y no guiarnos solamente por la prensa que muchas veces es cómplice en alabar un título.

    Este juego no es para todos, lo narrativo y lo visual es la obra maestra, si buscas aventura y variedad pues no lo aconsejo. Mi nota es dividida, pero considero al juego un gran mensaje positivo para la industria actual de videojuegos.

    Who thought crying baby sounds are what a game needs? And the electric bike sounds will make you mute the game.
    Why make such a great environment when I just follow a line on the ground.

    TL;DR
    There were some really talented people working on this game but it all got degraded by hideous game-play and a general lack of overall direction. For a game so story heavy the story is heavily lacking.

Un mundo precioso, aunque desierto y totalmente desaprovechado.

    Por desgracia, su original premisa termina siendo su principal "carga".

    The controls are alright, but not revolutionary. It feels similar to Metal Gear Solid V. The story itself is also quite bland and convoluted. The dialogue is quite abysmal in some sections, but I'll keep it spoiler free. I'd rather not play a game where the mechanics are half of the selling point. Music was actually pretty good it was one of redeeming qualities of this game for me. Graphics look really well especially on great TV. Overall it was not a revolution in terms of gameplay or anything else in particular as Hideo-san was promising with "stick and rope" interviews he gave, many times before the release. I hope that this game sales well and find it's fans, so that Hideo-san could keep on making more games. But as of know this is not the masterpiece or genre defying game, it's a definition of word "mediocre" that's all. Expand

    UPDATE: I've seen far too many make excuses for Kojima's Death Stranding. This is not a good video game. It scores high in every area you would expect for a video game except for game play loop which is critical to a video games success. Death Stranding would have been better as a multi-chapter highly interactive exclusive play-station movie then a video game. There’s a reason its highly rated by the official critics but not with the audience and that’s because critics are either Kojima worshipers and will declare as a masterpiece anything the guy puts out or they are so burnt out on gaming that anything that’s not like a typical video game that is also not buggy is good in their eyes. Had any other studio made this game it would not have scored near as high.

    A video game NEEDS a good game play loop and that’s something that Death Stranding is seriously lacking and that’s why its an excessively long and painful slog thru a beautiful world with damn near perfect characters and story.

    The game starts of quite confusingly but as you go you will find out a lot about the world and characters which I love, it's a slow build and definitely not for everyone but by the end if you can bare with it's gameplay for 40 hours you will feel

    The game starts of quite confusingly but as you go you will find out a lot about the world and characters which I love, it's a slow build and definitely not for everyone but by the end if you can bare with it's gameplay for 40 hours you will feel satisfied (well I did anyway). The graphics as well, I felt mesmerized, I felt like I was watching a movie during the cinematics, these are definitely the best graphics to this day , it should also be experienced in 4K. The acting as well from all the actors are phenomenal especially from Tommie Earl Jenkins towards the end of the game I definitely felt emotions running through me when it got to these sort of moments.

    Now to the negatives and these ones hurt the game and the biggest one is the gameplay aspect of the game. It gets boring very quick, for the first few hours I actually didn't mind doing it and the music felt quite relaxing but I found myself playing this game for a few hours a day then stopping because I was getting bored pretty quick, I would of rather this game be a movie game like until dawn then having these boring gameplay aspects of delivering packages from one side of America to the other side and return. The other negative is that the boss fights of the game are quite bad, some of the bosses don't even attack you, sure the Higgs and Cliff fights are amazing but the BT bosses are quite bad and boring .

    The most divisive game of 2019 is a good game in my opinion just because I was so invested in the story and characters but the gameplay brings this game down quite a bit and found myself wanting this to be a TV show, Movie or movie game. I wished Kojima worked on a horror game or something like PT because the horror elements here are really good and suspenseful. Do i recommend it though? No but if you have the patience then give it a try!

    Death Stranding is creating a new game genre and therefore paves its own path towards more interactive experiences. It is a brave work thanks to its novelty, which fortunately is not a bragging right for its creators, as it may have seemed, but an exceptional title that will reward the brave who play it. [Issue#299]

    This game does manage to be fun, even if it is one of the heaviest experiences of 2019. Everything from story to gameplay is begging to be dissected, filled with imagery and symbolism -- just like so many Kojima games before this one. Entering Death Stranding, it’s likely that we all thought Kojima’s calling card was lengthy cutscenes and stealth and action gameplay.

    Death Stranding stands as a powerful author’s game which drives a strong message of how our over-connected society is evolving, and how we can help other players. Unlike many AAA games, it shines on a truly spiritual level. Well written, engaging and visually magnificent, it offers, despite some pacing flaws, an astonishing solo game with elegant multiplayer elements. A unique representation of Hideo Kojima’s talent.
