    Control: AWE sold me Remedy when Alan Wake was shown in the trailer. And although the DLC reveals its story little, it almost does not affect the main plot of Control in any way, it gives pleasant feelings of the relationship of 2 episodes of the combined common story. Control: AWE was created to heat interest, before the release of Alan Wake 2, you should not expect something unique from it. This is perhaps the most personal DLC I have seen, which is focused on a narrow circle of players - fans of Remedy and Alan Wake. For players not familiar with the original DLC, I would not recommend. Expand

    I came in with the wrong expectation for this dlc. I thought the alan wake expansion was one they would focus on more but the previous dlc (the foundation) was much better and varied, especially with the new mechanics.
    In saying that this was enjoyable and was quite creative in the way it used existing mechanics to suit the alan wake universe. I thought the cross-over would be more

    In saying that this was enjoyable and was quite creative in the way it used existing mechanics to suit the alan wake universe. I thought the cross-over would be more defined. It was ok but I think many remedy fans were expecting this one to be the dlc to look forward to. It was short but that is not necessarily bad. I just wish they had gone harder with the alan wake integration as I really have enjoyed all of Remedy's games (even Quantum Break I would give an 8).
    I would give the main game Control a 9, Foundation dlc a 7.5 and AWE dlc a 6 but I still liked it.

    I played this DLC first (leaving the Foundation for the endgame) and it seems a better way to experience the game

    Pros: * I really enjoyed smaller side missions in this one. I'm a completionist myself, and the progression felt great here. In the main game you mostly follow the story not completing the missions per se. * It has a more puzzle-oriented design. So AWE has some HL2 vibes

    * It has a more puzzle-oriented design. So AWE has some HL2 vibes with gravity gun puzzles. It was an interesting change of pace.
    * I watched Alan Wake recap before playing this. So the story connections were alright for me. Nothing ground breaking though.
    * Langston's babbling is great.
    * Psychedelic movies with Wake are great. Feels like a continuation of loading screens of the main game.

    Cons:
    * It's not scary if you're into this kind of stuff. I wasn't looking for scary so I was fine.
    * I can see how it can be disappointing as a closing chapter. So again would recommend to play it first.
    * Alan Wake videos are pixelated and feel like a downgrade after Trench ones. Also, the game has few bugs again. Like Langston restarting his long speech. Manageable though.

    Обычное и проходное дополнение. Программа минимум - отработана. Геймплей с боссами - бесил.

    The game is just disappointing. The biggest reason for that is, gameplay elements does not change that much. It is the same, actually "boring" game. Since the story is the biggest promise, it does let down. Strongly commend that you wait for a deal.

    Substantial, and makes us excited to see what’s next in Remedy’s Connected Universe. Our only question is ‘Alan Wake remaster when?’ [Issue#180, p.81]

    The AWE expansion is a fantastic addition to the Control base game. Everything about it is just that shade better than the original content. It delivers a horror experience that is a step above, a new weapon that offers something really unique, and a final showdown that is bigger and badder than anything you've done in this game yet. It's a few more hours of a good game, that this time around takes a slight step forward to be even better.

    So do you like Control? This is more of that, and gameplay is as strong as its ever been. Do you like Alan Wake? This is a fantastic continuation of the story, so exciting that I am sincerely tempted to go back and give the original a try. Beyond its two parts though, Control: AWE takes concepts from the previous chapters of the story and heightens them in every way. This is the best-written chapter of Control yet, and one that has me frantically searching wikis to figure out where the story is going next. Now just give me a team-up between Jesse Faden, Alan Wake, and Max Payne and I will be the happiest gamer alive.
