    Played for the first time in 2022. Great game! First 20 or so hours the game was just amazing! I loved learning its mechanics, its style and how clear controls are. The mechanical part of the game felt very fair - if you lose, you know exactly why, no RNG. If only these mechanics were clearly explained in the game though.
    The issues started after Anor Londo. Up to this point I felt like    Played for the first time in 2022. Great game! First 20 or so hours the game was just amazing!     The issues started after Anor Londo. Up to this point I felt like learning and growing, but right after Anor Londo everything became just too easy. I just face tanked Neato and Four Kings. No dodging or blocking, just Havel's armor with high poise, Great Club and pressing attack repeatedly did the thing. Other enemies did not show any challenge either, which led me to lose any further interest, and I dropped the game. But maybe it's just too easy for 2022, since I killed most of the bosses in one try anyway. Also, Blighttown and Sens Fortress were not as bad as I expected, even somewhat cool in their own way.    … Expand

    The game that introduced the souls-like game genre into the game world. One of the truly revolutionary games. The storytelling of the game is very mysterious and impressive. Fascinating world and level design. Legendary game characters and their stories. Various gameplay dynamics. Various items and skills. Fun combat mechanics. Overall great bosses and various enemies.     No es el mejor juego de la saga Souls, pero históricamente es el más importante. A este juego debemos agradecerle que luego llegaran joyas como Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne o Sekiro, así como que se creara un nuevo género: el Soulslike. A pesar de su dificultad, es un must para cualquier persona a la que le gusten mínimamente los videojuegos. En cuanto al DLC de Artorias, añade alguna horitaNo es el mejor juego de la saga Souls, pero históricamente es el más importante. A este juego debemos agradecerle que luego llegaran joyas como Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne o Sekiro, así como que se creara un nuevo género: el Soulslike.     I've never played the original Dark Souls which, I imagine, would by now have some not-so-well-aged mechanics, graphics etc. I expected this remaster to be much more modern, but it really felt like playing a PS3 game. Dark Souls is of course a trilogy of high quality so I could enjoy the game regardless of my slight disappointment with this remaster.

    I came to this game late, but it is truly a masterpiece. I’m so glad I decided to go back and play it, even in 2021. This game is timeless, and plays so well even many years after its creation. While some complain about the difficulty of Dark Souls, It is truly worth the effort to play and experience the game. Don’t miss it.

    Very creative and wonderfully designed world. Boss fights are mostly very well created. The lore is rich and cryptic with a minimalistic plot. Combat system is great and very composite. There is a ton of weapons in the game and almost each of them has diffrent moveset of light and strong attacks or special abilities. Across the game you will    One of the best RPG games ever made.

    Loved it as I usually love Souls games. Thank you FromSoftware for putting out reliable games. I played the original and loved replaying. Minimal glitches (if any) and challenging gameplay as I expected. I was happy to play the “improved “ version.

    It isn't a perfect game, you can easely see that the gameplay isn't polished. But about the lore and zones design maybe a 9 ( after Anor Londo the game declines, you can see that they didn't have much time). It also has some bosses that aren't very interesting. Indeed, it isn't the worst soulslike but it isn't perfect.

    A classic. Is a must play, but of course, it has a few problems: the second half of the game feels worst than the first, enemies feel slow and the game easier with time, and some other minor things that wont stop you to enjoy this game.

Aunque admito que puedo verme un tanto subjetivo al tratarse de un Souls y que, como suele    Buen Juego, Poca Novedad.

    JUGABILIDAD:
    Intencional o no, la fluidez del personaje es para dar pena. Puede que se deba a un problema de optimización que se arrastró hasta esta versión, o simplemente que tenga un gameplay pesado, lento (pero en el mal sentido) y que en resumen, se siente fallido. Aunque admito que puedo verme un tanto subjetivo al tratarse de un Souls y que, como suele ocurrir, termino comparándolo con Bloodborne.
    Y tal cual como el ya mencionado, Dark Souls también agrega dificultad artificial con el ya clásico de FS en que mueres al caer por un vacío que es imposible de ver, una trampa de la cual no hay señal, y claro, la desastrosa cámara que nos hará morir varias veces cuando nos ataquen enemigos que jamás pudimos enfocar porque la misma está “atorada” entre dos paredes. Un desastre que la desarrolladora maquilla de dificultad. Aunado a esto los mensajes en pantalla nos harán perder también en algunas ocasiones, y es que a la mitad de una pelea, ¿Qué me importa si el enemigo soltó o no un ítem?

    Eso sí, el diseño de escenarios y su interconexión es muy bueno, muy por debajo de juegos posteriores (Bloodborne, nuevamente) pero igualmente bueno. Mientras que la mayoría de los jefes no son complicados, sino que están situados en escenarios que suelen ser engañosos, y que recalcan la dificultad artificial de la que hablaba. En varios de ellos, por ejemplo, tendremos que dejarnos caer desde una determinada altura, lo que significa que ya de entrada empezamos la batalla con la mitad de nuestra barra de salud.
    Otros jefes, sin embargo, son más bien injustos. Algo clásico de FS, claro está. Y aunque en algunas batallas podremos pedir la ayuda de otros personajes, dicha ayuda de los NPC está demasiado desproporcionada. En la batalla contra la mariposa, por ejemplo, yo no tuve que hacer literalmente nada, y la NPC la derrotó de tres golpes. Caso contrario a lo que pasó con el jefe final del DLC.

    Bastante roto, en resumen.

    GRÁFICOS:
    Visualmente decepcionante incluso para tratarse de un remaster. Poco que decir mas que eso: es decente pero nada que reluzca para bien. La nula narrativa y pobres cinemáticas tampoco ayudan de mucho.

    SONIDO:
    Muy bueno. Solo de empezar la voz narradora nos damos una idea de la calidad de sonido e inmersión que el juego ofrece.
    Las áreas están muy bien ambientada, y las peleas contra los jefes son memorables gracias a la banda sonora de cada uno de ellos, no tengo queja al respecto y lo cierto es que he disfrutado mucho del soundtrack.

    INNOVACIÓN:
    Nula. Un Demon Soul's 1.5 con apenas un lavado de cara para venderlo como juego nuevo.    … Expand

    Bosses: This is one of the main attractions. The bosses are brutal, but balanced (with maybe 1-2 exceptions). There is such a fantastic range in bosses that you have to play the game to experience it. You want secret bosses? DS has it. You want ranged bosses? DS has it. You want to topple an armoured giant? DS has it. Not only that, all the bosses have a great variety in attacks and mechanics that force you to change your play style to defeat them. It's always fascinating to see which bosses other players found the easiest and the hardest, because sometimes one boss will feel intuitive to you but not to someone else.

    Story: DS is notorious for leaving the story up to the player. The storytelling is specific enough to direct you through the game, but vague enough that the greater meaning is up to you. Just like with the bosses, different people will take different things away from the game.

    This game (along with Demons Souls) kicked off an entire genre in gaming. If you're into dark fantasy or RPGs this is the game for you.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. my opinion on the souls franchise is somewhat bias as I have been a massive of fan of Fromsoftware's releases over the years so take that into account. And remember this is my opinion.
    This game is fantastic, if you've never played it try it. And don't you dare go hollow!

    *Some Spoilers Below here*

    This is one of my favorite games of all time, I think it is one of the few games I have played that come close to video game perfection.
    The Kingdom of Lordran (The games setting) Is one of the most immersive environments I have ever explored in a video game, and a lot of that has to do with excellent Metroid esc level design, meaning that the whole entire world is literally connected; In Dark Souls you are able to go through almost the entirety of the game without seeing a single loading screen (Not counting dying). And this really helps build world building in a way that you really just have to experience for yourself to really understand. The world building of Dark souls also lies in the look/aesthetic of the areas you explore, which is something I don't hear people discuss a majority of the time. Lordran is a beautiful and haunting land, you go from stunning the sun bathed Anor londo. To the dark and twisted abyss of the Oolacile, the contrast of the areas you explore in is so polarizing and they somehow complement each other perfectly. And the music is absolutely stunning as well; while exploring Lordran you will hear very little or no music at all, making the moments when you hear something like the powerful choir and the grand piano of Gwyn's arena even more powerful.

    And now the topic of difficulty, I don't think you need my review to know that this game is difficult and unforgiving. Everyone has heard the classic "This is the Dark souls of ___ ", as much as game journalists love to compare this game to everything that they dies once in, its really to the level that they make it out to be. However yes you will die, if it is the first time you have played one of these games, you will die a lot; however death in these games is treated much differently in this game than most, the developers are very aware of the games difficulty, many of the Npc's that you will encounter will always try to cheer you on and give you words of motivation, as when you quit and give up you go hollow.

    Lastly I would like to talk about how i had given the game a 7 after all of the praise I've given the game, now I would give Dark Souls a 10, not the remaster. To put it bluntly I have never seen such little passion and effort put into remastering a classic such as this, there are such little changes it is downright laughable. The most you will be getting is a somewhat better pvp scene (at least on console) and maybe some new vines. The only changes I really noticed in my playthroughs were few quality of life changes that you could just mod in the original, and they work worse than the modded changes. Lets take the Drop amount feature, it essentially just made you be able to drop many items all at once rather than one. I have had many problems such as items just disappearing when using this feature, it also has at least 3 known duplication glitches and adds even more of a cheating problem that Fromsoft has simply neglected to even exist for the longest time. This remaster hardly even fixes many of the issues of the original had if not it has more bugs than its predecessor, which is absolutely ridiculous. The only thing that is good the has come from this remaster is that got ported to the eighth and soon to be ninth generation consoles. If you are interested in all of the problems with this remaster, I suggest a great video by Infernoplus titled "Dark Souls Remastered is Trash".

    All in all Dark Souls is a fantastic and brilliant game with impressive world design, a beautiful soundtrack, Addictive combat (All be it clunky at times) and a great challenge most people I think are bound to hate and love.    … Expand

Second half of the game (after Anor Londo) sucks, the bosses in this game also suck, you're really going to sit and lie and tell people that this game has better bosses than Bloodborne or Dark Souls III? Not a chance, you fight a re-skin 3 times, and there is genuinely only two (yes, two) bosses that are truly great being Ornstein and Smough and Knight Artorias, who are undoubtably outstanding. The world/level design is truly phenomenal though and saves the game a lot.… Expand

    A la fecha este sigue siendo el mejor souls de todos, es perfecto, los bosques, el mundo la música , miyasaki no pudo superar su mejor obra, pero si reinventarse con Bloodborne, este juego marco mi infancia , quizá el mejor juego de mi vida al menos hasta hoy en 2021

    I played Bloodborne and Sekiro, and so i tried dark souls. I get why it has so much influence, but i quitted after a few days playing because i wasn't enjoying it at all, it was so tedious. It is slow and everything works against you. That isn't bad in itself but everythins is just so very slow and tedious.

    Literalmente es la versión Prepare to die con una mejora gráfica ligera y una mejora de rendimiento, que sí se nota más. Sí ya lo has jugado no sé si te merece la pena pero si eres nuevo lo recomiendo bastante.

    it's not a challenge, it's a buggy mess with some of the worst programming i've ever seen. just because some people like to google cheese strategies does not make this a good game. if you have to cheese, then you have a bad game. plain and simple. this game is bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. i'd rather play ET.

    I finally sit down and played DS Remastered. Really enjoyed the game and i must say that there is no other experience like Dark Souls. My only complaint is that the game could have been more welcoming at the start.

It's this genius game design that makes the game so replayable and so incredible on the first run. For newcomers please don't use guides, and only use wikis when absolutely necessary, just throw yourself at the wall until eventually it caves in. I don't even need to talk about boss battles, obviously those are amazing. The variety in builds is extraordinary and makes the game infinitely replayable.

Yo no diria que es dificil si no exigente por eso se muere demasiado pero aunque te exija la experiencia me gusto la experiencia ya sea por los personajes, la historia, la banda sonora o la jugabilidad.Tambien me ayudo personalmente a tener más autoestima como tener más confianza en mi mismo pese a la adversidad que afrontas en el camino sigues intentado llegar a la siguiente hoguera. Para mi dark souls es un juego que me ayudo mucho y lo recomiendo. Entiendo que haya gente que se siente decepcionada por ser más bien un port que un remastered pero si no hubiera sido por el port nunca lo hubiera probado… Expand

This game comes at a time where Miyazaki didn't understand the difference between fair difficulty and **** There are a lot of quirks that provide unessecary challenge and are just there to kill you.     A masterpiece. Everything started with this game. This is by far my favorite franchise. The combat system, the mysterious history, the environment, and all medieval armors and weapons are awesome.

    I love this game. I played it before on the gen prior to PS4, and i 100% it again. My first time experiencing the DLC as well. DS Remastered is a nice package for any newcomer to the franchise.

    The graphics and the game in general hold up impressively well considering this is around a decade old now. The remaster gave us a nice 60fps, but not much else. This isn't a huge problem as it's good to experience this as close to the original as possible. The levels in the game provide a nice variety to show off some good graphics. This suffers in the darker areas and some such as the Londos are a bit bland.

    The story of DS is one you can invest nothing in and still have an amazing time, or deep-dive and learn everything if that's your cup of tea too. This comes down to personal taste - if you need a story to motivate you, you're gonna have to work hard here to learn it. However most of us come for the gameplay, so I left satisfied.

    The gameplay is what DS is famous for. Firstly, is it hard? On your first play-through, it actually isn't that hard. You can either 'git gud' or you can actually learn how the game works (these are possibly the same thing). Dark Souls is a tough game on the surface, but with the right tactics, gear, attributes etc. you can make the game a lot easier for yourself and defeat most bosses on your first time.

    This draws out a debate, however. Constantly reading guides and watching tutorial videos on YouTube can become laborious and take away from the magic of exploration and discovery. The idea of DS is that you are supposed to die a lot and learn through trial and error. I found that going in blind and seeking help when stuck was a good way to go. Again, on your first playthrough you can use pretty much whatever tactics and approach you like, however as you learn more about the game you will find that there are much more efficient ways of playing, equipping and developing your character. This is not a bad thing though, as it allows you to approach it on both a hardcore mindset or a more casual mindset. For me I found the chess-like combat incredibly engaging.

    Overall, DS is a game you just have to try for yourself and not give up in the early hours. If you're struggling, look up guides and play the game itself offline. I wish I had played this years ago as this is a seminal piece that I thin everyone needs to either play or appreciate.    … Expand

    This is just Dark Souls with 60 FPS and higher resolution (on pro). Not that it is a bad thing since the game is an epic adventure. Has amazing features as new game + and varied classes. The bosses can sometimes be a challenge. The only boss I have a problem is the Bed of Chaos but the community already knows that xD.

The gameplay is where this game shines. I got absolutely brutalized my first playthrough but once I got a handle on it after playing hours of Dark Souls 1-3 and Bloodborne it became some of the most satisfying gameplay I've experienced. This and Bloodborne are the two games where finally beating a boss after slamming my head against a wall for hours on end made me cry tears of victory. It's a feeling only possible in games this difficult that require practice to get down the timing and strategies needed to succeed. After getting the Platinum in this game, I've replayed it several times because it has great replayability. It is one of few games that I would liken to comfort food or watching your favorite movie. Most of the environments in this game are really well designed and visually impressive.

    That being said, there are glaring flaws in this game. I take two points off this score for the Bed of Chaos boss fight alone. I have fought and defeated all but two of the boss fighting in the Souls series and Bed of Chaos is probably the worst designed fight of any of them. Capra Demon is also a slog but would be forgivable if BoC was a better fight.

    I would strongly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a challenging video game. Success requires a lot of practice and learning along the way and therefore feels all the more rewarding.    … Expand

Lo que menos me ha gustado del juego fue que los movimientos eran mucho más lentos que en Dark Souls III, a parte de que la banda sonora no impactaba tanto, y los jefes eran fáciles si ibas mamadisimo.

Hay gran cantidad de enemigos y todos son diferentes y agresivos pero tendremos una gran variedad de escudos para protegernos y armas que podremos mejorar bastante y de diferentes maneras para que las adecuemos según creamos que sea lo mejor para derrotar a tal enemigo. Adicionalmente obtendremos hechizos y piromancias que básicamente lo resumo en magia estos se obtienen de diferentes maneras los mas fáciles son de pago con almas dentro del juego pero serán los mas básicos, al final de cuentas esto hará los combates muy divertidos y variados.

    Algo que hace especial a este juego es que desde que encontremos nuestro primer ítem nos revelara partes de la historia del juego como un gigantesco rompecabezas, ya que la misma se narra atreves de los NPC´s que nos encontremos en el camino las pocas cinematicas y los ítems así que aquí todo es importante.

    En resumen tenemos un juego solido con grandes combates finales, gran historia y ambientación, divertido a mas no poder, y con componentes online que lo hacen mas original ya que podemos ayudar a jugadores que ni siquiera conocemos o podremos quedar de acuerdo con nuestros amigos o podremos estropearle la aventura a otros jugadores invadiéndolos y estropeando su avance, esto se escucha sencillo pero hay unos "PACTOS" que haremos dentro del juego con NPC´s que nos darán recompensas según lo que decidamos hacer o ayudar o eliminar a la persona online.

    As someone who didn’t have a PS3 or a PC to run the original Dark Souls, it was a great chance to play DS in its original state at a smooth 60 FPS. For allowing me to finally experience the masterpiece on my PS4 with no bugs, I give it a 10 out of 10.

My overall experience was very good, and my initial experience was the most painful I've ever had.

    This game had one of the worst first impressions and it made me hate my existence, however a lot of the frustrations I've encountered were avoidable by looking up on how to proceed in the game (which I definitely recommend). At first I wasn't so impressed with the visuals of the game, but pretty soon it grew in me and I honestly think the game looks beautiful; Not perfect, but beautiful.

    The soundtrack other than 2 or 3 tracks is not that special, and similar to other FromSoftware games you pretty much don't encounter any music except in boss fights. Speaking of boss fights; I don't really know if the fact that this is my 3rd "souls" game made me feel the bosses overall are not that ridiculously hard or they actually aren't that hard. In case of having poorly designed boss fights, rather being the fighting area or the attacks of the boss or just how to beat the boss, I would say the game has one such boss, which again one can look up a guide and it'll become simple.

    In any case, the main source of my deaths were not the bosses but the normal enemy types all around the map. There are enemies I absolutely despise, and areas I really don't like to explore; I'm now used to both beating the enemies and exploring the area, but the path to my current state was indeed somewhat painful.

    In general, is this game a masterpiece worthy of a remaster? I think yes, it kinda is. The whole map of the world in this game is impressively massive with a lot of attention to details. The lore, the NPCs, the weapons, the outfits are all interesting. One other thing about souls game, is you get rewarded for exploring the areas of the game and you will most of the times find something interesting and/or useful.

    So overall I do love this game and I can recommend playing it.
    I can't give this game a 10/10 since:
    1- my first impression was really painful (anyone else without using a guide will likely have the same painful initial experience) 2- There were some parts of the game that were not designed that well. Some areas, enemy types and 1 or 2 bosses.

    I also bought the game in discount and I'd totally recommend buying the game on a lower price.

    One of the greatest game ever made, remade into ultraHD and 60 fps, what more could u ask for, it does not need to add anything else, it would be a even better experience for new souls players.

    What matters to me is that they fixed Blighttown play town on the original PS3 release had a frame rate issue Dark Souls remastered fixes it this remaster was made for consoles and I'm absolutely satisfied I'm able to play it on my PS4

It is one of the best games I ever played in my life. If you like playing RPG type like Castlevania symphony of the night this game is a must play! Comoletely time worth!

    Es el mismo juego que el original. No trae nuevo contenido y a nivel gráfico es lo mismo, simplemente se mejora la resolución y ya. A pesar de ello, si no lo habías jugado en la anterior generación, no lo dudes y pruébalo si te gustan los desafíos.

    But the best thing about this game is how everything is connected. Not just through map layout but also the lore of the game itself.
    The lore of the game is also just awesome and your first play through makes you really curious and you just want to find out more about this whole world you are dropped into.
    The challenge is probably the most known factor about this game. And even though there are some **** challenges (Capra Demon and Bed of ****) the challenge this game offers was truly addicting for me. Every time I got the the End of a Boss for the first time my hard started going like crazy and I just got extremely nervous. But then when you defeat the boss you died countless of attempts to you just feel this amazing relief and pure happiness. I have beaten many games and I have this feeling less and less and From Software games are able to give me this experience is just amazing. I also understand when people complain about having to run the boss fight all over again. But in my opinion its completely fine because you can skip most enemies easily.
    Another great thing about this game is the opportunity to mod the game. When I am doing a walktrough of Dark Souls I am playing with the Item Randomizer Mod. I also am not a very technical person but i could do it easily.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First time playing the first Dark Souls and it was great. The level design here compared to DS3 is harder and more complex and in more ways than one it is better. I have heard tales of the infamous Sen's Fortress and loved playing through it to get to the boss despite the annoying deaths. I have also heard the tales of the beauty of Anor Londo, and seeing it was glorious. The city basked in what seemed like an eternal sunset and with the slick architecture made the large city feel even grander. And perhaps the most important tale is that of the Firelink Shrine music, hearing it whenever you find shortcuts or go from X to Y and you find that a path leads back the shrine is wonderful.
    However, there are some garbage places too, like Demon Ruins with its stretched-out design filled with reskins of enemies and boring bosses. I also disliked Tomb of Giants, for the gimmick of not being able to see anything until you get the lantern. Despite being smaller than most areas, the idea of using the lantern to see and changing your playstyle is interesting, but it was more annoying and boring than fun.

    On the note of bosses, you either get really easy and simple design-wise and overall quite trash, like Stray Demon, Bed of Chaos to name a few. Or you get absolute bangers of bosses, Like Gwyn, Artorias and Manus, that are challenging but extremely fun to play against. Basically the highs of the bosses and areas are really high, but the lows of them are quite low indeed.

    The graphics were expected but I didn't have too much of a problem with them. The music and sound quality were fantastic though, beautiful and haunting. The game had an Intriguing story with a mysterious set of characters and the basis for many loved ones. Reading other reviews suggest that as a remaster, this didn't hit the mark, but I can't review it over the same basis. Albeit, I confidently say that as my first experience of the Dark Souls, it certainly was phenomenal.    … Expand

    Una obra maestra en mi opinion, excelente jugabilidad, historia intrigante, un mundo oscuro y profundo, combates contra jefes monstruosos e inolvidables. Como juego es excelente, pero pudieron aprovechar para hacer un poco más de contenido.
    Y una cosa más: NO ES TAN DIFICIL, solo requiere un poco de tiempo y esfuerzo.

    Rather than a remaster, it's a port. It will entertain mainly rock fans who want to have a complete collection on a new console or complete Souls novices. [Issue#287]

    Dark Souls Remastered doesn't make any dramatic changes to its original release several years ago. The struggle to progress is constant, but just as every moment could be another death, it could also be a moment of great triumph and self-accomplishment. Playing at 60fps makes me wonder how I ever managed to play at half of that rate several years ago. It's a beautiful remaster, even if it isn't a complete overhaul. It's a great entry for newcomers or a great walk down memory lane for fans of its original release.

    Dark Souls Remastered has aged well, despite the progress of its successors. Newcomers might fight it abrasive, but it is still worth a pickup for old fans and new alike. Here’s to a release of Demon’s Souls Remastered.
