Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a game that absolutely never needed to exist. The first two games are great stories that didn’t need a continuation, not that BO3 was a continuation of any sort. The first two games are great stories that didn’t need a continuation, not that BO3 was a continuation of any sort. In fact, this is a game that should have killed the Call of Duty franchise, but hey when people are willing to buy trash Treyarch and Activison are willing to oblige. For heaven sake they had some other no-name companies come up with an online-only multiplayer so this game could make some extra money on Xbox 360 and PS3.

I looked long and hard into this wondering whether it was worth buying, whether the campaign was worth it. I found many articles saying what an amazing story this game had. As I’ve now played it, I have to wonder what drugs these people were on. What story? It’s like a computer wrote this story. There are so many story threads here but none of them connect together. It would make you brain dead to try and figure out a cohesive story. What the hell is this story about? Who are we fighting for? Who are we fighting against? Why should I care this guy betrayed us? I never got to know him. The story of the other group would have been more interesting, instead 3/4 of the way through we’re given exposition dumps and weird half-baked WWII and Zombies levels??

This game is so broken and buggy, Treyarch just threw up the game and turned its back on it. This game hard crashed several times and a few other times froze in the midst of the game where I thought it would crash before continuing. There are no checkpoints, you can’t quit and come back in. When you crash you get to play the entire mission over again, even if you were at the very last stage. My first hard crash made sure the game would never load the correct mission on its own again. If I had to hear about Singapore or the Black Ops site one more time or that damn loading screen video I was going to lose it. There were also mission breaking bugs where you go through thinking everything is okay until you’re near the end and the mission can’t continue, again there’s no checkpoints so you have to start all over and get to witness the moments that were missing the first time, such as a character not talking the entire time and thus isn’t really in the mission despite running around with you. At one point, the game crashed so hard the system thought the disc was a PS4 Format Disc. That was an interesting little surprise I’ve never witnessed in any game ever.

This is not a game to waste your time with. I only finished because I was playing split-screen LAN and we could laugh about how terrible everything was. But playing in split-screen is one heck of an experience. First you can only play horizontally as though they were convinced you’d play with four people. But the biggest issue is that there are black bars on the sides of the screen. The game doesn’t even take up the whole screen! We had to sit close to the screen to see, everything is so small and cramped. What a disaster of a game. The only thing I can say is that I got this super cheap and it was short, so was our agony.

Black Ops III is excellent and fun and incredible. The Multiplayer is super fun and the gameplay loop is intoxicating. The advanced movement can get tired but the rest of the game far outweighs these sparse moments. Zombies is awesome and tells interesting stories. The campaign hits no stellar notes, and floats along sometimes forgettably, which to this day baffles me beyond reason. (I,Black Ops III is excellent and fun and incredible. BLOPS 3 has the worst Single Player Campaign I have ever played and the multi-player is so un-grounded it’s a joke. No fun at all. The last good COD game I played was BLOPS 1 on PS3.

BO3 is pretty sweet and it's not cause their are double jumps that this game is bad it just makes the game more fast pace and gives you more offensive or defensive tactics. It has nice maps and a nice gun range the campaign actually has a good plot with an intriguing evil. It has a wide range of guns the zombies is really nice offering different mechanics from casual zombies. Expand

I have never played the Black Ops Series, nor even knew what it was about, until now. With the new Black Ops Cold War launching soon as of this writing, and with Black Ops 3 in my library (I got it for free as part of Playstation Plus), my experience with the Black Ops series could begin. I watched walkthroughs of the first two games, to get an understanding of the story, and I liked them both.

But with Black Ops 3 taking place in 2065, I was really skeptical about this. What I like about the first Black Ops game, was its setting in the 1960’s with “real life” locations. So of course, a game with robots in a futuristic world…. It isn’t my favorite thing to play.

But I actually quite enjoyed it. Of course if I didn’t get it for free, I wouldn’t have played it. But I am glad that I got to play it.

The story is okay, sometimes it was perfect, and sometimes it was boring. But I really liked, that it was about the negative things about the future of mechanical and digital things. It is quite scary if robots in real life goes rogue, or prosthesis is mechanical things connected to your brain. That was a positive thing about the story. The characters are not that interesting compared to the prior games. I also think there is a lack of mention or present of previous characters. I am really missing the connection why this is the third installment. Personally this game could have been named something else and I wouldn’t be against it.

The gameplay is the highlight of this game. It is fast paced, but still you can enjoy the beautifully surroundings at a slower pace. The shooting is fast paced and… fun. Normally I just want to enjoy the narrative, but when the story was at the boring stages, the shooting helped me to enjoy the game. The wall climbing and jumping are also okay fun in the beginning. But strangely I could not figure out to equip them in the story. So I completed the game without the use of these mechanical equipment.

I have only played a few matches in online. As always Call of Duty is a perfect online experience with different modes and places. But with the present of wall running and super jumps I did not enjoy it as much as other online Call of Duty games. Personally I can’t figure out the super jumps in online matches, so I prefer a natural gun battle in Deathmatch.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is a surprisingly good game. I prefer the more realistic Call of Duty game without the futuristic, however I did enjoy this. Comparing the prior games in the series, I prefer them over this because of the realism. It has an okay story with fun high paced gameplay and beautiful surroundings.

The gameplay here is great, it all runs smoothly for all platforms, the gunplay is good, the graphics are great as well, even five years later the game looks pretty good, and the soundtrack is also great, the only technically bad thing about this game is the AI, which, well, has never been too good let's be honest.

    Campaign:
Oh boy where to even start? The campaign, while being fun to play, is an absolute mess, the story makes zero sense, it f*cks with your brain for the purpose of f*cking with your brain, no deep storytelling or anything, just a plain mess, and the characters are SOOOOOO forgetable, the plot was interesting at least but the way they excecuted it was absolutely terrible, and has the recognition of Worst CoD campaign ever for that reason. 4/10

    Multiplayer:
I have some very mixed feelings for multiplayer, as a game it is good, it is well designed, but what about the other stuff? The map design in most maps are pretty good for the jetpack+wall run movement which already took a point away for me, but the visual design for almost every single map is just, way too colorful and with barely any sort of destroyed things around, and doesn't give those WAR atmosphere feeling, taking away the immersion, it feels more like, there are some exceptions of course. The personalization in this game is pretty decent, even though most gear looks... Weird and goofy, but here's where we approach to the thing that takes the most points away, and that, or those are, the infamous Supply Drops, oh my god, when we talk about look crate systems, the worsg one is obviously Black Ops 4, Black Ops 3 is basically Black Ops 4 but a little less aggressive for the player, the weapons are extremely rare and are hidden between THOUSANDS of emotes, emblems, camos, gear, andnother useless sh*t nobody really wants, and while some of those guns absolutely suck, others are way too OP like the MSMC, or well... XMC. Overall, the multiplayer is Fine, I guess, it's mehh. 6/10

So I already talked about this game in a rather negative point of view, so why do I give this entire game an 8/10? Here's where I spent most of my over-a-thousand-hours of gameplay, and by most I mean... MOST, like 75% or 80%.

    Zombies:
While the campaign was terrible and the multiplayer was rather mediocre, the Zombies mode is what you could even call a MASTERPIECE, every single thing about the Zombies mode is GOOD, not solid or decent, but GOOD or better than good (except the revelations easter egg steps), there's not a single bad map, Zetsubō no Shima had a pretty rough launch but redeemed itself with patches and updates, turned into one of the best maps of all time, just like the rest of the Black Ops 3 maps, Revelations was a huge nostalgia boner but it was easily the worst of the maps since it brought NOTHING new, Zetsubou no Shima, as I said, turned from trash to great, Shadows of Evil is arguebly the best free map, The Giant is the definition of a PERFECT remaster, and Gorod Krovi and Der Eisendrache turned into fan favourites and INSTANT CLASSICS, and the same goes for the easter eggs, the map design in most maps is perfect for high rounds, and the gobblegums are a great addition for Easter Egg hunt, that made it easier and more enjoyable, the maps also tell players that being lazy is gonna bring DEATH to them, because most of the wonderweapon builds are quite the puzzles, and that effort is rewarded with AMAZING wonderweapons, the only exceptions of buldable WWs are: Raygun MK3 (Gorod Krovi), Apothicon Servant (Revelations), Thunder Gun (Revelations), Ragnarok Spikes (Revelations), Wunderwaffe (The Giant). The Easter Eggs are also amazing with the exception of Revelations, which was disappointing for a finale to BO3Z, but the rest are great, the bossfights were fun as hell, especially the GK boss and the DE boss, and so is the Lore behind them, including Revelations, which is a perfect buildup for the Black Ops 4 plot. But that is not it, oh no it is not it, the Characters are, unlike the campaign, extremely memorable and iconic, AL OF THEM, especially the primis crew of course, and that's still not it, the final DLC for BO3 was a 30€ DLC pack that contained 8 REMASTERED MAPS, 30€ was at first a conteoversial price, but the controversy didn't last long because The Giant costs 5€, 5 x 8 = 40, we got a price lower than the value of that DLC pack, and did it pay off? Absolutely, the remasters were perfect, and you could even say that they were better than the original maps because of the BO3 engine, which felt like it was literally made for Zombies. 10/10
