    Beautiful ! Omg this game is amazing, it’s really beautiful and on PS5 at 4k60fps it’s a whole new game experience, i was just not happy with the main story, it wasn’t well scripted, some part of the story of the game were messy but i liked the overall.

    Didn't give this game a chance at first, with the bad reviews and bugs etc, recently got back into playing it on the ps5 wow this game is amazing I do think 60 frames per second helps a lot this game is stunning one of the best games I've ever played really hope there is a days gone 2.

    10,000 times better than Resident Evil 3. And even though I haven't played 7, I expose myself by saying it's even better than that.
    It's like mixing RE 2 and RE 4 in a country key.
    Great system for quests and skills.

    Hands down the best zombie game out there with the most intense horde encounters.
    The open world is very detailed.
    The characters are so loveable.

    Really enjoy the theme zumbi/survival horror with motorcycle and great history, with Deacon having to work your loyalty and love to your wife and his friend.
    After you finish the game, you can start in a high level with all the abilities, making better, without having to look for gas all the time while you can deal with all the humans and freakers without be scary or have caution in the beginning.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is in my top 10 of all time great video games. The story telling and cinematic cut scenes are phenomenal. It does a great job of drawing the player into the story and caring about the characters.

    Positives:
    - storing telling is very well done. Voice acting is outstanding.
    - character development
    - simplified inventory & skills management
    - excellent melee and gun combat mechanics
    - music and ambiance
    - engaging side missions with varied scenic settings and challenges
    - I think the bike fuel and damage management adds an interesting dynamic to the game
    - significant content. There is a LOT to do
    - Limited SJW virtue signaling. There is some, but not as bad as Last of Us 2
    - The use of the controller speaker was well done. I wish more PS4 games made use of the controller speaker.
    - The epilogue missions were well done and a nice surprise.

    Suggested improvements:
    - Add collectible locations to map when certain achievements are reached. For example, show all of the NERO intel locations when all of the NERO camps are found.
    - distinguish focus triangles between what is inside a building versus what is outside
    - put time of day on the main HUD view
    - open the camp gates faster or sooner as the player approaches so you don’t have to stop and wait for it to open
    - add a multiplier to experience or bounties for when the player chooses to battle or take on a side mission during the night. Some sort of incentive should be given for doing things at night.
    - automatically add zombie bounty when running over and killing a zombie with the bike. Give extra experience or credits when killing something with the bike
    - lose the plant picking, it’s a tedious game mechanic and overused in gaming.

    Bad:
    - The bigotry of stereotyping religious and "patriot" people is over the top. Likewise, ALL the "bad" guys are white. There really is no excuse for this.    … Expand

    This game had everything I wanted in a post apocalyptic survival horror game. The story was compelling and I wish they would've made online multiplayer with things like horde or pvp...also I was expecting a lot of extra content like DLC but it didn't pan out that way unfortunately. For what it's worth I loved it. 10/10. I am still hoping for a sequel.

    This game is so great! I am not usually into the zombie/horror sort of games but this game was just so addicting. I was a fan of the story, cut scenes and the voice acting. I really hope they make a sequel to this game. The only issues I had with this game was sometimes it didn't save properly which was a little annoying and the transition between gameplay and cut scenes could have beenThis game is so great!     This game is really well-made with a lot of love. The story is slow but gets better and better as the game progresses, the characters are all unique, the gameplay is fun and it's challenging as hell to fight against bunch of freakers. Deacon looks like a boring protagonist as the other AAA games but actually he has a lot of charms and is likable.

Es un juego maravilloso, la primera hora no me engancho lo que me motivo a dejarlo guardado por mas de un año. la segunda oportunidad me cautivo termine la historia en unas 40 horas en sesiones de mas de 12 horas diarias cosa que no acostumbro a hacer, pero no podia dejarlo, como fanatico del cine zombie este juego es vivir la aventura de primera mano, la historia y los personajes pueden llegar a ser tan aleatorios que recuerda peliculas como zombieland o zombies party, el estres no para jamas (lo jugue modo survival a la primera) pero es cautivador vivir la experiencia zombie de primera mano, conseguirte un oso zombie o normales, lobos zombies o normales, una variedad de zombies que te hacen correr o te sorprenden cuando menos lo esperas, lo separa mucho de el tipico juego zombie y es una experiencia donde los zombies realmente te hacen correr, el mundo es espectacular grande y variado, matas algo y ahi va a quedar durante mucho tiempo lo que te hace recordar cuando matates ese ser, el clima es le da un toque de dinamismo que y varia de formas y influye en el comportamiento de los zombies hay momentos en los que dices necesito un dia de sol, variedad de hordas que se presentan en el momento justo de evolucion del personaje, vuando debes manejar tu moto de una villa a otra te puedes conseguir muchas sorpresas por el camino, importante jamas te quedes sin combustible, puede ser un error enorme y que te obligue a caminar muchisimo, punto negativo del juego bugs varios y errores, muchisimos errores y fallas en el juego caidas de frames, y la rueda de seleccion de armas y herramientas no es la mejor, de hecho es bastante mala, aveces hay que entrar una o dos veces adicionales para seleccionar ciertas acciones en especial cuando tienes un mando un poco mas profesional y puede hacer complicada la jugabilidad en plena horda, de igualmanera la interaccion con el entorno podria ser mayor, hay muvhisimos vehiculos y estructuras que da una pisibilidad infinita de opciones que no se aprovecharon, sin embargo puede ser comprensible por el tamaño del mapa y las opciones. adicional la referencia a muchos otros juegos denota el mimo del juego, que quedo opacado por la parte tecnica 9/10.… Expand

É uma pena as pessoas terem avaliado o jogo no seu lançamento não pelo o que ele é, e sim pelas questões relacionadas aos bugs e otimização, que foram corrigidas em pouco tempo com as atualizações. Esse jogo merece sem dúvidas uma nota maior e um reconhecimento maior.

    Totally brilliant game. I am still playing it in 2022. There's nothing like taking down hoards. I haven't played every game ever but I can say it's a very rare experience. Whoever was the person who denied Days Gone 2 is a total moron.

    Fantastic game. Great story, great storytelling and great gameplay. Good pacing, It is a linear game, but with open-world elements, which are great for the fun factors and gaming mechanics but hurt the story. This game sets standards. And I like zombie game :)

    I had a great time playing the game. Yeah, it had a couple of bugs, but it’s storyline was great. The game was left on a cliff hanger, making me want to play a sequel even more. There is so much that Sony could do with this game, they just need to give it Days Gone 2.

    Your bike becomes an extension of you and the fact that bullets, fuel, and heavy weaponry are scarce, enriching your immersion in this post-apocalyptic world. Climbing and scaling is also fun and realistic.
    Enemy encounters like road ambushes and migrating hordes were the best procedurally generated gameplay content I've experienced.
    No level gating or grinding but player progression through skills is also top-notch!
    I enjoyed Deacon as a deeply flawed protagonist haunted by his past, a protagonist doesn't need to be a role model, the motion capture for Deacon is best in class.

    Now to the bad. Story pacing felt choppy at times. At times I was receiving 5 radio messages, one after the other. This could've been spread out by delaying mission unlocks more and injecting more incentive to free-roam, or by not allowing new transmissions to come through if you are 200 feet away from your GPS coordinates or a camp.
    I discovered later game content earlier than I should've at times, they could've just removed some set pieces and added them when the time came. I wish Enemy AI was smarter and, although Deacon's model is emotive, some side characters were stiff.
    Overall it's one of the few games I enjoyed getting the platinum trophy ever, my favourite game I played this year.    … Expand

    Amazing game, thoroughly enjoyed it, and what and epic story. Great acting, engaging side quests, lots of suspense, and hunting hoards is a truly rewarding exercise. A must play on PS4 or PS5.

    a really nice game. there were such games! great horror/drama/zombie. a really well done heartbreaking story. the only flaw is that in the game world (which is really big), it would have been nice to see "something" more. otherwise, for me it is the best game of the genre. highly recommended

It's not perfect by any means, the dialogue is cheesy and sometimes cringey but the overall story and the setting is excellent.     A breath of fresh air on PS5. Great story. Great mechanics. Hordes are amazing. Riding your bike through the beautiful Oregon countryside whilst blasting hordes is what makes this game unique. It's a real shame Sony didn't greenlight a sequel.

    This is TWD the videogame or more precisely, This is THD videogame if zombies in TWD was scary and dangerous. Love the sandbox feeling and the enviroment, which is equally beautiful and scary. Never seen a game with hordes of zombies, and they are truly scary.

    Days Gone is a fantastic game that I almost completely passed on, thanks to trusting IGN's bogus review. I don't get it really...if The Last of Us 2 is truly the masterpiece they claim, this should be right up there along with it. In fact, I enjoyed it more, because the story is more epic in scale and the characters are voiced perfectly and with lots of personality and detail. Also, DaysDays Gone is a fantastic game that I almost completely passed on, thanks to trusting IGN's bogus review. I don't get it really...if The Last of Us 2 is truly the masterpiece they claim, this should be right up there along with it. In fact, I enjoyed it more, because the story is more epic in scale and the characters are voiced perfectly and with lots of personality and detail. Also, Days Gone doesn't depress the living hell out of you like TLOU2 does.

    Since I'm making the comparison between both games, I should add that DG does not have the level of polish the TLOU2 does. I got the feeling when playing that the devs had to rush it out before they wanted, since there are some areas that could have used a little more tlc, such as odd audio levels of the MC's voice...some being WAY too loud at times. Or some frame rate dips here and there. This is the only reason I don't rate it a 10. If they had been given the time and/or budget to have the same level of polish as TLOU2 does, I would say this game is as deserving of the same praise. Regardless, I found it more enjoyable.

    It starts off slow, and as each hour passes the world gets bigger and better, expanding the world of perfectly crafted NPCs, more variety of enemies and a huge map. Its perfectly scary, at times when the pressure builds because you are out of ammo or gas, and the sun is setting (when the creepers come out more) and you are far from a safe house. I loved these moments because once I made it out of a tight situation, I would breath a huge sigh of relief.

    The enemies are varied, scary and you never becomes OP that they lose their threat. I played it first on hard and it WAS hard. I must have died at least 30 times more or less throughout the game.

    Riding the bike is loads of fun. I really enjoyed raiding camps. I enjoyed both melee and long range. The audio was very immersive, the music was great and the gunfire sound effects were amazing.

    The crafting part of the game was ok. I'd say I found it more frustrating then enjoyable. Especially when you need so much kerosene in this game and one must look all over the map to get enough to make Molotovs and napalm for hordes, yet you can only hold so much. I wish you could buy the stuff because I would have kept playing after the finale to get rid of the hordes but didn't want to spend all of the time scavenging to prep for the next battle.

    Anyway, I'm so glad I didn't miss out on this and I hope others, who may have been persuaded by bunk reviews get around to playing this game. It's fantastic and I really look forward to part 2, if they actually make it.    … Expand

    The critics rating of 74 is simply unfair, it does not reflect the quality of this game in its current state (bug free). I played 50 hours and barely came across a few non important issues. It is true the story isn't a highlight and the driving either. But the combat is very satisfactory, great graphics, amazing world to exore.

    On the downside, the main character is edgy, not always likeable and does take a while to adjust to. Quite a few things are repetitive like the lines when picking up items and how side missions are setup ... every time you need to clear a ambush camp or a nero controlpoint you have to follow the same procedure and it's inside areas a very similar. Ressource scarceness is a fundamental part of the game, which does keep tension and the non stopping hunting for materials up, but sometimes it get's annoying. The story background / world setting is kind of a new zombie theme variation and is interesting, but some background story developments seem very unplausible, like only having a few camps full of good people, and everyone else beeing out to kill you ... and once again a game without children and families.

    Overal it's a strong, but slow and lengthy experience with some very moving emotional story highlights and exceedingly fun elements like machine gunning down hundreds of zombies. This game has some major future franchise potential.    … Expand

    Got this game from PS+ but after playing several hours can say that I would have gladly bought it earlier if only I knew how good it is. Biker aesthetic repelled me from this game, but in fact it’s so well done here in mechanics aspect, that it’s a pleasure to simply move around the world. He's very flawed and almost unlikeable but in the end, he grew on me. Seeing his relationships and interactions with other main NPCs help build the bond between you the player and Deacon as you slowly get emotionally invested in his journey.

    3. Zombie hordes are terrifying. And I only played on normal! My blood really got pumping when taking down hordes. A very unique experience.

    4. Motorcycles upgrades are fun, and the variety of weapons, tools and skills at your disposal make character progression very satisfying.

    5. Satisfying gunplay. My favorite weapon is the sniper rifle. Sniping is oh so awesome. Challenge yourself by not tagging enemies and just rely on your situational awareness. I always go stealth and when things go awry, I take the action up close. Very fun combat gameplay loop.

    6. Engaging story that got me interested to stick to the end.

    7. Interesting collectibles and historical facts of Oregon.

    8. Open world is not as intimidatingly huge as Ubisoft's AC Origins/Odyssey and Wildlands. It feels just right, like Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding and MGSV.

    Cons:
    1. My main gripe is it's story. I love a big, meaty single player game like The Witcher 1-3, Skyrim, Fallout, God of War, etc but by the end I was like, when is this gonna end?? That's a sign of a poorly paced game in my opinion. They could have cut some parts of the game to make it more on point and I believe they will because I am overall impressed by Bend Studio and cannot wait for Days Gone 2.

    2. Storylines and Collectibles UI. When you progress through the story or find a collectible, there is no shortcut or highlighted icon to the updated lore. You have to manually dig through the growing list of collectibles and quest log find the information you need. Devs, just follow games like Dragon Age, Witcher, Mass Effect when it comes to codex and lore systems.

    3. Deacon. I can't stand the way he talks sometimes. Like he's unable to form a coherent sentence in his head. Not sure if it's the actor or direction they were going for. The 'umms', 'uhhhhs', awkward short pauses between words really made it frustrating for me. Boozer was much more fun to watch.

    4. Motorcycle dialog. Deacon screams to his NPCs when on the bike while the other person will be talking in a normal tone. Needs polishing.

    Overall, I really enjoyed Days Gone and am excited to see how Bend Studio builds and improves in this new IP. Bring on the PS5!    … Expand

    OR a 80 hour game if you play on hardest and get the most outta it..

    I didn’t buy this when it released due to all of the negative reviews but this (in my opinion) is definitely game of the year material. It’s one of the few games of 2019 where I genuinely can’t stop playing the game.

    Absolutely fantastic game, enjoyed the gameplay right to the end, just a couple of times the game crashed, so dropping a point, in around 100hrs+ gameplay. Great storyline, pacing, characters, world, graphics, sound. All Overall would definately recommend.

On the whole, Days Gone is a solid product. Shooting, melee, stealth, and motorcycle riding all feel good. The fundamentals are there. The story is also not bad, but don’t expect alternate paths and alternate endings. This sandbox has high walls.

    First, the good. The zombies in this game are fun to kill. They are not technically zombies. Instead of supernatural beings, the “Freakers” are rabid humans. You don’t need to destroy their brain stems to kill them. You can run them over, burn them, explode them, beat them with a 2x4, or simply shoot them. By the end of the game, you will be shooting a lot of the zombies. Hordes of them. And it never stops being fun. You can also kill a large number of humans, and though the gunplay is well done, the humans are not as satisfying to take down as some of the more interesting zombies. Fair warning, the first few hours are a rocky first few hours. Trust me, though, the game opens up into a very fun experience.

    Now, the bad. The game needed something more. You can see limitations immediately. The rank and file zombies only present themselves with 3 character models that have only 1 set of clothing each. The game design is also intent on making inventory management a nightmare. You can only carry 3 of each type of grenade, trap, or distraction device. Why not cary 9 pineapple grenades and none of the other? Nope. You can carry 3. And you can only carry so much of each kind of crafting material to make your own grenades. Very quickly, I stopped relying on crafted items and focused instead of buying ammo at camps. The game world tells you ammo is scarce. By the end of the game, you will be buying thousands of rounds of ammo on a whim. An open world sandbox game is always better when it embraces the power of player choice. Days Gone needed some more choices for something, anything, to set it apart from Red Dead Redemption in The Last of Us universe.

    “Days Gone” really does have a The Last of Us feel to it. You have the dread, the artificial family, and even a few jokes to break the silence. And you have the zombies and crafting. I feel like the developer pitched this game as an open world game in The Last of Us universe and Sony said no. So the developer made their own kind of zombie instead. The premier mechanic in the game is the horde. Instead of sneaking around and fearing for your life, you take on hundreds of zombies at once. Yet I didn’t have the tools to fight a horde for the first 30 hours of playing this game. If the game introduced the horde mechanic earlier, I would have seen some unique potential to a “Days Gone” series. Instead, you almost have to finish the game to fight the hordes, and most players do not finish games. I can understand why Sony didn’t green light a “Days Gone 2”.

    Full disclosure: I downloaded “Days Gone” for “free” with PlayStation Plus and played it on PS5. That means fast load times and 60fps. Sony also gave away Horizon Zero Dawn for free free last spring, and if you want to play one of the best open world games of all time, play that. (It is also 60fps on PS5). When you are done with Horizon Zero Dawn and want to shoot some zombies, give “Days Gone” a try. Tell ‘em Deke sent ya’.    … Expand

    Hands down, one of the best games of this generation. Story is great (mostly). The game mechanics are awesome and can be combined, and when you think you are overpowered, the game introduces hordes. Looking forward to a sequel or whatever Bend Studios come up with.

    The most UNDERRATED game of the last 5 years atleast. The game has a great story, great length, great amount of stuff to do and most importantly NOT POLTICALLY CORRECT. It's just an enjoyable, challenging, stealth, action, motorcycle driving, fun game.

    Oh, and there's a ton of super fast, crazy zombies in it. A must play for action game lovers.

A fantastically tense game once you begin encountering the hoards. Am still hoping for a sequel, as really want to find out what happens next and the story hints were very intriguing

Enemies are dumb sometimes. The bike is your best friend and one of the best mates in video games history. Hordes are the real challenge in the game. You have to strategize your approach.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I ended up buying this game after I watched a few videos showing how much it improved. Overall it's a great game. If I was to imagine what a post apocalyptical open world infected zombie game would be, it would be pretty close to this. The game does a great job immersing the player into the world. It's fun to drive around on my hog and see what's going on. A lot of the characters are spot on representations. From people who have been waiting all their lives for some end of the world stuff to happen. To others doing their best to protect the people. Everything this game does, it does it well. Shooting, hand to hand combat, driving and exploring feel good.

    That isn't to say there isn't some issues. I find the game has some inconsistences in it's story telling and characters. People do and say things that make little sense or contradict earlier things they said. For instance, earlier in the story I was sent on a job to get something and the guy who sent me out wasn't worried about causing trouble with a certain group of people. Later in the story he tells me I don't want to anger the leader of those same very people earlier he didn't care if I killed. Then 2 seconds later he says we need to take care of the group of people he just said not to mess with. It absolutely makes no sense. Or how about Saint John being a complete jerk to people in the camps, yet needing their help and or working with them. It makes no sense to create ill will with people you're constantly working with.

    There's other another issues that irk me. Anytime you go into a camp and walk by the mechanic or anyone else in a camp, they comment on you being there. If you happen to walk by them a few seconds later, they comment like they haven't seen you in days. You can do this over and over again. At one point I had a mission to check in on a friend. I drove all the way over there to ask him something for him to reply completely incorrectly to what I was asking and that was the whole mission. It's little things like this that don't seem right in a game that gets so much right. Then there's rescuing screaming survivors who are always the same few character models. Why would anybody scream in your face while rescuing them in a zombie apocalypses? Again, it makes no sense.

    Another thing that bothers me is how the game tries very hard to say who would survive the zombie apocalypse and who wouldn't. Only the gangsters, drug addicts, bikers and ex cons would survive. The game even says accountants wouldn't make it out in this world, says who? They try to make this clear delineation of who's capable of surviving and it makes no sense. Survival skills are not base on being a bad$ss on the streets before everything went down.

    But besides these few issues, the game itself is a ton of fun and I would totally recommend.    … Expand

    Finally picked this up and played straight through during the Covid-19 lockdown and all I got to say is wow...This is a true sleeper hit and a game that the initial reviews really got wrong upon release or are no longer valid. In April 2020, this is one of the best ps4 exclusives you can play. Thrilling and tactical gameplay with a misunderstood and extremely cynical main character.     Haven't even booted up my Xbox 1X, or played anything else (other than when friends are round) since downloading this for my PS5 (not even Spiderman). The world, story, mechanics, bike, upgrades, progression - at 60fps - are up there with RDR2, almost no busy work (cough Ubisoft) and just embarrassingly better than Cyberpunk; technically and in terms of cohesive world building. IfHaven't even booted up my Xbox 1X, or played anything else (other than when friends are round) since downloading this for my PS5 (not even Spiderman). If playing PS4 games as there were supposed to be (my Pro's noise sent me to Series X) then I'm happy to by working my way through the back catalogue (not you TLOU2 again/which Days gone beats in almost every way). Thank you Digital Foundry for getting me to download a game I'd dismissed due to reviewers, even when a friend said it was one of the best games he's played. I'm still only 30% complete (!!!!) and it has already had plenty of gob smacking emotions with a cast of characters that are varied, interesting and well fleshed out.     Just finished the game and I'm blown away by how fun it was. The world is gorgeous, gunplay is very fun, the characters feel alive and the story kept me hooked until the end. This game is the definition of underrated. Played in PS5 in 4k/69 fps with 0 bugs. It was a total pleasure.

    Love this game, the characters are great, the story is awesome, I love the fact that its open world. The only real gripe I have about this game was the dumb AI. You could hide in a bush and kill a complete horde of infected without them finding you.
    Other than that this game was a blast to play and I hope we see a second game soon.

    I’ve just picked it up and it's brilliant. So refined, so pleasing in almost every way. Its highest flaw is Far Cry structure. There is no need for these huge unguided sequences and story branches. Just make one damn nice storyline.

    Bend Studio made a great game with a rich, believable and captivating story. They’ve also resisted the lure of trends: there’s no multiplayer, no lootboxes, no “game as a service” plans – just a very solid (and finite) singleplayer experience.     At the beginning of the game you’ll feel like you've already played this game... then it will let you go for a while only to return with reinforcements (and lots of bugs). However, Days Gone has a couple of pleasant moments, that can't be denied. [Issue#295]

    I expect and hope for a sequel. Just know that going into this game that there is a lot of tedious nonsense to pad out a really good game to make it feel more worth every dollar, much to its detriment. I want to give this game a better score because the best moments are so good, but the large portion of this game is so bloody tiring that I just can’t.
