They fixed a lot of stuff. The feel in the MP got much better, weapon balancing, score streaks, spawns and the audio in blackout is way better than before. Solid result.

Shiny on the outside but crap on the inside. Should have stuck to what works instead of trying to please the 12 year old fan boys. Trash game and without a campaign.

And at least there’s split screen right? You cannot even achieve a constant frame rate of 30 while playing in the split screen mode. And most times there would be huge lag spikes when ever a other player was in your field view, making shooting and aiming impossible.

There’s so many micro transactions in this game it actually annoys me so much, especially when every player I’ve seen has bought them. They look stupidly goofy as well.

If I honestly paid full price for this game I would not leave the store I bought it from until they gave me a refund.

This game is horrible it has no campaign which was he best part about the entire series since call of duty 1 along with the microtransactions it makes the game even worse. Why not just make it free to play then you would get more people playing it and more reason to have microtransactions.

"Worst game in the series and it's bound to get worse from here on out."

Blackout could easily be the worst battle royal game I've ever played, its slow, ugly and boring. I haven't even been able to try the zombies mode because no one plays it. COD BO4 could have one of the best multiplayer modes we have seen since MW3 but everything else is trash, this game isn't worth the full AAA price but if you have the money to spare I recommend getting it solely for the multiplayer. Specialists are fun, some fit certain play styles better than others but I don't think any are overpowered. Haven't played a ton of Blackout and zombies, as I'm not super into BR type games and zombies has become a bit much for me, but what I have played of each they are very well done and fun to play. The thing that knocks it down for me is the Black Market track, I wish they had some sort of skill based challenges similar to contracts and orders in WW2 (that don't cost CP) to keep some sense of progression or challenge going. I haven't gotten the pass yet and undecided if I will, 50$ seems like a lot to pay for what is essentially access to 12 maps (since I don't play zombies). I get that it's a way to prevent the player base split that inevitably happens with DLC but it's just a little steep for me. My mood could change quickly if they end up adding in more content or there's a sale. All in all his is the most fun I've had with a FPS since BO2 and don't let all of the negative user reviews about the lack of campaign cause you to hesitate if you're a fan of the series. Expand

    2. Blackout is just activision's sad attempt to get into the new fad of battle royale game modes. They have stated that this will be their main focus going forward, which leaves anyone who likes a traditional CoD game out of luck.

    3. Minigames were the majority of what I played in CoD games since the original Black Ops. I've been dying to see sticks and stones in another CoD game since Bo2, but activision have repeatedly failed to deliver. Games like Infection, one in the chamber, one shot and gun game have also disappeared from this game's playlist unfortunately.

The one point I gave was for the remake of the old maps. They look very good. I just wish there was some fun gameplay to go along with them.

You could tell when it was first released that many things were overpowered and needed to be nerfed, but just recently Treyarch and the other devs listened and made a huge update that fixed many of the problems.
My favorite game mode right now is gun game and it's truly great and reminds me a lot of Bo3. Though Bo4 did try to implement something new - "blackout" so far i have mixed opinions, it can be very fun but things like looting bags (how long it takes) and frame rate dips need to be addressed, it's clear it does need a bit of polishing.

Mechanically the game is very good... HOWEVER:

The game itself is a joke, a load of old maps thrown together in an unfinished way, with no campaign. The Zombies maps are dissappointing. Blackout is the only saviour, but there are major issues with this as well.
The price is disgusting for a remake of old stuff. Would never buy or recommend to anyone

I think this game is getting way to much hate. I'm sure people played the campaign, but not that many people. Multiplayer was always the COD experience. They brought solid maps, solid gun play, relatively balanced characters and guns. That made up a pretty good experience. I will break down my review into each multiplayer mode.

    Battle Royal/Blackout:

I think the BR in BO4 is some of the best we've seen so far, things can still be improved though. Progression is probably the worst thing in Blackout, but this can be improved with a simple patch. Takes a long time to unlock stuff as-is. Gun play is tight and feels responsive. I never felt like I was unfairly killed. Overall 8/10 (Minor bug fixes and better progression would make it a 10)

    Multiplayer:

I spent the most of my time playing various modes in the multiplayer. in my 30ish hours I never noticed any weapon being overpowered, everything had its place. Progression is rewarding, unlocking things like skins or new weapons is very natural (once every couple games) and you always have something to look forward to. The customization of weapons is probably my favorite part, ALL guns feel different. Overall (10/10)

    Zombies:

Probably the worst part of the game. Coming out with one map (and another blocked behind a paywall), though fun made the game feel pretty repetitive. Difficulty is there and playing with friends is a blast. Once they add more maps, it will be a lot better. Overall (7/10)

Conclusion... I can't comment on micro transactions as the game has none yet. It's something to keep an eye on. The $60 you spend on the game, as of this moment is worth it. Overall (8/10)

Keep in mind, this is my opinion and mine alone!

It is heavily sped up. Guns are all along the lines of over-powered, to the point where the first unlockable handgun is just as good as the last unlockable Sub-Machine gun. (A LOT of buffing is gonna need to be done, Activision.) But for what it is worth, the maps are decent.

Moving onto 'Blackout', which is honestly still a flaming hot piece of garbage, but nonetheless I'd much rather play that than Fortnite.

Zombies is where I am giving the game a 5/10. Only because no matter what, Zombies will always hold a special place in my heart. Even if Activision love being tight-asses with their DLC, I will always play the Black Ops series just for that.

IN CONCLUSION: Don't expect anything 'different' in this game, just Black Ops 3.1 with no moon-jumping.

I absolutely love what they have done with that mode; however, I'm severely disappointed by the lack of content that has been added since the release of Black Ops 4. There are several issues I have with this video game, one of them being the micro-transaction system. Currently, you either have to grind for approximately 60 days to get all of the "content" that is in this title, or spend an absurd amount of money. For example, if you like a particular camouflage that is behind supply drops, you have to get it for every single gun in the game. That's just ridiculous! Also, the time to kill in multi-player, at least in core game modes, is much too long on most weapons, other than snipers and specialist weapons. Who thought that was a good idea? Lastly, the removal of single-player was absolutely stupid. Some people, including myself, love campaigns in Call of Duty. Why did Blackout, which is my least favorite mode in the entirety of the game, get the okay to just shove a great concept out the window? I'm not saying this is the absolute worst CoD that has been made, but it's damn close. Expand

With no story mode included, Black Ops 4 can be broken down into its three game modes. These being the regular multiplayer and zombies modes found in most Call of Duty's, but also includes an all-new Blackout mode. The multiplayer is the best it has been for many years. It is ACTUALLY fun to play and very fast pace. The amount of small and medium size maps in the game allow for this to happen. It brings together past favorite maps such as "Nuke Town" or "Firing Range" which adds nostalgia to fans who have been there for years. The weapons feel pretty balanced and have undergone many changes since its initial release. Assault rifles seem to be the most dominant weapons as they can pretty much do everything you could ever want in the game. Snipers have little to no real reason to be used on the smaller maps meaning they feel unusable. The pick ten system they have for creating a loadout is more innovative then it has been in the past. Each weapon is allowed to have their own set of attachments that not every gun would have. There are new specialist attachments that allow for new impactful changes in your weapons however, it takes a couple spots up from your pick ten. Each spot for the pick ten feels way more important then it did before. The equipment almost feels as if it should not be used as well since the different specialist has abilities that are usually better. All the perks could disappear and I do not believe much of the game would change. Only a handful of them actually feels like they are making a difference. Scorestreaks seem to be overpowered at times as they completely change the pace of a game. Choppers and most air units instantly get kills with little time for someone to defend themselves. Zombies have been newly renovated in a couple ways. In the create a class selection you now have the option to pick your own perks and in what order you would like to receive them based off maps. The new map IX is one of my favorites in the franchise. It is linear enough for me to pack-a-punch weapons without the help of a guide. The map simply looks amazing with the many mythologies shown around. Classified brought out old favorites through the maps "Five" and "Moon." Zombies overall are as fun as it has always been in the past. Not too many changes had happened to make it stand out considerably. Blackout is your usual massive battle arena game. It brings out the best that its competitors had to offer and replicates them very well. Using original map design from past games as well shows a lot of care into what they have created. Overall, it is an enjoyable experience that could not be found in games such as PUBG. An issue with the game is that it contains a system of buying tiers in their Black Market section. It works exactly the same as it does for Fortnite. However, the tiers can unlock through simply playing the game. Everything found within their is purely cosmetic as well. Overall Black Ops 4 is an amazing new installment to a failing franchise. Hopefully, Treyarch will be able to keep its fan base happy as they normally do in the past. Expand

It’s not that I can’t respect it — it seems to offer decent value in that it’s essentially three different types of shooter in one package, but aside from the new Blackout mode, I’ve had significantly better experiences from many of its competitors. And honestly, Blackout’s main competition is a free-to-play game. It may be better than Fortnite in my opinion, but sixty dollars better? I’m not entirely convinced about that, and without a decent singleplayer campaign attached, it’s a pretty hard sell for anyone who isn’t already a fan.
