This game has an amazing campaign that is fun, well-acted, and well-written. The variety of weapons you have is good as well. I know you are saying I should just adapt but I have tried and it just is not fun. There are 15 different windows on each map that you can’t even check before you get your head blown off. “grey morale” KEKW Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but the campaign killed it for me. You can say, "It's just a game!". True, but there will be some dumb asses who will be thinking it's all the truth. That is disappointing for me, and a company like Activision shouldn't make plots like that one.

I have mixed feelings for this years cod.

This is by far the best part of the game. People are here commenting saying the game is "propaganda". Whilst this may be true, the game mentions that "not everyone is a hero", implying that americans aren't either. If this game was released in 2008 it would be the game of the decade, just like how COD 4 was. COD 4 WAS EXACTLY THE SAME; the reason why people are getting offended is because it's visualized in such a gruesome manor. I don't believe that the Russians are bad people, it's the cult who are. As well as Americans or any other international organization, everyone is bad in each others own perspective so i don't get why people are rating this a "0" or a "1". Other than that, the level design in each mission is amazing. Some missions really make you think what's best to do, flash bangs and tactical are actually meaningful now because if you run too far forward you'll get killed which i like. If you think for yourself, and know that the story is fictional, then you will have a good time too.

Spec ops is shy of being interesting also. I'm very underwhelmed by how they treated this. Each mission is a pain because most of the levels are open dull empty areas where you have to go to one place to another. The enemies are super hard to battle against, and there is no difficulty mode

Now onto the main thing, the multiplayer.
I'm going to say this - this multiplayer has been the most underwhelming out of the bunch and this is probably the first Cod ever where i don't actually put effort into leveling up. When i heard about how this game played and the maps in the beta; i was so excited. However, when it dropped I soon realized how bad it actually is.

Basically both gunplay and gameplay don't correlate well at all with the maps. The only map I enjoy playing is Azhir Cave because it's short, to the point and you don't have to wait about 30-40 seconds to get back into the battle and when you die, you have to do the same thing it's not fun and it's not the style Cod should be. most of the normal maps "in the quick play rotation" are really bad as stated above. That being said the gunfights are a good implementation to the game. Maps like docks, and gulag showers (nice throwback) are good maps for 2v2. Only wish the main part of that gulag was in this MW as a standalone map. The worst map has to be Piccadilly because it's just uninspiring. There's no detail other than a bunch of thrown bus' in the middle and everyone camps, there's no good gameplay with this map. I understand if this happened in a normal life, then this would be realistic; but for an arcade shooter? no... I'm really surprised that map even went passed QA.. and finally ground war.. this is what i like the most ironically. but just copied from battlefield

Extras: I like the leaning feature, the graphics are beautiful (best cod for graphics), there's no full teams in multiplayer lol

Verdict - The campaign is solid, spec ops is mediocre and multiplayer is just biased (love it or hate it sorta thing). I'd say wait until it's on sale.

6/10 (OG post), could change in a couple weeks time but this is how i feel

I can just say they are ruining the gameplay, making people camp so much that is almost impossible to move without being shot from 20 places at the same time.

Spec ops: (I've played survival and the normal missions) it's a great mode where you can chill out with your friends, survival mode is good but it isn't for the pc or xbox version until next year.

in general facts, it is a good game, but the multiplayer experience isn't as good as old CoDs.

I WILL not do Infinity Ward the disservice of review bombing this game. That would be completely unfair to those who put countless hours into its creation. The game was stable and running like clockwork on launch for me and I've had no crashes and very few bugs, all of them so minor I'd barely pay any attention to them.

The campaign was much more in line with what I expected from a MODERN Modern Warfare game. It was by no means dumbed down, being downright uncomfortable to watch at times (this is a very good thing coming from the series that brought you the "Press F to Pay Respects" meme). The cast was diverse while not feeling like forced political pandering, and I actually found myself being invested in them much more than I have been in any previous Call of Duty game's characters. The gameplay itself also feels fantastic, with weapons and movement feeling like what call of duty has always been striving for; enough realism for everything to carry some weight but spiced up a bit to look pretty and be more accessible.

I DO have gripes with this game, hence the 6/10. The issues I do have are with some missing ore janky feature within the game. For instance, (playing on pc) I can go into my options, and pick between controller or Keyboard+mouse. Once I enter matchmaking, I am locked to my choice and the game does its best to put me only with other players using controller. This is fine, It keeps things more balanced. BUT, if not enough players with the same device are found, it will throw in anyone it can find. So multiple times I've been in matches, using a controller, and the other team had 2 players with keyboard and mouse, and Our team was at a disadvantage. This could easily be fixed by allowing, in cases like this, for the input device to be changed mid match.

There are also several issues with map layouts and spawns. At first I found the maps too large but that was just something to get used to. Now I've noticed that in flag capture modes, most objectives are set up in a chain, with one team spawning at each end. Meaning youll constantly be dieing in the middle of the map, and spawning in the same place, over and over. These matches tend to end exactly how they start, whoever happens to get the middle flag first and holds it wins. This could be fixed by trying to set all flags an equal distance from one another AND each spawn. This also carries over to ground war, accentuating the issue because of how large the maps are.

My final issue is more of just a personal wish, and this is the only place I feel I could actually give some solid feedback, but Spec Ops NEEDS an offline mode. I dont mean the offline it has, which is basically just round based survival, I mean the actual co op missions but alone or with an ai partner. When I think of spec ops, I think of the single player missions from Modern Warfare 2. If the current spec ops had a single player option, again with one ai teammate just to eat some bullets and revive you, each mission would be something akin to Sniper Elite or even Metro Exodus.

Over all I've been enjoying myself, but there are some fixes that could take this from a good game to the game every call of duty fan has expected since 2013.

If they had clearly positioned Barkov as a traitor to Russia, if they had made the final mission in the form of a joint operation of Russia and Price&Co., then the angles would have been more smoothed. Due to the lack of this certainty, many points are interpreted ambiguously and to a greater extent, not in favor of Russia. I am not an expert and will not undertake to judge who, where and what war crimes committed. I do not know, because propaganda exists on both sides. And the new CoD reminds me of propaganda... The problem of the current situation is that all the negativity created by Russia on the world political scene is done by the hands of the government, and the game is played by ordinary citizens who are far from politics or subject to Russian propaganda, so they are offended. No need to put a sign of equality between the government and the nation. Not all Russians are bad... Campagin 3/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Objectively - story company, it takes a maximum of 5 hours (on medium difficulty). Many points are borrowed from various films, and this even goes to the plus, but again, the plot is not enough. Some missions self-repeat. Some characters are not spelled out very well, because of this it is difficult to condole their feelings and sufferings (from evil Russians). As such, the "neutrality" that the developers promised is not. The choice is minimal and has little effect.
As usual, the Americans / British fellows saved the Russians from themselves (from the evil Russians).
Special operations are boring and uninteresting.
BUT there are no complaints about the gameplay, an excellent game, this is more like Battlefield than the latest Battlefield V.
Pleasant shooting, convenient and intuitive controls, but a little complicated interface for a simple layman (as an example - getting weapons for pre-order from the arsenal turned out to be difficult for some).
Too arcade control of equipment, although this is a stupid nitpicking, because IN CALL OF DUTY THERE IS VEHICLE and HELICOPTERS and this is already good.
Killstrikes for the mode are implemented cool, but balance is needed.
You feel the spirit of the very good Call of Duty, but it is played and felt in a new way (for the better).
    (Objective rating - 6.7)

Subjectively - my internal VATNIK just broke from the most violent Russophobia. It is Russophobic because it directly says about “KILLING RUSSIANS”, but in Russian localization the word “RUSSIANS” was replaced by “BARKOV SOLDIERS” to soften the glow.
The game showed "white helmets" that helped people under the rubble, although they are better known for their fake salvations, filmed for show.
Although Activision tried to somehow smooth it out by adding the “good” Russians who cooperate with the United States, but in the special operations on the territory of the “mocked” state the DNR (the modern conflict in Ukraine) served as a prototype. I will not talk about the notorious Feminism ...
    Too arcade technique, played poorly.
A lot of maps were created for campers (as if I had just entered Battlefield).
The problem of Asians with cheats on European servers can be omitted.
    (Subjective rating - 4.3)

The saddest thing in this situation is that the developers decided to push off the USA crimes in Iraq by changing "USA" to "Russia".
As an example: the "road of death in Urzikstan" is the same "road of death" in Iraq when, during the retreat of the Iraqi forces, the USAF destroyed the retreating Iraqi army (which is prohibited by the Geneva Convention).

(literally unplayable) BUT and emphasis on the BUT the campaign has a few quality moments and held my interest.

Multiplayer: The Multiplayer is in a rough spot, its not bad and plays better than MW2 on launch but as i write this there are three viable weapons and the rest are sort of just there... Not bad but just outclassed. The game plays quite well on the new engine and i love the small quality of life improvements such as editing classes in game. Cross platform is a bit buggy and you will be kicked from your group occasionally but besides that works well and is lots of fun. Gunfight is beyond amazing and i love the competitive pacing of it (please add a ranked mode to it). Minor adjustments to gun balancing would make the multiplayer much better, but all in all ive enjoyed it.

Spec Ops: Yet to play it as i cant download the package required and at this point couldn't care about it, from what ive heard its broken and boring.

Campaign: i had little to no faith in the campaign as i haven't enjoyed a call of duty story since i was 11. the story is cheesy at times, you have your generic falling out of helicopters and walking it off, or your cover shooting for 15 minutes. But the story does have a few exceptional moments, Clean house is a tense level and has a great pacing. the campaign is short but extremely sweet and if you can look past the generic stuff, its quite fun.

all in all a fresh take on an old friend, id recommend it as a Christmas gift for a family member, but not something you should spend $80 CAD before taxes on. wait till it has a sale and definitely pick it up.

Multiplayer is good in it's core, but has some points (Skill Based Matchmaking, Way too short time to Kill, a lot of camping spots on maps, Bad visabillity...) that makes it unplayable at some times, because in a Match of 12 Players 10 are Camping.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am reviewing this game as a whole. Story, Multiplayer, and Co-Op. Let’s start with the Multiplayer. The gun play is amazing! It feels like a back-to-form return to it’s predecessors. It just feels so good to run around with an SMG and mow down 3 people in an instant or snipe from a distance racking up 13 kills or the more basic option, running around with an Assault Rifle and killing the first person you meet. Even then, it’s SO SATISFYING. The shotguns have a weight that you feel when you use them (especially the 725). The add-on combinations are great and you could feel the difference they make. Some more then others, which sucks because some add-ons are essential or even unbalanced for certain weapons. Playing with friends is quick & easy and fun as ever. The maps are 50/50. Some maps you’ll have an amazing time on (*cough Shoot House *cough) and other, you’ll have a harder time on. This was never a problem for me because I have 5 different load-outs that I use and some certainly work better on specific maps rather than others, but people have taken notice to the jarring disparity in map quality. In short, the Multiplayer is as good as ever, once you get past some of the **** like OP weapons and toxic combinations. But that won’t take too long. I’m just gonna skim past this one because it’s pretty forgettable, the Co-Op is generic and boring without friends. Even then, it gets old quick. The “story aspect” they tried to implement is nonexistent. Mediocre at best, boring and forgettable at worst. Now the part you’ve been waiting for, the story. Is the controversy warranted? Well, I don’t have a definite answer, but it is pretty problematic at certain area’s. You start out trying to bomb a Russian base for having deadly gas used in war crimes, pretty generic. You get past that part and get to the next mission. A man named The Butcher bombs a city in England. You set out for revenge and team up with some revolutionaries. These people are revolting from the Russian government, and this is where it gets hairy. You see, in Modern Warfare, the President of Russia is General Barkov. He’s a brutal leader who gasses civilians and hates revolution. Sounds pretty cut & dry right? The thing is, every single Russian in the game is either dead or actively committing a war crime. Whereas the Americans are paragons of virtue. Now, people say this a Russophobic but I don’t know. It’s not actively telling people that Russians are evil or that the Russian government is authoritative. It’s just an evil bad guy getting taken down by a good guy. I don’t think any reasonable person will play the story and play through the story and believe that Russians are evil degenerates. I certainly didn’t. The problem I have is that the creators promised a “morally gray” storyline and all we got was good-guy-kill-bad-guy type of story that we’ve seen over and over again. I don’t think it’s racist in any way. I don’t think the creators meant for it to be racist. It’s just a good American soldier take down evil Russian soldier dynamic we’ve seen many times over. It’s dumb and antiquated but it’s definitely not an attempt to make Russians look like barbarians. In closing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has amazing Multiplayer but a dry Co-Op and a generic story. I recommend it solely for the Multiplayer. It’s just too good, it’s addictive! With friends, you won’t be able to put it down. Just do yourself a favor and skip the Co-Op. Play the story if you’d like but if you’re sensitive or easily offended, I recommend you don’t. That being said, the game is ok. Taking everything into account, I think this would be a great Multiplayer game to play either alone and grind out or to play with friends. Beyond that, it’s pretty dry. Buy it and give it a try, it’s not for everyone but if you just play COD for the Multiplayer or just like FPS in general, this is the game for you. Expand

The MW2019 spec ops is large open areas filled with enemies that just make the mode a slog to get through and will leave most players board. Multiplayer is rather enjoyable. There is a lack of funnel maps and the mode has gone away from the futuristic lasers and jet packs. Recent maps like Shoothouse have shown just how good this games multiplayer can be.

The single player is interesting from a gameplay perspective but the story is forgettable as are the characters. Whereas in something like Black Ops 2 where your choices would effect the story and not end it, here they just end the game. Open a door to the terrorists and you get a bullet in the head followed by a checkpoint reset. In Blops 2 when given the choice to shoot a friendly or the enemy your choice would effect which would live and how the story would continue. Honestly this story has no balls and it's attempts at being edgy and shocking fall flat. I found myself laughing at how try hard it was.

Overall I find that this game is meh at best. The spec ops is a flop, multiplayer is pretty good, and the singleplayer is meh.

The game is not bad at all... But the campers are terrible, and its the game's fault, becouse it is making if more worth to camp than to run...

The campaign is the best thing about this game. A lot of people dislike it because it depicts the Russians as pure evil even though this story is fictitious. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would like to put emphasis on the fact that this is the first Call of Duty I have actually enjoyed playing and invested a lot of time into since COD 4 remastered. The game itself is well balanced when it comes to its guns and is just generally fun and excited to play and I really do enjoy it. However, there is a major downside to this game and that’s the development of it. I have never played a game with so many issues and errors popping up. I know this isn’t just my network as it happens to everyone I know but everytime I freshly load up the game it says error connecting and sometimes this can genuinely take 3 attempts just to load up the game. You also can’t play loads of games back to back without a network error whether it’s being kicked out mid game for being disconnected from the call of duty servers or being kicked out of a party that you are in between games. I’ve noticed that in a party of 6 we can’t string more than 2 games together without their being a player booted out. The game itself also seems to freeze constantly and although it’s only for a few seconds when you’re in the lobby it can be so frustrating as you can’t even set up a class without the game glitching. The network errors for this game are such a let down considering how big the game itself is. I would genuinely rate this game a 9/10 if the network errors didn’t play such a big roll in preventing me from just having fun. This game with better servers and network consistency’s would be one of the top call of duty’s ever made hands down. Expand

    Из минусов:

Good, sadly, short campaign. Nothing spectacular.

Bought this game for multiplayer, came out unexpectedly dissapointed. AWFUL map design, super poor visibility on some maps, the only way to find a player on certain maps are to hunt for their nametags, which means that of course favors campers, because there's really no point in rushing the others, you will get flanked in a second.

This call of duty favored campers the most, doors everywhere, footsteps so easy to hear.
Maps are so big for a 6v6, combined with utter garbage design and visibility, its almost unplayable.
Small maps are a problem too, spawns are so damn broken, killstreaks basically freeze the game for like 20 seconds, you cant go out or the missiles will destroy you, another reason for camping. Headglitching... 12 tick servers...

Every time I log in, theres an update that requires a restart... Why cant the game update automatically overnight like all the rest of the games I have installed?? This is absolutely ridiculous. They need to fix the update delivery system asap. Its appalling and embarrassing considering other online games manage updates 10x better.

Aside from the absurd amount of updates, what happened to the leveling system? Why cant we prestige like previous games and receive a new badass prestige rank icon to showoff?? There was NOTHING wrong with that system! It gave us. sense of accomplishment. i felt like a badass when I finally reached prestige 8,9,10 so on and so forth. There is no sense of accomplishment if you reach 150 and get dropped to 50 after the season is over or even worse, drop to level 1 because of the stupid leveling glitch that they still havent fixed. It discourages you from playing!!!

Speaking of seasons and battle passes.... This whole battle pass thing is the worst thing to grace this industry. Its grotesque, unnecessary, and down right scummy. Its because of this battle pass that leveling your rank is a complete crap shoot. All this to please the publishing gods and satisfy their greedy pockets. Its disgusting the amount of money Activision makes and still have the audacity to ask for more.

    Ways to improve the game:
    1. Deliver updates behind the scenes aka overnight.
    2. Bring back the prestiging leveling system.
    3. If you are going to have a battle pass, do not let the leveling rank suffer. Bring back prestiging as an independent leveling system for those that do not want to buy/participate in the battle pass and an independent leveling system exclusive for battle pass members. Gameplay accomplishments and experience will apply to either player prestige or both systems depending if the player purchased the battle pass.

There, I fixed three glaring issues with this game and it only took me several minutes. Will it happen? Absolutely not but I needed a place to rant and let my frustrations out.

Other those things, the campaign is very good. The cinematic cutscenes are so well done and the characters are so incredible lifelike. The team really nailed the core atmosphere of Modern Warfare and really pushed it to the limits. Game play is solid also. The shooting mechanics have always been incredible and this game is no exception. Spec ops on the other hand is incredible lack luster. There arent that many missions and the ones available are boring and leave a lot to be desired. After experiencing the Campaign, you would expect the same level of story telling and action but you dont get any of that in Spec Ops. This is a playlist that can be removed and most the players wouldnt care.

Thats it for my review. i give this game a generous 6/10.

The developers constantly switch up the maps and game modes, and almost always, remove shipment map which is my favorite because its the only map where you can rack up 100+ kills in 1 game, usually has to be domination mode. Please make small maps with maximum number of players so we can be satisfied. The guns and attachments are diverse but there are still many incredible modern guns that are missing in this game. Some of the killstreaks are terrible and useless. Make better killstreaks. Thanks. Expand

Everything is upside down. Call of Duty has a better solo campaign than multiplayer after many years. We will remember a perfectly scripted war with a dense atmosphere, but we’ll forget about the unbalanced online multiplayer. [Issue#298]

After a multiplayer-centric episode, the COD fans will be delight with the return of a nervous and strong solo campaign. Modern Warfare is back with old-fashioned gameplay that is more grounded and efficient. The generous amount of content adds some depth to one of the best chapters of the saga to date. Magic!

Overall Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a good title that is marred by the expectations that the Modern Warfare name brings with it. The campaign has some really stellar gameplay moments that are brought down by the mediocre plot. Multiplayer was fun but felt a bit like the competition’s output (despite there being no Battlefield release this year) which may be a turn off for some. I don’t think Modern Warfare 2019 has done anything to make me rethink waiting for substantial price drops to play Call of Duty campaigns, because clearly multiplayer is still Activision’s main focus and that’s just not where I get my kicks.
