As much as I love Darksiders and want to support it, I must say that this game is a colossal disaster.. I wasn't expecting something mind blowing since I knew it was on a smaller budget, but some things like cut content, false marketing and huge technical issues are inexcusable.

First off, let me warn you about the scummy marketing THQ did with the trailer showing Fury and her horse... You NEVER get to ride the horse. Also, for those who were expecting the abyssal armor (which was in both previous games) it's gone and they're selling it as DLC in the future.
Moving on to it's technical department. Tons of frame drops and screen freezes because the game doesn't load the enviroment properly, as well as a game breaking bug where it randomly crashes loosing your WHOLE progress. Yes, you loose everything you did up to that moment.
Also, I can't possibly understand how a game with such tight spaces and mediocre graphics barely runs at 30fps.. God of War and Nier: Automata had better graphics and 5x times the world in size, yet they both had an uncapped option for PS4 Pro that could raise the framerate to 45-60fps. So what the **** is wrong with this one?
Lastly, I'll mention a couple of things about the gameplay. The fact that yet another game decides to rip off Dark Souls without having a clue on what makes the series good is already irritating.. But what's more irritating is how broken the dodging mechanic is. DO NOT dodge to the sides my friends, there are no invincibility frames unless you do a perfect dodge.
Gore and finishers are also removed in case you haven't noticed.

I believe Darksiders is a franchise with potential and that's why it kills me watching it getting screwed with entries like this. Darksiders 2 suffered from huge technical issues, same with this one. The lore is great, the artstyle is different and unique. It's a promising franchise, it just needs more attention or a new development team.

However, after several hours of game play I felt rather disappointed with the experience. Not only did the game fail to live up to my (probably slightly over exaggerated) expectations, but was ultimately a step backwards from its predecessors. I feel as if the developers gave up everything that set them apart to create a less impressive dark souls clone.

While still fun, the game feels like a clunky/unrefined God of War 3 combat system mixed with multiple aspects typically associated to Dark Souls and some mild platforming. If careless, or sometimes just unlucky, normal enemies are capable of swiftly dispatching your mythical horseman Fury as if she was some mediocre foot Soldier. Even Leveling Fury’s stats had minimal impact as enemies seemed to scale up with every point I gained. Combing this with the flawed camera and less than ideal “last bonfire visited” checkpoint system, I found myself rather frustrated instead of enjoying the intricacies of combat I remember from the previous games.

Sadly, I can’t claim to have stumbled across a lot of hidden appeal beyond the dash-and-counter slash combat. With limitless potential on interesting lore, the game ultimately delivers an underwhelming and forgettable story. Nothing really connected me to Fury’s motivations or really pulled me into the game.

In the end, I feel the creators attempted to piggy-back off the success of the Dark Souls franchise while maintaining their own distinct combat style and failed to deliver a solid product in either area. I would rate this a 6.8 out of 10 for being a fun game, but far from great.

First off, I normally wouldn't use a rating system in games since one person's 6 is different from another person's so ignore the rating.

Now not having finish the game yet, the gameplay is solid. The camera doesn't go back enough so you will get hit by enemies from behind. The skeleton archers do too much damage to you, and it does add walking sequences. The worst "gameplay" mechanic

Now not having finish the game yet, the gameplay is solid. The camera doesn't go back enough so you will get hit by enemies from behind. The skeleton archers do too much damage to you, and it does add walking sequences. The worst "gameplay" mechanic that slows down the pace for no reason. Save points don't refill your health or estus flask, I mean Nephilim Respite.

But by biggest problems are technical issues. On the PS4 with the 1.10 patch, the game runs at an unstable 40 with frame rate drops happening 10% of the time. Thankfully it doesn't happen in combat, but this should be an issue in the first place. DMC5 and God of War run at 60 on the PS4 pro and are graphically more complicated. The game freezes when loading areas so that breaks the pacing. The smallest glitch in this is that the game would still load part of the world when you turn the camera at least 38% of the time. Thankfully it's loading areas far away and loads it in a second, but you can still see areas load which is annoying. It was just rereleased too early. I should have to wait for a patch for a game to be finished. The game should just be finished when it releases. I would have happily waited another year for this game to run at a stable 60, the game to play smoothly without it freezing from loading the area, and to actually load the area properly. But they rushed it

I wouldn't recommend this game to everyone. Not even fans of the series. It doesn't play like the other two. Unless you play it for the story. There are good things with it. Level design is pretty good. Being interconnected and kinda interesting to explore. Combat can be fun, though not as good as the second one. Honestly, play it for yourself and see if you will lole it. Though I recommend the PC version. I haven't played it, but I have seen some gameplay. With it running at 60. Though take my word with a grain of salt. I'm not 100% sure if all of the technical issues are not on the PC port

Darksiders 3 mashes together a Metroidvania with Dark Souls to create a colourful adventure game with skill-based combat.

Over the course of the game you'll gather new weapons and abilities to open up new combat options and areas of the world to explore. With tons of secrets hidden away, there's always plenty to do as you snowball in power. The platforming starts off being quite basic but as you play you can unlock ways to glide, double jump or even freeze parts of the world. These also open up some interesting environmental puzzles to give some variety from the combat. There's also a New Game Plus mode, giving access to new tiers of upgrades and changes to enemy spawns - there's a lot of replayability here so there's lots to keep you busy.

The developers have addressed many issues raised by other reviewers here. A patch has been released to enable 'classic' combat to it more like previous games in the series instead of the Dark Souls style and while the dodge system can take some time to get familiar with, there are augments in game that make the window much easier to hit.

I noticed a few performance issues but nothing that spoiled my experience (it was largely some frame rate drops in dense areas). Because I played it a little later, it's likely they've released performance patches since the first reviews were written.

Overall, Darksiders 3 may have had a rough launch but is a solid entry in the series that's worth checking out if you like adventure games with a focus on engaging combat.

The growth of Fury's character as she hunts down the seven sins is a lot of fun to watch. The writing quality is not super consistent, but it gets the job done. And there's some legitimately laugh-out-loud moments.

It has very noticeable performance issues on PS4 - frame drops, stuttering, and an occasional crash. This port needed more work.

Even with all that, I really enjoyed my time with Fury.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another great entry in the Darksiders series and another severely underated one. I had a great time playing this game. I found that the combat was feeling great and that they built the world in a really intelligent way (each area is interconnected with the others ) and the more we progress, the more our new abilities allow us to use shortcuts. I never played souls game before but I read that the game design is similar. I can confirm that it looks like Metroid Prime also in term of level design.

I don't understand why some people are giving this game low scores like that. I mean the developers did a great job with the limited budget they had and this game is better than a lot of so-called AAA games.

For the negatives, I can say that the game is likely to crash sometimes but nothing that prevented me to complete the game. The graphics quality is a bit less than the average and there are important difficulty spikes in this game which makes it less accessible than Darksiders II. I beat this game on Normal difficulty and I'm quite experienced in videogames. I would understand someone chosing to beat this game on story mode as even normal is difficult .

Overall, a great game for me, it's an easy 8/10 !

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For the genre of game it is, it performs about how you'd expect. Basic but satisfying enough combos, though for the brief time until you first acquire your heavy attacks via elemental Hollows, that's all you've got. Generally however, spamming one or two buttons gets the job done and no enemy or boss really requires a true mixup in the gameplay.

The story is... fine. Fury changes in a very predictable and, in my opinion, somewhat unnatural manner. From 'who cares about these stupid humans' to 'I must protect them for they are so important to the universe' within the course of the 12-hour journey. This comes purely from meeting the foes of the game in the Seven Deadly Sins, who simply behave as Fury expected them to. Yet, it's her brief conversations with them that change Fury so drastically.

Summary: It's a fun enough game. The Hollows are really cool, like different colours of Super Saiyan. The story is lacking however, and mostly serves to play into the eventual Darksiders 4.

this game is a hard core dark souls like hack and slash game that tells the story about the four horsemen of the apocalypse this game takes place in the middle of the first one when war was taken prisoner by the charred council and it happens in the middle of the second one where death goes on a quest to prove his brothers innocence now ill get straight to the pros and cons

    pros:

-game is awesome combat is satisfying and you finally start with a horseman who is not depowered or wounded

-the fact that there is no map just a compass and that's it just explore makes the game all the more thrilling

-finally you don't need to get other peoples weapons and tools and the only new weapons you get is basically this elemental ones called hollows there is fire ice electricity and force and each one has its own weapon with combos

-fury is easily the best horsemen because of her commentary over things sometimes even breaking the forth wall just makes you laugh and get connected to the character

    - the environment is just beautiful and the enemies feel like they are just wondering their own business and not awaiting your attack same goes for the bosses you can actually see them chilling over some place and you needing to get there

    - this game punishes you for being greedy with your attacks this game is really hardcore about the combat and you need to dodge and learn your enemies attacks before you attack yourself kinda like dark souls

-the currency in this game is very similar to dark souls and some other stuff you can see where they got the ideas from for example there is a shard called undying shard which is basically like Tears of Denial where when your health drops to a zero you get some health back and a second chance

-there are some jaw dropping moments that even made my jaw hit the ground

    cons:

    - the story escalated to quick barely giving you a chance to get really into the story

-the parkour and the jumping stuff got a huge downgrade compared to the second game

    - the amount of bug and glitches and rendering issues is to much sometimes making me quit the game and take a break from that it needs to get fixed fast

-story is just to short and shallow

    - bosses aren't that interesting or challenging plus no additional side bosses or side missions

-the lack of horse riding although you are a HORSEMAN but yea what ever

-no replay value what so ever and no new gameplus

    - valgrim is a pain and for some reason they made it harder to buy health shards by upping the price of anything you buy everytime by a small amount but at some point its just to much

in conclusion this game is really good and i had a blast playing it it does have some bad moments but i gotta give some slack to thq nordic because this game was really low budgeted unlike the other triple a games in the market right now i wish they will learn of their mistakes and the next game they make will be a 10 but for now i give darksiders 3 a 7.5 out of 10

I love Darksiders. That is why my score is so high. Before D3 I played remastered versions, and I think they look better than D3. And that is a dick move THQ! Overall - I enjoyed it quite, but I can see a lot's of impovements need to be done (both - aestetic, and gameplay!)

It takes *heavy* influences from the Soulsborne games, from character progression, world design, -fast travel points, looping interconnected world- the high difficulty, and combat.

Graphics: Not top notch, but I liked the art style. They are serviceable. There are some frame-rate drops, not too bad, but sometimes do affect the flow of play, for example in the middle of combat. The lighting effects from Fury's different forms are really nice and sometimes come in to play while traversing the world.
There are really annoying freeze-frame loading spots where you need to wait for the game to load the next area.

Sound: Nothing mind blowing, but they work well, some minor audio "speaker cuts" but they aren't terribly distracting

Story: Love it, the reason you play this game is for the continuation of the first 2 games of story. The lore is awesome, the characters are interesting and offer a lot of development. Fury's character growth throughout is fun to watch and experience.

Gameplay: It has its positives and negatives. It is more difficult than the others, you'll need to pay attention to enemies and predict, dodge, and evade effectively if you want to survive. But for the most part they telegraph their attacks fairly well keep an eye out and learn the timing. You have a small invincibility window at the very start of your dodge, but it does not last the whole dodge, so if you miss the timing, you might get smacked. The i-window gets smaller with each higher difficulty so bear that in mind as well.
The other abilities you acquire add some interesting puzzle mechanics. The puzzles in this entry I feel are better than the previous ones, but there are places where you will get stuck scratching your head unable to understand what to do.
The other abilities may be interesting, but I feel the other weapons don't add much. You can beat the entire game using only your main weapon, without even touching the others and you wouldn't lose out on much. They don't really alter the flow of combat or change your approach at all, which is disappointing because there could have been some huge potential to really make the combat more dynamic.

There are some technical issues that need to worked on, game crashes, in the 20ish hours it took me to beat the story, I crashed about 3-4 times. A few minor bugs that aren't too impactful, and some issues with script cues triggering.

Don't expect game of the year, but it is enjoyable for what it is.

first of all, this is a PS4 game with late ps2 graphics, really, this is ugly AF.and the camera is so awfull that makes it even uglier. not to mention how hard it is to lock on a target and still dodge everyone else.
i didnt finish but i've killed like 3 or 4 Sins, so i think i went pretty far, actually, but there was mot one thing i've found creative nor interesting or charismatic. for me it just seemed like the most stupid and the most generic "bloodborne meets god of war" i will ever see.

Having played the first 2 Darksiders, the 3rd one is a step back in every aspect. Let me talk about the Pro's first:

    - Nice Level design and fluid interconnected semi-open-world (especially liked the underwater aspect) - Some might have this as a bad point but i like the animation style and even tho some textures look clunky it looks nice overall - Nothing really negative to say about

    - Nothing really negative to say about the Story itself

Sadly thats about it. Coming to the Con's:

    - Downgrade in variety of skills (No skill tree or actual Magic abilities)
    - The removal of loot which ultimately brings stale gameplay
    - Story progressive based weapons
    - The different secondary weapons give no real advantage over each other
    - Low damage numbers make you feel weak
    - Upgrading your weapons has no point since the damage increase is so low you can barely feel a difference (Whip Lv.9/Thunder Staff Lv.10)
    - Chaos form is extremely weak, its weaker then your regular hits but at least you dont lose HP while using it
    - No quick save
    - The hitboxes on a good part of moves and monsters are terrible
    - Even tho i dont mind the harder difficulty overall, i feels badly adjusted and basically ignores its casual player base since easy isnt really "easy"
    - The Puzzle aspect of the previous games was dumbed down to "swing over hole" and "fire jump"
    - Double jump is bugged and barely adds height to a regular single jump so i found myself constantly in fire form for optimal movement
    - Multiple crashes in just 28h of playtime
    - Dodge delay if you try to dodge back to back
    - To my knowledge there is no armor set available except the 2 i got. The standard grey and Gold one. They dont provide any stats whatsoever.
    - Leveling up Fury doesnt have an impact on the gameplay so you feel absolute no difference. ( i got to lv. 58 on my first Walkthrough, Lv.14 HP/Lv.22 Dmg/Lv.22 Magic)
    - There is seemingly no reason to collect souls other then Leveling up Fury which like i said doesnt denefit you in the slightest
    - Unbelievably cringy and edgy character script of Fury

I play on PC with controller and i have a mostly stable framerate and overall great performance. I see a lot of people complain about performance but i had a rather positive experience even tho sometimes the game freezes for about 2 seconds but continues to run smoothly again afterwards.

Overall i would not recommend this game. It has no variety in gameplay. It offers no satisfaction when upgrading or leveling up your weapons and character. Customization is non existent. Its a shell of a game with huge potential.
If you want to have a fun time hackin' and slashin' I do not recommend this game!

The balancing act between Dark Souls and Zelda went horribly wrong. There's nothing wrong with a harder game/encounters, but not when the developer uses bad mechanics of both genres and mixes them up. A proper tutorial for newcomers would have been nice, there's pretty much nothing of it outside of press this button to jump and that one to attack. I don't mind harder boss encounters, but holy crap are the reset points bad, like do the entire level before the boss again. Also, if you die during an encounter there isn't a possibility to regain your XP because you have to kill every enemy before the boss again which creates a slog. When you try to be a soulslike, you actually have to understand why it's fun learning an encounter and so on. The last steps and stage right before a boss are also important. Something like that is an absolute fun killer, it doesn't even matter if the game actually tries to be a soulslike or a Darksiders or whatever. Gunfire Games/THQ Nordic failed hard in that department.

Also the game is advertised as open world, though 90% of this "open" world are narrow hallways with bad camera to top it off. Also, the performance is really bad at times, sometimes even the game itself froze and I encountered one hard crash of the console while playing. The fps are capped, but I don't understand why. There are games with better graphics that aren't capped at 30 fps. I think the developer was just lazy here.

In the end, they done ****ed it up. How about trying to be a Darksiders game for once, and not dipping into every related genre of action adventure?

But I still like the apocalypse theme, I love the cartoonish touch, I like the combat and the Dead Souls-lite formula. It’s a little tacked on, but at least they are trying to highlight that each Horseman is different. I am simply having fun playing this. The maps are a bit bland but their design is very, very good. It’s a Castelvania style game done good. I really recommend this game to series fans. It’s a must play. For new to the series - probably you should start with Darksiders 1 to appreciate it. The game is pretty good based on the budget it had. The critics who say its not good , maybe has some other agenda. People try this game once, its a good game in the series. It finishes on the positive note that we might see the forth horsemen. Support a smaller studio once and play it yourself and make your opinion then its way better than most of the AAA bugged mess we see these days.

The story is ok. I would rate it a little better than the second game, but lower than the first game which sets the tone of the whole story. It has some great twists. I really enjoyed them as i didn't expect some of them to happen.
The characters are pretty solid. The best thing they nailed in this game is Fury and her great personality. Strong, sarcastic and in need of anger management therapy. As the story progresses it's easy to see that her personality evolves pretty well after each enemy encounter. She is still Fury, but finds a purpose for her life and she's not the same hot headed maniac. Ok, she'll still be the same hot headed maniac, but wiser with better decisions. The other characters are solid as well.
The dialogues are funny, the sounds are good as well. There are times when fury does some bad ass things and the music plays a certain tone. It reminded me a bit of God of War 3's epic moments.
The sounds and music are in tone with every area or level and connect very well.
As much as i liked these parts of the game, i saw the level design as beign quite mediocre. When you're hunting the seven deadly sins, you would expect them to live in fancier houses and not just that. You don't have a minimap or something like that. I can't say i got lost or something, but some areas were pretty chaotic.
I got myself in some fights while i was in tight spaces and i hated it because the only dodge that i could've made was going backwards. If i tried to dodge left or right i could've been easily hit. Some enemies through at you a 180 degrees attack.
Vulgrim returns again with his soul shop. The shop reminds me of the shop from devil may cry. Ex.: if you buy a "health potion", the next one you buy, will be more expensive.
The game also has other bugs. Sometimes the textures didn't load as intended and some characters needed a couple of seconds to load from ps2 to ps4 pro. I also encountered a crash.
As a conclusion, the game has its flaws, but it's worth playing. I recommend it.

As we all know Darksiders is a fan favorite due to it's art style, lore, story, hack 'n' slash combat, and lovable, or shall I say, unlovable characters. Also because it's a game that removes you from real life, and into fantasy. And isn't that why most of us play video games? For the escape? The franchise has aways taken inspiration from other games, and this time around we can clearly see Metroid and Dark Souls, yes, even I hate hearing that in reviews, but in this case, it's true.
In this 3rd game, they've taken bits and pieces from the first two things, removed a lot, and added a lot. Which isn't a bad thing, as this is how games change and evolve. Whether you miss the chests, the horse riding, or even the hundreds of weapons/armour loot, there are still some finishers and plenty of things to add to your inventory, upgrades, and ass-kicking to be had. The creativity with Fury & her attitude, as well as each of the Seven Deadly Sins, makes for quite the game just vocally during gameplay and cutscenes. The mixture of it all flows nicely.
Now, is this my favorite game of the series thus far? I don't know yet, as I plan to do another complete run through to help decide. But, what I will say is, at the end of the day, it's still indeed a Darksiders game. It feels, plays, and looks like a Darksiders game. And that to me, as a huge fan since the beginning, is extremely important!
Don't let some of the bad reviews hinder your experience. A lot of the performance issues have been resolved or are in process. And most of the reviewers haven't even completed the entire game and are basing their opinion off an hour or two. If you love the franchise and this game interests you, go get it, and let your own experience decide your own opinion, not someone else's. I'm sure you wont regret buying it.

BUT it is very difficult to understand whether the actions of the game go before the first part or after the first part, although at the end they say that everything happens after the first part, but there are discrepancies at the beginning.
The character has learned to run and this is very cool, in other parts of this is not enough. This game is definitely very good.

I only had one platinum trophy until today and that was in bloodbourne. This game does have technical flaws but hopefully will be patched up. Aside from that this game is amazing. Everyone who likes hack n slash games with a challenge and an interesting story should play this game it is well worth your time.

The fighting system(!s). I can only attack, when I dodge. The rest of the attacks are useless. They don't make damage, the boss hits you, and you die. A normal attack makes 60dmg, the dodge makes 120 min.
Some of the bosses make undodgeable damages. First boss right at the start spans waves at each other, and you can try to dodge them in mid air. A lot of the fighting is annoying and you can easily die when 3 enemies gangs you and stun-locks you.
I stopped playing when I had 2 lag waves at Wrath. The second boss. I died twice, at nothing.

    I can't play this game.

Well this is what I have to say. For this game you have to learn the skills and also learn how to apply them. This was the case in the first two games as well. The fighting mechanics are fun to me as a whole. I was stuck on fighting wrath for a little bit because I was not paying attention to his attack patterns. Once I slowed myself down and paid attention to his attack patterns I was able to beat him easy. Another thing with this game is that my opinion is that I am enjoying the game as a whole. Now be aware that as the game stands currently you can tell that they rushed it out of development in the late stages because it is blatantly obvious that they did not scrub through for glitches. The frame rate and stuttering issues are annoying. Also if you are a person on the fence about buying the game stop looking at the reviews people are putting up on various websites and go watch a few lets plays of the first portions of the game so that you can see if it is a game you want to play. Darksiders 1 and 2 were a mix between Zelda and DMC. This time around the game tries to go it's own way and suffers for it. My biggest gripe is that there is no more dungeons in the game, that's right! The best thing about the old games are gone. Now the game is only a long hallway with some monsters in the way.

I love the Darksiders series, the first one was a masterpiece and the second, with it's downfalls was still close enough to count as one as well. The third feels a bit off to be honest. Many of the riddles were fun to solve and some even had me for a few minutes and had those fun "oooh" moments. The only reason it's got an 8 is because I do not like dark souls, never been able to play any of those games as I find it frustrating. But I didn't here so it's not that bad, you loss souls on dying but the game has a difficulty bar and you can play on lower difficulties if you don't feel like farming souls and being on edge the whole time. No stamina bar is also a great deviation from the souls formula I very much welcomed. Although I hate the lack of a map and I do not understand why this one unlike the others chose to not include one in game.
The world still feel great and the characters are imaginative and fun as always (I love the always angry Fury, She is hilarious at times).
Game is an 8 but got a 10 to balance unfair 0's (no game is a 0!)

TL;DR - A great addition to the series and a must for any fan. The dark souls addition is annoying but not as much to ruin the experience.

Completely changed the genre from Darksiders 1&2. Where they were hack n slash puzzley dungeon RPG's this game has completely ripped off the dark souls mechanics. And unfortunately due to input lag, poor hit boxes and a very slow healing animation what should be a tough fight becomes near impossible. I'm playing on Balanced (normal) and it is anything but.

Maybe they will patch the poor control lag but who asked for a genre change? When over the many years since DS2 were fans saying make Darksiders more souls like?

For me i just dont like the repetition of having to wade through hordes of mobs every time you restart from a checkpoint. It's boring, time consuming and slows down the story progression. I'll bump it down to easy mode and try and burn through it but then it's getting traded.

Update: Having finished the game i very much enjoyed Fury's journey and story. I even prefer it over Death's but it doesn't bare replaying given the frustration of everything in between the juicy story points.

They are just a small team and you guy expected too much, as my opinion i see the game was fine, the combat really date back to Darksiders 1 and come on, this is game industry, it is art, and art doesn't meant to be always realistic, if it so it call photograph, every game got it own art style, why the hell it had to be always super realistic, it just give me so much headache, do the same peoples hate cartoon as well because it not "realistic" enough ?
As i see Fury was a deep character, she got her own personalities, not emotionless robot.
This 9 not just for the game but also for the developers, if you cannot support new developers for their work despite of the team, for their ambitious and confident, don't expected gaming industry get out of hell circle.

I was expecting some quality over the game, some good dungeons, good fights, good puzzles, platforming blablabla.. what the previous 2 games has offered. The combat flow feels wierd, if you get close to a group of enemies, it is possible to die no matter where you are, you will be spawned to the last Vulgrim place you've visited. And of course, you'll lose all of your collected souls, you have to fight again - if you want but you can just rush straight ahead -and you can collect your lost souls. The only good thing about this game is the voice acting at certain known characters. I am not reccomending the game, not even at sales. The mixed critics are truly right. This isn't the Darksiders game we loved. RIP DS franchise. Expand

I felt Furry was a cool character and she has a good story to prove herself among the other horsemen, but I still like war and death more as the main character. I really enjoyed the darksouls play style which really added a much needed difficulty level to the series. The metroid level design was a great addition as well, no maps just a compass to direct you to the next sin. On the way to defeating each sin there are many secrets and collectibles to find that make you want to search every corner of the map. The environments look amazing definitely best in the series. The gameplay is tight and well responsive the dodge window is well done and once you get the timing down on enemies you will be smashing your way through them. The boss battles are all amazing and remember-able, each sin has their own unique move set and personality based on their names. Fury will unlock 4 different weapons besides her main whip throughout her journey and each one has their own unique moves set. The only reason I didnt give Darksiders 3 a 10 was because the loading times while playing would pause you mid whatever your doing and load. Also the frame rates would drop low while in a heavily populated area. I bought Darksiders 3 on sale for $20 and to me was worth every penny, I would of gladly paid more. Expand

Textures not loading fast enough, hitboxes being out of place, "cutscenes" being ruined by texture pop ins or even whole character models shifting and many more issues, that should honestly not be in any game on release.
The combat in this game is equally as terrible, it neither resembles Darksouls or Darksiders of the past and feels like a cheap Chinese copyright knockoff of the two. The game tries for the "close combat" approach of Darksouls but falls incredibly on its face when every move forces you to shift in any given direction and enemies fly around you like ninjas, leading you to switch to Darksiders of old and try and just kill the thing before it kills you.
I am writing this review before finishing the game but I am giving it leniency points just for the story. Yes it is not exactly J.R.R Tolkein quality but I find it satisfactory for a Darksiders game.

As a side note I am glad people are finding this game enjoyable, but giving it a needless 10/10 is completely irresponsible. The game is a shambles and the developers should see the score it deserves, not the score it has been bumped up to.

I’d much rather have a meaty and engaging adventure that’s happy to embrace its videogame origins over a lavishly budgeted and beautiful ‘experience’ littered with dull introspective and endless navel gazing. Darksiders III gleefully provides the former while completely shunning the latter, and I’m all for it.
