I'm halfway through the game and haven't had any trouble with the cursor. For my actual review... I've had a lot of fun with the game so far. It's an interesting blend of the gameplay from the first and simple strategy/4x/empire building. Managing your resources, units, spells, and ammo is all pretty satisfying and adds to the game in my opinion. And the core gameplay is still very fun.
However, there are some things that don't really feel fleshed out with the 4x element. For example, you can recruit multiple "heroes" that each have their own armies you can use for battles, but I never saw the use in actually using these other heroes. As units will level up as you use them, the units of the other heroes you recruit will be underleveled compared to your main hero unless you go way out of your way to constantly use them. The game is significantly easier if you just use your main hero for everything. A similar problem arises with castles, you can improve and add units to them for if they ever get attacked... But for at least the first half of the game they never really did get attacked (twice total so far for me), and unless you transfer your main army's units to the castle the ones there will be way too weak to resist any attacks as they don't get the chance to level up. My last complaint is that because it's ultimately story driven, the world is basically unchanging except through your actions, which makes the 4x element feel pretty pointless. Sure the world starts with some enemy camps that can occasionally spawn enemies that will actively attack you or destroy your castles. But there is no overall enemy faction you need to be strategic about keeping in check. The story and any enemies it entails will stand still for you for however many turns you want until you actively go to the requisite hex.
Still, these elements that aren't fleshed out don't really take away from the game as they can just be ignored, and with the core gameplay and some of the new mechanics being really fun, it's still a great game.… Expand
