You people need to stop writing bad reviews out of anger lol.

The problem here being that, this game is not for previous gen hardware. The games does play awful on a ps4 , xbox one and old pcs. BUT, if you have a ps5 or xbox one x, or high end PC. Then the game plays absolutely as it should. The game itself is one of the best games ever made. Ya'll need to stop review

Here's a balanced review for you.

Obviously there are bugs and performance issues, those have been covered plenty already. What I want to talk about is whether the game underneath all the jank is a diamond in the rough, or a pig with lipstick. One thing is for sure, when it works, the game is super immersive. A dense, multi-layered skyline, talk shows about current events in the city

Obviously there are bugs and performance issues, those have been covered plenty already. What I want to talk about is whether the game underneath all the jank is a diamond in the rough, or a pig with lipstick.

One thing is for sure, when it works, the game is super immersive. A dense, multi-layered skyline, talk shows about current events in the city that play while you're in elevators, etc etc - it CAN be a very believable cyberpunk world - on the surface.

I'm not really deep into the game enough to comment on the sum-total of the story across the sidequests etc, but the ones I've experienced have so far been very skin-deep - although again, without a 2nd playthrough it's hard to know effect, if any, my choices had on things. For me that's a big problem, as it removes a feeling of agency from me unless I play a huge, often frustratingly slow game for a 2nd time, which I shouldn't have to. What I will say however is that the actual dialogue itself is well written, and surprisingly humane - overall the characters are more hopeful - or at least stoic - than I expected, which adds a nice contrast to all the brutality.

The action is also a big let down. Again, people have talked about why. The issue for me is that both the AI is awful and melee is so OP that, even though there's a super dense set of skill trees for various guns and grenades, you can get by on Normal difficulty but just running around punching people to death.

Same goes for the hacking. It's just a fancy UI with a needlessly complicated skill-tree for what is essentially some very simple debuffs to enemies and a 'distraction' mechanic for poorly designed and janky stealth. All these systems - and no need to really think or interact with any of them.

That kinda sums it all up for me. A needlessly huge environment, a super deep but pointless and bland set of systems, and some sidequests that range from pointless to 'very cool' but no way of knowing if you're more or less completely on rails for them.

All in all, a huge step back in game design compared to the Witcher - and about the other complains you can read the 0/10s....

I’m just disappointed to see all the issues on PS4 version. When you delay the game several times, this low quality is just unacceptable. I wish I didn’t buy the PS4 version.

Update: After downloading the latest patch the game has many issues. What a joke!

Here’s my biggest issue...deliberately hiding PS4 gameplay footage before release. Because of this reason I’m getting a refund. This should have been a swan song for the PS4. This should have been released on next gen consoles and PC only. QC was appallingly. Disappointed in CDPR now. Corporate greed...

It's a bit buggy and glitchy nothing game breaking the story is great the side missions are great too. There are lot's of things to do in the game and very enjoyable. (Turn off the grain effect in the options and the grapics become enjoyable too) 5days and i guess 3 or 4 crashes msx. It's worth the price

I'm playing this game on my PS5. So far I am 7 hours in the game. I had to deal with 3 crashes and some minor bugs (like my car floating in the air for example). The story is good and refreshing. And the side-missions are little stories on their own and never get boring. Voice-acting is spot on. People are complaining it's missing the freedom of GTA-games. It isn't GTA, people, and it doesn't pretend to be. It is an open world but from a whole other perspective. I enjoy this game and I will keep on enjoying it for another few months. I hope the problems on the PS4 are fixed very soon so everyone will be able to enjoy this game as it is a game you really need to experience. Due to the bugs and crashes I have to give it a 7 now. But there is a potential 9 or 10 here. Expand

I used to read about nightmare vacations, where the artist-impression hotel in the brochure looked amazing, yet when the holiday-makers arrived, the place hadn't been built yet.

It’s no exaggeration to say that CDPR has deceived all of its loyal PS4 and Xbox One users who put their trust in the company and pre-ordered what they were lead to believe would be a fantastic game. It’s a disgrace and CDPR should be ashamed of itself.

There are a number of gamers defending the title by telling owners of the base PS4 and Xbox One consoles to upgrade to a next gen console. This is an indefensible argument. Firstly, the PS5 is unavailable everywhere in the UK at the time of writing. Secondly, the game was in development for a PS4 release long before the PS5’s launch was even announced.

I am currently pursuing a refund via the PIaystation Store. I am not holding out much hope, but I will never again pre-order a game or trust and support CDPR. In the meantime, I may go back and replay 2016's Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: A futuristic dystopian world featuring multiple path choices, tons of character upgrades...sound familiar?

I tried to play this game but it is so broken that I got motion sickness from the awful rendering and in game wobble. Literally objects and walls shift vertically as you look around, inducing nausea. This has never happened to me outside of VR and I cannot believe it was certified by Sony PSN in this state. Currently fighting for a refund.

Don't play this game on PS4, wait for the real PS5 version and major patches to come. I'm pretty sure this game will never get optimized for PS4(Pro) properly because that would take at least 0,5 years of additional development and that will never happen. Expand

Usually I'm not the kind of person to rate something a 0, but in this case I sadly have to. And I'll try to explain in the most sincere manner possible. Cyberpunk 2077 is by no means a bad game. The customization and the variety in general is extremely impressiveUsually I'm not the kind of person to rate something a 0, but in this case I sadly have to. I think I speak on behalf of many people when I say Night City is beautiful. The customization and the variety in general is extremely impressive and this game could have been a masterpiece. But there's obviously a catch. The game is basically unplayable on consoles. Even with the new patch 1.04, there are several glitches, bugs and crashes. The resolution is very low and just looks blurry, even on PS4 Pro. It's mostly 720p on base PS4 with very unstable 30fps. As a computer science student, who also wants to pursue a career in the gaming industry, it hurts to see such an unoptimized game. I know that the gaming industry has a big problem with crunch hours, leading developers to have burnouts etc. This needs to stop. This game was teased before the PS4 was even out and it's extremely disrespectful to scam customers like this. It was clearly targeted for PC first, which isn't a problem, but thinking gamers will be content with the console version, is just selfish. And I can't support those conditions. As long as the game runs like I'm playing on a potato, I won't recommend giving this game a high score, otherwise they won't learn from this. At this state, do not buy this game! I'm so sad for the players around the world who were looking forward to playing this amazing game, but instead they were the ones, who got played instead. The industry needs to change, so this won't be repeated again. I hope people can prove me wrong in the future. Expand

I launched Cyberpunk 2077 on my PS4 Slim several weeks after the release and most of the bugs were fixed, so I was able to play the game from start to finish. However, the quality of textures was painfully low, I usually had only 20-22 frames per second while driving around the city (with dips below 20), and some objects tended to disappear. The technical state and graphics of the PS4 version are awful, which is a shame, because the game itself has one of the best stories I have ever encountered, its gunplay is really good, and Night City is very impressive. Cyberpunk 2077 is a game brimming with potential, and it damn near reaches it on so many occasions, but the pitfalls of its development ultimately drag it down. There's still a lot to like here for RPG fans and lovers of the genre, but it's far from the generation-defining masterwork that the world was waiting for.
