In the beginning it looked like it would be good, but in the end I realized I was wrong. An unnecessary story, with nothing new or anything to add. Don’t even bother with The Foundation DLC, what a waste of time unless you’re trying to get Platinum and need a few more missions to get the skill points. At the end of the whole DLC, you’ll be asking what was the point? And guess what, there wasn’t one, nothing gets accomplished, you feel even more cheated out of possible story. It acts like it’s supposed to explain who the Board and Former are but never does. And then tries to hint at a sequel! Oh please god no!

What was weird with The Foundation was it truly felt like they called the voice actors in a few months later and didn’t give any direction. Jesse now sounds totally fake peppy and is trying to crack the weirdest jokes, not to mention the horrid objective exposition spew she does after you receive a mission. Jesse is so cringey in this DLC, constantly saying things like “I’m the Director.” or “I’m going to change how the Bureau runs.” What? First she doesn’t know how the Bureau runs to begin with, how can she make it better? And she also went from I’m better at being a janitor to of course I’m in charge? What? It was so unnatural and I really disliked her in this DLC.

Gameplay, it’s still the same game except instead of endless office corridors you get endless cave corridors! Do not bother with this DLC, it has even less story wrap up than the actual game.

I enjoyed a lot of my time with The Foundation, but I'm left wondering how much of a lasting impact it'll have on the Control universe as a whole. It felt more like an entertaining distraction than a large step forward, but I had no problem eating up all the lore, info and strange encounters I could find. If you're a fan of the game and thought it was one of the best games of 2019, you'll see that poking around in the underbelly of the Oldest House is well worth the time.

The first DLC of control adds more value to the package by adding new gameplay mechanics and telling a different aspect of Oldest House story.

If you found yourself turning over every stone in Control, The Foundation DLC will reward you with answers and new questions alike.
