    This game knows what it wants to do, and it executes it flawlessly. The loss of characters and some of the more enjoyable mini-games is certainly a bummer, but let’s be honest, that is never why anyone played this game.

    If you're coming here for the gameplay, forget Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 as nothing has evolved on that topic for the last decade. If you want to peep at sexy girls, you're in the right place as everything was made with this goal in mind. A game to store on the ecchi shelf.

    Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 does nothing to hide its fanservice nature; besides that the product is still fun to play and able to exercise a certain fascination. But little or nothing has changed since the old episodes, with a clearly reduced budget that has even led to cuts.

    Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is the worst entry in a series that was never good anyway. The production values are abysmal and the new features are shallow and insufficient. The game is simply not worth it even if you are a Dead or Alive fan.

    The game design is as flat as the pretty ladies are curvy. A totally irrelevant collection of minigames with a hint of Tamaogotchi. But not even the boob bonus can save this beach vacation.

    In its current state, Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3 is a nice game to relax and unwind with, but beyond that it’s a very disappointing and lazy entry into the Xtreme series.

    Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 brings you fewer features, girls, minigames and an altogether lesser experience. What it does have, however, are exceptional visuals and design on the nine girls. Let's face it though, that's what you go for when you buy a Dead or Alive Xtreme game, or any Dead or Alive game now. Does that make Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Fortune worth it? No.

    The whole package feels extremely light on content, and even a bit rushed. With reused assets, features missing that were in previous titles, added microtransactions, a lack of characters, and lots of grinding, it is hard to recommend this to even the most titty-starved gamer. You'd be better served watching videos of the spicier scenes online or just going to any number of free porn sites, thus saving yourself the time, money, and brain cells that would otherwise be spent on this.

This is an excellent entry into the franchise, and it largely exists because Tecmo Koei listened to fan feedback from DOAX2's stumbles. If you've played an Xtreme title, then you already know what to expect. What I find most disturbing about DOAX3's release is not the gratuitous sexualized content that became the focus of its western press, but the biased and vendetta-driven journalism surrounding it here in the west. Thus far, the "professional" reviews have been highly subjective, presented offensive speech that has little to do with the game in question, and even contained blatant inaccuracies concerning the game's content. Having spent nearly 40 hours with DOAX3, I can honestly say it is the most refined and enjoyable game in the series, and the core volleyball mechanics return to the simple yet nuanced controls that made DOAX1 a hit. Believe it or not, these things are important to Xtreme fans, and while the gorgeous graphics and body physics may add to the allure, they would not be enough without solid gameplay to keep us grinding. Keep in mind that this is an Asian release with English subtitles and has not officially been released in the west. Professional review sites don't typically bother with imports, so beware of those that may make an exception for DOAX3, especially since many seemed poised to "take a stand" against the game before it was even released. For the amount of content you get, it IS fairly overpriced. But, if you just appreciate it for what it is, then it is a very enjoyable game. Of course, most people will buy this for the eye candy, but the game has its various other charms and can sometimes get addicting as you try to collect all the swimsuits (though it will also get tedious as you go for the Platinum). All in all, it's not the best Xtreme title, but it's still a good purchase for DOA/Xtreme fanatics.… Full Review »

    The fact that Metacritic allows these reviews for a game that didnt come out in the US is against its own rules set by Metacritic.

    And it shows the Agenda against Japanese Games and Japanese Review Sites applied by Metacritic and the certain review sites like Destructurd who are at the forefront here.
    Why do you guys now all of the sudden care about reviewing this game that doesnt even come out in the US and in the rest of the West?
    And Metacritic of course doesnt even allow japanese and other asian review sites on a site for a game that is only available in asia.
