When I started playing this game (with the updates) I felt this game deserved a 5. Now I think this game deserves a 6 or maybe even a 7. I like RPGs but I couldn't engange with the atmosphere and characters of this game. Let's talk about the bad things: it crushed 3 times even with the patch (2 times while uploading and 1 by himself when it was uploading a mission and got frozen). I don't like to listen Spanish in every frase, also, I don't like that they put voices in Spanish from South America in the Spanish version and I don't like that if you play the game in Spanish, the diaglogue is in Spanish from South America for all the characters, it just don't fit. Keanu Reeves in the game is a plus, that's for sure, and I think I started to enjoy a bit the game when he appered. I played for more than 14 hours sticking to the main story. To sum up: this is not a must have game. You can give it a try if you enjoy shooting, like to hear Spanish on and off and want to see Keanu Reeves in a game. Expand

I have just finished my second playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077, my first playthrough was on PC at release, and my most recent playthrough on PS5.

Replaying this game on console, in performance mode on my TV felt a bit more immersive however there were some issues straight out of the gate as I couldn't seem to configure my controls to feel snappy and responsive, I also experience frequent crashes, none of these entirely ruined the experience as save points weren't too bad, but it's still quite jarring and frustrating, this shouldn't be happening so many years after release.

As for the game itself, CDPR clearly poured countless hours into creating the world but didn't populate it with enough side-content. There are some great side missions, but the vast majority of them are just boring cut and paste (go here, kill/steal that, leave),

Vehicle handling is frustrating, taking some corners feels like you're driving on ice with how dramatically the car spins out, and there isn't a lot of variety to the vehicles themselves. Most are terrible, once I picked up the Caliban? I didn't need to bother with any other car.

The main story is decent, the voice acting is solid and overall presentation is great. I enjoyed the gunplay and hacking mechanisms, I also enjoyed the fact I didn't have to mess around with stealth, if things go loud you don't fail the mission and run through it guns blazing if you choose.

The item upgrade system is fundamentally flawed, I was at level 47 when I finished the game and did as much side content as I could stomach but I still couldn't fully upgrade my items. If you pick up an EPIC gun early on and upgrade it, it can end up more powerful than if you pick up a legendary later.

Overall I enjoyed my second time around in this game, I expect the new DLC and rebalances will be good, the game is rough around the edges but in no way deserving of the nonsense 0/10 scores below, nor the ridiculous 10/10 scores.

I waited a looong time to play Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4.
Yes, it's a bit glitchy still... most likely when you arrive at a destination too quickly.
Simply chill out a few moments, everything loads, then you're good-to-go. The game notwithstanding is great! (easily a 9 without the glitches n' problems). So many choices, so many paths to take. Great immersion. Great story. Loved V (male),

The decision to change third person perspective to first person is a very bad one, i hope CDPR patches in a third person experience as the game was clearly built with that in mind and it suffers from the transition.
The game crashed twice but thankfully auto-save is frequent.
I had some fun playing the game but i never felt like "i have to drop whatever i am doing to go play me some cyberpunk", i kinda had to remind myself that i play this game. The ending i got was infuriating to the point that i don't feel like returning to this world for a long... long time.

Completely broken on old gen consoles. It IS fun, but should have only been put on PC initially.

Other than that, CDPR's decisions as to rushing the game out when promising it would release "when it's ready" was a humiliating disaster, AND their propagandist Russophobic policy has irreparably damaged the reputation of this development studio.

I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of coursed influenced by my personal opinions.

(5)Flawed. It may be obvious that the game has lots of potential, but it’s most engaging features could be undeniably flawed or not integrated into the experience.

To start off I didn’t buy in the marketing that Cyberpunk is going to be bringing the genre to a new level. I loved how CD Project did on The Witcher 3 but I knew they were going to be out of there element. There was a bunch of bugs at lunch but I didn’t experience anything that made it unplayable or that would make me restart and lose a bunch of progress. Everything that I experienced was things like cars falling from the sky and things loading in way too slow/last minute. I was disappointed there were bugs but I still was able to experience the campaign without being annoyed by the bugs. I thought the campaign was good but too short and didn’t expand on the world. Unlike the Witcher 3 this game story didn’t want you to stick around and experience the little things. I was also disappointed in the graphics. Overall, it's not as bad as people say but still has it's issues.

Also, the narrative in this game feels so immature like teenagers wrote it. The choices you make have no real different outcome and graphics look good when you're just standing there taking in the views.

Overall, if you're looking for a game to spend hours in doing pointless quest with a few moments of excitement then I would recommend getting this game on sale. I can't see this game running well on the base PS4 since it was struggling to run on the PS4 Pro. Really disappointing considering the previous works the development team has worked on before.

Graphics: A bit of a mixed bag with pop-in aplenty, glitches everywhere and models falling through each other all the time. Then I see the city from the desert at sunset and my breath is stolen. When done correctly, the game is beautiful, truly breathtaking but it is let down by the engine.
Gameplay: Here is the issue, the gameplay at its core is great with good loot and crafting, solid combat and fun missions. Problem is, the glitches. I have missions that don't close, people who won't give rewards, waypoints failing to populate and retries as enemies disappear into scenery making them inaccessible.

I love a lot of the characters and side stories, as well as the interesting things hidden off the beaten path. I only wish that there was more of it. The world is largely empty and shallow in spite of the freedom of movement. This is the least interactive RPG that I have played in years, and many elements are merely fluff and flash. I had 41 crashes the first week, and haven't bothered counting them since... The bugs--oh, man--the bugs... Recent patches have made small improvements, but the fundamental flaws have yet to be touched. Hopefully, we'll see a completed version of CDPR's premature baby at some point, but for now, I'd avoid it like an Anthrax wetnap. This is fairly easy on Playstation if you're late to the party, because Sony removed the digital version until further notice. Still: If you're something of a masochist--or possess a tremendous amount of patience, then there is quite a bit of fun to be had in Night City and The Badlands. Just keep your expectations low.

2021 edit: The game is now mostly stable on a PS4 Pro, but still suffers from low visual fidelity, major hiccups, and technical problems. The most common bugs have been addressed, pointless DLC has been released (free jackets,) and the mediocrity has never been more obvious. I mention that because as a title that launched in a state just as bad as, if not worse than, Fallout 76 did, here is where it was said to have had the worst performance. Things have certainly come a long way. There are still bugs and glitches, but Cyberpunk has at least reached a point on the console where it is entirely playable. So while that does not make up for all the scummy things that went on behind the scenes, it does mean I have finally been able to experience the content it offers and can review the actual game itself, rather than just remarking on its technical shortcomings and CD Projekt RED's lies. A game that, while still good, is nowhere near what we were promised it was going to be.

Night City is a massive place filled with enough side-quests and odd jobs to keep you busy for hundreds of hours. Almost all of which have a level of writing comparable to that of GTA V's. The world itself is diverse, teeming with life, and is one of the best I've experienced in all my years of gaming. I often found myself forsaking driving and walking to my objectives just to take in the sights.

Unfortunately, your interactions with it are painfully limited narrative-wise. It's a good story. One filled with incredibly well-written and acted characters I grew to genuinely care about. It's just not even remotely as open-ended as they told us it was going to be. The main plot thread is very linear with each quest largely playing out the exact same way every time right up until you choose an ending. It makes multiple playthroughs kind of boring as you've basically seen everything it has to offer the first time around save for the actual different endings themselves. Yeah, you can pick another background for your avatar, but outside of the occasional dialog option this only affects which prologue you'll receive and has no real impact on the rest of the experience. Compare this to CD's earlier work The Witcher 2 where a choice you make relatively early on can take you to two entirely different areas complete with their own content and you have a noticeable and significant step back for the developer.

There are some other, more minor aspects of the game that aren't up to par as well. Like the character creation system that favors superfluous feeling cosmetic decorations over rather basic means of crafting facial structure. Did we really need the ability to select genital size in lieu of being able to shape foreheads? I think not. The shooting and driving controls are also loose, which led to a lot of tinkering in the menus before they became useable for me.

Forever marred by the dishonest and even illegal business practices of its creators and (at times VERY) rough around the edges, Cyberpunk 2077 is still worth playing for the things it does brilliantly and the myriad number of ways you can use technology to transform your body into the ultimate killing machine. In a lot of ways it was the futuristic gangster life simulator I never knew I wanted. Yet, this is far from the genre redefining RPG it was marketed as and lags behind its peers in some embarrassing ways given the talent putting it out. So when all is said and done this is merely a "good" game when it should have been the next big thing.

Overall, it's an average open world game after multiple playthroughs. The world is unconvincing and the majority of side content is bland and uninspired.

Hacking, what was thought to be a key part of the game was boiled down to quickhacking. A feature which is severely lacking in depth.

Despite that, the story still is pretty decent. With intriguing characters but poorly paced missions.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. On launch, this game was borderline unplayable on PS4. However, I'm reviewing this about eight months after release, and the updates that have been pushed out in that time have done wonders. There are still some performance issues (framerate stutters when driving at high speeds is mostly what I've noticed) and annoying bugs (objectives not triggering, HUD glitches, and other things that generally require reloading a save), but there's a solid game underneath those problems.

Where Cyberpunk really shines is in its writing. The characters are great, and I very rarely go through a conversation without milking as much dialogue out of the NPCs as possible. Both the main storyline and many of the side quests have interesting premises that are well-executed--I particularly enjoyed one line of side quests which revolved around a condemned man choosing to die by crucifixion for the purpose of it being turned into a braindance and your participation in making it happen. Unfortunately, the gameplay is very okay. Gunplay is relatively standard, most progression feels pretty meaningless, and the hacking/netrunning mechanics are just un-fun.

All in all, I have enjoyed (and am enjoying! it's a big game) my time with Cyberpunk, but it's still hard to reconcile what the game actually is with what it could have been given the hype.

Clearly, CD Projekt Red screwed up and should not have released the game in the state it is in right now. They also went out of their way to hide it, which compounds the problem. It’s very disappointing for a developer that has stood head and shoulders above all the other titans in the industry.

And just as clearly, there are trolls review bombing the game out of frustration or because they never wanted the game to succeed in the first place. Unless they received advanced copies, there is no way they have experienced much of the game. People love kicking a dog when it’s down but, frankly, CD Projeckt Red deserves the criticism.

Night City is a massive, sprawling, and densely packed world to explore. I’ve played about 12 hours and haven’t even met the Fixer from the trailer, as I got sidetracked with random quests and hunting bounties. There is just so much to do and discover, and what I have seen so far has been lovingly crafted. The skills, perks, cyberware, and gear system also have a lot to offer as to be expected of an RPG. I was also pleasantly surprised that the gun and melee mechanics were better than the trailers left me feeling.

But there are serious issues to address. I’ve never played a console game this buggy. My game has hard crashed four times. After the first couple of times, I took to manually saving about every 10 minutes on 10 separate files in anticipation of file corruption. I’ve also had environmental glitches and dialogue issues. These have all been fixed by reloading a save file, but I didn’t know to do that initially. I also “turned down” the graphics by disabling some features like lens flare in the hopes of avoiding more issues.

So, my score is based on the awesome potential for game. As bad as they are, all of the major issues can actually be fixed in my opinion. Of course, the damage is already done and it’s a real shame. If you are interested, I recommend waiting to play this game once it’s had a proper patch or two.

So don't be fooled by the hate. The game is very much playable.
During the game I was charmed by the atmosphere and writing of the game. It is one of the best storytelling you will see in a game. Dialogues and characters are written perfectly. Every relation with NPCs in a game feels almost real. They are not just quest givers but after series of events they are becoming your friends.
The main plot may be not original but it is masterfully told with plenty of tension, relations, twists and atmosphere. All the side missions are worth doing and each arc has some unique flavor (detective work, nomadic families, houses of pleasure, braindances, netrunners).
When it comes to gameplay, I would say that, Cyberpunk 2077 is a great story, but at most decent game. Sometimes it feels like the developers fell in love with story so much that they forgot that the player should be in control. There are whole sections where it doesn't matter what you do or what dialogue option you choose. Moreover I was surprised that I didn't wanto to level up. The leveling system is so complicated and yet meaningless that I was never looking forward to gain a level. Same with random tasks in the open world - I didn't care about them. In theory each of them had some story behind them, but it was told only through a note or call log and got repetitive after a while.
But even with all these flaws I spent more than 100 hours in the game and didn't feel tired of it until the end quest. I can recommend Cyberpunk. I think that the hype did caused a lot of harm to the game. The expectation were too high.

Rather than being 'genre defining' or 'next-gen', Cyberpunk is another half finished game with a half-cooked storyline and poor dialogue. The game never really gets going, its more like the senior developers threw a bunch of ideas into a first draft and put it out there. The game is enjoyable at times, but like a lot of recent games, there is far too much following behind a NPC and pressing square to advance the narrative. There are no real choices, you just follow along and go where you're told. The main story just ends suddenly, with no emotional investment or conclusion. I did like the 80s, sci-fi feel to the game.

I think a sequel which was something closer to Bladerunner, where you play as a cop would be interesting, if CDPR got a decent team in and allowed the player more freedom.

Unfortunately, the constant bugs and crashes, even on next gen hardware detail this experience. Would recommend playing this on either pc or waiting until a true next gen version later in 2021.

I cannot in good conscience support CDPR's behavior, even if there are good merits within the game. Simple fact is, look at the trailers and look at the finished product; they lied to us, and then they proceeded to sell us a broken, buggy mess.

Still though, there's a good experience in there... somewhere.

As someone who platinumed the game in 105 hours (would've been 90 if not for having to redo things due to crashes and glitches that required a new game). While this is unquestionably the buggiest game I ever played (plagued with so many game breaking and immersion ruining bugs), the underlying game is still not very satisfying.

    Story:
The first act of the game is jarring because life paths don't work. No matter the choice, corpo, nomad, and streetkid will have you get a 3 minute cutscene and time jump that gets you to the same story within 20 minutes of gameplay, which was probably a whole act that was cut. The only differences due to life paths are some minor expositionary dialogue that have no effect on any thing and can be skipped.

The story itself is a good cyberpunk story, but there is no emotional connection to any character because of the time jump and you are left wondering "who even is that guy/girl?" and when major things happen to characters and are intended to leave you with emotions but end up being either unintentionally funny or shallow.

The second act creates a sense of urgency that breaks immersion in the side content because the main jobs should canonically be of utmost priority. This is one of the biggest problems of witcher 3 and they made it worse somehow.

The third act of the game is basically one long mission, and the only one where choices matter (so much for an RPG, but they stopped marketing it as such a few months back anyway so no surprise). You can literally do all the endings in 4 hours if you make the right save. Same thing for side jobs. There are probably 1 or 2 jobs that affect other ones in a major way, and none that affect the overall narrative. Keanu (Johnny) is decent but some of the lines fall flat. The plot also revolves around him in a big way, and I can't help but feel like once they got him on board for DLC or something they redid the whole game to capitalize on his popularity. Shame. The story is really short though. 13 hours ish if you ignore everything else (which is fine since it has little to no bearing on the main quests outcome except for one ending).

The gameplay is varied and you have a decent customization option sets but it's broken in that it gets ridiculously easy even on the hardest difficulty if you do certain things.

Side content is overall fun (side jobs) but the 'gigs' are just copy pasted fetch/kill/rescue stuff you can farm xp and stuff. Disappointing.

The game will never be patched to quality. You can remove the bugs (and try) but the underlying game is nothing to be proud about.

Unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077 has many deeper flaws that can't be addressed simply by optimizing the current game.

In many ways, the term "futuristic GTA" is an apt description. Yet even a game from two decades ago such as Grand Theft Auto III has more of a persistent game world than the shockingly hollow Cyberpunk 2077 we received. There are no true long or short-term consequences to any action a player takes. Police, for example, forget about crimes just as quickly as they witness them. Meanwhile, Night City's various gangs and corporations have a neutral disposition toward V no matter how many of their numbers the player incapacitates or kills.

Elements of this could possibly be explained away in the story (such as Victor's comment about Kiroshi optics), but the problem largely remains: In a dystopian world full of endless surveillance, it can feel deeply immersion-breaking when, outside of scripted story events, the player character is always viewed as a completely meaningless and neutral entity. And, again, these are deeper issues that can't be addressed with simple performance updates. It's ultimately ironic that so much focus was placed on a first-person perspective as a means of player immersion, yet the gameplay systems that should have supported this experience are underdeveloped if not completely forgotten.

The game is far less engaging when I have to play cautiously for fear of it crashing.

I could not care less how old the hardware is. If you sell it on console, it must be playable on console. I haven't crashed yet on the 1.1 patch, but the framerate issues and glitches are just as present as before. This was said to be the first major fix, and it feels just as insignificant as small as the previous ones. I can commend the efforts to fix the game, and can even accept that the process may potentially take an entire year, but the continuing lack of honesty is baffling. My experience has been better than others, but I'm still deeply disappointed with the mess. I'm left with a gamble on whether to continue playing with what's there, or wait and hope that sometime later the game will actually improve.

Glitches can be expected with any release, but CD Projekt Red willingly deceived players into what's essentially an early access game/ beta. I'm pretty sure that I would adore this game in a finished state, I definitely enjoyed the less intensive story missions that run just fine, but a release this terrible has soured my opinion on this company. I'm sticking around to see this one through (mostly because Best Buy wouldn't reimburse my birthday coupon if I refunded), but I'll be skipping out on any future projects from this studio, at least not until they've been properly reviewed and tested by others.

I've played a lot games in my day and this is one of the most creative and innovative stories I've ever seen. I wish the romances were a little meatier; they consist of 1) do a few missions for that character 2) flirt 3) have sex 4) basically never talk again until the final mission. A lot of promises that weren't kept and shady marketing practices hurt my final score as well. CD Project Red can do better and releasing the game in its current state is simply unacceptable. Okay

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While I admit the game does have issues and needs to be fixed, as someone who has played 25 hours of this game on the ps4 I absolutely love it.

Yea there is issues but those aside I love the Story, the Characters, the FPS and the side quests, I love night city and just how gorgeous it looks especially at night. I love the customization of the main character and able to full change anything about your character like adding new eyes for different skills or new arms. The crafting is pretty basic but I enjoy it and the skill tree again is basic but I like it.

Only reason it gets a 3/5 is because the game does need to be fixed, also the world isn't as interactive as I would have liked. Yeah theres buying cars but theres no "games" in the world. Nothing like Gwent that's for sure. In a game like this you except to have some side activities like pool, bowling, fishing, whatever so its not just a matter of jumping from mission to mission. I sort of expect CDPR to put that in the Free DLC coming but that should have been apart of the game overall, not an added feature.

Overall I do like the game and it runs fairly good on my ps4 but even I admit the game needs to be patched

On paper, it's the perfect game for me, combining different elements from a few of my favorites. It has an amazing open world that is on par with the likes of GTA V and RDR2, as well as the in-depth skill trees and intensive character creation similar to Skyrim. But there are just too many flaws in this game that prevent it from earning that 10/10 score. Lets start with the bad stuff and get that out of the way.

The bugs and crashes are the biggest thing. I think we all know this by now. Granted, I did get to play this on PS5, so I didn't notice too many bugs and the performance was a lot better than some of the videos I've seen on social media (I haven't seen a single T-pose in 75+ hours). However, the game probably crashed on me about once per hour on average, which is absolutely ridiculous.

The graphics were another low point for me. They were just pretty good, and in 2021, pretty good = terrible. I was hoping for much better graphics and AI for a PS5 title, but it just felt like an old generation game, and when I say old generation, I mean PS3, not PS4. When I started, I had just finished Spider-Man: Miles Morales, in which the graphics were absolutely amazing. So for this to be such a step-down was that much more disappointing.

Ok enough complaining, lets talk about some of the things I liked (loved).

The setting and scope of this game are unreal. I know I just got done trashing the graphics, but some of the sights in Night City were in fact breathtaking. The design of the city and its aesthetic are some of the best I've seen in any video game ever. It's sometimes nice to just stop and listen to the sounds of city, it's definitely when the game feels most immersive. Credit to CD Projekt Red, the vision they had for this game was incredibly ambitious, and in a lot of ways, it paid off.

Next, the gameplay. I had a lot fun taking the "hacker" role and building my character's skills and attributes around that. Cyberpunk gives you a lot of freedom as to how to approach each mission, so I found endless ways to hack into enemy cameras, cyberware, and even their minds in order to defeat them. No matter which play-style you choose, there are more than enough obtainable skills and mods to enhance your character as you continue through the story, and with the completion of enough side missions, it's very possible to be an absolutely unstoppable super-soldier by the time you reach the final mission.

Lastly, I'd like to give some praise to the story that is told in Cyberpunk 2077. The main plot is engaging throughout, and it is very evident that the decisions you make affect the narrative (so quicksave often!). Many of the side missions hold their own agency within the story as well, so be careful who you befriend and who you don't! Overall, it tells an effective and enjoyable story that certainly holds its own against other games.

All in all, at times I love this game and at times I hate it. I will say that even though I've finished the story and i'm 75+ hours in, I am not done playing by any means. I still have A LOT of stuff to do in Night City, and I'm looking forward to it!

    Overall Score: 7.3/10

I launched Cyberpunk 2077 on my PS4 Slim several weeks after the release and most of the bugs were fixed, so I was able to play the game from start to finish. However, the quality of textures was painfully low, I usually had only 20-22 frames per second while driving around the city (with dips below 20), and some objects tended to disappear. The technical state and graphics of the PS4 version are awful, which is a shame, because the game itself has one of the best stories I have ever encountered, its gunplay is really good, and Night City is very impressive. Cyberpunk 2077 is a game brimming with potential, and it damn near reaches it on so many occasions, but the pitfalls of its development ultimately drag it down. There's still a lot to like here for RPG fans and lovers of the genre, but it's far from the generation-defining masterwork that the world was waiting for.
